You can increase the time it takes for voicemail to pick up. I set mine to max 30 secs and I haven't missed a call I've heard. My phone seems to ring after 2-3 rings on the other end. This may not work for every carrier. I'm on Cingular in the U.S.
Step 1. Key in the following into your phone *#61# then press the call/send button. This will return a telephone number and the current delay time before voice mail kicks in .
Step 2. Write it down.
Step 3. If you wanted, say, 30 seconds, before the Voice mail activated, then you would put 30 where the nn is in the following string and the telephone number from step 2 where the xxxxxxxx is.
Key in **61*xxxxxxxxx*11*nn# followed by the call/send button and it should update the delay.
For example, it would look like this **61*xxxxxxxxxxx*11*30#
If your phone reports the delay time, you can check by following step 1 again.
If it doesn't work, then 2 things to try.
Double-check that you have entered the correct number of stars and hashes or try putting the telephone number in International format (eg +44793100123 instead of 0793100123)
Very cool, thank you.
I hate toating my phone around the house so I can catch it in time.
Thx for the excellent tip! Works great....
Worked really well - thank you

Hi Tinkerz - Fantasic Tip.. I've always thought that the amout of time to reach the phone was too short!!
Hi everyone else - Ok, I'm in the UK, on T-Mobile and I can report that I have successfully updated using this method too.
My phone has reported back that my delay is now set to 30 Seconds.. I guess the proof in the pudding is when I leave the phone downstairs and I have to race to get it!
Cheers!

It's funny how I came to find this. I bought a new landline phone with answering machine and when setting it up it had an option to set the number of rings before the machine picked up the line. I had been fed up with missing calls because of the delayed ringer issue. I kept having to call people back. So I thought there has to be some setting like that for our cell phones. Did some searching on the web and found this! Now I've been able to answer 100% of incoming calls after the phone rings a couple of times.
Here's a more exhaustive list of GSM codes.
Am I the only UK Person to try this..?
@UK - Well.. Am I..?
@Tinkerz - I know what you mean about having to call people back.. It's also nice to make sure everyone knows what my ring-tone sounds like after the usual 15 seconds!

Thank you Tuatara
Now I try the .cab in that topic
this doesn't work for me...just to clarify, the xxxxxxxxxxx's are the voicemail number when you do the original thing in step 1 right?

My diamond is intermittently not allowing me to make calls. I try to dial out to someone, but it just beeps at me 3 times. I dont understand it - all the while i can still send and receive sms. It has only happened in my bedroom so far that i know of, but i am getting 3g in here, so my reception cant be that bad can it? i have also moved to different rooms in the house. I had this problem with the original Orange Rom as well as the htc stock rom i have now!
I don't have an answer but I'll save you a phone call to HTC support.
HTC: Thank you sir, may I have your name and number in order to help you to the best of our capability and your satisfaction.
jimmeh1988: Uh, sure, I just gave it to the other person but anyway... It's xxx-xxx-xxxx.
HTC: Thank you sir, may I call you Jimmeh? What brand of phone do you have.
jimmeh1988: It's an HTC Diamond.
HTC: Thank you sir. Let's see, <reading their manual> Yes sir, will you please take the back cover off sir?
jimmeh1988: Okay, done.
HTC: Take the battery out of the phone and wait for 15 seconds.
jimmeh1988: Okaaaaaay.
HTC: Now, sir, what do you see?
jimmeh1988: Well, my phone appears to be working but when I make a phone call, about every 3rd phone call, I simply get 3 beeps.
HTC: Sir, would you mind if I placed you on hold?
jimmeh1988: Sure...
HTC: Sir, have you made sure your phone is on when you made the call?
jimmeh1988: Well, yeah, duh...
HTC: Would you mind if I placed you on hold again?
jimmeh1988: Whatever...
HTC: Sir, I've talked to another tech and they said they've never heard of that either. Have you talked to you phone service provider? They may be able to help you.
jimmeh1988: No, thanks, I'll figure it out myself.
HTC: Other than that, have we supplied you with a courteous and helpful phone call sir?
jimmeh1988: <click>
Seriously though... HTC's service is second to none. I was just messin' around.
Have you tried switching to EDGE and see if you have the same results.
Does it do it anywhere else other than your house?
If so, you may just have something defective in your phone and you'll have to send it in.
Mark
Well i best try orange first thing in the morning then, if i am gonna get this from HTC.... I was just wondering if anyone else had had issues with this? its only happened in my bedroom - so i cant say it wont happen anywhere else?

hi, thanks for responding but youve misundertood. after each call the number pad comes up with the my last dialled calls. but ive just discovered the screen im referring to disappears by itself after 3-4 seconds.
ps. of course i havent read the manual, im a bloke
I´m also find that thing a litte bit anoying. So I would be great if there was a way to get rid of it.
Waiting is boooring
Would be nice indeed - especially as I almost always try to press 'Home' and the phone calls no1 in the list :/
I have noticed it to turn off by itself - still think its pretty useless...
The 'store unknown no. after call' on the other hand I really like
This has been a feature of Windows Mobile for years. I've developed a habbit of pressing the hangup button twice when I end a call, this makes the phone screen disappear.
Sorry for the bump, but I to find this "feature" very annoying - quite often i call someone from list call history list by accident after finishing a call
Anyone ??
Cheers, Jesper
i was writing about that here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459066 very annoying - still no solution for that ...
I am having a problem with my sprint diamond. When I get an incoming call, I have to press the touch screen answer button several times for it to answer. Sometimes I try the hard button to answer and still the same issue. On a few occasions, it took too long to answer and the call goes to voicemail.
Has anyone had this problem?
Same Problem, Sprint HTC Touch Diamond. 1.09.x ROM
Same issue, Using Dutty's ROM. But I only have the problem when recieving international calls.
Anybody know what this could be?

Thanks!!!!!
Thanks, will give it a go. Another problem im having is hanging up on a call. When i end the call via the hard key the phone will not respond straight away, sometimes I have to press the key lots of times, or unlock the phone as the screen has turned of, then access the phone key pad, then end the call. Total pain.
Anyone else have the problem?
Update!
Problem solved! Thanks again, caprate!
See post number 20 on page 2 in the link that caprate posted. Someone posted a cab file to fix this. I can comfirm it has worked!
hi. I am new the forums and new the the kaiser/tilt
I just added some HTC stuff to my phone and everything was working fine.
Until today i noticed that when i call somebody, then hang up...if i click the dial button twice the same number from a different contact always shows up and the time of call is different from the rest. For example, if i were to call Albert and end the call. If i were to click the dial button, Sonia would be the last call displayed. When i check times, it gives me a different time liek 8:24p when its actually 4:00a.
Any ideas guys?
I am sorry if this belongs in another forum area. but it is a bit bothersome and cant find a solution.
Thanks
B
Hi all!
I have two phones - one in my car and one in my pocket. I've been noticing that a lot of people only wait for like one ring (on my diamond) before hanging up, so I figured I should compare with my car phone with a twin SIM. Now, the car phone will ring for almost 20-25 seconds before the diamond starts, and I can only have a 30 sec delay before the call goes to voice mail.
Anyone else noticed this? HTC tech support told me to do a hard reset, but since I've already done two of those in the last week I doubt that'll do much for me.
I'd appreciate any help!
Cheers

There's been various threads on this particular issue... although the delays most people experience are in the "up to 3 seconds" mark.. Apparently a 1-2 second delay is normal for windows - whereas you say the delay in yours is 20-25 seconds!
You may want to check the size of your ringtone file to see if it's too big or;
Also, have a look here to see if there's anything that might help....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258109
(also, do a search and check out the other threads relating to this topic)
You haven't told us what ROM you're using, but if nothing else works and you're confident in following instructions, there's a sticky thread in the "....Diamond ROMs ...." section of this forum that goes through step by step on how to flash you're ROM with a nicely cooked version, courtesy of the hard-working chefs.... (just a reminder that you do this at your own risk - but it's not as scary as it seems!)
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply, and sorry about not mentioning the ROM version I'm running. It's actually a Panosha (sp?) 2.0 with one of the newer radios. I already tried the "long wav fix" but to no avail, so I'm actually thinking about flashing it back to stock to see if that fixes it :S
Cheers!
Just install the WM5 patch you can find on this forum. It solved the issue for me. No anymore delay..
