Hey everyone, i just was getting ready to update to the new core rom (from xplore 1.1) and i plugged in my Tmobile mda into my pc that is running xp, and it is not connecting. When i plug it in it like doesnt even try to find it. And when it does try to find it, it just says it can't establish connection with your item.
I was using xplore and this is the first time i had this problem ever. Ive flashed 4 or 5 times and this has never happened, and thats why im posting it in the wm6 forum.
Does anyone have any ideas? HAs this happened to anyone else?
Now i am back on the newest tmobile update, and it is still doing it. Also i installed the newest version of active sync. Still no go. Also i used shell tools to put xplore on my phone, could that have left out some active sync's files? (probably not, last time i put nottosmarts rom on here everything worked perfect.
ipl 2.26
spl 2.26
gsm 02.25.11
os 2.26.10.2
love you

can't someone at least flame me or something? im still stuck

I can flame you , lol
If you can't connect, how did you flashed the latest TMobile ? I am not making fun, I really want to help.
i threw it in bootloader mode. It said usb in the bottom right hand corner. It's just that activve sync is not connecting with it. i wouldnt even care, but i think you need an active connection to active sync when you flash with shell tools, which is what i do.
update: i just succesfully sync'd to my laptop running windows vista.
anichillus, do you know if shell tools will work with the new way to flash with vista?
thank you so much for reponding, i really appreciate it...a lot lol
the only reason im doing this is to get to your rom!

I really really don't know that sorry ... I am using WinXP and not shelltool.
Also, why are you using Shell Tool ? Dont't you have G3 ?
Unlock it and easy as pie. I remember papamopps saying that it is possible to flash in vista ...but i don't remember anything about shell tool ...
BTW, you have ZoneAlarm ..or similar installed to the PC where you say that it doesn't connect ? Try and disable firewall ... antivirus ..stuff like that.
well i just don't want to void my warranty, but ill definitly try turning off all the firewalls tommorow when i get a chance, i think im just going to give it a go with shell tools right now and hope for the best
Thank you so much and if you ever need anything i would love to help you in return.
you're the best!
i have the same problem..active sync doesn´t find my wizard..but it´s charging normally, but active sync doesn´t recognize it or i don´t know..what should i do?? i didn´t do any change on my pc..and before it works good..
If you're using Microsoft's OneCare then you may have to enable the Allow ActiveSync to get it to work.
Start OneCare then click the "Change OneCare settings" link on the left
Click the Firewall tab
Click the Firewall connection tool button
Place a check in the ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center" checkbox
Click Okay back to the main page
Hope this helps, but like Anichillus said, it could be any other firewall application blocking it...
yes! all i had to do was turn of norton for a bit and it instantly recognized my device. I was just so confused because this has never happened before and thats why i haven't thought of such an easy explanation. Thank you both for giving me your clear thoughts! lol
Another resolution idea
I had the same issue - I would plug the device in through USB into Vista Ultimate with no results other than the bing bong noise it makes on connection. Checking the device list showed the network pieces being added, but not the actual Wizard itself in the Mobile Devices section. I could not sync, it would not pair, etc, etc.
Resolution (on the Wizard):
1) Settings->Connections->USB to PC
2) Turn off "Enable advanced network functionality"
This of course will not be the resolution for everyone, but in case someone else sees this behavior, here is a list of the symptoms I saw:
1) Plugging Wizard in via USB causes Bing Bong noise
2) wmdc shows no connection
3) device manager shows no Mobile Devices section when connected
4) device manager network adapters may show mobile device services when plugged in
5) If connected in bootloader mode the device manager will show the mobile device
6) You can set up a bluetooth connection (if available on the PC) and sync properly with it
Cheers,
Shoogi
Shoogi, what an awesome first post! Worked perfect for me! Keep it up, great post and lots of help!
i have a problem that when I plug my device active sync connect it and charging starts but after a minute or so active sync disconnected and charging also stoped.
I have installed everything official > rom,radio,ipl/spl etc.
One Care made activesync almost unusable for me. I also had to reflash from THT's rom because I couldn't connect at all unless I hard reset. Makes no sense cause my husband can sync and he had the identical same rom.
Happy New year to everybody...
Mine has started off bad, I just returned from my X-mas/New year break and I can no longer sync, install or uninstall programs ?
when I connect my PDA to the PC it sees it, but it can't sync, if I go to remove/add programs it shows empty nothing installed.
I can even brows the PDA but I can't copy files to or from it?
I'm lost, can anyone help me out on this I really don't want to do a hard reset.
Thanks.
Anyone.........?
tryed to reinstall active-sync?
did you installed some program has to do with network (kind of ftp-server or something else that uses some ports in you network-config)
i had the problem with filezilla ftp-server, using port 990 for ssl-authentification.
the problem was, active-sync also uses this port, but filezilla starting as service was bound to this, so AS could not work.

Hi Edi, No I haven't installed anything, but I think my problem might be something else (worse), I just realised that I can no longer copy move or delete files from either the PDA or the MC, I get an "access is denied" error.
Anyone have any idea what might have caused this? and better still, is there a fix.
I seem to be repeating myself lately with this answer, so I apologise if it seems down-right obvious, but have you ensured you have the latest version of ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Centre?
The reason I ask this is because I too was experiencing Sync problems using WMDV, but realised I didn't have the latest version (it doesn't automatically update with Windows Update, WTF?). Windows Mobile 6 is obviously programmed slightly different from revious versions, so updating Sync software is a simple step that's often missed...

Hi Audio, I use both, AS at work and WMDV at home, both used to work fine.
And do you experience the issue on both?
EDIT: Apparently, there may be a problem with ActiveSync 4.5. Just take a look at this list of complaints about it lol.
One user stated:
"I was using AS4.2 with my ETen M700, everything was fine. I wanted to upgrade to WM6 and teh instructions said I needed to use AS4.5 I installed it and tried to connect my device - disaster! The rapimgr.exe process runs at 99% and slows the computer to a crawl.
After 3 attempts, I uninstalled it, and re-installed AS4.2 (available from www.microsoft.com) and now things are working again. "
This may be worth doing to see if this soilves your problem...

Yes I have tried it on three different machines, I can see the PDA but it won't sync or let me move or copy files.
It look like I might have to do a hard reset, but I'm hoping not
Also, a chap on a premium (you have to pay for support!) site said the following, which seems slightly similar:
"I've been using ActiveSync for a while now to sync outlook up to my motorola q. For some strange reason it's stopped working. The connection takes place, you get the little signal saying that ActiveSync picks up on it, the "Connecting" message, followed by the "Synchronizing" message... and nothing. It just hangs there. I've reinstalled ActiveSync and Outlook and did a hard reset on the phone. I'm convinced the issue is with the desktop, if I take the same PDA home, I'm able to sync up with my PC there. Does anyone know what happens during the Synchronizing phase and what could be possibly causing it to hang? ActiveSync 4.5 is a new beast, solutions to the older versions don't seem to apply.
If I hit the Stop button, ActiveSync hangs on the "Stopping" message and ActiveSync on the phone becomes unresponsive until I unplug the cable."
So even a Hard reset didn't solve this guys problems...
I would recommend uninstalling AS 4.5 from your machine, and installing 4.2. Reason being, i believe you need your phone connected to the computer when you install syncing software, so it more than likely "fiddles" with some very well hidden settings on the device. If this is the case, 4.5 may have [email protected] it up, but 4.2 may be your savior.
If you decide to give it a go, let us know how it goes...

Hi Audio, I don't know what to do, I started another thread about no longer being able to either copy, move, delete, install or uninstall anything, I really don't think it's a sync problem anymore. I will wait another day or so and then I'm going clear storage and start again.
what really pisses me off is my wife has no problems at all? perhaps my PDA is ******.
Exactly the same has just happened to me - I tried to connect to ActiveSync this morning to copy a file across via bluetooth, but it refused to connect. I plugged in the USB cable, nothing - the phone charges but ActiveSync does not want to know.
I deleted the device in AS, tried to add a new one - nothing found.
I last sync'd up fine 4 days ago.
I am using Dutty's DualTouch v1.1 release.
I am using AS 4.5.0 build 5096
If I discover services via BT from the kaiser to the computer it finds the ActiveSync service.
I have done a soft reset, no difference, restarted the PC, same. I haven't applied any Windows Updates or made any changes since it stopped working.
I might try rolling back to AS 4.2
Edit: Same with AS4.2
Think it might be clear storage time
Cleared storage and then it worked fine...will take the opportunity to upgrade to dualtouch v2
Hi Blaze, damn it's annoying isn't it, my next move is clear storage as well.
Hope mine works again.
It's bloody happened again I reflashed the rom with Duty's Dual Touch V2. Much better rom, but activesync has just given up again via BT and usb. Maybe it's some inherent problem with WM, or with Duty's roms - which are you using Dave?
I've tried it on a fresh build of XP Pro on an old machine with nothing than AS & Outlook 2k3 on - same, AS sees the device, but wont sink. Problem seems with the device...

Good Point I didn't even notice, put it down to stress...
PS: For anyone who's interested, I ended up doing a hard reset, reinstalled my apps, restored my backups and it's working fine now.
Did you have F-secure Mobile installed? If not, I could take that away from possibilities that's causing this problem
Hi !!!
The issue looks like this that i upgraded my PDa to WM5, everything is working it was latest HElmi ROM . BT Wifi GPS GSM everything is great , working very fast, upgrade took me 20 min and a bottle of vine . But after upgrade i cannot sync to PC , i uninstalled sync installed one more time didnt help. I have 4.5 version of sync.
Please help me !!!
I really need to sync i have to install my GPS maps and without sync is imposible
When you have upgraded your PDA you will have to set up a new partnership in Active Sync. To do this you disconnect your PDA, open up Active Sync and then in menu File -> Delete mobile device.
Then when you reconnect Activesync should recognize it as a new device and you can setup synchronisation.
Good luck
not really, i already reinstalled the connection, i used it before so im familiar with that , but thx for trying. I sure that this is combined with that upgrade to WM5 it was working fine on 2003SE
You know what ?? i notice that when im plug in the PPC its creates a LAN connection on my computer and try to acquire IP , cant connect active sync error cant connect and on a PPC error cannot acquire the IP ... if i remember right i never had a connection , LAN connection before i installed that WM5 ... i tried disabling firewall, antyvirus , disable my internet ( its a USB modem ), im even ready to reinstall the whole windows if i have to ...... help guys !!!!
Two things to try:
Set the IP as static in the RNDIS-Adaptor (I don't have my angel handy to tell the settings)
Disable the Advance Network Functionality. (Start -> Settings -> Connections tab -> USB to PC)
Really, I'm not even sure what the RNDIS (advanced network settings) are even good for. I've not seen any less network related functionality with it disabled.
thx man... i will try in about 1 h , im at work right now, i set to class C 192.168.0.1 maybe it will work
thx a lot hopefully this will be the last post
and .... it wont work.... i getting confused..... damn SYNC

No, a class C won't work.
I just plugged in my hermes using the 'Advanced Network Functionality' and it showed an IP of 169.254.2.2. If you want to try wth that IP with the remote-NDIS host 'network card' (I think that's the one to change), go for it.
Really, I'd just disable the advanced network crap and be done wth it. Activesync is such a hack IMO, it's not worth the headache.

Well the i just guessing the simplie thing.. Since u say u upgraded to WM5 i guess u upgrade your BA from WM 2003 to WM5?
if that true.. then u only need to change your Active Sync 4.1 to Active Sync 4.5..
WM5 n WM6 works only with Active Sync 4.5 bro!!
u can download it from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx
happy trying..!!
its already on 4.5 dude .... and the IP 169.254.X.X its the self assigned IP address by the card , i normal circumstances it means on network that there is limited or no connectivity , but what have left ??? i will try ...wish me luck

Yes, I am quite aware of the IP and it's use, however, that is the IP range that activesync uses.
Remember, activesync acts like a NAT or bridge between the phone and the network(s) the computer is attached to.
I think it was the hermes forum that someone tried assigning the IP manually and it worked for them.
nope, it will not work, now the LAn connection created by the phone gives limited connectivity , on auto IP assigning its saying connected on the IP 169.254.2.2 , i can see recived and send send packets but the SYNC after 1 min of "connecting" timed out and says cannot connect.... its weird that its sending/receiving and SYNC is ****ed up....
HAHAHAHAH !!!!! 2 bottles of vine , 1 beer, 2 packs of cigarettes... if done IT !!!!!! you whant to know how ?????

Well..
- Async for the WM2003SE is Async 4.1
- Async for the Wm 5 & 6 is Async 4.5 won't work if us 4.1
since u have uninstaled the 4.1 and instaled the 4.5..
this is my ultimate opinion for u..
1. try to sync your BA to ur any friends PC which has not been instaled by Async => then instal tha Async4.5 to your friends PC n connect it via USB, then lets see what happen..?
2. try to Sync Your BA with any of ur friends PS which has Windows Vista.. it has built in Window Mobile Device Center.. n see if ur device can connect n sync with your friends's Vista?
3. if the 2 options in above doesn't work too.. it means your WM5 have some trouble in active sync bro(maybe).. then all u have to do just Re-Upgrade it..
maybe u should try WM6 ROm 6.10.00 made by Explode.. i have it instaled on my BA.. it it works wonderfuly n fast! n the Asnyc normal too.. since i have my BA being custumized from WM2003 to WM5, From WM5 toWM6(5.60.00), From WM6(5.60.00) to WM6(6.10.00) "I Never Changed my Local Area Connection to my device" i'm not even touch that area after all..
after i read your tread i try to see my Internet Protocol Settings(propeties) n it was Setted to Receive IP Automaticly..!
have i nice try bro!!
Glad to help You There.. Hope u solve the problem soon.. God Bless U

I chrck if it work on boot loader it find him ... well I did reinstall the ROM using reset holding camera+record, select 3 option button mail.. windows reinstall ..and ladys&gentelmen we got fully funcionall BA ... everything just works perfect and fast... I installed my GPS,wi-fi works goog, phone Ok. The only thing that doesn't work is stereo headset bluetooth hhd-750 siemens ...I can discover but can't sync with phone
I can sync but NOT ALL things sync - i have posted elsewhere in xda-developers but I am VERY confuised.
Only SOME of my calender and SOME of my inbox sync. I am on PDAviet's rom (I tried xplodes but same issue), I use activesync 4.5 and office 2007 on my PC.
The only thing I haven't tried is re-installin outlook 2007. Is there anything else I can try - I REALLY NEED TO SYNC MY CALENDER (and other items)
Thanks!

Are you using Vista or XP. If it's XP, you have to go into Settings=> Connections => USB to PC => check "Enable advanced network functionality"
In Vista, it needs to be unchecked. The problem is when you do this, ActiveSync in your PDA should have an option to connect via USB but it doesn't. I now cannot sync in Vista except by using bluetooth. I remember after buying the HTC Touch Cruise that you need the "Getting Started" installation CD to install the USB driver. I have since returned the Cruise and am back to my Siemens SX66.
I recently got a new PC with Vista Ultimat. Synchronizing the phone has been a nitemare.
If i hook the phone up, the computer beeps in recognition; I can even browse files on the phone sometimes. But ActiveSynch says I'm disconnected, the phone says I'm connected.
I find the only way I can get the synch to happen is to install MS Mobile Device Center 6.1 . I have the phone hooked up during the install, and during the install the phone is recognized and it will synch.
Any ideas on improving this. I"m surprised I didn't find this and a solution already out here (maybe using wrong search terms.).
Thanks

Thansk for pointing that out, but it didn't help.
And, interestingly, even reinstalling WMDC doesn't always work either.
What rom are you using? I had problems synching when I flashed Garmin dk2 rom. But all others work fine.
Try this, it worked for me.
Go to start<<settings<<connections tab. Then select the USB to PC icon. Uncheck enable advanced network functionality. Restart PPC and then try to re-sync.
Hi,..i'm using
HTC touch 3g window mobil 6.1
rom version:1.40.707.2
rom date: 10/24/08
for probably 3 months.. sync very well with my pc xp sp2, Active Sync 4.5, office outlook 2000...
normally it would show the choice of active sync or disk drive or internet sharing.. it will still sync if i didn't select for a few seconds...
but last 2 days it give me screen as 1st attachment below
and cannot sync at all...
i had tried:
1) i go to start/setting/connection/USB to PC to select and deselect the check on the "Ask me 1st.." and "Enable faster data.." like below 2nd attachment..
2) soft reset
3) remove active sync and reinstall..(and reboot pc)
what else i can do?.. my last step would be hard reset but with so much data to back up and apps to install, so would like to ask advice b4 i do that..
i still can use it as USB Drive though, to transfer my Storage Card by select Disk Drive....
i had this issue, try syncing with the "enable faster syncing" disabled after you attempt to sync, even if it doesnt sync turn it back on and then try. do the same process after closing OUTLOOK from taskmanager. sync should work after this.

karthiksk,
Thanks for speedy reply... at 1st i thought i already done that, but with ur advice i tried again... finally it sync again (but the Internet Sharing still pop up 1st).. but can't sync if i turn on "Enable faster data.." again..
Just curious what had happen, the "ask 1st.." choices of connection never pop up anymore ... Maybe future hard reset would get it back...
Anyway this solve my need to sync for current usage ... many thanks again... u r a life saver....
Am unsure of what the problem is, but what goes without saying is that its a bug in the ROM. glad to see i was of some help.
