You can increase the time it takes for voicemail to pick up. I set mine to max 30 secs and I haven't missed a call I've heard. My phone seems to ring after 2-3 rings on the other end. This may not work for every carrier. I'm on Cingular in the U.S.
Step 1. Key in the following into your phone *#61# then press the call/send button. This will return a telephone number and the current delay time before voice mail kicks in .
Step 2. Write it down.
Step 3. If you wanted, say, 30 seconds, before the Voice mail activated, then you would put 30 where the nn is in the following string and the telephone number from step 2 where the xxxxxxxx is.
Key in **61*xxxxxxxxx*11*nn# followed by the call/send button and it should update the delay.
For example, it would look like this **61*xxxxxxxxxxx*11*30#
If your phone reports the delay time, you can check by following step 1 again.
If it doesn't work, then 2 things to try.
Double-check that you have entered the correct number of stars and hashes or try putting the telephone number in International format (eg +44793100123 instead of 0793100123)
Very cool, thank you.
I hate toating my phone around the house so I can catch it in time.
Thx for the excellent tip! Works great....
Worked really well - thank you

Hi Tinkerz - Fantasic Tip.. I've always thought that the amout of time to reach the phone was too short!!
Hi everyone else - Ok, I'm in the UK, on T-Mobile and I can report that I have successfully updated using this method too.
My phone has reported back that my delay is now set to 30 Seconds.. I guess the proof in the pudding is when I leave the phone downstairs and I have to race to get it!
Cheers!

It's funny how I came to find this. I bought a new landline phone with answering machine and when setting it up it had an option to set the number of rings before the machine picked up the line. I had been fed up with missing calls because of the delayed ringer issue. I kept having to call people back. So I thought there has to be some setting like that for our cell phones. Did some searching on the web and found this! Now I've been able to answer 100% of incoming calls after the phone rings a couple of times.
Here's a more exhaustive list of GSM codes.
Am I the only UK Person to try this..?
@UK - Well.. Am I..?
@Tinkerz - I know what you mean about having to call people back.. It's also nice to make sure everyone knows what my ring-tone sounds like after the usual 15 seconds!

Thank you Tuatara
Now I try the .cab in that topic
this doesn't work for me...just to clarify, the xxxxxxxxxxx's are the voicemail number when you do the original thing in step 1 right?
Ok, so after loading "RUU_Kaiser_ATT_WWE_1.60.502.3_22.45.88._07_1.27.14.09_Ship.exe" for a couple days, tweaking a few things and adding a few software packages...
Yesterday, after leaving my desk for a while with the phone on the desk and unplugged after recent sync with desktop....
I come back and find my Tilt is really hot and totally dead!
Later in the day, last night and today...I noticed that on some email notifications, the vibrate latches in and won't stop until I wake up the screen!
Anyone else seen this? Need to decide whether to restore to factory condition, retest etc...or send back as defective.
Cheers and THANKS!
this has happened to me several times, I finally went off and set email alerts off which is annoying. This also happened on my other HTC phone 8125
This has happened a couple of times for me too on the totally stock ATT ROM.
Annoying but, since it's always with me, it's never gotten worse than "annoying".
Same problem here, since I don't want to disable the vibrating alert I just send a mail to HTC asking for a solution.
Hope they'll anwser.
I'll keep you posted.
Percentages...
Hmm, with these numbers (already)...it is difficult to determine if this is a quality control issue with a small percentage failure. Need some more replies and a comment from HTC!
I'm already inclined to tell AT&T to send me another one, especially since this issue has been experienced with the ship ROM, and it is less than 2-weeks old.
Also original rom and I had the problem from day one.
It's night over here in Belgium, but I won't wait from an answer from HTC. First thing tomorrow I'll call the shop where I've got it.
I've had this a couple of times on my UK Vario 3. It actually happened today.
The problem seems to span different roms and batches.
pjam
I've also have this problem so like most people I disabled the vibrate notification which isn't a fix but better than having it none stop vibrate. Hope they fix this for the Vario III as well as Kaiser
solution from a HTC dealer
I just called the shop where I purchased mine, and first thing the guy asks, "do you really need the vibrating warning? can't you just use a sound alert or something?"
After explaining that I really want it to work as mentioned, he went to ask.
When he came back he tried to convince me that it's normal with WM6. It's a feature. When asked wheter it's normal it sometimes works "correctly" en sometimes it keeps vibrating, he answered it's strange but normal.
Explaining that the battery gets really hot and so didn't help either. He was convinced it's normal. But he gave me a number of HTC. Not a Belgian nr so I'll first wait for an anwer via email till this afternoon.
Anwser from HTC
I just called to HTC Europe, and the woman on the phone said "oh that's not good".
But a solution? I'll have to send it in for repair.
Still waiting for an answer on my email I send to HTC. And if I'll send it in for repair I'll first call again for a better anwser than "that's not good".
But sorry no real solution yet!
seems like this is getting worse and worse for us. I am experiencing the same issue. I have had the phone for about a 3 weeks now. The first week everything was fine. Then this sporadic occurance of the steady vibrate with new text and email messages. It seems like the first 2 vibrating pulses go through fine but it gets hung up on the last one. Full stock att ship rom here as well.
I'll get after AT&T for a replacement tomorrow (GMT -5) and post their response.
Well, not much to report except AT&T gave no fuss and new Tilt is "in the mail". I would suggest even those who are outside the "return for new one" window, get after HTC and/or their provider to replace any units with this "defect"...
Maybe threaten class action... Good luck to all.
I called back to HTC support, explained the problem again. Also said that I'm not the only one but they are not aware of the problem. I'll have to send it in for repair.
So I called the repaircenter, and it would take 2 or 3 weeks.
Don't want to send him in for so long, so for now I'll try to live with it. Still hoping for a bugfix one day.

did u walk into an att store? or make a phone call to customer support? In either case how did you go about proving this was infact an issue?
I called AT&T premier phone support from a shopping mall while waiting for my better half to shop...it took about 1 minute to explain the issue.
Basically, I told them my phone needed to be replaced because it was defective and explained the manifestation (sometimes when email alerts are set to vibrate, the vibration does not stop and if I let it keep going, it kills the battery fast and overheats the unit).
I further explained that I researched the problem online and that is appears a small percentage of users are affected by the issue so that it is likely a manufaturing QA issue.
I also suggested that they send me a new unit versus a refurbished one, at least the first time around. They responded, "Oh, of course we will be sending you a new unit".
It took another two or three minutes on hold for the order to be setup, and I had an email in my Tilt inbox before we disconnected.
Overall the experience was excellent.
Same problem here. Mine is a Hong Kong unit that is HTC branded. Using it here in Canada with Rogers.
Note: I have installed Blackberry Connect 4 as well for connection to my corporate email.
If an message comes in, it will sit there and vibrate like mad until I wake it up. For now, I've disabled vibrate.

sounds very much like the typical idiot you find in such places
is it just email notifications that are affected, or does it happen on all types of notification, ie sms message?
Good question...
Right now I'm running Dutty's Tilt Beta 2 w/ touch and all is good actually. It turns out that the phone ring uses only one vibration (long) and is followed by sound, where as my email uses 3 short vibrations only.
I'm more inclined to reach and answer the phone, than I am to reach to read an email, plus the email gets 3 chances to improperly latch the vibrate.
So, I don't know if it really is only email, or if email manifests itself as the culprit only because it happens more often.
Others may be able to confirm this.
I will say though, I'v had Dutty's running for 24 hours, and although the weekend email volume is much lower for me, I would have expected it to happen again by now.
The whole thing is crazy, sometimes it bothers the hell out of me, and other days it just gets forgotten or I assume it is a glitch.
All in all, I like the phone enough to keep it in the end, even with this problem. However, I still think the numbers on this forum are low enough that I have a decent chance of not experiencing this "bug" with my new phone when it arrives.
I've had my tilt since november, and just the past couple off weeks, when i make calls i've notice that there is static on my end, and every so often the person on the other end will complain about static, i didn't think much of it for a while until it kept happening, i also noticed that occasionally when i dial the call will drop immediately when i hit the send button even though i have full service anyone else had these issues and if so did you have to return it or was it fixable?
??????
I've never heard of this issue......Have you called your service people......sounds like a phone thing....have you flashed your rom?.....

never flashed my rom or anything like that, haven't called the service peeps yet, wanted to see if i could find a fix here first, but looks like i'll have to stop in at the local store i bought it from tomorrow. i just hope it repeats what it's been doing for them so i can show them what i mean.
??
they should give you one with no problems........If you never flashed then I think it truely your phone.....even if you did flash.....no one I've heard has had this problem due to flashing......
Peace
Mike
Guys please maybe this time you'll help me, i think I saw somewhere on the forum this problem but can;t find it now. The problem is when somebody's calling me and I pick up the phone I have to say HELO, HELO few times and there is no answer from the other side. This delay lasts about 2 - 3 second from the picking up the call.HOW to hear the caller right after pressing answer button????? I'm starting to loosing my nervous to this phone-even the worst crap for 10$ doesn't have so many problems with BASICS things like calling, texting -as this toy for 500$ ....
I guess I'm again the only one with this. If U don't know how to help me just write you've got the same to make me fell not the only one that have that issue
Same Problem
Yes mate,
i do have the same problem.1.93 rom
Same here.. Hello? Hello? Hello, oh - yes - now I can hear you. Happens all the time with my phone.
Yep same with me, and my bro's HD
Try picking the phone after 3-4 rings .. may be that'll help cut down the delay.
First off I am on AT&T with an AT&T Nexus 6. Second I have encountered a new issue with this phone. I searched and found nothing like it.
Here's what my phone is doing. I received a text from a friend a few days ago. But only the message came in under a different friends name. Example, a one friend "John" said hey man did you see my new truck? I replied yeah it looks pretty nice. I then back arrow out of my stock messenger app and when I do "Johns" name changes to "Todd". Then " Todd sends me back huh?
Same thing when I send a message. I will send it to one person and my phone will change it to another persons name.
I have had this problem stock and on custom roms.
Is anyone else experiencing this sort of issue?
@konaman,
This probably won't help you, but I'm on AT&T with branded N6 and I've never had nor heard of a problem like yours. Not sure what to tell you....
Yeah I haven't either but this is a really big deal, privacy wise. I'm going to sit down tonight and record myself texting until I can get this to happen again. I got a text from a friend named Mike once and we replied to each other several times and the message went to another person at the same time. It is very weird and annoying.
Another annoying problem I have is my phone will hang up on people when I either answer a call or call someone. As soon as I or they begin to speak, click. It hangs right up.
I have never had so many problems as I have had with this phone. I'm about to give up on it.
