Which ROM?? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hi,
I have an Orange (UK) M2000, running the Qtek rom which was around months ago (1.40.00 WWE), Radio 1.13.00 and Ext Rom 1.40.110,
I've been busy and not been on the forums for a few months, but on my return I see lots of mention of WM2003 and 1.42 rom's....
What would people recommend upgrading to?
What are the outstanding issues in them?
I'm still having some long running problems with my current rom's - answering and not been able to hear the other person, calls not hanging up properly, and the bluetooth is rubbish with earpieces.
These questions are probably already answered, but theres so many long threads I dont know where to start or have the time
Thanks!!
Ian

Rom Question

Sorry for asking such fundamental questions but i am new to this site...
I have a Orange SPV M2000 (Blue Angel)
Can I ugrade the rom on this, what will the upgraded rom give me that i dont already have and how do i do this ?
I have looked at the rom pages and can not seam to find an Orange rom, does this matter ?
Sorry if these are basic questions, thank you for your time.
I also have a m2000, was wondering if it would be ok to install the new 1.4 asia O2 rom???
Mainly want it for WMP10 due to the streaming video etc.
Have red some mixed reports about the new rom, is it actually better than 1.31???
ive upgraded my m2000 using the wiki
im basically running the imate roms as im unsure on how to play with the extended rom.
everything went fine without a hitch!
I have an orange SPV M2000, I have successfully upgraded to Rom 1.40 with Radio Rom 1.13
I am a bit of an old hand doing this as i have had a pocket pc since the inception of a ipaq 3630 many moons ago.
What you ask do you get with the updates? well the main reason for upgrading is the increased reliability. far less soft reboots due to lockups.
and a nicer interface with WM10 especially since i have a media center PC and i can automatically synch my recorded TV to the device
anyone needs help with upgrade you can msn me at stuart b ***NOSPAM***@broadbandtap.co.uk
I can't download MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP ?????
HELP?

Newbie......want most stable 2003SE for QTEK 9090

At the moment I hate my 1 week old QTEK 9090.
To enable GPRS I normally have to reboot.
Sometimes to get Wifi and BT working I have to reboot.
GPRS drops out during a phone call
Sometimes I have to reboot when there is no sound at all on the device. Just no sound at all.
I have had it a week. Probably had to reboot it at least 3 times a day and the reboot is LONG!
Wow such a good concept let down by a HUGE number of bugs
What version rom and radio does your 9090 use? (start menu>settings>device information)
check here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Upgrades
for latest official rom release by your phones manufacturer. Possibly an upgrade is beneficial! Either that, or your phone may have hardware issues. Check your service provider for repair/rma services.
Good luck!
Thanks for that.
I will check. One issue I have a work around for....
I only lose sound when I close down Windows Media Player before I stop the music. Stop it first and then close and all is fine. That is a start.
I wish the ROM upgrades were simpler like on my Treo 650.....upgrade does a backup, flashes the new ROM and then brings back the data....
I found my device and rom on that link ta. So does that mean I have the latets for my device....
This is exactly my 9090:
Qtek WWE OP ID 1.40.00 1.40.147 1.12.00
Protocol version 1337.42
So I must have the latest ROM for my device...ripper.
Rom
Yeah you have the latest rom. when i 1st got my qtek i had some strange issues as well. what i ended up doing was to install a different rom (downgrade) and then install back to my rom (latest version). Hey presto my pda was running much smother.
Take your time to read all the info on the forum and most of all read wiki!! It takes some time to get used to wm2003se if your switching from palm. Have fun!!!
Thanks.
I have used many PPC devices as well. Last one was AXIM X50V. Before that was IPAQ 2210, IPAQ 1930.......
From the 2210 onwards everything was nice and stable.
Just this device.....!!
If I could get it to reliably start up GPRS and wireless every time I would be fine. BT is not such an issue.
Now I have solved my sound problem that is excellent.
good bye wm2003se
I will be really honest with you!!! when i was using my pda with wm2003se i had to soft reset my device 5-6 times a day....wifi being the biggest problem. needles to say it was critical to have a good backup software (Sprite). after being really frustrated i found this site....(thanks god)....know i use wm5 and guess what after 8 weeks i have not had to soft reset my device once. wm5 at the moment is not perfect but for me its stable and quick enough.
Cool....so moving my QTEK 9090 to WM5 what should I look out for? What are the issues? Will I get anything else? Lose anything?
Stability is 100% key for, but in terms of features, WM2003SE has everything i need. It just doesn't work all of the time.
What WM5 ROM do you recommend?
Oops I see Ivan....got a link?
So what is the best procedure to do the backup?
Can I easily go back to the original ROM?
Ivan 4.3
it really depends how you use your pda and what kind of functionality you want. for me speed and stability are essential. i dont use blue tooth to much just to transfer data...(no headset). as all users of wm5 will tell you there are pros and cons with each wm5 rom. my advice is to read the forums and pick a version that best suits your needs. in any case you will have to do some hacks to really bring the best out of your device on wm5. see my sig for what i have installed.
forgot to answer your question. to downgrade your device is much easier than to upgrade. before you go down this road please READ wiki carefully!!!

UK O2 Radio ROM - Recommendations

I've searched through the forum but can't seem to find any topics based on this question. Of recent months, I'm having terrible problems with;
- People finding it hard to hear me from time to time (as a result of me going 'very quiet'),
- Calls not ringing through (despite volume being turned up),
- Calls cutting off despite mid-signal levels which suddenly drop.
I'm guessing all these are faults with the Radio ROM. I'm currently using 02.07.10, any recommendations on what I should be upgrading too?
try each of these: 2.09.11, 2.40.11, 2.47.11, 2.61.11, 2.69.11, 2.71.11 to find best radio for your rom!
I am on O2 UK PAYG with my Wizard and I use radio rom 02.19.11. It works really well, and is the best I have found without other issues.
if you dont search....
First of all... search but now...
radio 2.19

radio 2.71

Because nobody said his own informatin...I will said it again this is just Radio upgrade but remember... you need to be CID/SIM unlocked before do anything stupid ok?
See you soon tell us what does it works for you ok?
See you soon!

Weird problem, poss radio issue?

I recently flashed my phone to Dutty's dual touch 6.1 rom (from hyperdragon 3) and ever since i did phone calls have been a bit hit & miss. Ill ring someone and they wont be able to hear me, or ill ring someone and from the minute it ''connects'' i get a sort of staticy noise even after i hang up. Only way to get rid of it is to do a soft reset.
Am i right in thinking this is probably to do with the radio being miss matched? never had the problem before so just wanted to check it is before i started playing around with it.
if it is the radio, is it just a matter of hunting around for a new radio that goes with duttys ROM & flashing it in a similar way to flashing a new rom?
thanks guys

MOD EDIT:
Please refrain from creating multiple posts about same topics. This is against xda forum rules. I have merged both of your threads together.
i also struggle to connect to any wifi networks. iv reflashed Dutty's latest 6.1 ROM (dual touch afaik) but it still has problems. I always thought dutty's Rom came with their own radio?
thanks guys
Wifi - unable to connect?
Last few days iv struggled to conect to any wifi network. When i select the network and try and connect the phone just sits there ''connecting'' until it tells me its unavaliable. iv tried on 2 different networks, both which have worked in the past.
It started when i flashed to Hyperdragon III ROM, then reflashing two of Dutty's ROM (latest 6.1 and dual touch) still hasnt sorted the problem.
Iv tried searching and couldnt find anything, and im getting a tad desperate tbh. I thought it could have been a problem with the radio, but both of duttys ROM come with their own radios and they have worked for me in the past.
This is a clean install, on Duttys latest 6.1 ROM and im lost for ideas!
Can anyone offer any advice? cheers guys

Lost ability to 'hear myself in speaker like landline' from rom / radio upgrade...

Hey guys.. Been a long time hermes flasher.. A buddy of mine boogered up the trackball of his blackberry and I fixed it, so he gave me his ATT Tilt (kaiser).
I noticed that when I first got it (i just stuck in my sim card and played with it for a bit) I could hear myself in the earpiece exactly like you can when you use any land line phone. I loved it, because it just felt more 'normal'. Well I upgraded to Sakajati IOLITE whatever rom and 1.65.something radio and have lost that feature... I've tried a few other roms and radios (1.70.x) and have had no luck regaining this. I even tried reverting to a standard ATT rom but no luck.
I'm surprised no one else has really mentioned this other than this thread....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358128
If anyone could enlighten me on this subject, by all means please do. It really enhanced the usability of the phone.
Moved as not ROM Development...
Normally it's a Radio issue, i'd try some others and i'm sure there are more threads of people who have no phone capability even after flashing the recommended radio's..
