O2 support is suck! - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

Since I live in US, I tried to email O2 technical support ([email protected]) with Bluetooth question. The person refuses to answer any questions on O2 product that was not purchased in UK.
I went to the www.seeo2.com web-site and went to the country where I purchase the device from. I found some email addresses, but I don't think those guys are support people. I think they are salesmen.
How does O2 support work?
Is there any support for US region?
How does XDA IIi from Asia, Europe, other places differ from each other (Other than its ROM)?
I also was told that if my device is broken and is still under the warranty, I have to bring it to the country where I purchased it from. The ticket to the country itself costs a lot more than the device. Does O2 have a 'buy-and-good-bye' attitude to their customers?

Hi,
I leave in the US and bought my O2 XdaIIi in Hongkong. I registered with them on seeO2.com. No problem to get responses to questions.

Anyone want to sell me their O2 Stellar? :)

I've been keeping up with O2 Stellar for quite awhile. A recent browse through their website shows the Stellar is on sale however a purchase of a plan is necessary. I put in couple words for O2 and ebay (uk) but none of them want to ship to the US.
Where can you purchase them?
Any UK member want to sell one to me
why don't you just buy an unbranded HTC phone ? same phone but without all the O2 bloatware

UK: Grey or Not Grey

I'm getting really confused by the responses from distributors and people on this forum. Correct me if I'm wrong:
a) Expansys are selling Grey imports which do not contain the software fix?
b) The official release date is the 16th June? 19th June? 9th June? 23rd June? (depending on what site you go on)
c) if above is correct why are some sites saying they are getting a stock in on the 12th (originally 9th)
d) How do you know you have a grey? Obviously the manuals etc will be in english.
e) Is the software fix available to correct the issue if you have a Grey?
I'm sure I'm not the only person thinking this in the UK
See if HTC let you register your serial. If not, then its probably grey.
If you didn't get your device in HK, or direct from HTC, then its pretty likely its a grey
Well I've ordered mine from TotalPDA. They have informed me that they are getting them in stock on the 11th June. Depending on the release date this could mean its a grey
I doubt it, why would they risk all the bad press after seeing the reaction eXpansys have got?
I'm going to drop an email to them and see what I get back. I'll post anything I receive
it will depends on where you live, Expansys has offices around the world, and they sell the offical hong kong version both english and chinese, if you get the english hong kong version, it's the same as any english version you buy, you will see it labelled WWE which is world wide english, the only differences is, you don't get the official warranty, and HTC will not give you support.

So do these 'grey' imports come with UK power plugs or some adapter?
And are they factoy sealed when you get them?

If Expansys were labelling it as HK sourced, as they often do for other products, that would be fair enough - people would know what they're buying. But they're not - the top of their product page prominently claims it to be "version: UK, GPS". No doubt by the time they're forced to change it they well have sold all the stock at the vastly inflated price. To me that looks like deliberate deception, further supported by the deletion of the original grey import thread on their forum, and locking of other threads on the subject. They have also refuse to answer whether the warranty is for 1 or 2 years (as offered with some EU HTC models). Highly unethical in my book.

sorry
my apologies, I didn't see that, and you are right. if it stated uk, it's false advertisement, and it's right for everyone to attack on them.

hk uses the same three pin square plug as the UK, it's the legal requirement.

I just got mine HTC Touch Diamond from eXpansys.
I just got mine HTC Touch Diamond from eXpansys.
HTC Is not registering my product online.
It is WWE version but that’s for ROM only.
The s/n and the origin country for the hardware is not accepted from HTC for the product registration.
So, this is what eXpansys is telling me.
Sticky: Warranty on the DiamondThe units are WWE and have full manufacturers warranty, eXpansys will handle any warranty repairs on your behalf as eXpansys would with any other HTC device.

As far as I understand this is what Expansys is offering to me.
- If something goes wrong with the device Expansys will replace the device but they will covering the European transportation costs.
Have in mind that I am from Macedonia.
- I will have to send them directly to their specified address.
- I wont be able to get the support from the HTC listed European authorized services.
- And no rom official updates. They will be posted in their forum.
Somebody confirmed that with HTC here -> (eXpansys deleted forum thread here.)

Then you are from Greece my friend because Macedonia is a province of Greece unless you are from F.Y.R.O.M. Please lets keep the international conventions in country names in the forum.
P.s I dont think Alexander the Great was speaking Slavic unless he had Tito as teacher instead of Aristotelis!!!

Expansys and Diamond "gray imports” warranty update...

Well things are bad and good at the same time...
Anyway I think there’s no room for any panic and we have a clear information now about our toys from Expansys ...

The bad thing first...
10 June 2008 11:53 GMT by Stuart Miles
HTC has backtracked on its comments yesterday to Pocket-lint about supporting customers who’ve bought a non UK version of the new HTC diamond.
“HTC will always support the consumer and their device but what’s important is that consumers know that devices are region specific and that to receive the full customer experience, the device bought needs to be relevant for the region they are in. To ensure this, consumers can acquire their HTC Touch Diamond through our trusted distribution network”
On Monday the Taiwanese company had said that any device bought through Expansys would not be covered by Warranty or come with HTC qualified support, in particular pointing towards Expansys in the UK who had imported phones from a different region to beat the official release in the UK.
The company has also moved to quash rumors that the new handset won’t be available until July.
In an interview with Pocket-lint Florian Seiche, VP of HTC Europe told us that the HTC diamond is shipping in the UK now and be available everywhere before the end of the month.

And the good thing ....
Sticky: Diamond Warranty.
As always, eXpansys will do what it can to support it's all of it's customers.
To confirm, our units are sold with a 2 year warranty.
If HTC decide to be unreasonable and not honour their own warranty, eXpansys will cover the repair for the original customer.
Updates will posted in our forums as and when they become available. We appreciate that like us, customers like to get newly released toys at the earliest possible opportunity.
Therefore we will always do our best to secure stock before any of our competitors, as we have done in this case.
This can, and does upsets many of our competitors, and leads to rumors and accusations.
We look forward to upsetting our competitors in the future, and pleasing the majority our customers at the same time ;-)
As with anything bought from eXpansys, you may return any item within 10 days of the date of receiving your order for a full refund.

Yony thanks for this info but please be kind and confirm or deny my statements.
As far as I understand this is what Expansys is offering to me as aftersale support.
- If something goes wrong with the device, Expansys will replace the device but they will also cover the European transportation costs - both ways. Have in mind that I am from Macedonia.
- I wont be able to get official updates from HTC directly but they will be posted here or I can register at HTC Hong Kong and get the updates from there.
- I wont be able to get the support from the listed HTC CARE European authorized services.

In the end.. even direct HTC waranty isnt all that great. I think the worst case scenario is if expansys have to ship back to HTC in HK, which will add time for repair. With a big repair center in the UK thats pretty unlikely unless HTC really want to stick it to them

Where Can i Buy a New S730?

which online retailer still carries the S730
It's dicontinued on expansys and devicewire. ebay only ships to the US.
What country do you live in? That may help narrowing down the list of possible retailers
I live in Egypt

Samsung support: beware!

This is not really S5 specific but I wanted to share my frustration with Samsung support anyway, as this could happen to S5 owners too. I am in the Netherlands and bought a Samsung product here in the Netherlands but it is also sold in the US. I was having problems with this product and tried to google for a solution, I couldn' t find a solution but did find the US support page, I contacted the chat, they referred me to the dutch support but as it is a holiday here they are closed, so I came back to the US support who seemed to be manned. They refused to give me any answers, instead referring that they only can give support for products sold in the US. I give them the US page for the product I need support for, again the same answer only support for products sold in the US. So I tell if I need to set up a US VPN to get help.... and I eventually do I and get a different operator and ask the same question. I am asked if I am from Holland and I think WTF, I am using a VPN service, check my IP and yes I am in the US. So I try a different VPN and ask the same question, I am asked the same question: if I bought the product in the Netherlands, now I decide to outright lie and tell the operator I bought the product in Chicago (where I appear to be) and he just answered my question...
So, one person out of millions with a fairly abnormal situation has a bad experience with Samsung support and now all S5 owners should take caution?
Most S5 owners bought their phone through a carrier and 9 times out of 10 won't even have to deal with Samsung if an issue arises.
Call me crabby, but I see this as essentially a non-issue. Oh, and sorry you had to go through that bad experience.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
And this is a problem because....i mean you buy from US, you get US service, you buy dutch, you get dutch service. It's not Samsung's fault your country has a holiday. There are many reasons why companies dont deal with outside countries. Rules, regulations, laws, language barriers. This is not Samsung's problem, this is your problem, nothing to do with the quality of customer service.
As an example, the European union, and Canada has rules that states that even if your warranty is over, the company is still responsible for their products if its within a reasonable delay of the end of warranty. Basically, if you buy a tablet, and you tablet breaks 2 months after warranty ended, by law, the company is obliged to service the product, this is not the fact in most other countries. You can't train an employee to understand all laws from all countries. For legal purposes, agents can only speak to customers that fall within their jurisdiction. Samsung, and many other companies do this because they do not want to be accountable for answers that dont reflect reality and then get sued for it.
Hey guys! Do not protect Samsung. Remember that the customer service is always the bad guys. Its bunch of part time afterschool workers who do not care. I have dealt with samsung, sony and HTC several times, it's always the same "retarded" answers I get. That said I do not know what we can learn from this thread. Everybody knows that when you buy hardware from the worlds biggest companies you are on your own if something happens....
What a lot of drivel! How ridiculous, you expect support from US for product you bought in another country where you live, where is the logic?
Nice thread.. hahaha
