Bootloader Screen - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hello,
I need some expert help to get my XDA IIs out of bootloader.
I attempted to update ROM and got stuck in Bootloader.
I followed directions posted on this forum to the letter:
Make sure your device or cradle is connected directly to your computer (so no hubs!)
Disconnect the device from the PC, or remove from cradle
Perform a "hard reset" on the device (screen will flicker but nothing will change)
Kill the BaUpgradeUt.exe program on your PC by using Window's Task Manager (CRTL+ALT+DEL)
Kill the wcesscom.exe program on your PC by using Window's Task Manager (this is the ActiveSync application)
Place the device back in it's cradle
Restart the upgrade program from your PC (double-click BaUpgradeUt.exe)
Still No JOY !!! Any suggestions ?

Solution to Upgrade..?
Hi, have you looked at this properly..?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.42.00_Upgrade
Or - If you're trying to update to WM5..
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_5.1.1700_build_14343_Upgrade
Then you should be ok.. Take a breather, start again..
Let me know how you get on..?
Cheers,

Stuck in Bootloader Screen
Mr Philly,
Thank you very much for your help, however I followed the links you gave me, and still have no joy.
When I run the BaUpgradeUt.exe I get a "connection error" saying check the physical connection between the phone and the computer. Also, BaUpgradeUt seems to close active sync once launched. The program then freezes unless I reopen active sync. I then get the connection error.
When I run the MaUpgradeUt.exe I get to the upgrade screen telling you that you are upgrading from ... to ... however the fields listing the various ROM versions etc.. are blank. If I click on upgrade, I get an error 150 saying "not designed for your device, please get proper ROM upgrade utility."
Any new suggestions for me ?
Missing my XDA very much as I use it a lot.
Thanks

I figured out the problem. It seems that the PDA was not responding to the ROM upgrade because the SD Card was in place. Origionally I thought this to be of no consequence as I only have a "dummy" card in the slot. I was wrong. Once I removed the Card everything went as it was supposed to.

Stuck on bootloader

Problem Updating the XDAIIs New Rom

Dear All
I would like to have some urgent help on this one. I have downloaded the new Rom Update for my XDAIIs. I have successfully started the ROM update. I reached the screen when it prompted me with the device information and I clicked on UPDATE to start the process. My XDA screen went to Black with the USB indication ...and v2.06 indicated below. Nothing happened and the wizard did not proceed with any further indication except "Checking the information in your device ..." etc...It froze on this and I had to restart my PC. Now my XDAIIs is remaining on the same blacked out screen and won't boot to its previous room if I do a soft or hard reset. Have I "Killed" my XDAIIs? Is there anything I did wrong? Pls HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
Ashraf
No Problem..
1. Do a soft reset (the screen will just blik once and still remain blank)
2. Put the device in cradle/USB
3. ReDo your upgrading procedure by double clicking the upgrade file
It should work then... good luck
same
Guys,
I have the same problem only a little more stupidity on my part, check it out at - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=130797#130797
As you can see kumar00455 your advice doesn't work in my situation
any other help ??

Kumar
Thanks pal !
I've been able to sort out the problem. I actually needed to stop the Active Sync application on my PC so that the upgrade wizard could connect to the XDAIIs via USB and perform the update. It will not work if the Active Sync task is still running as a process.
After running the app again, the upgrade worked seamlessly without any glitch...!!!
Thanks for your support.

PDA2K dead.

I have a I-mate PDA2K with ROM 1.12 ITA and while I was to install the 1.40 ITA ROM downloaded from www.clubimate.com, the screen of my pocket pc became black, active sync has closed and the program to update the ROM is remained blocked in checking the hardware.
Now the pocket pc present only the notice "Serial v. 2.06" and do not respond if I press the on/off button.
How can I reinstall the system with the old ROM or the new ROM???
Active Sync does not see the pda2k.
Please, help me!!!!!
Thanks and sorry for my english.
Best regards,
Enrico.
did the flash fail halfway through? if it never started you should be able to just reset it and be back to normal.. try to put it into bootloader manually "power+record+reset" and you'll get the serial 2.07 screen, then dock it in your crable and it should say USB 2.07 and your PC recognize it.. run the flash again
No, I have pressed "power + record + reset" and inserted the pda2k in the craddle, but the notice is "serial v2.06" and not appear "usb v2.06" adn the program to flash the rom notice "Error 101: connection error" because not see the device.
Have you ever changed the Sync Cable? There would be some probs with your cable!!!
I tried to remove and then replace the battery and I inserted the pda2k in the cradle. Now the notice is "USB v2.06", I tried to reinstall the ROM tonight but the program is remained blocked with the notice "checking the information on your device" for all the night and the Active Sync crashed. Today I detached the device and the "error 101: connection error" appear.
How can I install the ROM directly?
I'm having the same problem
The cradle is ok for sure
but no connection to activesync
help is needed
Best regards
Paulo
WOW ... WOW ... WOW ... WOW
I resolved my problem!!!!!
I noted that the file downloaded from the original website clubimate is composed from varied file inside.
One of these is for checking hardware device and one of these is for upgrade the device.
But the file downloaded is an executable file complete and when I executed this, the program was blocked during the checking.
Now I think that if I unpack the exe file with winzip in a directory and I execute the only file to upgrade the ROM, I avoid to do the check of the pda2k and maybe it function.
This is the solution.
The upgrade started and now I have my pda2k like first one.
I hope it is of help for other.
Bye and thanks at all.
Enrico

any one can help me please
Until the new version of WMDC is released with fixes, I suggest you use XP computer to do upgrade.
New WMDC v.6.1 coming soon: http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/w...ows-mobile-device-center-6-1-coming-soon.aspx
The XP computer needs to have Active Sync 4.5 installed. Reboot xp computer before starting, to clear any existing syncs. Delete current sync profile on Trin. Connect to pc via usb as usual, let ASync run, but cancel when it tries any profile, you are left as: Guest sync
You should be connected now. Upgrade rom file should be extracted in explorer, e.g., so you can see all files. Run RUU wrapper or ROMUpgrade exe, depending on rom you're using.
If you go through process, & get error message. Don't disconnect Trinity. Close that page & start again. It should work the 2nd time. When it's working, you will see the boot screen, color bars & at bottom usb notation. (If it says serial, you'll have to, unhook usb connection, reboot computer, re-sync to guest status, & start again.) Then the update screen on Trin will show % bar, if process is working correctly.
If you still get error message, then check Trinity Wiki info as rom upgrade problem FAQ is there. I'll assume your Trin is unlocked. Check boot screen on Trin to see boot loader info. Wiki explains how.
Also: Use SSPL software Bootloader solution from "Des" - this loader ignores the CID and the upgrade will work also with wrong CID. See also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293632
If you still have problem, come back here & give info:
1. What rom is currently on Trin? What radio?
2. Did you buy an unlocked Trin? Exactly, what device do you have?
3. What wm6 rom do you want to upgrade to?

Big Problem?

I was performing the radio update on my MDAIII and now he hangs in the bootloader with USB in the upper middle und 2.08 in the under middle. All resets won`t bring it back to life. If I try to reinstall the update all I get is a blank message screen (update from version to version) in my Vista. How can I get out of there.
I did everything what was stated here
The original BAUpgradeUT won`t find my device. The MAUpgradeUt_noID.exe gives me the blank screen with the update from to screen.

I'm using a Vista PC.
After the Radio update to 1.15 the error described above is not to go away yet.
What to do, I'm nearly in tears.
Finally I got it back but with an old Romupdate from T-Online. Is there someone who got the QTC 9090 update (latest one)
That was fast..
im glad you solved your problem.
i think someone here has it.
just post what you need and make it as a title for others to read in the digest.
Im not a expert but is vista the problem??
Most likely.
Failed MDA II flash with vista notebook
Hello everybody,
I just read this thread in hope to find a solution for my problem, which is quite similar to the one described here initially.
I got a used MDA III with T_Mobile ROM. Since I'm a customer with O2, I wanted to change the ROM to O2 as well. I followed the directions given in an other thread here (don't have the link just now) and during the flashing, the flash application suddenly had no connection to my MDA III anymore. It was securely settled in its craddle an connected to my laptop via USB. Now my MDA III is stuck in Bootloader Mode with USB v2.07 displayed on the screen.
Each retry of installing either the O2 or the T_Mobile ROM now meet with the error 101: no connection. I read here that you managed to update successfully with a vista pc. Thus I wanted to ask, how you did that since I just don't seem to find the reason for the connection failing each time.
Here is what i tried to establish connection so far:
* disabled virus scanner & firewall
* unplugged the mda III and plugged it in again. It was recognized as a new device but that didn't help the connection issue
Could you please post what you did to make the update work under vista? Help would be greatly appreciated

Try on computer with Windows XP and kill activesynk (wcecomm.exe on taskmanager/processes)
Maybe it will work. If u cant flash O2 ROM try to use "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe". On my Qtek 9090 allways flash using this APPS and allways work.
U can try too format device first, put it on candle and use "mtty1.42.exe". On XP, kill active sync, and open mtty1.42.exe and select port USB and put OK. Do "Enter" on command and should appear USB>. After this write Task 28. This will format all your PC. Try install SO after this. This command delete all files on PPC. I have attach files that you maybe need.
thankfor the tipp and sorry for my late reply. Since I have no XP PC available i tried the mtty1.42.exe on my vista notebook. When i run it however, it only lists com port 1-3, no usb port. Do i have to make a special configuration on vista for it to work?
Thanks in advance,

In vista i dont know...sorry for my late reply too.... in XP u must kill ActiveSync process called wincecom.exe. in vista, maybe u have to kill the Windows Mobile Device Center....i dont know...
Dont forget, put the Qtek 9090 in Boot Loader Mode (Pressing Power Button + Record Button + Reset), maybe will appear USB and u can format the device.
If this does not work, try on Windows XP....Find a friend with Windows XP and ask him to use his PC only to do that.
Maybe somebody in forum have the Windows Vista and can help u....
Sorry my terrible english....

Try this
Downlaod the XDA IIs .exe file and run it - no need to put into USB mode
http://www.o2online.ie/wps/wcm/conn...es+&+accessories/Xda+Range/Software+upgrades/
this should reset to factory default (o2)
it runs on vista too

Is HARDSPL an absolute requirement?

I am trying to HARDSPL my Tilt 2 and keeping getting not connected errors [264]. I have tried auto and manual. I placed the CAB file on the device and re-ran. I tried it in Win 7 and XP Mode. The deivce is connected, I can browse files thru the PC, Outlook is syncing, etc...
What will happen if I flash a new ROM without HARDSPL?

It won't flash at all.
Make sure you're running the file as administrator, other than that I have no idea what else you can try.
Hope this helps.
search for "enablerapinew.cab" and install
You need to post in the HardSPL thread, if you are having trouble with HardSPL
Thanks for the replies. I am making progress, but still not there.
I already had the enablerapinew.cab installed and I am using the manual flash method.
I "ran as admin" and it started the flash process. This time I got progress bars on-screen and on the device, but both stayed stuck at 0% until the flash utility timed out and walked me thru the recovery process.
I am using Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1.6965. It shows connected but drops the connection when the flash process starts. I assume this normal.
Any other suggestions.

Hmm at least I helped a little, try updating the Device Centre to the newest, which I believe you acually.
A couple more things to try, one you need an active internet connection (can only assume you have this) and I found this on the HardSPL thread...
"if you get error msg for hard-spl program where it can not connect to device than use the cab that the hardspl program asks you to install on device: especially for tilt2 users.
Once you install the cab (on device), rerun the hard-spl program. DO NOT freak out as your device completely powers off. leave the usb cable plugged into device and computer and follow onscreen prompts."
Also make sure your radio is on (aka you have signal on your phone/it's not in airplane mode) and the basics such as the cable and the USB the device is plugged in to.
Once again, hope this helps
Problem soved. I published my answer in the Hard SPL thread.
