How do I get rid of the content of extended ROM? - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

When I tried to upgrade the rom of my ALPINE the "stage 2" (extended rom.) has stop at 29%. I tried many times with same bad result. Now I have my Alpine working with:
ROM: 1.11.00WWE
ROM date: 01/27/05
Radio: 1.04.00
Protocol: 1337.42
extended rom: -- blank --
However, I have unlocked the extended rom and the files are there but corrupted. I can't reade the config.txt or run any cab. My question is: Is there any way to delete these files or to eliminate the whole estenden rom? If so, does this procedure afect performance of the device?
Thank you for your cooperation.

i have the same problem but with Magician..
i wonder y this thread got no futher posts..
can anybody help?

PDA2K, extended ROM password

hi all,
I have a PDA2K that i'd like to edit the extended ROM of.
I've downloaded the ROM updates, but i'd like to customise the contents of ms_.nbf.
does anyone know the password?
if so, what tools do i need to get in there and edit the file?
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance !!
Hi,
I don't think i was clear enough in my original post, but can anyone at all help me with this ?
i've downloaded the lastet ROM update from club-imate:
ROM version: 1.22.00 WWE
ROM date: 10/22/04
Radio version: 1.06.00
Protocol version 1337.38
ExtROM version: 1.22.162 WWE
I'm using WM 2003 ROM Image editor, so as I can customise my EX_ROM.
i've tried this password to try and unlock my ms_.nbf 0x20040522.
But it is the incorrect one.
anyone have any ideas ?
there's a free cookie for the person that helps me gain access to my EX_ROM
The program you've mentioned is not compatible with the PDA2K (Blueangel) roms. Therefore you cannot use it to edit your extended rom. I actually don't know a program that would do it for PDA2K. Sorry...
i had a feeling that would be the case
i've been able to unlock my EX_ROM, no problem.
I can create my own cab files, but what i CAN'T do is repack the ms_.nbf file, so as i can upload it back to my device.
would you know how to do that ?
hmmm, i mustn't have been logged in when i posted the above reply
Well, keep a copy of yor extended rom in the unpacked formatd ( cabs, autorun.exe, config.txt etc ) on your computer's harddrive. Once you've edited the extended rom, it will stay that way on your handheld until the next rom update, in other words everytime you hardreset your device the new edited extended rom will be excuted. And once you upgrade your rom, you can still copy the files back to your extended rom. It is kind of complicated and not the best way to resolve the problem but unfortunately the only way for now
yes, that way would work with my device.
problem i have is, that i'm building this as an SOE for a large corporation, so I need to deploy my image to many devices, making it a real pain in the hole.
anyways, thanks for your help thus far .

Any progress on unlocking Extended ROM on newer Wizards?

Bought my T-Mobile MDA a few weeks ago and found a handy app (IIWPO) I'd like to install in the extended ROM.
However, it looks as though around February the ability to access extended rom is no longer an option.
Is this truly the case or is there a new unlocker app available?
I tried Loving Wife's unlocker with no luck.
There was an unlocker built for the Prophet that was suppose to work for the Wizard, but it doesn't.
ROM Ver = 2.26.10.2 WWE
ROM Date = 6/7/06
Radio Ver = 02.25.11
Protocal Ver = 4.1.13.12
ExtROM Ver = 2.26.10.105
Comments are appreciated!
What do you mean? View the cabs in the extended rom? I can still access my. Using Total Commander, I just type in "extended_rom" and up pops the cabs.
No, he wants to unlock the Extended Rom. Same situation ol' Euth is in. I've been trying to add IIWPO for weeks. Seems that I cannot find a working unlocker for any AKU2.x ROM.
Euth, you are correct.
I can view the files without issue.
Heck, I can even add files (temporarily).
But as soon as I soft reset the Wizard, the files go away.
Did you try making all copied files in ExtROM read only?

I need an old rom

Hi guys I haven't time to install all my software again and I have a Sprite backup, but I need a copy of the 1.11.00 ROM to install ..... otherwise the restore from Sprite won't work (or so I understand).
The Rom I need is
1.11.00 WWE
01/27/05
Radio 1.00.00
Protocol version 1337.39
ExtROM v 1.11.162 WWE
The reaosn I'm going to have to re-install is that the camera has disappeared and some other odd things are happening.
If somone can point me to the right download I'd be very grateful
Mike
Hi, be sure to read the correct Sprite FAQ BEFORE you change your ROM as you will need to run the upgradedata util on the old ROM in order for a smooth restore to the different ROM

Pls help - XDA & Error 100 (Upgrading to WM5)

Hi,
i was using xda 2s, with WM5 (old-build) and several months ago, unaware followed this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=274505
somehow, i've managed downgrade to WM2003SE again,
using this link:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Downgrade_WM5
(ROM: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date : 03/10/05
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol ver: 1337.42
ExtRom: -blank-).
running this version the Bluetooth cannot run, 'license expire'.
Later, I want to try the new ROM (looking for the one with direct push-mail feature) of HELMI in this link:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Helmi.
When running BAupgrade, received error:
Error 100: Model ID Error 25-N-10-N-N
("the ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your divice. please check the vender web site and download the correct ROM update")
then tried to run with MaUpgrade, it seem work, but no upgrade at all.
Somebody pls help..
Thank you very much.
u need to use MaUpgrade_NoID instead. it should be on the wiki website somewhere.
also remove the SD card from the slot before doing the upgrading.
Unfortunetely, MaUpgrade_NoID did not work..no upgrade at all..
is it normal if 'Ext ROM : -(blank)-'?
from Start - Settings - System - Device Info
thank-u

Help XDA2s CID preventing me from upgrading with official rom

Hi recently aquired an XDA2s from a friend. However, the firmware has been modified. Would like to restore it back to the original firmware as the SDIO card is not functional. Used the Official ROM, but gave a Country ID error with my device and refused to upgrade.
Have done some homework read the instructions as shown on this link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=228852.
However, i am stuck halfway. Here is my Devicetype.txt file description. Only managed to get the Devicetype as PH20B, Language ID = WWE. The rest of the info I can't really make out.
Also, when i use the file : xda2nbftool -t -x,
it gave a warning for ms_.nbf
The rest of the files such as nk.nba and radio.nbf were ignored. See pic.
How do i get the rest of the hex addresses for the radio and nk files ?
Could someone help to generate the final nbf files for me or help advise ?
The Official ROM file versions are here :
English ROM
ROM: 1.40.00 WWE
Date: 03/10/05
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol: 1337.42
ExtROM: 1.40.923 WWE
MMS: 2.0.0.21
BT: 1.0.0 Build 3900
Can anyone help ?
More information on my existing XDA2s firmware :
ROM Version : 5.04.09.WWE
ROM Date : 11/02/06
Radio Version : 1.15.00
Protocol Version : 1337.45
ExtROM Version : (Left Blank)
Never really heard of ROM Version 5.04.09.WWE. And SDIO Card is not detected. Would like to downgrade to the official ROM as i suspect that the SDIO Drivers are not installed in the existing ROM.
Also, i tried using XDAtools\OSimagetool to copy another XDA2s firmware to this XDA2s. But it failed to write generating an error in the pic. Status of Activesync is connected.

I'm afraid you have read the wrong homework. Those directions are for the Himalaya & Andes, not the angel.
What OS is on the phone now? That will help point to the correct directions needed to reflash the phone.
Flashing to 2003 from WM5 or 6 will vary depending on if the extended ROM has been resized, etc.
Check the angel getting started in the wiki (It's working now)

Oh ... thanks for pointing that out. To answer more questions :
It's running on a generic Windows mobile 5.0. I have a feeling that the Ext rom is already corrupted as the gsm portion of the phone is not functioning properly. I'll do a readup and revert my results. Thanks.
here's the thing. if you have a problem with the CID... all you have to do is find the exe file here named MAUpgradeUt_NoId.exe... use that instead of the exe provided in your Official Rom, i guess that would be WM2003se you are installing.
afaik, extrom havent have a thing to do with the GSM.
Thanks for the reply.
Thing now is that i am trying to downgrade from wm2005 to wm2003 (o2 official asian rom v1.42) But then looks like i am trying in vain.
Tried to do what is in the directions for wm2005->wm2003 by setting it to bootloader mode, doing a hardreset and using maupgrade_no_id with the official nk.nbf
But then it hangs while the check is being done. The xda2s screen shows v2.08 and serial. It changes to usb once the usb cable is plugged in.
Is there any other method i can do to downgrade it ?
