Hi
I have just unlocked my XDA1 from o2 business to vodafone pay as you go.
Can anyone please tell me where I can get the internet & email settings (instructions) for vodafone from.
Thanks in advance
Steve
anybody knows whether there are language and/or other issues that make the US.26 ROM NOT compatible with TMobile UK Vario? I unlocked my CID when I upgraded from TMo UK 1.x to Mr Clean 2.24 by the way.
I just finished installing the 2.26 ROM on my MDA Vario Dutch Edition.
So I don't think any language barriers should be an issue.
Reception is ok. and don't see any problems up till now.
Good luck installing if you decide to upgrade. I must say it feels faster.
Cheers,
Shah.

Hi,
Well I think the language (upgrade/CID unlock) is the problem for ROM 2.xx and higher (Wizard, T-Mobile Dutch). Please correctg me if I am wrong (and tell how to do it) ;-)
gtz
Hi Barneyhead,
I don't know about upgrading from 2.xx ROMs but I upgraded from a 1.3 ROM Dutch version MDA Vario.
I first of all used the Lokiwiz 0.2b tool to unlock(U) and CIDunlock(C) my phone.
After that I downloaded the US T-mobile ROM 2.26 and ran the installer.
I didn't have any issues with language or other setting what so ever.
It just replaced the Dutch version ROM with the US version ROM and now I'm running the new version without any problems.
Cheers,
Shah
Hello,
thnaks for your answer. Yes, I think it is possible with your version of ROM. I found somewhere in forums how to pass CID lock for new versions too.
cheers.

With previous roms I have used the Cingular settings were hard coded for gprs access. This meant that if you didnt change them you were charged very high prices for sending data from the UK to the US then back to the UK again. Can the settings on this rom be changed?

:?: How can sending data to the US and back to UK be possible when connection is only based on APN, and these access point is related to the simcard. :?:
So, in your case matey as you are in T-mobile UK no matter what ROM you use as long as your APN is general.t-mobile.uk ; username: user and password: one2one (it's the only connection you can use anyway) then it will be just the same charge.

The rom I am currently on had a similar problem where the setting for the connection was already set. Someone posted that they have been charged £40 for just checking their email, http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=52521&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75 :

WARNING!!!!!
to all the non-cingular users...
After I flashed the new rom I set up my e-mail account to receive e-mail every 20 min...
However, by default, this rom connects by CSD calls to USA...
I was charged more than 40pounds for international calls in an afternoon...
the phone wakes up every 20min and it connects to the inet using the number 0014152441012!!!!
Imagine if I realized that after a few days and not after a few hours...

That is CSD settings mate or Dial-up not GPRS. Again, that is in the network settings.
I noticed the following with my HTC TyTN II.
When I perform a soft-reset, and "logon" to my KPN provider, I can make outgoing phone calls. BUT I can't be called for about 15 minutes.
People who call me are redirected to my voice mail. After about 15 minutes they can call me.
I tried this with my Vodafone SIM card, but I could'n reproduce the problem with my Vodafone SIM, it happens only with my KPN SIM.
When I put my KPN SIM into my Samsung E900, I also don't have this problem. Anyone any ideas, what can be the problem?
I had this problem with Telfort on my old phone (I-Mate Jam) but a.t.m with HTC TyTN II I have no problem.
You could best contact KPN and request them to send your phone the phone settings for KPN. I requested mine from Telofrt and it worked al tho the TyTN II had automaticly installed the settings of Telfort.

I've run the automatic connection setup, and set it up for KNP. After my latest hard reset I cancelled this setup. (I think this is what you mean?)
But did didn't solve the problem. Would it make a difference when I call KPN to receive the settings?

Hmz that could help. As I said it worked on my I-Mate Jam. But the funny thing is I bought my I-Mate Jam from Dubai and I-Mate has a english and a arabic ROM so I had the arabic one, that's why I needed the settings.
I bought my HTC Tytn II from dubai. But the ROM is english and it had the settings originaly.
So try it

I tried, but it didn't help. My settings for KPN are OK.
Received my device yesterday. (T-Mobile MDA Compact IV)
Very Nice !!!!
My operator subscription starts in september.
Until then I would like to use my phone with my current provider (Orange). (No simlock, so that's ok)
T-Mobile did not include the NetworkWizard for switching between operators.
Can anyone point me to a CAB with this app that works for the Diamond?
TIA
