Hello,
Some time ago, I had a problem with phone freezing on the IPL/SPL screen after flashing. I have solved it by creating and restoring SD-backup. Everything is OK, but now when I enter bootloader, it still asks me to restore SD image with that countdown despite the fact that I've already formatted SD after restoring the backup. It isn't any error, as the phone gets into the bootloader mode after countdown. However, I still want to ged rid of this, because I once accidentally pressed Voice command two times when I wanted to enter bootloader and Oops - it began formatting whole BINFS. So I had to flash ROM and everything else again which was very annoying. So how can I get rid of that screen?
That means that the first 0x200 bytes of your SD still have the SD backup information. If you have a card-writer you can fix it by getting a hex-editor program and make a file with, lets say... 0x10000 bytes of nulls (zeros), and then use a tool by itsme called psdwrite to write that file to the start of the card.
Then i think by using it like that in Wizard the WM OS asks to format it.
good luck
PS:
Do you have a backup of that SD backup? I think it's the most important thing a Wizard user can do is to keep an image of the entire phone. Don't get rid of it!
EDIT:
Actually, you don't need a card writer because psdwrite can use your PPC as one Just be sure to list all devices to know which is the Wizard
hmm I've already formatted a card, so the backup is gone but I can make another backup.. Can I use that psdwrite to restore a SD backup into some file I can store into my desktop PC? Because I need to use the SD normally.. I mean, I backup files from SD, format it, make SD backup again, then use the psdwrite to extract that backup from card, then use psdwrite to "clean" the card and format it and restore backed-up files..

Exactly what i did
I made a backup with r2sd all and then used psdread.exe to copy it to my PC (where it's quite safe, including a CD backup). If i ever come to need it i simply use psdwrite.exe to pass it back to the SD and use it to restore my Wizard
THX.
Could you pls. post the link to the psdwrite?
EDIT: I found something at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=224536&highlight=psdwrite . Is it current or is there any new version?

I'd advise you to read the wiki and also browse through wilem's (itsme) site and look for the latest package of his itsutils

EDIT:
latest update from 3 days ago
Ok, I have the PSDread. How many bytes should I copy from SD to BIN file to get entire SD backup from card?

I can't recall exactly as i'm at work now but the mtty program should display the backup size.
Another solution is to go to the Typhoon wiki in this forum and make a sum of all the areas of the ROM/DOC... or i can give a more precise answer later on when i get home
Ok, I'll wait.. So far I have made backup of first 145 MBytes (that should be enough) but exact value would be appreciated.

Ok, my dump is exactly 73.927.168 bytes so i guess that looking around that location you might see the end of the file.
Saving about 75/80MB of the dump will probably include all the data but the really best option is to blank the SD card before making the backup and then see where the last bytes are and the just crop.
In the end it doesn't really matter the bytes after the end since the phone won't use them at all
cheers
I normally can install roms but for some reason i can't anymore, when i copy the file to my memory card the ".nbh" part dissapears from the name, and when i try to install it, my phone says there are no images. Any ideas?
maybe you are hiding the extension for known formats on your pc.
it is an windows explorer setting.
fast solution : simply rename the file directyl on your phone via totalcommander or file explorer and you are good to go.
regards

Simle copy CustomRUU into directory where Kovsimg.nbh or ruu_signed.nbh extracted.

Thank You so much , thankfully it worked.
One problem though, SEUS can't regonise my phone, i flashed a generic UK rom and thats it, any ideas ?
it because of the hard-spl
if you already have r3 then theres no point using SEUS
the only reason you would use it is if you want to return it to warranty, but even so flashing back soft-spl and generic rom would be fine!
SEUS is really jus useless

yeah i need to send it for repair, so how do i get rid of the hard spl.
I've read it can be done on other phones is it posible to do on a cdma diamond, i found this on ppc geeks
Here's what I did:
Hard Reset Phone
Download Raphael_CDMA_HSPL_037.exe and SSPLManual_Raphael.zip
Transfer Raphael_CDMA... to an empty folder on the desktop of your VM
Run Raphael_CDMA (but don't use it)
Now look in the above folder and find RUU_Signed.nbh and move to the root of your SD card
Use a file utility on your phone to rename RUU_Signed.nbh to RAPHIMG.nbh
Put SSPLManual on your SD card and run the program
It should now flash your SPL
To test boot into bootloader and it should say 0.37.CMONEX
Delete RAPHIMG.nbh
Now to flash a custom ROM download one and find the file RUU_Signed.nbh... move it to the root of the SD card... rename it to RAPHIMG.nbh (using the phone) and enter the bootloader (hold power, volume down, and push the reset button)... it should now flash the ROM
Hope this helps... I know it can be frustrating when you don't want to screw anything up!
does anyone know if the files for diamond exist?
just download the spl/rom woteva, rename the .nbh file to diamimg.nbh copy it to the root of ur internal storage, hold vol down & back while pressing the reset button ( i think, mite be ok instead of back i cant remember) lol when prompted press the power button to flash the image, it should work the same way with hspl
Guys just be careful here. I believe that flashing the HARD SPL can or should only be done via PC.
Flashing ROMs/Radios can be done the SD memory way as you described above.
Enjoy!

Happy Flashing!
See... this is how people screw their phones up.
You're in the CDMA Diamond section.
Either you're posting in the wrong section, or you have a Verizon Diamond. None of the other CDMA Diamonds have SD slots. Now, the VZW Diamond hasn't been unlocked yet, so any Hard SPL or custom ROM, or whatever that you might find, isn't for your device. You will brick your phone.
Now, again.... you may just be posting in the wrong forum, or you may be saying SD, when you really mean Internal Storage, but for what you actually typed, nothing good can come from trying to flash anything, from SD or otherwise.
i posted here because infact i do have a cdma diamond. i mean the internal storage, sorry for any confusion there may have been.
but the internal storage behaves jus as in sd card would,

Dear all,
I have downloaded and run the hard_spl on my Xperia X1 and flashed the rom ROM successfully, and I have downloaded the 28244 sencity energyrom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562935 and copied it on the root of my SD.
when I enter the bootloader screen to flash from the SD I get the message
" No image file! "
I have followed the instructions and made sure that the image is on the root of the SD and made sure the image name is KOVSIMG.nbh as instructed.
please advice.
thanks and regards,
Solved.
the SD format must be FAT32 in order to flash.
special thanks to all the XDA developers who made the roms and the guids happens.

Would have been wise to read a bit more about the µSD flashing method - glad you finally found it yourself.
Hello,
I am so new to this it is not even funny. I have been relentlessly trying to root an SD card for my nook. I am following the thread on this site that gives step by step instructions and all links - ([ROM][CM7] [v1.3] Size-agnostic SD Card image and CM7 installer for SD Cards.). When I download the "image" at the beginning of the steps - the one you have to unzip- my computer downloads it as a .bin file and nothing, and I mean nothing, I have tried will unzip that damn image. I have burned through 2 SD cards trying. I do not know what to do. I have downloaded every unzip utility on both Mac and Windows to no avail. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

Something is wrong with your PC. It should have a single file in the zip that ends in .img. Try downloading with your nook or a different PC. (Also some PCs hide the .zip ending from you, which I think really sucks.)

OKay so I used a different computer - Windows this time, I use a Mac. and I burned the image to an SD and all necessary files. When I loaded it into my nook I got the penguin and the blue script, but then it says Initial install files not found please download from nook.linuxhacker.ru
Any ideas what that is about?

Yes, you need to rename the rom zip file with update- at the beginning. CM changed their naming standard to cm-. You obviously did not use my image or that would have been fixed. You will have to rename the zips everytime you flash a new one.

I dont know how to add the extension update- to the file, it will not let me make changes to it. So I downloaded your file and I was wondering if I am supposed to unzip them? When I do unzip them I get two files that my computer doesnt recognize and one is named uRecIMG and one is uRecRAM. What am I supposed to do with those files?? Sorry to be a total bother I am just totally clueless. Thanks

Yes, unzip them. Just put the card in your PC and copy those two files to the SD. They will replace the two files that are there. That's all there is to it. Next time you boot to sd recovery it will use those files instead of the old ones. And it will recognize the new file names for the rom zips.

Thank you so so much for all your help. Unfortunately my SD is only 2GB and it says there is not enough room to place to the new files on the SD. I guess I will have to buy a larger card when I can (which sucks I was sooo close). I just wanted to make sure I thanked you for all the help and advice and walking this noob through it. Something is very wrong there. Those two files are tiny. And they are replacing files already there so should take no more room. You were probably not taking the card out and putting in your PC. You were probably plugging in the USB cable. You need to do the first thing. Put card in PC.
Edit: Something is really wrong with your Mac. First it will not download or read the zips right, then it will not let you rename the rom .zip and now it will not let you copy files to the boot partition. It is your Mac that is the problem, not the card size.

I was placing the card into the PC. Also I didnt use my Mac for the card, I used a Windows PC. I followed all the instructions from verygreen when making the card and used Winimage to write it. When I insert the card into my computer I get two different files a boot that contains the boot.bin file and the ram and image files. And then there is a seperate file/drive on the sd labeled SD cm7.
If I make a new SD card, do I use verygreens' image file and then add your two files or do I use your two files only or is there another file I am missing? I might end up paying the 40 for the SD card already done, though I really hate t spend the money if I could just get it right.
Anyway thanks for everything....again!!! and I am sorry for my incompetence
(continued from above) I am attaching screenshots of what the SD card contains when i plug it into the computer.

If you are going to start fresh, use my image zip file. Follow verygreen's instructions but use my image file. It is on the same post you got the updated files. It already has the updated files on it. Then it will install the rom zips that have the new naming standard (cm-).

Yes. But to get back to stock to just run it, press the n key while the cyanoboot logo first shows and the boot menu comes up. Then you can choose to boot to emmc, which in your case is stock. Or just take the card out.
