Hi,
I have recently purchased an i-mate PDA2, and it works fine, however if shaken lightly, you can hear a rattle as it something is moving inside. If i then squeeze the sides, the noise stops.
Its not the volume slider.
Could you please tell me if the rattle is normal, because this is the second unit i have had that does this, so i assumed they are all like it.
Many thanks in advance

Hi !
I got this phone last week, but i think something is loose on it. When i put on my desktop i can hear something loose, and when i use my finger and knocking softly on the back beside the camera, i hear something loose. Is this normal or is it broken ? I cant hear anything loose if i just shake it.

Mmm i dont hear anything like that on my Diamond? If mine was making a strange noise that would worry me a bit! Is the back cover on ok? Also when you take the back cover off, do you still hear anything?
Strange!
yes
the sound is when i am knocking with my finger beside camera....sounds like a screw loose or something...i have removed the battery and batterycover but it still there
isn't the stylus magnet gotten loose? Can you make it with or without stylus?
You are not the first one with loose magnet and it's not that big deal to fix.
Hi !
This give me hope. What is Stylus magnet ?

The magnet that holds the stylus into the phone. Try removing your stylus and tapping the phone in the same spot, does it still rattle? If the magnet was loose, the tip of the stylus could be rattling around near the camera.
Isn't your stylus getting 'sucked in' ?
strange sound
It is not the magnet i think....but could it be that the sound should be there ? The phone is vibrating when there is a call, and maybe its normal ? or am i just hoping thats the case ?
yes
Everything is working great but when putting the phone on the desktop i get the feeling something is loose since the scrambling sound.
When i remove pen and battery and knocking on the flat area where battery should be, then i get a small scrambling sound.
I always thought that noise came from the autofocus-lens of the camera ......
When i shake the phone there is no noise. When i put it on the desk there is this small noise.
But everything works fine.
loose
Hi !
I had a talk to HTC and there will be a small sound when knocking easy with finger on backside phone. But you should not hear anything when shaking the phone. And you should only hear the sound when having the phone beside your ear and knocking with finger. Anyway my sound was to high and i could hear the sound with earplugs so got recommendation by HTC to return the phone. I was also in 2 other shops and listening by knocking on them and there was also a very smll sound.
Thanks for all answers...
Hmmm, my Diamond has a rattle too, but it's quite loud...
I can hear it easily from a meters distance (my arms aren't any longer )..
Did anyone find out what is causing the rattle?
Thanks.
edit: I think it's a part of the camera (autofocus). If I autofocus and let go of the button, I hear the exact same "click" as I hear when tapping the backside of the phone. It also looses the autofocus, I'm afraid this may be a defect...
Mine is in a great condition
My device is working super!~
First off, if this has been covered elsewhere I am sorry. I have checked and haven't found this problem. The speaker on the back of the phone is extremely low and can only be heard if you hold it up to your ear. The volume will sometimes jump up (blasting your ears off if you have it up to your ear Have already tried voodoo sound and also tried changing settings in service screen. This problem started and has continued through different Roms. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
The speaker assembly can come loose. take the battery cover off and press firmly on the speaker.
You Might need to fold up a small piece of paper or something and put it on the edge of the speaker so that when you put the Barry cover on there is constant pressure.
Thanks
Nice!!! Worked like a charm. Thanks a load for your help!
thank u very much
Upon receiving my second HTC one today (I RMA'ed the first one due to quality control issues discussed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwOu5oXpjVQ ) I find that this one have something loose inside of it, somewhere around the area of the upper speaker or the camera (camera works I've checked it). And it makes this Rattling/buzzing noise every single time a put the phone in my left palm (or by lightly tapping the upper part of the phone), quite annoying after awhile... It's not from a loose power button nor the volume keys. I also tried pulling out the simcard tray as well, and the noise persists.
I never noticed this on the first phone. Are you experiencing any of this? This can't be normal, right?
Hey, a simple no answer would be good if you're not.
Thanks.

No not for me. If anything, its probably the camera for you thats "loose". It happens with a lot of phones
I'm having a buzzing vibration from the top speaker when playing sound through the speakers (music, video, etc. but not during call). Definitely something vibrating under the speaker grill with the sound waves of the speaker, particularly at the frequency of a male voice talking. I'm about to contact HTC for a return. Very frustrating because the rest of my phone works great. Now I'm worried about getting a refurbished unit with other problems...

Got mine RMA'ed, second time now. I haven't received a refurbished unit as of yet.. But I'm not in the US and rma's are handled a little different (we do it through the retailer as long as there is any warranty left). Got a new device last time, and I'm expecting that is what I will be getting this time also.
Hi there,
I've had my HO since May and have noted in the past 3-4 months that the in-call volume level was getting less and less.
However I didn't think about it too much, blaming it on me personally as a person who's been having problems with in-call volumes of all my previous HTC phones.
However the problem didn't exist when I first bought the phone.
Just played some music on it:
I still can't hold the lower speaker grill right to my hear as it is just too loud - same as when I had just purchased the phone.
But the upper speaker is a different story - hold it right against it and I can still hear more sound coming from the lower speaker than the upper speaker.
There's no cracking or strange sounds, it just seems clogged up from dust/dried sweat/whatever?!
Tried gently cleaning it with pressured air, didn't do the trick.
Does anybody have another suggestion before I come up with a tooth brush and might damage the speaker inside?
Did some further research on some other boards:
took a dry toothbrush and scrubbed over the speaker a couple of times - like new again!
