Hi guys,
I have updated my Qtek 9090 to WM5. But I found an annoying problem, every time when I plug out the battery, for example to change the SIM card, the date information will lose and I must set it again when I turn it on.
Does anybody have good idea to solve this small problem?

Peter

What is the status of your backup battery.
Is it fully charged before AND after you change the battery.
If after changing the main battery the system reports the backup battery to be discharged, maybe your backup battery is died?
Mine does the same thing. I think our back up batteries are dead. How does one replace the battery?
the date and time gets erased every time i change batteries. quickest way to get the time/date right is to connect the xda2s to the computer via activesync (or manually correct it)
I have checked the status of the backup battery from WM5 battery information, it is 100% full. Is this information believable or not? If not, does anybody know how to change the backup battery?

What % is the backup battery after you change your main battery.
Thats the key, if it says it is flat after change then your backup battery is not holding charge.
To change it I believe would entail opening your pda case and removing the old battery & installing a new battery of the same type/rate.
Don't know if they are soldered or clipped in, someone with more knowledge may shed some light.
i use the ms activesync to synchronize the date
i have the same problem.. even if i poke the soft reset button, time and date reverts to default.. september 1, 2004..
i can assure that my back up battery still works.. it loses charge and drains (my ramdisk gets wiped out) for about 30 minutes without the main batt..
I'm having the same problem as well.
Anyone found a solution to this yet?
EDITED:
I'm using Helmi_BA_WM2k5_AKU3.5_v1.4.CF2 R2
And I've confirmed this problem doesn't occur when using WM2003SE.

I have no problem with that, and i am using the same rom as you.
When i remove teh battery, first i lock the device, and turn it off, making the screen all black. now i remove it, and in less than 20 secs i swap cards.
No mem loss.
When you mean by "turning it off", you meant pressing the power button and it goes to suspend mode right?
Cuz on my Dell X51v there's a function to perform a full poweroff which I can't find in this ROM.
anyone tried to remove the battery the moment just after choosing a soft reset?
1. choose soft reset
2. then when the four colored lines come out, take out the battery
3. insert new battery
4. turn on the power
5. just in case the R and G values display "NONE", just choose soft reset again
i think it's a good alternative to keep the date/time after changing batteries... i just don't know the harmful ramifications in doing so, if any...

Of course.
Ok, this is strange.
I accidentally moved the battery latch when the screen was on, the battery fell out and the screen faded out quickly. But when I put the battery back in and reboot the device, all settings including date & time were still there!
So I tried the same method when swapping to my other battery and it worked as well! w00tz!
Done it a few times now with 100% success so far.
Drifter
I use Drifter by Kopsis when I'm in wi-fi range. Drifter uses Network Time Protocol (NTP) to set the time. Thus you can set the time even without syncing to your computer.
I'm using AKU 3.5.2 with the BuildOS on default settings and i can change my battery just fine.
My BA was send to repair at a known website, when returned was indicating that the backup battery was UNKNOWN.
I've opened the BA and removed, and placed back the backup batery.
Now it says that the backup battery is 100%, but if I remove the main battery I loose ALL DATA from main memory
What is happening with it? Any help thoughts?
replace the backup battery with a new one. your's just died.
how to replace the backup battery?
is there a wiki on how to replace the backup batt? i feel mine is dead as well.
Same... My BA started to act weirdly after I flash it with WM5.
Example if I left it from a longtime in standby mode, if I were to suddenly make a phone call by pressing the green dial button the phone will just automatic restart.
After phone reboot, time and date etc gets reset.
Anyone facing this problem?
My problem is only when I remove the main batery I losse all mem.
The backup battery isn't rechargeable??
Where to buy one and what is the reference??
Guys.. how to show the status of the backup battery?
any registry edit?
thanks guys..
running 6.5 os
I guess there is no way to show that status on WM 6.5. For me, I never saw anything like that in the roms I tested, till now.
The only way to say that it is damaged, is when you change the sim or the main battery and the device does a hr after inserting the main bat back in!
The backup battery should keep the device alive, at least for a few seconds to change the sim or the main battery, in all other cases it would be shown as 100% working, as it should do. Sometime the ramdisk is erased after running out of power, which might be a sign for a worn out backup battery.
This could only be prevented by keeping the main battery at a good power level, shutting down the device earlier by using proggis like batti.exe or changing the backup battery. But be carefull: You won't be the first to brick your hima!
Sometimes it hard to find the right battery, you can use the same as for the BA, I read somewhere arround here.
tnx.. muckelmaus..
hope some they there is a solution..
use software
Use Batti you will get to know your backup battery status then.
tnx.. guyz..

most people know about the fix for the battery going flat quickly
my question is
when you go to recovery>wipe we normally wipe top 3 options
will this wipe the batterystats.bin file without selecting the 4th option
if so why are we not told to have a fully charged phone before we wipe and install new roms??
this could be the main problem with people saying this rom is a battery drainer not using this anymore!!!!!!!!
BatteryCalibrator.apk
Hey guys,
I quickly threw together this battery calibration app - enjoy!

Updated Battery Calibration Method
So... Explain now; why would I want to wipe the battery stats?
Yes, I do like to whine about that thing. Unnecessary to do things which doesn't affect the battery in any way.

As far as I understand.
Battery stats contain charge status of your battery.
some times while switching ROM battery status.bin may show incorrect values
so even if battery is not charged full, you might get status that it is charged 100% and will result poor battery performance.
Here we try things.Sometimes it works sometime it dont.
wiping battery stat process is harmless. Why not give a try :silly:
