I am new in this so need a bit more help please!
After read many and many of the articles, I decided to go ahead with the upgrading. I downloaded the Modified_XDA_IIi_Upgrade_v1.11.162_Radio_1.04.rar and extract it into a folder, as follow the instructions by clicking the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe. Doesn't matter how many time I clicked it just keep saying "The application has failed to start because RUU.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.". I have searched and searched just can not find anything about this. PLEASE Help!!
Thank you very much
Its my fault!!
I got it sorted, please ignore me!!

Hi folks,
I just found this forum a few days ago while searcing to update my MDA3.
I wanted to get started according to the WIKI upgrade from WinMobie2003SE to WM6.
But I'm having trouble from the beginning on...
I have the BlueAngel (MDA3) with the camera. Operatin-System is WinMobile2003SE.
I've downloaded "xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB" and installed. Can't get further. If I try to run "unhide", I get an error. I have a German version, so the error-description is German too. But it's something like: "unlockextrom or one of the components could not be found. Make sure path and filename are right and also make sure that all needed libaries are available.
Can somebody help me with this, please?
Is there really nobody who can give me a hint?
I'm still stuck.
I hope my mistake is not that stupid that nobody can help me because you're all loving?
But I've read in the WiKi: If it doesn't wok: Read again: It works.
I did so - but still the same trouble.
I have attached a file for you, unzip it and give it try, it should solve your unlock problem.
whats up guys?
I seem to be having a problem updating my rom
I have tried numerous ROMs from the site, but for some reason it always gives me a error when I attempt to download it.
Has anyone heard of this problem or can hand me any advice?
Thanks A lot
-Chris
What's up 2 u.
Have you read the Wiki or any of the stickies? If not, before you go any further, and make a paperweight of you device, you may want to read a little. You can't just slap a new ROM on there. You first need to prepare the phone. Lucky for you your device failed instead of breaking. Seems the phone is smarter than the owner.
"...the phone is smarter than the owner"
there is no need to be condescending, a simple answer leading me to the right direction would have sufficed.
I would thank you for your help, but I cant thank a person with a attitude as demeaning as yours....now my advice to you would be to grow up.
ciao

i got the same replies for some of the "senior members" on here, it's normal.
You say, you get an error while "downloading?!". do you mean, downloading the roms from the mirrors or an error while flashing the rom. If it's during the update, what error exactly?
I flashed my phone the first time last tuesday (NoThrill Rom, Hardspl, new radio) with the help of the wiki. To save you the work searching the wiki pages
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=KaiserROM_FlashingFAQ
1.) How to backup your old Rom for warranty return http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1586817
or download the right rom here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_ROMs
2.)Read through the HardSPL threads (if you don't understand it, read several times) http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=SPL Questions? and choose the right HardSPL version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396922
(Searching for JumpSPL?? it's in the attachment of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354061 )
3.) Read through the rom flashing process http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=KaiserIntroductionToROM_Flashing
4.) choose a rom here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Cooked_ROMs or from the rom developement board in the forum and flash it
5.) Check if you need a new radio (read through the thread for your rom) if you experience any problems
This is how i've done it. Took me about 5 or 6 hours for everything. If you have any problems with the flashing, all problems are known and there are threads about it
Good Luck with your phone.
Hey, thanks a lot.
Its a communication error during the update.
You have been really helpful with those links, I appreciate the time you took to reply.
have a good day.

Please keep in mind im a complete newb to smart phone. I just got my ATT tilt, and I want to do some mod to it. My phone comes with WindowsMobile 6.1. I download some .cab files and tried to open. Some opened and some didn't, so my phone is in kind of a mess right now. What should I do? I want to completely reformat my phone if possible. Should I stay with wm6.1 or what else should I do? Please keep the post as simple as possible, because I am very new to the smartphone language. Thanks.

To "Format" your phone back to the Factory Settings your should perform a "Hard Reset". More info can be found in the Wiki here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/Kaiser_Resets
Please take your time to familiarise your self with the wiki (Espicially the HTC_Kiaser page and what it links to).
Thanks
Dave
Take the time to read through the wiki and the forums related to your device. There is a wealth of information that can not be summarized in a few paragraphs.
It is well worth your time to be patient and read the material provided here.
Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone can help. I cant seem to run the BlackstoneRUUWrapper.exe file as it crashes with "the application failed to initialize properly" error 0xc000007b. I have this problem on lauching differnet copies BlackstoneRUUWrapper.exe and versions that have worked in the past.
The HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe also fails with the same error. I have tried the phone in both boot loader and active sync. To be honest I dont think the phone is the problem.
I have searched these forms and people have mentioned this error but no solutions are present to my knowledge.
The only thing that I've found on google is a possible virus and I have scanned my system and found nothing. I may try another AV product.
Any help would be a great help.
Many thanks
James

Have u installed the .net framework??
Yes, I've upgraded roms using the wrapper from the machine in the past.
You'll probably get better help here
It was a virus, seems ESET wasnt upto the job but mcafee was.
Thanks
In future try searching and then posting in relevent thread. No need to create new thread when this one already exists.

I want to say thanks first for the help so far.
So I finally managed to hardspl but that was it unfortunatly.
Your dummies guide is quite good, but for someone not technical at all and normally not into handy programming etc???
HSPL3 is OK I have it.
As of HSPL4 I am stuck: I ran the the blackstone rapper with the nbh file, also ok
I do the hard reset and than I still have my old SFR etc on the phone (I have also the problem with the colours, but that is the least problem at the time)
I than tried to flash an other rom (Miri) and there I get error 240 (file open)
So I thought I do the hardreset again (bootloader showed than my old version, do not ask me why) I did everything again and I am stuck again.
After two days it starts being quite frustrating I must admit but i stay full of hope for your help
Thanks again

As I told you yesterday, please post your questions in the correct place. You have obviously read the Dummies Guide, so please post your question in that thread and do not start your third new thread. This thread will be closed as soon as the moderators find it.
If you have the colour problem your hspl was obviously not successful, are you sure that you did not try uspl, which may explain why your old spl is back?. In bootloader mode what spl is showing? It needs to show 1.56.Olinex (see picture)
ERROR [240] : FILE OPEN
When this error message appears, check whether the downloaded .nbh image is placed in the same directory as the RUUWrapper. If, for some unknown reason, you find that the ROM image is not located in the RUU folder, you have to download the RUU and retry again. Check that the contents of the folder is a CustomRUU.exe file and an .nbh file.

If you post in the right place I'll try my best to talk you through the process, it's really not that difficult.
Please post your query within Dummies guide thread and myself or someone else will answer your query.
Please try and abide by forum rules in future. No need for new thread. This has now been your 3rd unnecessary thread. Consider this your first and last warning. Failure to comply with forum rules will result in a temporary ban!!
