To use an MDA III with the THB Bury hands free car kit you have to change the WAVEDEVdll file with a new one provided by THB BURY. This is quite easy with WM2003 but with WM2005 it will not let me replace it because it is a ROM file. Can anyone tell me if this is possible. If it is how, and please keep it simple.
Instead of removeing, can't you rename the original ?
In the worst case :
Rename the THB dll to THB-wdef.dll
do a search throug the registry, and change alle references tp wavedef.dll to THB-wdef.dll
It should do the same thing.
Copy your wavedev.dll you want to use (rename it to something like carkit.dll for example) to \Windows on your device. Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev and change the key "Dll" to whatever you want (in this case, carkit.dll). Turn off the device for 15 secs, do a soft reset.
Thank you for the info
thank you I have now changed the file in the registry and I will try it in my carkit today. I will keep you posted what happens.
yes it works fine
thank you so much for all the help ( its so easy when you know how ) tried it in the car kit and I now have audio through the speaker ( including tom tom, media player, etc ). I now have to try it with a phone call, when I had it working with wm2003 I had a few problems with the external microphone. I will post the results and any more questions that may occur. I hope this topic will help other users running wm2005 and tt5.1 with the THB Bury car kit.
thanks again Alex.
What's special about the wavedef.dll ? If the Carkit gets the audio through a cradle or the headsetconnectro now software would be needed. Is it a Bluetooth carkit ?
If so.... Coiuld you get me a copy of the .dll ?
wavedev.dll
this is the replacement file that allows audio to pass through the bottom contacts allowing a mda III to work with a THB BURY car-kit. If this is useful to you for that or any other reason please post a reply so others can benefit from your experiences.

Ok, nice.... But not for my situation...

Check out this link from PocketPCThoughts.com for a new Bluetooth patch from Broadcom for the PDA2K...
Fellow MVP Helio Diamant, of Pocket PC Freak, has gotten a fantastic little nugget for iMate PDA2k owners:
Quote:
A friend of mine has just come back from CES and brought with him a little CAB file that was being given by the guys from Broadcom there. They told him we can publish and offer for download, so I am putting it here to you guys too.
When installed, this CAB adds the following profiles to the Broadcom BT stack in the PDA2K:
1. High-Quality Audio
2. Keyboard
This means that those of you holding stereo headsets can now connect them to PDA2k and here music, navigation instructions, etc from the device. As well, Bluetooth Keyboards are supposed to work well.
Early reports suggest it works with a number of devices, including both HTC Blue Angel and HTC Harrier units; it might work with other Broadcom-based (i.e., Widcomm) Bluetooth units, but there's no guarantee. If you're interested in playing "with it, you can download the CAB here. Note: This update is unofficial and unsupported; install it at your own risk, and do a backup first! As far as I know, it's a RAM update, but I haven't tried it. Good luck if you do. "

Noviur,
On which device did you try ? i-Mate PDA2k?
cheers,
bins
install seems not to work
Just tried the cab install (both from my SD card and Program Files location - after resets), but nothing seems to have changed on my i-Mate PDA2k with Rom 1.22.162 WWE.
1. No BT Services were added (still only File Transfer, InformationExchange, Serial Port, Personal Network Server, Dial-up BNetworking Server, Hands-Free),
2. No update seems to have happened, all module versions remained at 1.0.0.3500 (except obviously the BTPluginManagerCE.exe [1.0.0.1]),
3. Despite the dialog box telling it is "writing information for Remove Programs" it can not be found back in the Remove Programs.
Any clues?
cheers,
bins
P.S. Just in case, and like Noviur, reverted with Sprite Backup
The version information in the package suggests 1.6.0.0600
did you install the 1.6.0.0600 upgrade before u installed this?
i installed it.. the new 2 profiles show up but the audio one doesnt work ..
i have pda2k
any help???
I installed the new patch on an SX-66. It doesn't upgrade the Bluetooth stack or provide new services. But it does add 2 new profiles. One for a Stereo audio headset (this won't work with a Hands free device since the profile doesn't include support for a MIC.) and one for a keyboard.
I also switched my Bluetooth stack to the 1.6 version posted here. This seems to be a stack based on Widcom as opposed to Microsoft. Although my device worked and seemed to pair faster my Handsfree device didn't come on when dialing the phone. So I switched back.
Remco, thx, installed the Broadcom 1.6.0.600 cab-file first and afterwards installed the PDA2k cab-file.
Update seems to have worked and indeed have the two new client profiles.
Will check in the store tomorrow if the HQ audio works indeed and if no other nuisances arise.
Will keep you in the loop.
cheers,
bins
Installed it on my Qtek9090 with rom 1.22.00/1.06.00/1337.38/1.22.556
I was able to bond my Logitech DiNovo keyboard to the PDA and use it !
It works very well, very cool to be able to type on a full size keyboard on your PDA.
I don't own a BT audio headset, so i wasn't able to test that.
All other devices like my GPS mouse, Bluetrek G2 headset etc. seem to work ok as they did before.
nop, it was I-Mate PPC. I new it is for PDA2K, but wanted to try it
Previously I installed Widcom BT 1.6.
No luck for me ... for now at least
Did it answer calls through the b/t headset? Mine wouldn't connect to the headset for outgoing or incoming calls. Also if it does work, which PDA2K cab did you use?
Thanks

I tried it on my HTC Himalaya. It wouldn't play any sound, not even callers voice. I had to hard reset the unit.
Good luck

Hi,
I just got my HP bluetooth headphones... and I absolutely love them!!!. The range is ok... not great, but enough to be considered fully usable. It crackles if there is some physical resistance between the MDAIII and the headphones, but other than that, they are awesome...
Anyone that is considering to get them, I highly recommend it. But be sure to have a 3500 bluetooth stack (with the extensions posted here of course) and Radio 1.06.02 (I am not sure whether 00 would do equally, but I recommend 02).
Treo
Me too. Can someone email me a copy of this file?

Thanks!
THB BURY carkit with MDAIII
before upgrading to wm5 I had to download a file called WAVEDEV.DLL and replace my WAVEDEV.DLL file with the new one. This enabled my pda to work with my thb carkit, now I have wm5 I cannot replace this file. I have tried renaming it, deleting it, and replacing it :?: . I suspect its something to do with the way the new rom works. Any  ideas anyone
has anyone bought a copy yet and tried it on the pda yet ,as i have a xda2i and as it not on teh compatable list i'm hesatent to buy a copy as yet ,all i wanna know does it all work ok
thanks
XDA 2i (M1500) + TT6
Andy,
Yup - the two seem fine together.
I've been running TT6 for a week now and all is well - the new maps are excellent.
I wasn't aware that the XDA 2i wasn't on the TT list, but all I can say is so far, so good!
Hope this helps

Isn't your tomtom 6 very slow?
It's terrible on my mda pro!
Regards,
Schmia
Schmia,
TT6 is fine on the 2i running very smoothly, but as with all of the previous versions I have found that it slows dramatically if you have the POIs showing as you drive.
The only POIs have active are Gatzo's etc.
Hope this helps
Snappy
cheers for info ....i might just get it just for the new maps then as i will have no buddies with tt6 so thats a waist and my mate bought his before this buddy stuff was out on the go's
GPS reciever / XDA11i
Hey guys/ gals
Which GPS reciever did you go for ? Im looking at a blue tooth one .
Also , how have you arranged the voice to be loudenough to hear ? plug in loudspeaker ? or combined with GPS ??
Seems like a mine field to me.
Astro1
I bought the TomTom II BT GPS unit. Works very well.
I also have a ARKON powered PDA mount - it has two USB ports to provide power to your PDA and another device, a 5v jack for power to a BT GPS and an audio input to connect your PDA to amplify the sound. It works very well. Sorry can't remember the model number (?CM720). It comes supplied with cables for the audio, GPS power and USB-XDA (you specificy PDA model when ordering). Neat windscreen mount - recommended.
I use the Holux CR-100 GPS cradle which charges my XDA 2i, provides GPS and has a built in speaker which you can connect the 2i to. Only thing is that the phone MUST be in flight mode or the interferance from the radio stack on the speaker is blooming awful.
Other than that highly recommended.
Using TT6 on an Orange M1500, works OK but have an issue with BT headsets dropping out and not able to discover their services again until full reset. I am trying it out again with iGo software to see if the problem is just with TT6, have a Bluenext BT GPS device.
trblay,
I had the same issues with TT6 on the M1500 but managed to solve them by editing the install cab file to omit the BT stack upgrade.
For some reason the M1500 doesn't like anything other than the original stack to be installed.
- works a treat now with the phone talking to my Parrot BT car kit whilst using TT6
The phone POI function in TT6 really is a joy to use... call any destination (usually a Pub) and book a table for lunch... easy!
Hope this helps
Cool Thanks Snappy-xda, bet you know what my next question is going to be how do I edit the install cab file???
Also have you managed to get full 6/7 digit postcodes to work? I can only get the first 3/4 digits to work so gave up and rolled back to TT5....also I have loads of favourites programmed in and no way to transfer them to TT6....
Cheers Again,
Tony.
It works fine, But it has issues with the Bluetooth Driver...
If you have a bluetooth headset, it has problem connecting it after the TT6 install...
It will only work after a hard reset!
@Snappy-xda
Would you please explain how to edit the cab install to omit the bluetooth stack update as this stops my handsfree working after installing Nav 6. I had to revert to Nav 5.
artful
1. download WinCE CAB Manager 2.0.0.13 from here http://downloads.cnet.co.uk/0,39100207,39183699s,00.htm. 15 free use trail but you'll only need to use it once
2. make a backup of the tomtom 6 cab file just in case
3. then open the tomtom 6 cab file in the CAB Manager
4. on the left side panel click on files which displays the files in the cab and the install path of the file etc.
5. then delete from the list ttn6bt2003.dll, BtCoreIf.dll, BtSdkCE30.dll (these are the files i deleted from the cab and seems to work fine, not sure what the heck each does lol)
6. click save and upload the new cab file with the omitted files to you xda and install as per normal.
tested on my xda IIi and my xda II and works fine...
haven't tried too see if i can use the headset and my GPS at the same time yet but i hear you can't since the xda is bluetooth 1.1 or something and you can only use one bluetooth device at a time.
i use a globalsat bt-359, VERY good receiver IMO. i can get a signal inside my house! 7 satellites! and my tomtomGO500 doesn't even get a signal in the house.
@ironfin
Thanks - will try this.
I use a Globalsat BT338 and it's superb. I already had a TTGO700 before I got the XDA IIi so that's the only time I use the handsfree - don't need handsfree and Nav6 to work at the same time as I usually only use Nav6 on the XDA when I'm not in my own car.
Thanks.
artful
@ironfin
Works perfectly now - Thanks.
artful
thanks, works perfect now - i can make calls on my bluetooth parrot carkit while getting navigated by tomtom 6 using my bluetooth gpslim
gps receiver.
Big Thanks....
Thanks ironfin, I will give it a try.
Anyone managed to get 6/7 digit postcodes to work? I can only get TT6 to recognize 3/4 digits.....
Also is there any way to transfer favourites from TT5-TT6, i've had a look on this forum but cannot find anything that helps.
my postcodes work fine. make sure you have the file named 'zip' in the 'Navigator' folder within 'Program Files'

You are a star mate - my xdaIIi now works with both tt6 and bluetooth headset -- note - i have a tomtom bluetooth gps - tt6 does not see it as a tt6 blutooth gps reciever - so u need to configure ( mine was com 6 ) as other bluetooth devices . and bingo ! - it works -
all cred to ya ...... weby
Hi,
This is my first post so please be easy on me
I am an ICT Engineer and I am having problems with one of my customers HTC Kaiser (re-badged as Orange TyTN II).
He has an THB Bury cradle. The Kaiser has TomTom installed (Orginal disc version 6 navigator), but when the phone is docked in the cradle it goes to Cra Kit profilr and he gets no sound from TomTom.
I have changed the profile, but still no sound from TomTom. I have checked the cradle it it works fine apart no sound for sat nav.
I have searched for hours on loads of forums to find a fix for this i.e. new ROM from Orange or patch from THB, but can't find anything.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix i.e. registry alternation.
Is there anything within the TomTom settings for this.
It might be that this is the way it will work, afterall you do not want the TomTom coming out over the audio of the telephone call.
Thanks for the reply.
We used to use the Orange SPV M2000 (HTC BlueAngel) with TomTom using the same hands free kit (different cradle obviously) and never had a problem. The sat nav audio would work as normal, but when a call came in the sat nav would cut out until the call had finished.
I have have been through the TomTom settings (very limited) and cannot see anyway of changing the audio on it.
It seems more like a HTC Kaiser problem rather than TomTom or the cradle, because it worked fine with a BlueAngle.
Just found this on a THB Bury re-sellers site: -
"Please note: When the Phone is put into the cradle, the Phone will immediately go into car kit profile, which means the external speaker will be disabled [loss of sound for the Sat Nav directions]"
Is the registry hack to stop this happening?
Have you tried using the tomtom and checking there is audio working ok without putting it in the cradle?
Yep. TomTom works absolutly fine out of the cradle. I have even bought a new cradle to check if the original cradle was defect, but still no sound.
To summarise: -
TomTom audio working fine out of THB Bury HFK
TomTom stops working when in THB Bury HFK (enters Car Kit Profle)
Could you not move the handsfree cradle to maybe a vent mount solution so that when you are in the car you can view the TomTom directions instead of hearing them?
Personally I would find yor situation ideal as I hate SatNav voice commands and prefer to navigate from the map.
I got a response from THB Bury about this problem:
"Dear Alistair, many thanks for your enquiry regarding our Bury product range.
The Navigationcommand didn´t run over the carkit, because the Navigationsoftware got no software for muting.
Best regards
Dean Taylor
--Bury-Infoline-- "
Not really what I needed so.....
Does anyone know either how to doctor the USB connector so that it doesn't cause the phone to switch to 'car mode' OR a registry/software fix which stops the TnTY/Stellar from muting its internal speaker when in 'Car' mode?
Failing that I need a new car kit which, holds the phone, charges it, provides hands free phone service, allows TT6 audio instructions through and doesn't blow the USB port. Just like the THB Bury 'Universal' kit should do.
Any recommendations? Alistair
After updating my MDA2 from WM 2003 to WM 6.1 there will be no more sound connection with my original T-Mobile car kit. What the hell is changed in 6.1? Is there a registry tweak? If not, how can I downgrade to WM2003? I don´t find any ROMs for 2003 here. I can get a MDA2 with WM2003. Can I create a image from this one and restore my MDA?
Rolf
No, problem to get a T-Mobile WM 2k3 ROM, you can download it there:
http://www.xda-zone.de/thread.php?id=3373
or O2 ROM here: http://www.o2online.de/nw/business/hilfe/download/xdaupdate/older/xda2/index.html
Which of the 6.1 roms do you upgrade to? I have got a car kit too, but I usually don´t use it. I´ll try it if I can find some time to spend it, on it.
Interesting issue
Ups, that was my first double post, so I have to edit it.
Which FSE do you want to try? Mine is the original xda II car kit and it worked well with teijaks WM6.0 german rom, as I tried it last time.
Or do you miss the possibility use the phone without pressing it on your ear, if it to loud around like in a car. In this case try to install the small app speakerphone. It gives you back the (free speaking) function to switch the speaker loud.
BTW: It took me about seven seconds the links, by simply google (xda update rom download). And don´t be pissed:
There is a very strong medicine, to the most interesting issues, called: search in the top row of buttons of this forum.
So use you brain power, it the best weapon you have.
And a good hint for all the brave guys, who want to upgrade for the fist time:
First you have to collect all you need, to switch back to your original rom, cause:
The good girls go to heaven, but the bad girls go everywhere!
So, good luck
Sebastian
To Rolf PM me if you have probs to discuss.
Hello muckelmaus,
It´s the wm6_1_Himalaya_GER_rom_by_efsane.
You think it´s a bug in this ROM?
Do you have another?
But where can I download a T-Mobile 2K3 ROM?
I tried searching for hours in the net. Also in the WIKI. Nothing. Or I am blind?
The MDA will be charged, but there is no switch to the car speakers. Only the build in speaker is working. So the FSE is sinceless. So it must be the OS, cause it is no hardware switch. I checked with my XDA2i, and this is working. But the sound is bad. No basses. Maybe the FSE is only working with WM2003 (not with WM2003se)? I connect it with a high/low level adapter to my radio, and this is working fine with the MDA2 with WM2003. Great sound with Pocket Music. I also buyed a original XDA car kit at ebay for € 2,46 but didn´t test it at this time. I was really happy after finding the registry tweak that don´t cut my notes in the contacts, cuase everything seemed to be working, and now I am pissed.
So I really need help.
On you qestion of your fist post, there is a way to ripp your rom out of your device, as swampy395 described it, to recook roms, but then you are on the way to build your own rom.
I don´t know if it is a bug of this ROM you tried but ther are some other german rom in here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379017 including my fully loaded version of Athers Dark Edition
Btw: which reg tweak you are talking about?
Hello Sebastian,
Thank´s for reply.
My FSE ist the original T-Mobile. Before upgrading to 6.1 my MDA2 is working fine with the car speakers. Now he is sending no sound to my radio, only the MDA internal speaker is working. Before I can listen to musik over my car radio, and a call is coming, he will switch to telefone, after ending, the musik is comming back. I don´t install the added speaker, cause I want to hear stereo. So the HL/LL adapter.
The links that you found are WM2003se links. But I am looking for WM2003.
Wait, I send you a PM.
Martell
EDIT: Found T-Mobile WM2003 at [URL="https://after-sales-service.t-mobile.de/eg_online/t-mobile/t_mda_2.htm[/URL].
Downgrade and now car kit is working.
But why?
