I have just reflashed the firmware on my UK Orange SPV M2000 after porting my mobile operator over to virgin mobile. i did this so i could remove the Operator customisations which were just taking up ram, and also to see if i could make my phone more reliable (one of my biggest bugbears is not being able to use Wifi without a soft reset) as a result i can switch on and of bluetooth and wifi at will without any errors, and i havent performed a soft reset because of a problem in 6 days (i have soft resetted after installing some programs as it was required by the prog)
I achieved by first downloading ftp://xda:/BlueAngel/BlueAngel_Roms/BA_1.40_radio_1.20_untested_extrom.rar and removing the Radio_.nbf file and flashing that to the phone.
once that was done i did a hard reset then flashed radion rom 1.13 as described here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Radio_1.13_Upgrade
I then downloaded all the files from here ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAn...ERK_1.4X_002/I-Mate_PDA2K_Ext_ROM_140176_WWE/ into a directory on my PC
I then deleted
Default_ImateV112.002.cab -> dont need it as i havent got an imate so dont need imate email
Default_Caller_ID_BA_AKU26_RC20.CAB -> i will explain why in a minute
Default_Fax_V2.09_WWE_0720.CAB -> havent got a need for faxes
Default_SkypeForPocketPC.CAB -> this is pants and so is skype
and then i then added cabs for the following programs prefixing them with the Default_ so they would install after hard reset
Voice command 1.5 for Phone edition -> i think every one uses this
Photo Contacts Pro v 3.01 -> This is fantastic beats the IA caller ID hands down
I then used the extrom unlocker and deleted all the files in the extended rom and then copied my downloaded files into it. the then locked and hid the extended rom again and then performed a hard reset
once that was done i added in the Virgin GPRS and MMS settings (If anyone wants help with this part for virgin settings let me know as i am working on creating a CAB file with these settings) and renamed device and added owner information.
There are two problems now, the first i can fix, the camera raises the backlight to full and then keeps it that way. i just deleted camera.exe from the windows directory and then replaced it with the camera app that was originally on the device (make a backup of this file b4 you start)
The only problem that is left is a problem that happened with WMP9 and WMP10 if music is playing and you close WMP then your device loses all sound. i dont know of a workaround for this, but i make sure i pause any music before i close the app, not a big thing really
I then loaded on these apps mainly into the storage memory except that specifically request you install them into main memory
SPB Pocket Plus 2.5
SPB weather
SPB Diary
Ewallet
Tomtom Navigator 5
Microsoft Reader
Pocket Mechanic
and last but not least my favourite game Virtual Pool Mobile v1.6
This doesnt sound like many apps but it suits my needs perfectly for the moment.
I then took a full backup onto SD........
and viola one ultra stable Orange SPV M2000
i hope it works for you too
I would do what i did when installing apps and install one at a time and test especially task managers and today screens as these use up driver memory, this is where the problem with the WIFI and bluetooth starts
and in case i dont see you good afternoon and good evening and goodnight (watched the trueman show again! )
Interesting and well detailed,
I then used the extrom unlocker and deleted all the files in the extended rom and then copied my downloaded files into it. the then locked and hid the extended rom again and then performed a hard reset

Wonder if you can attach the camera.exe file here? TIA!

What i mean is i run the extended rom unlocker tools on the device by selecting unhide & unlock and then through activestink browse to the /extended rom folder and then delete the files and then copy the extended rom files from the pc and put in thier place.
i hope that clarifies it for you
and yes i can attch the file for download, but its on my other comp and because of a failed raid array i havent replaced yet it takes 20 mins to boot, so i will do it tommorow
Thanks, fuzzy. Looking forward to that
fuzzy,
Are you able to extract that exe file yet ?
Nvm, fuzzy.
Found the camera.exe HERE.
Hi Fuzzy,
Where did you get the cabs from for:
Voice command 1.5 for Phone edition ->
Photo Contacts Pro v 3.01 ->
Cheers
Yohanson
i got Voice command 1.5 with IRC on #pocketwarez on EFNET servers
and as for photo contacts i couldn't get it free so i ended up buying it (first pocketpc software i have bought ever, and to be blunt it was worth it for something that is used every time you recieve a call)
I have also incresed the number of programs by upgrading to latest versions of SPB programs and also added SPB time and SPB weather and i still have no problems with Wifi. it starts first time every time.
I have just bought 5 more of these phones but O2 XDA IIs so i will reflash these the same and then flog on ebay.
every one else who has one of these phones is jelous because it has been reliable as a rock since i did this, and i have still not experieced any problems since the flash, and i have not performed one soft reset because of a problem. i know a lot of you wont believe it but its true it has been rock solid for me. so i will test the same procedure on the five phones when get them and see if there are any differences
Great stuff!
I did something a little similar here.
I took the latest firmware and Extended firmware.
I then went through it and deleted everything I don't need.
Splash Screen, Clearvue stuff, Cingular settings, album, etc etc etc.. Although these would be neat programs... let's be honest... when it comes to the Blue Angel, less is more.
So right now, I'm pretty stable.
I don't put anything in the Protected ROM. I think a lot of apps don't like it.
We'll see how this goes!
Mike
Since I do not want to hard reset - what are the files that I need to remove in order to completely uninstall IA Caller ID ? - it does not show up on my installed apps to remove so I need to do it manually - TIA

Has anyone got a reg file or program that configure's GPRS/WAP on O2 after doing a corporate install?
I think I has seen some threads that refer to a CAB file that has been extracted from the O2 Ext ROM that can be used to reset these settings. Any idea where I can get it?
Its the connectionsonly.cab your after i've got it but i'm at work at the moment, if no-one provides a link i'll mail you it tonight.

Hi, There is plenty in the Alpine sections about upgrading to the various ROM sections, just have a look or search. You will find the files here, ftp://xda:/Uploads/Alpine/
You can see what PUG ROM version I use, which I have found to be very good.
Sometime ago I uploaded all the cab files for your Carrier Settings, just copy cab to XDA IIi and tap to run, after the cab has installed the settings, it will delete itself, so make sure you keep a copy for future use.

The latest PUG upgrade is here, ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Alpine/O2_Roms__Camera_Fixed_Pug
There are 2 files here, one has all the unneccessary 02 software outstripped and the other with all the 02 software included.
Once downloaded, extract to a folder on your desktop (or anywhere on your PC). Make sure your PDA is connected via the cradle and Activesync. Goto the folder you have extracted the files to on your PC, click to run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe, just click OK, then you should see a message saying it is checking your Device, your devices screen should go blank (Although you will see some dark text including the word Serial on your PDA)
You should then get a screen saying what ROM version you have and the New version, press ok then a screen will pop up saying checking device, the common thing to happen here is it will stop in this screen, what 5 mins if it doesn't change then don't touch your PDA, CTRL-Alt-DEL on your PC keyboard to bring up Task Manager, select the Process Tab and look for the file name MaUpgradeUt_noID, highlight it with one click and then press End Process button, go back to the folder and run MaUpgradeUt_noID again follow the screen instructions again and then it will update this time, indicated by a install bar screen, it will take about 20mins to complete.
Once updated remove your PDA from its cradle and hold the Power Button down and at the same time press the softreset hole with your Stylus, this will Hard Reset (Factory Settings) your device, depending on the version you have installed follow instructions on the PDA, it will install some more files which take 5 to 10 mins to install. Thats it you device is now updated.
For your carrier settings goto http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26463, there you will find the CAB files for your Phone Carrier (remember there is a file for PAYT and Contract for each Carrier, download the correct one for you), download the correct one for you and copy to your PDA, tap to run and your correct MMS/GPRS/WAP settings are then installed. Very Happy
**Please Note before you update your PDA. Please copy anything you want to keep on your PDA to your PC, don't worry about SD storage or the other Perminent Storage area as the update leaves these untouched. If you want to save your Contacts and or your Appointments and Tasks then goto Settings on your PDA select second Tab and then select Perminent Save, tick your selection and tap OK, then once you have carried out the update go back to Perminant Save and tick boxes you want restored and then tap OK, this function will dynamically keep your backup upto date, so you can use this anytime.
Phew, hope this helps.
I have tried all teh CAB files, and all the individual settings, to get full GPRS working on my O2 PAYT SIM.
After 2 emails to o2's technical department (which at least they answered within 24 hours) I was assured that the reason I couldnt connect is the APN whould be set to mobile.o2.co.uk - but that ONLY worked on contract plans.
They categorically stated that PAYT O2 ONLY features WAP GPRS, i.e. those small WAP-sites suited to mobile phones, and not the 'full deal' (ie web browsing, irc, MSN MEssenger etc)
...so, after a LONG time with O2 PAYT, I am now a Vodafone customer with a Vodafone PAYT SIM!
I can surf the web, join my irc channels, use MSN Messenger, the works, and they emailled me the correct settings the very same day I emailled them to ask for them too.

now a happy Vodafone GPRS internet user!
Hi,
just got an 2nd hand xda IIi earlier on today and seem somewhat shafted as i only have macs and no pcs, been looking arround for the last few hours to find some form of sync software which doesnt cost
can anyone tell me how to update the rom from a mac?
cheers
Ok,
so im guessing from spending hours searching the forums here last night unless im willing to buy pocketmac or missing sync there is nothing.
think i will use a virtual pc *sigh*
roll on the x86 mac hardware.
Mac OS is based on BSD. I believe there are scripts floating around here in perl that any decent *nix flavour should run. Perhaps some of these might be able to help you.
if you can run a Virtual PC with access to USB ports on the Mac, I'd reckon that would be the easiest (!) approach to adding Activesync for syncing files etc & installing any applications, as all of the pocket PC apps' installers are also windows-based.
Joe
had a long look for perl stuff and didnt find much so got virtual pc installed now. just got pugs rom on the xda and the speed has incresed (it doesn't feel as slugish anymore) wifi signal is a lot better, but i still seem to have BT issues, wonder if thats something to do with my headset though.. sounds like bad reception sometimes even though the phone is only in my coat pocket.
Hi!
I want to be able to see and input Japanese in emails, calendar, address book etc etc... and am having some problems.
Yes, I have researched, read many pages, done all that, but I get some quite serious problems.
I have read
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/x50-x51-forums/103305-bagojs-japanese-ime-x50vs-wm5-16.html
http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=171045
http://www.ookii.org/software/japaneseinput/
http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=217045
and I know about ATOK for Pocket PC but have not tried their products as yet.
http://www.justsystems.com/jp/atok/atok_ppc/?w=at
First, I installed a Japanese font, soft reset, and then the input.
http://www.asukal.jp/WM5/LetsJapanNo5.zip
http://hn801.hkes.com/Data/SIP/IME_31J_QVGA_F.zip
I checked to make sure the font is in the devices /windows/fonts directory and it is.
I then launched Word and I could type Hiragana but could not convert the Hiragana to Kanji.
I use Outlook 2007 on my PC, which is setup for Japanese.
However, on the Kaiser, I cannot get the Japanese to display in my address book and also the calendar. The standard rows of boxes show.
My PC is an English OS Windows XP, with Japanese installed and I have changed, in Control Panel -> Regional Settings and Language, for the default to be Japanese.
I also have tried BagoJSInput with little success.
The BIGGEST problem is that ALL of the Kaisers buttons, camera, jog dial etc, ( except for the poweron/off button ) completely become disabled!!
In the Kaiser's menu start --> settings --> buttons, all programmes are stilll associated correctly.
And the only way, I could get the buttons to function again, was to delete the Japanese applications !
Any advice appreciated!

ofiaich,
Good idea starting this thread. It may help people in the future.
Okay, before we get too deep into messing with your device, you need some form of backup utility. I highly recommend SPB Backup, others will no doubt recommend Sprite. Both are totally worth the money, but there are serial numbers and cracks out there too, if you can live with yourself afterwards.
Also, please research to see if there is more than one way to soft reset the Kaiser. On the Hermes, there is a pin-hole stylus reset (brutal reset) and there is also the option of holding down the power button and allowing the machine to reset itself more kindly. If there are two ways, always use the hold-power-button option as it will allow the machine to shut down correctly instead of just cutting the electricity supply.
Next, it is also good to have some files to play with after you reset. So, BEFORE you hard reset, create a Word file with the PPC that includes some Japanese. Call this file PPCProducedJapanese, or something like that.
My first suggestion, after backing up that is, is to hard reset your device so that everything is back to the factory settings.
My next suggestion is to install these .cabs one by one to isolate the problem. Also, it might be a good idea to deal with each problem separately as it sounds like they have completely different causes.
Problem #1:
You can't see Japanese in contacts or calendar.
I still think this is caused by the sync from your English computer (even though it is Japanese enabled). The reason I think this is that I ran into the same problem a looooong time ago with an English-based PC OS and a Japanese PPC OS. However, the PC was a PentII with Windows ME and the PPC was a Ipaq 3850.
After a hard reset, install the Japanese fonts and sync with your PC. If you still cannot see Japanese in contacts of calendar, then try this:
On the PPC, sync over the file PPCProducedJapanese.
Copy and paste the Japanese in this file to create a new contact.
Copy and paste the Japanese in this file to create a new appointment.
If you can see the Japanese in these news files, then you know the problem lies somewhere between the PC and the PPC syncing files.
If you can't see the Japanese in these new files, then you know the problem is that the Japanese fonts not being registered by these programs for some reason.
There are two Japanese fonts packages that I am aware of: Asukal's Let'sJapan and the one at Ookii.org. Try one, then repeat the above process with the other and see if the results are the same.
Problem #2
The Japanese input .cab totally screws up your device causing all buttons to be come unresponsive.
Hmmmm... This is a bit more problematic. The Japanese input .cab makes a lot of changes to your system, but almost none involving buttons that I know about. The only thing I can think of is that the .cab is changing your hardware keyboard layout, and that in turn is confusing your system.
To rule out this possibility, try the following:
After a hard reset, use a registry editor to view the following registry value:
[HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Oem/Querty] Write down the value and note if it is decimal, hexidecimal or binary.
Then, install the Japanese font package of your choice.
Soft reset.
Then, install the Japanese input .cab.
Soft reset.
Check your buttons to make sure they don't work. If they don't,
use a registry editor to view the following registry value:
[HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Oem/Querty]
Compare the value you wrote down before with the current value. If it has changed, use the registry editor to return it to the previous value.
Soft reset.
Check your buttons again.
If this is ineffective, or if the registry values were the same, try installing the attached .cab. I found it on Asukal's site and it says it is the patch for non-HTC machines. Of course, the Kaiser is an HTC machine, but it can't hurt to try. Install and soft reset and see if that fixes your problem.
You might try this with BagoJSInput as well but be careful:
DO NOT INSTALL BOTH ASUKAL'S AND BAGOJSINPUT TOGETHER!
Problem #3:
You cannot change the hiragana to kanji using Japanese input.
This is even more strange. Just a couple things I want you to check for me.
1) Are you using the correct sip (soft input panel)? Do NOT use the SIP called "keyboard". Use the one called Romaji. You should have access to hiragana, katakana, english along the left, as well as to a "henkan" button that will allow you to change hiragana to kanji. The henkan button is the one on the bottom right and is marked 変換.
2) What if you try hand writing a kanji in the kensaku sip? Does it appear for you?
Hi larsuck!
Thanks for your long and detailed post.
I am not so inclined to start doing registry edits, u til I know my device more. This is my first Windows Mobile Device.
I did try to install the synch software for TyTn II to my small Japanese OS, Sony VAIO, but got all messed up with 'can't synch with 2 PC's' messages.
Strangely, even though WiFi on the Tytn II was switched off, the VAIO picked up the signal!!
I did have a partial success with the input method shown here
http://www.ookii.org/software/japaneseinput/
but the user needs to know the Kanji well, and get the stroke order fairly accurate.
I could also input in English and Japanese to the dictionary shown here
http://www.ookii.org/software/pocketdictionary/
This input method worked in Word, but there was the need to remember to go to the word menu, and change the font settings to a Japanese font.
I previously installed some Word documents, created on my PC, to the card, and this dispaly fine.
Unfortunately I cannot find any way to change the font in Calendar, or Contacts.
I also sent myself an email, in Japanese, and the text was intelligible characters.
I wish Micorsoft would design a simple input method, I have one for my old Palm that works a dream !!
Ofiaich
ofiaich,
I understand about the registry edits, they can be scary at first.
Did you try to create a new contact and appointment on the ppc using Japanese (whatever input method is fine)? Does it display boxes or does it display correctly?
Hi larsuck,
Yes, bit too scary for the moment, but I will learn about it.
I did try to make a new contact and a new appointment, but the input just showed boxes.
Input worked for Word, and also for the dictionary. For word, I had to make sure that I changed the font from Tahoma to a Japanese one.
If there was a way to change the contacts and calendar font, then I think I could input Japanese there!
edit - I did change my synchronisation options to include email from PC Outlook 2007, and synching with the PC and NOT the Exchange Server.
Again, I could see Japanese in the email, on the TyTn II, but there was no options in the Pocket Outlook menu, to change the font, thus allowing input.
edit 2 - I sent myself an email in Japanese to myself, Microsfot Exchange Server, and then accessed my home WiFi connection and used Pocket Explorer, to go to the web page owa.my-server.com but the Japanese email was not displayed correctly. I have not tried Hotmail, but guess it will be the same. My Hotmail is a .co.jp address.
I have not worked out how to access the exchange server as yet, via synchronisation. I get an error message, but I will post that problem separately.

Silly question, but did you check your Kaisers Regional Settings to make sure they are Japanese? (The Asukal cab should have changed it, but maybe not.) If you haven't checked it, they are under Settings>System Tab>Regional Settings.
Hi !
I am sure the regional settings were Japanese. I have removed that cab, and am using the www.ookii.org one...
In the regional settings now, Japanese does not exist...
Do you want me to remove the ookii cab, and re-install the Asukal cab ?
I just removed the Ookii and switched off then on, and installed,
IME_31J-QVGA_F cab ( ASK_IME_31J) ----- The Kaiser buttons, except for power on/off, do not work at all.
Regional settings do not have Japanese. Italian and Latvian !
I then did the same with BagojsINPUT CAB ... The Kaiser buttons, except for power on/off, do not work at all.
Regional Settings do not have Japanese either !!! ( But I am really sure that my Kaiser did show Japanese in the Regional Settings before.. )
Frustrating to say the least....................
Ofiaich
Let's stick to your Japanese font problem in Outlook and Inbox first. Once we fix that, we can worry about the input. So, uninstall all the Japanese input for the time being. (Or, better yet, do a hard reset if you can.)
Okay, do you still have Asukal's Let'sJapan installed?
That is the file with the fonts. It should also make available Japanese regional settings. (Don't worry, it will also still have Latvian settings. )
If you still have it installed (or after reinstalling it) and the Japanese Regional Settings are STILL not there, then use File Explorer to check the contents of your Temp folder (in My Device). There should be a file called wince.
There is also a file called wince in your Windows folder (lets call this the "original wince" and the one in the Temp file the "new wince".) What we want to try to do is to replace the original wince in your Windows folder with the new wince in your Temp folder.
The problem is that wince in your Windows folder is a system file, so you can't use File Explorer to make changes to it. You need a program that can do that - there is such a program called GSFinder+ It is freeware. Download and install it.
**At this point, I would like to once again stress the importance of backing up any necessary personal information, and/or backing up your machine completely using SPB Backup or Sprite**
Now, first we want to copy and save the original wince that is in your Windows folder. Please save a copy of this file on your PC. Just in case.
Now, use GSFinder+ and copy the new wince file. Paste it in your Windows folder. There should be a dialogue saying something like "Do you want to overwrite this file... with this file...?" Take a deep breath and hit okay (or yes, or whatever the affirmative button is labled).
Wait until the overwrite finishes, exit GSFinder+ and soft reset your Kaiser. Now check to see if you have a Japanese Regional setting available.
If so, select it (or make sure it is selected) and see if you can see Japanese in your inbox or calendar.
Good luck. And remember - no matter how bad you may mess up your machine, you can always restore it to the factory settings by doing a hard reset. So as long as you back up any mission-critical information you might have stored on your ppc, then you have nothing to lose by messing around.
Hi larsuck,
Well,,,,, I am bemused !! I installed Resco Explorer 2007 today, and was thnking about the whole process, hard reset, copy wince over to the windows directory. etc etc
After installing Resco Explorer, I did a soft reset . I then glanced down at my Kaiser...and Japanese is displayed in the calendar and contacts...
Days of the week are in Japanese too so I knew and have checked that the Regional Settings are for Japan, they are.
I have Asukals Lets Japn No. 5 installed.. but no input method
and also The Kaiser buttons, except for power on/off, do not work at all! Therefore, calls cannot be received etc using those buttons !
and keyboard does not work!
I know you have posted above

Hi! Interesting I cannot find this path -

I have got as far as HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Oem/
then the options are -
Buttonsetting
Cab
InvokeSIMMgr
MASD
Phoesetting
RIL
SIMMGR
STK
TFLOSettings
UMTS
USB
VoiceCommand
WModem
Frustrating to get the Japanese to be seen, but can only use the stylus !
I am going to install an input system, and checkout Kanji conversion.
edit - I got input working... but not Kanji conversion. I could enter Kanji with stroke recognition ! But of course, need to know the strokes !
An interesting thought The buttons and keyboard stop working after Asukals Lets Japn No. 5 was installed.
Can I use a Windows Japanese font from my PC instead of Asukal's files?

Hi!
final update from me !
in the 'file mamanger' Japanese in song titles are not consistently displayed. i.e some are some are not..... and when I play a Japanese song in media player, the Japanese is not displayed.
One last problem, when I unistalled Asukals Lets Japan No. 5, and did a soft reset, I was unable to use the English text application. The 'enter a number' and 'message' fields had gone. I guess because wince had been deleted by the unistalling of Asukals Lets Japn No. 5.
When I re-installed, I could use the sms application again, but no buttons, keyboard operation.
I get a strong feeling that it is a problem with Asukals Lets Japan No. 5.
I did try the enable_ime2.zip file that you attached, but with no effect.
The Japanese looks really good in calendar and contacts, so I hope a solution can be found...

Hi!
found this thread with a similar problem.
This is the important part
" My phone is a Samsung SCH-i730
-- Note to everyone reading this-
-- Uninstall of Asukal Lets Japan and it is fine
--- HKCU --> keyboard layout --> Preload & Preload\1: default is "E0010409"
-- Install of Asukal Lets Japan, buttons don't work
--- HKCU --> keyboard layout --> Preload & Preload\1: default is "E0010411"
If you edit the keyboard layout registry value above to the previous one it works. For me, it was E0010409. My suggestion is to uninstal Lets Japan, check the registry value, install Lets Japan, and then change the new value back to the previous one. "
My problem is when type in "E0010409" I appear to get the letter O instead of an 0
you can see the difference! So this has not solved it for me, but I WONDER if it is an inputting the number.... correctly issue !

Me too. After seeing that your registry had no [HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Oem/Querty] string I started to get very worried that Let'sJapan wouldn't work with this device. AFAIK, Let'sJapan is only fonts and regional settings, but if it is messing with your Kaiser, then perhaps it has some more stuff hidden in it.

When you input into the registry, are you using the "keyboard" sip or the "romaji" sip? It sounds like you are inputting full-size block letters instead of half-size block letters. (Full-size block letters will appear wider than normal.) Check your "romaji" sip for a button labled 半角 (hankaku). It should be selected, making it black. This will give you normal half-sized letters. It should allow you edit the registry.
Or, you could try a remote registry editor. It uses your computer to alter your Kaiser's registry when docked. http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/get-ceregeditor-v0-0-3-0.html
If these registry entries don't work, then I think you are right to just forget about Let'sJapan and look for other font packages like the one on ookii.org.
Hi!
I did edit using the romaji input before, but tried again, but still no luck.
The remote editor connects, I can see the entries, change them but then I get "access denied" and can't proceed any further.
I wish I could contact the original author of lets Japan.... but I get no replies from pm's etc on other forums such as Brighthand !
the system from ookii.org never displayed Japanese on Calendar and Contacts..
Edit - I removed both the font and the input, and reset, and now all of the fields in the text messaging have gone!
Time for a Master reset ... and then set it up as an English device...
Thanks, larsuck, for all your help............ I will try ATOK in November, a Japanese friend who is a system engineer on Windows OS, will come back here... and he will help me. The ATOK page here is a bit too difficult for me to understand.

Well, its a bummer it never worked out. I certainly understand you getting tired of trying - it is a phone afterall.
I'll keep this thread bookmarked if you, or anyone else, wants to try again. Good luck with ATOK.
Hi larsuck!
Yes, so near but not so good to lose the use of the camera button, keyboard etc...
Interesting, I have placed some PC - Windows Japanese fonts into my Kaisers font directory, and using the software from ookii.org, I can input in Japanese into Pocket Word ( need to change from Tahoma font to a Japanese one )
and also input into the Japanese dictionary in English and Japanese.
I wish I knew how to make this font work with Calendar and Contacts !
There must be a way to change the default font for these applications...

Yea!!
Asukal replied to my pm and advised me like this
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010411]
“Keyboard Layout”=”00000409″
and hope hardkey will be used.
Good luck
The butttons and camera now work !!
Now to try, one by one, an input system!
Thanks soooo much to larsuck and Asukal for their support !
本当にどうもありがとうございます! 嬉しい!!!

I'm glad to see you got this working. I'm using a CHT9000 (TyTN One) right now, and am getting a TyTN II in 2 weeks when I visit Taiwan. I'll be sticking English WinMo6, but will need Japanese input and fonts.
The CAB from ookii doesn't include fonts or anything, so you do need Asukal's Let's Japan to make it all work. That is the combo I use on my CHT9000 (Asukal+ookii)
Hi chenga!
Yes, I used Asukal's lets Japan, and also now IME_31J_QVGA_31J and I am very happy....
Remember Asukals advice should your hard keys, jog dial, and hard keyboard stop working!
EDIT.... did a hard reset this weekend and, installed everything, and checked if MSN Messenger worked after each installation.
Then did a back-up.
After that, installed Japanese support and now MSN Messenger does not work.
It's a pity... I can't think of why....

Ok, go ahead and bash me, I have been trying for two weeks and still do not get it. I have read post over and over and simply do not understand the "computer lingo". I have a ATT Tilt 8925. I have installed the HTC Home screen with the customize application. I live in Thibodaux Louisiana and the only city I can get is New Orleans which is 60 miles away. My Tilt has a factory ROM and the only things i installed were:
HTC Home plugin
HTC home customize
fff Finger friendly finder
large start-up menu
opera mobile 8.65
I do understand that with a new patch I should be able to receive any city. The problem is I DO NOT understand or can not figure out what patch I need. I have read a lot of post, I do not know which one I need because of the "lingo" used. I am a police officers not a tech. Can somebody please assist me in getting my local weather by laying it down in layman's term!!! This would make my tilt complete. I know a lot of guys would be happy.
ok, go ahead and make fun of me, then after please help. If you are willing I would even be glad to give a call to someone.
Thanks again !!!
Ok, here is how I got mine to work. First install HTC home customizer. Then soft reset. Then in HTC home customizer, edit the city and save it to cutom.
Then copy the .dll file to your windows folder on your phone. Soft reset and everything should work.
BTW, unzip the dll file first before you paste it to the windows directory.
Ok, I installed the HTC Custom and it workng fine. I know how to enter the city of choice but I do not understand whats a .dll file, were its located and were to install it.
Are you talking about the windows folder under My Device? And once you show me were this .dll file is, any special place in the windows folder it needs to got. I guess I can cut and paste it there correct.
Thanks for the help, just need a little more info.
What a .dll file and were its located?
What I just did was download the attached file you had and unzipped it on my PC then transported it to my tilt. I cut and paste it under My Device>windows and and paste it at the bottom. Soft reset and still unable to gather data. When selecting a new city. I selected custom and enter my city (Thibodaux)> then my zip code "70301" then country USA. After each selection I tapped "X" to save and at the end I tapped exit.
Any thoughts
Nope thats it. Just soft reset & then go to the weather tap & it should sync.
When I enter my zip code do I enter anything else other than the numbers?
I noticed at the bottom of the tab it had some format/letter etc, all I enter was my zip code numbers?
Also should I be seeing other cities when I am on the home page when I tap the city icon. It only shows my city (Thibodaux).
I do notice when it is searching, the internet is running. Also from the factory it searches using MediaNet I beleive. Also, I am not using a proxy. All my internet setting are from the factory.
Is it possible I have the wrong HTC Cutomizer downloaed. I downloaded the
"v0.8" version the other one was the v1.0????
Tried again and after searching, unable to gather data ETC.
Again, thanks and help!!
I am going to try and install the HTC Customizer on the phone instead of the storage/memory card and see if that will amke a difference. The HTC home and cusotmizer work good being on the storage card. Anyway stand by and will try.
No different, same message; "unable to gather data from selected city"
Okay, Do this. DL the attached file. Unzip & Put both files in \windows directory.
Go to HHC customizer. select the weather tab, selesct custom database, select add city enter you city exactly like this (use your city info of course):
Palo Verdes, CA USA 90732
No periods in USA or after the state abbreviation.
You will only see the citys taht are entered into the custom database, that's why only the one shows up.
Ok, stand by
ok, I downloaded the attached file you have on your last post. I unzipped it on my device and put everything under windows then soft reset and still no luck. I did notice that your file had an Opera icon (weather cities) in it. The other that I downloaded from above did not have this.
Thank for you time, any other suggestions??
I have put so many different files in here to try and get it to work, I will just load my saved "back-up" and start again.
Any help from you guys!! I really would like this application to work. Everything else I have installed has worked w/o problems except this one.
Simple' I just want to be able to located my city!!!!
I can find it on any other weather program.
To make this clear, this are the programs I have installed, is there any more I need?
HTC Home plug In
HTC Home Customize (I believe that the weather patch is installed in this program already?/? correct??)
The attached .dll file that's attached above.
Is this all I need to retrieve other cities??
I am determinded to get this right, as you can see!
Unfortunately I'm not able to help you with the HTC Weather piece, but I am running PocketWeather from http://www.sbsh.net and checked and your city is available in there. So if you are unable to get this fix and still want weather, this is an option. Unfortunately it isn't free, but you could always download a trial and see if it works for you before buying.
Another free option would be WeatherToGo from http://www.tonaya.com/products/wtg/index.php but I don't know if they have your town in there or if it can be customized.
Good luck in your quest.
Thanks, I think I will just go ahead and purchase the sbsh weather.net program if I can not resolve this issue.
1. Install HTC Home Customizer 1.05 whic I think u said u did.
2. Start HTC1.05, in the weather tab, change your city and add to the custom database.
3. Soft reset.
4. Sync phone with pc. (its just easier this way, trust me)
5. Once synced copy the .dll file I uploaded earlier (using ur pc not the phone) and paste it to the windows folder of your phone.
6. Soft reset.
7. Now you must be able to access the internet with your phone for all of this to work. Click the weather tab and click in the area where it asks you to and it will download your weather data.
Hope this helps.
I downloaded the v0.8 version of the cutomizer, does this amake a difference?
Did you go back into customizer & re-enter the custom city data & make sure there are no periods?
I've followed your directions, when I tried to paste the dll file into my windows directory through my PC, the windows directory did not show up. So I tried to copy it from the my documents directory to the windows directory using the file explorer on the phone and it said it could not copy over the file due to access restrictions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in Idaho and the closest city I can get is 4 hours away.

Ok you are just trying to find an HTC Home that will let you get your local weather? If i am correct, then download and install these files in order:
http://weather.not2advanced.com/files/SdkCerts.cab
http://weather.not2advanced.com/files/htchome-2.1-n2a.cab
http://www.pocketemu.com/request11.html
Once all 3 are installed, run the customizer and set up your weather!
I've got mine to work with all the aforementioned assistance. However, it only updates the weather either via WIFI or ActiveSync. Is there no way to get this to work through the proxy?
Thanx.
Ericc191, thanks for that post. I'm wondering if that will make a city work that doesn't work when you edit the xml? I tried before doing the regedit change to add my code in, but it still couldn't find it through accuweather.
