I'm having a problem when someone calls, I can't hear them but they can hear me. Once I soft reset, everything's peachy. Just today I used my phone (pda2k with i-mate 1.40 rom) several times. Everything was fine. I turned the flight mode a couple times today. Then, I turned on flight mode, let the phone sit for a while and had an incoming call...I couldn't hear them. I told them to call back in 5 minutes. I tried calling another number but couldn't hear anything, did a reset and everything was fine.
This has happened before and after the 1.40 upgrade. Anyone have any reason why?? I've tried turning the flight mode off and back on, but that didn't help either.
Thanks,
Tom
This is an known issue in 1.40 ROMs, and currently there is no solution.
Dont blame ROM 1.40 because you also face this problem when using ROM 1.31
No solution so far but a trick's available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/posting.php?mode=reply&t=22239
Solution
Delete Run_BTTrayCE_10.lnk from your Windows\Startup folder and soft reset. Now you wont have the BT icon on the tray bar, but you wont have the no sound problem. If you still need bluetooth you can start it from the Windows directory as BTTrayCE.lnk.
Have fun.
I don't know if this can help to solve the problem but I wanted to mention that I never had this problems when I was using vodafone, but after I changed the sim card this probleme occured
Solution
The Solution is TURN ON your BLUETOOTH and then TURN OFF your bluetooth.

Unfortunately for me this actually triggers the no sound issue! My device is fine until the first time I use bluetooth then I can almost 100% guarantee that the next call will be silent.
As stated before with the 1.40.00 rom, this issue is certainly linked to the Bluetooth driver, perhaps on use it is switching audio to their driver for headset use and not restoring it?
Are you using sbp Plus, because this application has issue with bluetooth. Try to close all application not to minimize them when you are done with it. Use PocketNav or Magic Button for that.

Can you tell me if the BT has to be started like you described when you use Tom Tom? Normaly Tom Tom starts the BT automaticaly when it starts. Thanxx
hi
I get this problem a lot when I've had the phone on silent or vibrate and then change it back. I think it mainly happens when I receive a call after this rather than make an outgoing one but after the 1st call even outgoing ones have no sound.
It sounds daft but after a couple of months where I reset whenever it happened I just by chance hit the volume slider & sure enough the in call volume was turned right down. It's worth checking as it's an easy fix for me!!
Kill process
The solution for the problem could be to not run the BT driver. Anyway it's possible to delete from startup the dirver and to run when it need (for GPS or headset...).. But is there a way to kill the BT process without reset the machine (that without BT in the startup does't run the driver) whit a simple "TAP" ?
Thanx... M.
I hope I put my Reply on the right forum, but however...
I recently bought a QTEK9090 via Ebay and also I have the "I can't hear incoming calls..." problem.
Radio 1.06.02 and ROM 1.22.ooWWE. I understand from the postings in this forum that only a few (approx 10 to 15) have a problem and the rest of the world does NOT.
Strange but due to this I am really thinking to replace it by a P910I, as a phone should be able to pick-up calls. I haven't decided because the 9090 is a great machine.
Doesn't anybody have a clue, even not the manufacturer ??
Hi,
i had the same problem. Than i followed the advice above from someone deleting the autostart BT and using the btray.lnk instead. Absolutely fine since then.
greetings
Using the XDA IIs.
Until we get a proper fix, I am using the manual Run_BTTray method to turn on the BT if I need to use my headset.
So what I do is, (a) normally, no BT tray, (b) to use my BT headset, use Run_BTTray to turn on BT tray, (c) use ATBluetooth to actually turn on and off the BT radio, and finally (d) soft-reset to remove the BT Tray when I'm done.
I know it sounds complicated, but is ok after I assign the commands to my buttons (XDA IIs, plenty of buttons!).
What about the pda2k UniDirectional Patch.sa.cab available on the clubimate site.
I had this problem with ROM 1.40 as well as with the previous ROM. I have installed this patch. I have not had this unidirectional problem since then but I am not sure if this will work in the longer term as I have installed the upgraded ROM and the patch only a few days from now.
Love to hear comments of other members who have tried this patch.
Kind Regards

The patch works.... atleast I didnt get the no voice problem after the patch (touch wood  )
So, I've been searching, and this may be covered, but I seem to have the problem in REVERSE. I can hear the other party when using my BT headset, but they can't hear me! On one call, it'll work, then on another, it won't, and then it'll stop working. I have ROM v.1.40.00 and Radio 1.13.00 I don't know what I could do to fix this problem...
Any suggestion would be appreciated...Although I'm not keen about removing the BT tray from the startup, only to soft reset just to remove it...
Thanks,
Q
does this problem remains in the WM5 ?
I wouldn't know...I'm still on WM2003SE....BTW, I have a Siemens SX66.... Anyone? Please?
So it seems that so many people are enjoying there GPS enabled HTC trinity, there are so many people however (including me) are still afraid to do the move... still waiting for the official HTC ROM (who knows when is it gonna come, if it will come at all)....
My question is for those braves who upgraded already, would you guys please tell us about any problems you have with your devices since you upgraded ? speed, freezing, memory, odd behaviors, just any thing worth mentioning
Couple of minor things really..
Once in a while the start menu pops up without me pressing the corresponding buttons.
Once in a while after soft resetting, it does not start up the phone part. It keeps saying no service, but after a couple of flight mode on/off's it asks for my pin number and it starts up again.
For some reason, if I get a text message, and want to read it, the device shows the bottom part of the message first, most of the time being white and I have to scroll up to read the text.
But again, just minor things, apart from the last one, it might happen once a week or so...

I have none of these problems.
Only small problems I have discovered:
Timezone bug, the timezone switch back to -8 (in stead of +1).
I correct this by putting localtime and visitingtime on +1.
Alarm bug, the alarm only vibrate and rings ones.
It does not wake me up
Camera bug, the camera driver does not close the Ati driver for some reasons.
After I used the Camera I could not use CorePlayer with Ati playback until a softreset.
But I am very happy with the new rom.
It feels more stable to me then ROM 1.15 NLD.
Hi, I've updated my Trinity with this ROM.
All works fine, except that it doesn't work with my SIM card.
When I insert the SIM card, I got a message and the Network Wizard:"Your current operator (23433) is not supported. You should obtain an update from your device vendor.
Would you like to select another network provider?
Basically I can't connect to the network and the network wizard gave me only asian and australian operator I can choose from, but I'm on Orange and in UK!!
Please let me know what's wrong!
Cheers

Uhmm... first thing that is wrong is that you posted this in three threads!
From what others have said the network wizard can be removed.
If the phone works with an italian SIM (as you said somewhere else) but not with the Orange SIM then maybe the Orange SIM is very old and doesn't work in a 3G phone? Or was it working before the upgrade?
ok, you're right...sorry about that..
Anyway, my sim card works, I found out that my phone, accept all the cards but Orange!!
Is possible that a device can reject one operator SIM? do you know if exist a SIM lock only for one operator?
So far I have not noticed any negative effect which is said on the above (timezone, start button poping out, etc) thread. However, I found the improvements as per below:
1) Camera Zoom Function now works (was not working before)
2) Better battery life (finish charging in the morning, made one call & by evening still shows 100%)
3) More responsive (AKU3.3)
4) Of course the internal GPS works ;-)

You can possibly solve this by following the next steps.
Do a hard reset.
Follow the first usage screens (Time, alignment etc).
After you click Finish do a softreset.
Normally the device install some Dopod software after you click finish. By doing a softreset the dopod software is not installed. You warning/error is possible caused by Dopod software. It installes some extra not usefull (for European people) network software.

I use the normal Ati drivers at the moment.
With the older Ati drivers the camera did not work anymore.
Try the next steps:
Do a softreset.
-Open CorePlayer or BetaPlayer and play a video (using the Ati video playback)
-Close CorePlayer or BetaPlayer
-Start the camera
-Close the camera
-Open CorePlayer or BetaPlayer again.
-Now I got a green screen and doesn't see any video playback with the Ati drivers.
-Do a softreset
-Open CorePlayer or BetaPlayer and the video is working fine again (using Ati driver)
I am not the only one with this problem.
My problems with that rom:
1.
Your current operator (23433) is not supported. You should obtain an update from your device vendor.
Seems to be a "fake error msg".
2.
Tomtom 5.1 is starting very slowly and Gps signal isn't found immediately. Takes up to 5 minutes!!!
3.
Sometimes Active Sync starts invisible without plugging my trinity onto my pc.
4.
sometimes my contact list is invisible, pressing on start solves that problem.
5.
my clock does the +1 to -8 switch....
6. my transcend 4gb mini-sdhc card is sometimes there, sometimes not.... holy ****!
---------------------
good things:
no camera bug
gps working
i hope that a original htc update is being released very soon....

What you mean by that?
"current operator not supported"
I think this message is occuring because the ROM is expecting a set of suppliers from the original region for the ROM. When you use it in other regions, it's not finding these providers, but it sucessfully connects to your local provider instead. I've had this error message, and when it appears, there's an option to say "don't display this again". Once I did this, I've never seen it appears again, and my phone is working well with no problems.
Lee.
my problem with the gps rom is these
1) voice calls go to voicemail automatically, seems to happen after a sequence of programs that i use, cannot identify at the moment possibility, gps or wifi program, a soft reset fixs this , but it will come back again
2) gps fix sometimes can take quite some time about 5 minutes b4 getting a fix
Use PIE to go to https://pda.hkjc.com/pda/MainMenu.aspx and click any of the link (e.g. Horse Racing), you'll get "The link is improperly formatted" error. Seems like this is a bug in IE handling Javascript.
I've tried hard-resetting the machine (i.e. no additional application installed) and the same error happens.
I also used another D810 with an old ROM (1.17) and this problem couldn't be reproduced.
This is frustrating ....

I swear that my MP3 quality is GREATLY degraded after upgrading to the test rom. Used to be rich with plenty of bass when plugged into my car aux input when I was using HTC rom, now it sounds like I am listening through a tin can!!! Sounds like most of the lower frequencies are not being sent out of the audio output. Could this just be a connection problem in the jack and just coincidence that I had just put on the new rom?
Anyone else with the same experience?
1. No bass
2. Slow screen response when stylus is constantly on it. ie play games like skyforce.
3. When bluetooth is on, unit randomly turns on and stays on.
Eagerly awaiting a rom upgrade.
Good for most part
Occasionally takes long time to find gps.
Once connected works great.
Sometimes have to soft reset after using gps software.
I use my external Bluetooth when I use TOM TOM. Its a hell of a lot quicker and easier.
I posted the problem in another thread yet (as a reply). I open a new thread because the problem is again here unfortunately.
The problem first occured after the installation of the TomTom app.
After installing and downloading and installing the included map everything works fine. But then I connect the TyTN II to the PC and the TomTom Home application. The app was searching for updates for the installed TomTom Navigator. It brings up the message that a update is available, it was the "phone database - connect2internet" update. And now that's the strange and very annoying part: After installing the update, the phone doesn't play ANY kind of ringtone on an incoming call and the ringtones are very low.
Neither removing the TomTom app nor doing a soft reset solved the problem. After a masterreset everything was fine again. I installed then all apps (except TomTom) needed again and did a backup with Sprite Backup. After this I installed the TomTom Navigator again with the update... same problem! No ringtones on incoming calls. I did then a restore and all was ok again.
But this evening I called me myself and no ringtone was played. That's so annoying. A phone should really not have such problems. It seems that the problem is not TomTom dependent. I have these apps installed:
-TomTom Navigator
-Sprite Software Sprite Backup
-PocketCM Keyboard
-Pocket eSword
-Microsoft SQLE 2.0
-Mobipocket.com Reader
-PocketCM Contacts 0.15
-Saman SMSDeliveryReceiptFix
-MohairSofa Calendar+ Today Plugin
I hope that you can help me, I really don't know what I should do anymore.
Thank you very much in advance

What happened with your settings? Are they still "normal", or can you see that the volume has changed to mute for example?
I've heard some people having problems with HTC Home changing profile settings to auto.

The settings are normal as they should be. It's also strange, that the ringvolume is much lower now than before when trying to play a ringtone in the settings. (The volume in the settings is the same).

You seem to tbe the only tomtom home user who is having this problem. So lets start at the beginning:
1) When you test the device, is it definitely in normal/ringer profile?
2) What have you set incoming calls to do in start, settings, sounds and notifications, notifications tab?
3) If both above are correct, does the phone vibrate if you change them to vibrate options?

1) Yes, there is the normal profile activated
2) There are all the normal settings (manufacturer settings)
3) This one I can't check now becuase I did a masterreset already
The strange thing too, is that the ring volume is suddenly very low. This occurs at the same time with the no ringtone on incoming calls problem.
It seems that the problem is not related with the TomTom. Maybe with another app like PocketCM, Keyboard CM or ???
Thank you again and best regards
JCD.SAG
Only way to find out is to take them off, then install tom tom and then test the device. If all is well, then add back one program at a time and test.
You may actually find that instaling them in a different order fixes it (some early WM6 roms would only allow some apps to work if you installed them after certain others and before yet more).
Thank you again for you replies. Yesterday on midday the problem was here again, no ringtones on incoming calls. Not even the restore of a backup made previously helped. One day before the restore could solve the problem.
I decided in agreement with the HTC Support and the service centre to send the device to the service center for repair. I really hope that they can solve the problem.

I as well am having this problem! It is extremely annoying as I have already taken the phone back and had it replaced and now the new one is doing the same thing.
I also had TomTom installed though?
Don't update to the newest TOMTOM using the Home Application. The update isnt even for the TYTN II, it's for other devices that need it. My TOMTOM version is 6.010 (7720) GPS Driver v1.20 MAP USA and CANADA v650.1109 - v675.1409
Everything works perfect including Trafic and I do not use the TOMTOM HOME for the fact that I do not need any sh-tware on my PC.

Fixing Ringtones
I had this problem and worked out how to fix it.
Look at the following Reg Key (change midifile to mp3file for mp3 issues)
Delete any EventSoundHandlers already in place and add this Key.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\midifile\Shellex\EventSoundHandlers\{245F94CF-DD9C-46F9-B4C8-D2B14A877893}]
@="XME EventSound Player"
Problem fixed.

Question -- I have TomTom on my Tilt ... it installs fine, and works fine ... however each time I start it up the sound is turned off .. .and I have to touch the screen, turn on the sound twice before the change in settings "sticks" and I get the voice giving me directions.
Any thoughts how I can fix this?
Mine does the exact same thing, otherwise it works perfectly. Running XDA Live 1.1 ROM...
That is the default function. You must always activate the sound after starting.

hate to tell you guys, but it's not the default. The sound is on when I fire up Tom Tom on my Tilt, I've never had any issue nor had to go into settings to turn it on before. Are you guys using a ROM other then the original one?
Default off on both my HK Kaiser & my AT&T Tilt. Don't know what to tell you.
Solution that works for me!
I have found that all I have to do is to rotate the volume wheel on the side of my Tilt and the sound gets turned on without having to go through the preferences menu. It will repeat the last direction when you do this but it doesn't bother me too much and it lets me know that the sound is enabled.
The same issues occur with the previous version 6.03
And on other PPCs as well (eg IPAQ hw6910).
But it does not happen always, so I deduce it's related to conflicts with other softwares.
And it certainly isn't a feature, as a previous poster suggested.
TT as a default always starts with sound ON.

I didn't have this problem until about 30 minutes ago, I received the Carcomm Cradle I ordered for the car, installed it, tried out TomTom and now I have the same problem as you.
Are any of you using a Carcomm Cradle?
The only other thing I changed before the sound problem is I bought a "Veripart 3-in-1 Converter HTC ExtUSB" so I can charge the PDA and listen to music using the 3,5 mm jack port.
I also have exactly the same problem, and solve it with the volume wheel. I also had this problem on my Hermes.
TomTom 'fixes'
FWIW, not sure why, but the volume wheel never solves my problem in a predictable fashion, so I've went and found the following apps that make things easier:
TomTom Menu Builder -- Change the location of where the 'Turn on sound' or any button shows up in the menu for faster access. e.g., I've placed my 'Turn on sound' button on page 1 with 'Navigate to' and 'exit application'. The menu also allows you to enable all sorts of 'hidden' menus, with the most useful being the voice preferences menu, which lets you choose how verbose the speaker is. Alternatively, if you're not up to installing the menu builder, you could download my TomTom menu (see attached). Either way, place TomTom.mnu in \TomTom\SdkRegistry.
TomTom Starter -- Make your phone volume max and turn off all notification popups before starting TomTom. Reverses volume and notification changes after exiting TomTom. Great for when you forget that your phone is on vibrate or at a low sound setting.
BTW, its not the ROM that is the problem, it most likely has to do with TomTom. I'm using 6.03, non-taster edition.

Thanks michi123, I seem to recall reading about this in another thread. However, that's still yet another application (comm manager) and button I need to press before starting TomTom.
It's much easier for me to use the two applications I've included, as I'll need to go into the menu anyway to enter my navigation point and should I forget to turn off vibrate or crank up my volume, TomTomStarter fixes that for me...

Excellent! That works. And unless you have changed the functionality of your end button (like in the xda ROM) it is pretty quick to hold down the red end button (to close all data connections) before opening TomTom.
But it's not very effective when you're using a converged device, right?
I mean, would you turn off your phone every time you'd want to load TT, and then have to remember to turn it back on (while still inside TT)?

All holding down the end key does is cancel all active data connections .. it does not "turn off" the phone (unless you happen to be on a call). So yes, if you want to tun TT when you are on the phone, this solution will not work, but if you want to run TT when you are not actively speaking, holding down the end key first solves the sound problem. Then, you can still make and receive calls and, for that matter, you can still use data programs too, all with TT running.
Very useful thread, I've just updated mine and my G/Fs TyTns, we both have exactly the same ROM and RADIO, hers starts with Volume on, Mine starts with Volume off, the only real difference is that we're on different service providers, we both have MS ActiveSync running against our different corporate Exchange servers, and I have reduced my connectivity to GPRS to save battery. Will give the Tweaker app a go and see what happens. Sh
Alex. What version of tomtom are you running. I cannot get the menu file to work with my version 6.032(8351) no taster version.
Hi guys,
I just wanted to post on here cos I noticed some information that I didn’t agree with and also I have tested what others have said and it works so I thought I would say thankyou in one breath and bugger in another.
I have tested TomTom 6.031 SDK version on a HTC TyTN2, Glofiish, HP614c, HTC p3300 and a HTC Cruise and all of them start TomTom with the sound muted if they have a data connection active!
Sound is not muted at start-up if there is no data connection. This is great to know as I was baffled by it all but it also causes me a pain in that I need the data connection all the time, so I think its a mistake if TomTom themselves presume otherwise.
I have a XDA Orbit 2 on order but I am guessing it will be the same with that. I dont remember this issue with Windows Mobile 5, but it happens for sure on 6.
Also I have an issue with the 6.031 SDK and the unmute function call doesn’t appear to work!
Ho hum... so many devices with the same issue....
Ram
I have to admit I made a slight error in my statement above, I hadn’t tried it on the HTC p3300 and got the same result, it would appear that the HTC p3300 is the only device out of the many I have tried that doesn’t switch to silent when loading TomTom while a data connection is active.
I am trying to work out why this is as I am running the same software installation on all the devices.
Ok I have a brand new kayser and I have 2 newbie questions about this model and one envolving all mobiles. Here we go:
1. I have the original vodafone ROM, when i play mp3's (wether on the MP ou Audio Manager) and press the power button (in order to turn off the screen) the music stop's, i mean, it doesnt keep playing... My older prophet and tytn I had this function of powering off the screen but the music would still play. Is this a ROM issue or hardware issue?
2. I've tried almost everything on the phone, except the GPS module, that I dont know if it works. Is there a program i can install just to pick up some satellites and see if it works? (i dont want tomtom and igo whatever because i dont have an sd card big enough for them )
Now the general porpuse one. My friend with an HTC Prophet had a problem with its phone, the vibration suddenly stoped working. We took it to the warranty and they repaired it. On the service point he was told that it had happened due to the vibrations the phone was put on, i mean, when hes driving he has that support on the windshield to put the PDA working as a GPS. It is true that it gets some vibration from driving and the car engine itself... but can this cause these king of problems?

1. try to use another player, there are a lot of them that are better then the default ones(wmp, audiomanager)
2. many apps like: gps test, gps tool, ....
3. I think there are thousands of people that are using their phones like your friend and they havent got problems with vibration. So for me its just a absurdity.

Which ones do you recommend? Does this happen with you? (the situation i mentioned?)
1. pressing the power button dont just blank the screen
it suspect the whole device to save power so yes it stops
programs
most players got options to blank screen when listning to music
some players does seem to be able to run while in suspend mode
just like the clock

I like Pocket music bundle, but its not a freeware. There is an option to play the music after hitting the power button.
I didnt realize that it stops playing music when u put the phone to sleep mode, so yes its happing to me also.
TCPMP or coreplayer. There's an option to map a button to turn screen off.
Two silly answers

Well my HTC branded TyTN II with original WM 6.0 ROM as per sig and with default settings keeps playing mp3s when the screen is blanked in this way so all I can suggest is it may be due to a configuration change made or the ROM itself. If you cant find any config changes, have a look at additional files put on your storage card by WMP in your music folder. When I was using WM 6.1 I found that version of WMP put a file associated with powersaving in there, not sure about the vodafone ROM though. WM 6.0 keeps it's own files in the right place and out of my music folder.

If you have data capability & don't mind paying for the data, Google Maps or MS Live Search are free. Personally I prefer Tomtom Navigator 6.032 (HTC version) but I found WM 6.0 and it's radios work far better than WM 6.1 for GPS and Tomtoms UK tech support line told me TTN 6 wasn't supported under WM 6.1, only WM 6.0! Don't know about the last issue and I suspect the best person to comment with knowledge about the cause of the problem and how to stop it recurring, would have been the tech staff who fixed it.
