Hi,
I want to try to do a rom backup.
When I read this http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=370
I saw that to start in boot menu I need to Power + Action Button and Soft Reset.
Which is Action button (circular center joystick pushing?)
Sorry for this obviously question...
Yes the center of the "joystick". I didnt know either dont worry.
Thanks a lot

I am currently using Dutty's newest rom. For the PTT button I am able to define what happens when I hold the button.
I would like to add the ability to close the program when I hold the OK button (button 4). Is there a good way to add the (hold) option in the button settings for all buttons?
Thanks,
-Dan
For ALL buttons? Even the camera? Then what? How will you take pictures?
Have you searched? Someone wrote a program to do this, I read it yesterday. Try searching. I know you are new, but the search button will be yoru friend.
Well, I guess not all buttons. I just would like the option to configure two things for each button.
Through my search I found AE button. I tried that, but was unsuccessful to get it to work properly. I am attempting to remap the side OK button. Remapping the "OK" button only applies to the front OK button.
I think more of my issue is that I am trying to remap the side button, is that possible? I imagine many people would love to be able to close programs using this button.
I hate to be so wrong, so quickly.
My mistake, AE button is exactly what I was looking for it. I was remapping the wrong button. Although it isn't easy to use, I recommend it to all.
I would prefer a reg-tweek to add the option to the buttons dialog, but this will do.

This is the simplest and non 3rd party way to remap your buttons for long press. No need to install a program.
Does anyone know how to enable this option? I just installed a cooked ROM and the option is not there?
JKO
Press and hold both the softkeys and press the reset button.
Keep holding the softkeys until you see a screen asking you if you want to delete all you data.
On this screen press send (green phone)
Voila!
Can someone that knows what they are doin make an app to turn the PTT button into the SOFT RESET button? I mean to function just as the real SOFT RESET button does, push and soft reset happens. No pop-ups askin to confirm just soft reset when pushed.
This would be great and would cut down on having to remove the battery cover.
I've mapped the PTT button on the ATT version to various things, and can tell you that its very easy to hit this button on accident. Therefore, mapping it to soft reset IMO is not a great idea.

This is an interesting idea. I am currently using Rhodium Keyboard Controller. After reading your post, I mapped the START button to "Default Key Action" for Click and I am trying RESET.exe assigned to Triple Click. The location of the Window Start button and Triple Click is less likely to trigger accidently (so far so good)
As a LEFTY, here is how I have mapped the PTT:
CLICK= Back
Double Click=Camera
Triple Click=Send Recieve all
Long Press= Voice Command
I hope this is helpful.
★ Device: AT&T Tilt 2
★ Radio: 4.49.25.95
★ ROM: Energy.RHODIUM.21684.CHT2.0.Sencity.Nov.8
Like syNRGz said, you could use the Keyboard Config app to map the PTT button to the reset function. U can usually find the reset button in the start menu.. so u can access it from Windows/StartMenu/.. and then the reset.ink or sometimes its in tools or settings folder. it will still ask u to confirm but jus like Redpoint said, its really not a good idea to map PTT button to reset. it can be accidently pressed and the phone will restart. You dont need to open the back cover to reset. You can always reset from the start Menu. The ROM comes w/ a reset button.
ANother way is to map the PTT button to 'Power Management' in the keyboard config and then select reset.
I hope this helps.
I use the Rhodium keyboard controller for the PTT button with the following settings.
1 Click - Task Manager or Arkswitch
2 Clicks- Wi-Fi Toggle
Long Press - Camera
Works good for me, do you really want a button where you only have to push it once and it soft resets without confirming? Just use quickshutdown and a long hold to the sleep button will get you a soft reset just a swipe away. Or just drill a hole in the side of the back cover where the reset button is so you don't have to take off the rear cover to press it.
Here's the idea:
I'd like to remap the keys in my N7K as follows:
-Long press home button for search
-Press current menu button for multitasking (show open apps)
-Long press current menu button for menu option.
The others would operate the way they do currently.
Any kind person could help with this? Thank you in advance!
Nothing close to this has been done yet..
However something similar is possible with using the app called home2shortcut
U will havve to delete the voice apk from your system/app to get this working..
the options u will get are
assign homme long press
assign home press followed by menu and
assign home press followed by back...
So kind of getting 3 additional hardware buttons.

Thanks! I'm trying to avoid clicking the home button as much as possible. Thus trying to replace long press home button by the menu button.

Not sure how that relates to my question. Checked the app and it seems all it does is add notification toggles just like it's name implies. That's not what my question is about but thanks!
Hi,
does anyone know a program how to reassign the virtual keys. For example, press the back button once and press Kill Apps twice. etc.
I am not sure, but I think you need root for that. Maybe even a custom ROM.
I have that.
