blue angle siemens SX66 power switch problem. please help - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

hi. My sx66 got problem with the power switche. I can not turn if off.( it only works for turn on and off the backlight and turn on the pda) Also the 4 buttons (start menu message, internet exploer ok/close) do not work propertly. Otherwise everything is working well. Can someone please help me what to do or what wrong with the mainboard? Thanks!

I have had the same problem, it was the small circuit board that controls the cursor. Unless you have parts you will need to send it in.

hi Cruzzer,
Can you tell me where the small board located. Does your pda have problem with the power switch? Thanks.

Dear Cruzzer,
You are right. I just fix my phone. Thanks for your help. luckily the guy next door have 2 boards, I tested both work 100%. he charge me 15 dollars for one. If you need one for your phone, let me know.

HTC TyTNII Button 5 not working

Hi all,
Just got my TyTNII yesterday to replace old O2 Zinc.
Everything was good, until i found out the button 5 (originally assigned for program camera) doesn't work.
I try to assign button 5 another program but it just doesn't work and when i reassigned button 6 for camera, button 6 works fine.
Everytime i press button 5, the response given is backlight will turn on, button 1 to 4 light will also turn on. but just that, the program assigned doesn't run.
I really don't hope to bring it to Service Center, as in my country, for PDA, even we claim in the same day we purchase, we won't get any replacement, and it will take one month (more) to return and sometimes just to let u know they didn't do anything. My previous O2 Zinc was also the second unit.
Help me please.
Keep it assigned to camera, but keep pressed a little longer to lunch the camera.
Hey I got my TyTN II yesterday, quite excited about the device. But I have the exact same issue. Did anyone else run into this problem? And any solutions for it, or should I ask for an exchange? Help please.
Ths button is a dual mode button for the camera. Light press to autofocus then deep press to fire.
If you re-assign it you need to press deeply to activate
Thanks for the reply, that was silly of me just figured it out.
Thanks for the reply.

Stuck power button

Hi all, long time, Happy New Year.
I have an old IIi that I would like to try and get up and running again. The problem is ( and why it's on the shelf ) the power button is unresponsive, it doesn't push in, come out, it's sort of 'stuck' Has anyone seen this before, if so, any ideas on how to get around / fix this problem ?
Thanks in advance.

try to take off the black plastic antenna cover on the back and see if the small button on the main board is working... search this forums for the service manual... it tells you how to take that cover off.

Nexus One Power Button Issue

I have read many threads about the issues that the Nexus One has with the power button. I feel that my situation is a little different, so I wanted some opinions on this. My power button is completely unresponsive. I can't use it to turn the phone on, wake or lock my screen when the phone is on, etc. My phone has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted. I am currently using the track ball to wake my phone, so I'm not having any real issues with day to day operations of my phone. I was completely convinced this was a hardware issue (and still am), but I wanted to be 100% sure it was a hardware issue before contacting HTC. I downloaded Quick Boot from the android market which allows you to reboot your phone, boot your phone into your Bootloader, and boot your phone into Recovery. I decided to boot my phone into Bootloader mode to see if the power button would work there. The power button didn't work in the Bootloader, but neither did the volume button (prior to this test, I had no issues with the volume rocker at all). I pulled the battery and let the phone boot up to check and make sure the volume button was still working when the phone was running. Once the phone was booted up, I had no issues with the volume controls. My question is why would the volume rocker not work in the Bootloader? Also, could the issue that prevents the volume rocker from working in the Bootloader be preventing the power switch from working while the phone is booted up? If there is a chance that it's a software issue, how would I test/correct the issue? Thanks your help.
Most people I have seen complain about that problem, send the phone back for a free repair because it's a hardware problem.
The best way to test it is to flash a stock rom.
Thank you, I will try reflashing the FRF91 stock firmware and see what happens. Thanks.
Definatly sounds like the power button is broken. I had one like that. Send it back for a repair/replacement.
I've checked my immediate suspicion, and it turned out to be correct - so I'm posting the result:
Your power button is actually stuck in "ON" position (pressed).
Anyone can test it, press the power button to wake up the screen, keep it pressed, every operation is allowed in the system and volume buttons work. But when you reboot and try the same in bootloader, having power button ON disables the rest of the buttons.
My screen doesn't wake when I press the power button. Any other ways to check if it's stuck in the "ON" position?
It's 100% determined by your description. The only other check would be running any kind of SW that shows the current key states, and I'm not aware of any such SW.
I've posted the checking procedure for people with working power buttons, so they can verify the findings.
Any way to fix the issue?
If you're technically inclined and can't use warranty, I suppose that getting to the power button and repairing/replacing it wouldn't be very difficult. But no other way I can think of.
has anyone tried to repair this?

A DIY can not be too difficult and you may be best to search YouTube. It can not be too terribly difficult as long as you can open it up and remove any connecting ribbons (I've had to replace my girlfriends iPhone digitizer due to phone falling out of back pocket onto concrete from three+ feet up). As long as you can open it, you're fine. Just going to need to re-seat the button. Good luck!
Greetings,
I had the same power button issue. I was able to wake my phone using the usb cable whenever the screen timed out but otherwise the phone worked 100% of the time in all ways. I got an RMA and label and shot the phone to them in an anti-static wrap with 4 inches of bubble wrap on all sides and foam padding on top of that. The phone was in perfect condition. Well to cut to the chase. I got a quote of 196.00 because they said there was water damage!? I treated that phone better than I treat my own body! There was no water damage when I sent it in. So one of their folks send me images of a phone that has a broken screen, water damage in the base usb port and no inscription. Interestingly all of the angles avoided showing the ein or s/n. My phone has a laser etched inscription with my name and a couple of bible verses. So what am I supposed to do here? Pay another 196 for an 800 dollar phone that had nothing wrong but a power switch? I am a T-Mobile customer and an Android developer in good standing. What the heck!? Can anyone give me a suggestion on how to get this squared away? My only other option is to send them $28 to get the phone back with the same power button issue. It's even under warranty until Jan 28th.

[Q] Help Request on Chip identification

Hi,
I was going crazy trying to figure whi my i9000 doesn't start. I broke the screen and i've replaced this with another. Seeing i wasn't able to boot, i did the Unbreakeable mod wich got me into download mode and i was able to falsh a rom. The problem is that my power button didn't work either to power off the device!
I've checked the button twice and it's ok (it shortcuts the two terminals when pressed). the problem seems to be that in the spots marked with red arrows in the picture below, i don't have any components and it seems that there were some in these places. I need help to confirm if there are components in those spots and in that case, help figuring out wich component it is (resistor / capactior...) and its value.
I would be greatly thankfull to anyone who can supply any information.
Thank you in advance.

HTC Salsa Power button not working

Hi All,
I have HTC salsa, few months its Power button stop working on gentle press and now its totaly gone.
And if I left my phn switched off after 20 24 hrs. its starts automatically..if I remove its battery and re insert it, phone starts automatically.
I go to service center but he said that button is connected to mother board thus whole mother board will be replaced and it will cost some 90 $.
So is there anyone who can help me or faced any such issue?
one more consiquence of this problem is that if my phone's gone in sleep mode then its ring become active and the only way to get the screen is either I have to call on ,y number or plug in the charger.
So is there any app which can disble that ring.
Phone is running on Original rom nothing special treatment is provided to it and I cant do anything on it as I dont have PC connectivity for that mobile.
Please help me.
Thanks
