Hi Guys
I have the vodafone rom for the BA which ends with *.nb1.
I have tried to get it onto the SD card using xdatools but it always errors out saying not able to read the sector. Is there another way of putting this onto the SD card so i can flash my BA from the SD card in bootloader mode.
Thanks
Lordao
Hallo,
i cooked many ROMs and every time i try to flash using SD Card (8GB), but without any sucess, it does not find any ROM to flash!
I renamed the cooked ROM to blacimg.nbh (also tried blackimg.nbh), copy to SD Card, Rebo0t into Bootloader mode (Power + Volume Down), it reboots and search for ROM then change to serial (usb)
I used search but no answer found
What am i doing wrong?

Which file did you rename to blacimg.nbh (that's correct and not blackimg.nbh)? Did you save it to the root of the sd card as suggested (although mine is in a folder and this also works)? Because the steps you are describing are correct and should work (work like that for me). The only thing I can think is that there is possibly something wrong with the file you are using. Is it one of your own cooked roms?

Yes, i cook my own clean ROMs, the ruu_signned.nbh is renamed to blacimg.nbh and is directly copyed to the root of my SD Card
I do not know what is wrong!

faced the same prob long time ago with a old 4 Gb card...no matter what i've did was not able to flash. However I sugest to reformat your sd card (FAT 32 and not on your pc/laptop, do it with your phone) and then try again after formating, altough it may not help. to be sure that you are not doing wrong try another SD card if possible.
Another option to check your self is flashing with ActiveSync after formating.
Good Luck
p.s. It seems this is happening often if you used your SD card in another device
I'd a similar problem while flashing on my old P3300
To avoid the problem, I'm using a 1gb micro sd dedicate only to rom flashing but with a single partition of 256MB.
dunno if this could help u
cheers
I was having exactly same problem today when I tried to flash - mine's 8gb mini SD which came as a part of package from Orange, U.K.. I ended up using normal USB cable but I was wondering why it didn't work...

Fashing with some big SD >4gb could generate some issue. Use one small dedicated to that and format it first in Fat32.
Hi Carl, thanks for your advice - it actually worked like a charm. I didn't really thing 8gb would cause this problem. I used just a plain 2gb ScanDisk card, formatted in Fat 32 and put only blacimg.nbh following normal procedures - thank you very much again!
My 2 cents
I had a similar problem not long ago with my 8Gb Micro SD that came with the card. I'd re-formatted it via the PC and altered the default settings based on a thread I read on here which was supposed to speed up access to the card. If I remember correctly it was changing the default allocation size.
Long story short, reformatted back to default settings and I was able to flash again from SD. IMO it's moreso the format of the card, not so much it's size as I never had a problem with flashing from card before tweaking it's format settings.
SD Card
I always flash from my SD card.
My latest card is a 16Gb class4 SanDisk, and I must have flashed more than 50 times from this. I always put my blacimg.nbh file in the root of the card.
Size of the card is not important, it just have to be formated in FAT32.
There are several reports that some brands of card do not work very well with Windows Mobile.
One time I purchased a Kingston card that simply would not work.
Hello,
Everything's been peachy on my G1 for quite some time. I'm rooted running Super D's latest normal ROM. My phone died the other night while I was out. Next morning I booted my phone up and everything was gone. I used app's to SD so there was nothing on my phone, and the error message "SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem". I've searched, yes searched here, google, and elsewhere. I've tried reformatting my SD cards in FAT32 again nothing worked. Every SD card I put in the phone it says the same thing. Factory Data Reset it and everything. My card reader reads every SD I put into my phone.
Is there a fix? What I've been trying to do is flash a different zip onto my phone directly though USB in recovery to see if that's the problem and no success even getting one flashed on.
Thanks for your help!

Edit:
Tested all of my SD cards that weren't working in my G1 on my brothers G1 and everything works perfectly fine? Could it be my ROM?
Anyone? I've tried about everything I could possibly think of. Does anyone know how to flash a zip without an sd card present?
I think your SD Card is corrupted, somehow.
What recovery do you have?
What OS do you have, (it would make things easier if you had linux, or could use a ubuntu live disk).
If you can use ubuntu, with a card reader see if you can recover any files at first.
Then use gparted to re-make the partitions on your sd card.
I've got W7U. In my recovery screen it says Build: RA-dream-v1.5.2. My SD Cards read perfectly fine with a card reader and in another G1. So its def. something with my phone or the ROM.

I have the same problem
my phone is samsung i5700
lol..
I'm trying brush official rom
Have rooted my SGS and Flashed to Froyo (although the external SD card seemed a bit flaky even under Eclair). I'm using a 32Gig SD card of indeterminate heritage.
When I use USB connection, and choose the mass storage option, my PC tells me I can't write anything to the external SD card because it is write protected. I know it isn't as I'm able to write to it with a stand alone card reader/writer, and also able to copy files to it using the Android Manager WiFi app. The only reason I don't just use the WiFi app all the time, is that it seems impossible to copy whole file structures, just files or blocks of files one folder at a time.
Kies is a complete joke, slow as hell, buggy bloat-ware, and only connects to my phone a small percentage of attempts,
I have tried mounting, unmounting, removing, formatting. Has anyone got any ideas what might be the problem?
Oh, I wondered if it might be caused because the SD card is a 'generic' unbranded card of unknown 'class' off a well known auction site. Could it be just that the card is dodgy (I don't have an alternative card to try in it's place)?
Many thanks, Phil
I think my question can be disregarded. Found another thread that says it is the XXJP3 Froyo build that is causing the issue. FWIW I just tried using Kies again, and it corrupted the SD card so now I've got to start from scratch again
Hi,
I recently installed CM7 on my phone using Rom Manager and am very happy with it.
I noticed that my SD card read and write speeds have become abysmal though.
Can someone tell me how to fix this? I noticed in Rom Manager under the SD card partition area it mentions something about changing write speeds.
Would that work? I do not really want to create a separate partition on my SD card at the moment but I would like to increase the file transfer process.
Thank you for the help
Known problem, best solution is to use a card reader.
I also get extremely slow read/write speeds on my SDcard when mounted via the phone. My dad's HTC desire running on leedroid ROM reads and writes like lightning compared to what im getting and we both have the exact brand, class and capacity SDcard. Formatting the sdcard didnt help, i happen to be on CM7 as well so i wonder if its a ROM related issue...
