[Q] problem in flashing new rom from the SD - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear all,
I have downloaded and run the hard_spl on my Xperia X1 and flashed the rom ROM successfully, and I have downloaded the 28244 sencity energyrom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562935 and copied it on the root of my SD.
when I enter the bootloader screen to flash from the SD I get the message
" No image file! "
I have followed the instructions and made sure that the image is on the root of the SD and made sure the image name is KOVSIMG.nbh as instructed.
please advice.
thanks and regards,

Solved.

Definitely not a genius, but I have upgraded my SD card before without problem. I don't use switchrom, so I can't verify that part. For the rest of it make sure you do a BART/NANDROID backup from recovery, including the ext partition if you have one. These files will reside on the FAT32 part of the card.
With a card reader on a PC you can select all and copy everything to an empty folder somewhere. Either format the new card on the PC for FAT32 if you don't need any other partitions, or from RA recovery on the phone if you need ext or swap. Copy all the contents to the new card on the PC and do a restore from recovery for the ext stuff. You may want to wait for one of the guys that use switchrom to verify this method will work for you.
Thaanks for the info oldnoob but is it possible for u or anyone else to show me how to this with clockwork recovery I would prefer a step by step or if someone can post a video link or a link to a thread thanks and sry for being so demanding

Galaxy Tab P1000-Need Rom arabic enabled

Hi Everyone
I recently bought a new Galaxy Tab P1000. Everything is just great, but the problem is that i doesnt support arabic. Letters on websites are disconnected.
What I kindly need, is info on what ROM shall I flash. I've read the the JPJM4 is newer than JPJK5 and its arabic enabled. I dont want an arabic interface, I just need arabic language support.
Kindly provide me with the link to download the ROM from.
I've read that my ROM might be bootloader protected, so I have to unlock it first. Do I have to convert the File system ?
And I have to back up my ROM on the SD also, in case something went wrong.
Do I need to flash only the ROM alone ( using Odin 1.7 + the drivers installed ( I have windows 7 ), or I have to flash something else? I've read about the procedures on how to flash it and there shouldnt be a problem. I've read also that some people flash from the Micro SD attached.
Any helps are hughly appreciated.
Thanks.
Hi, I'm currently using arabic enabled rom from Galaxyer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933028
My SGT was not locked so I've no problem flashing it. You will need to unlock your tab first, the instructions can be found somewhere else in the forum. After that, just follow the instructions to flash the rom. I simply follow every instruction and never encounter any problem at all.
Thanks for your kind reply.
1- Im downloading the ROM provided in the link u posted.
2 - I'll install the app that Unloack the bootloader in case if it was locked.
3 - Is it a must to load and flash my kernel using MoDaCo Kernel Ext4 ? What about the PIT ?
4 - Do I back my ROM on SD before i Proceed in case something went wrong ?
Thanks again, its really a good joy to find kind members like you to offer help on the spot

You don't need the PIT file. Just flash the MoDaCo kernel as PDA using Odin 1.7 (do not select Repartition). After that, you don't even need Odin for the rest of the process. Just make sure that you inserted the external SD Card and it have enough free space to backup the applications during the conversion to ext4. Without the SD Card, the conversion won't proceed and you'll stuck there until you insert an SD Card and restart SGT.
If you're already using CMW, then you can do a Nandroid backup of your ROM to the SD Card. If you're not, then don't worry, follow the instructions correctly and insya Allah nothing bad will happen.
-the thanks should go to all those who have done the hard work to provide us with the roms and guides
Urgent help please.
I installed the patch and applied it, the TAB isnt bootloader locked, great.
I loaded Modaco Kernel ext4 in download mode, the Tab restarted. At this point, I disconnected the TAB from PC and restarted Tab in Recovery mode with new ROM zip installed on formatted SD Card ( FAT32 ). Im getting a message :
E: Failed to mount / system (invalid argument )
/system may be rfs. Checking..
E: Failed to mount / data (invalid argument )
/data may be rfs. Checking...
.

.
File System need to be converted to ext4.
E: Failed to mount /SD Card (no such file or directory )
Cant mount /sdcard
Please Help, Im stuck here.
* The micro SD is 4GB, might it be the problem, does it have to be 8GB ?
i recommend Overcome kernel for two reasons; firstly, after applying the kernel from odin the tab restarts and all filesystem conversions are done automatically with a robot voice narrating the progress! the future additions and roms can be installed from internal storage be it 16gb or 32gb no sd cards required!Plus multiple enhancements like voodo sound mod updated! I installed the galaxyer rom on the overcome kernel!
4GB is fine, I used 4GB too. FYI, the first time I got stuck exactly where you're because I removed the external SD Card, thinking that it is better to flash it without any card. Turns out that the SD Card is needed for the conversion, so I just switch off the tab (long press on the power button), inserted the sd card and restarted in recovery mode and the conversion went without a glitch. But make sure you've charged your tab because the process takes some time.
Hi.
Sorry for the delay in posting back.
Turned out that the MicroS SD was "bad"... Replaced it with another one and the conversion went smooth.. The file system was converted, the backup was made and I chose the new ROM from Micro SD Card. Everything went smooth but it didnt take too much time !!!!
Anyways, its all fine now, thanks all for ur time.

[Guide]Rooting after AlphaRevX!

Should also work with Revolutionary!
Okay, it took me some trying and stuff but I finally found a way!
Okay, this is going to be simple step-by-step
First: Copy this to the root of your SD card: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=548407&d=1300751790
Second: Go into HBOOT and click yes when it asks you to update (note: Please make sure your SD card is FAT32 and not FAT, it must be FAT32 for this step to work.)
Third: Remove the img file from your SD card and add this file: http://downloads.noshufou.netdna-cdn.com/superuser/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
Fourth: Go into HBOOT and click Recovery!
Fifth: Click install zip from sdcard (or some thing like that) (Protip: Navigate in the recovery with the trackpad, not the power button!)
Sixth: Click choose zip from sdcard
Seventh Locate your zip and let it update.
AND YOU'RE DONE!
Have fun being free!
If you're having problems with the HBOOT not detecting the .zip update, please check if you SD card is FAT32.
"Second: Go into HBOOT and click yes when it asks you to update"
i go into hboot bt it doesn't ask me to update!!!
Make sure you SD card is FAT32
Link doesn't work , fix it please.

Copy the zip on the sd card , not just the image that is in it.... Just put the zip on sd and go to hboot.

thanks, it was fat. i've formatted it to fat32!
Yea, FAT seems to just not work with the update :/
And you can check if it's FAT32, by connecting it to the pc, then right clicking on the SD card drive and choosing properties.
what version of recovery is?
nvm -and can i install only super user and then get from market rom manager and install recovery via it?tx
worked here after i've formatted to fat32...thank for your tutorial
3.2.0.0 if I'm not mistaken.

Hello,
Here is a short Guide to get S-OFF if you are at HBOOT 0.80:

2. Download RUU Buzz Froyo HTC WWE 2.22.405.1 Radio 13.55.55.24H 3.35.20.10 release 160191 signed.exe
3. Connect your Plhone to your PC and Install it, after 10 minutes you are on HBOOT 1.01.0001
4. Download Alpharev follow the instructions and install.

You ony have to Restore your ROM and enjoy!
Sorry for my bad English.

[Q] About to smash my old G1, please help me load a custom rom.

so I found my old G1 and decided to install a newer version of android. Did a search and learned I needed to root it first, so I did it following THIS GUIDE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480
I Did every step well. Now in order to install a custom rom, at the end of the page it says:
Download the image.
Rename it to update.zip.
Copy it to your phone's SD card.
Turn your phone off.
Start up in recovery mode by holding Home and pressing Power.
Press alt-W to wipe your device. (You need to do this, or the device may hang at the flashing Android screen)
Press alt-S to apply the update.
There are links for custom roms in the same page but none of them work.. So i searched myself for a new rom and found "Froyo by Lazzo", put it in the SD card and renamed it to update.zip, installed the zip succesfully but when it reboots it just hangs in the black G1 screen...
What am I doing wrong?

you need to update your radio to 2708/2825 and spl 0013d, and format your sd card to ext 4.

Thanks very much for your help... but I am so freaking confused/frustrated still. I we t to the threads you mentioned, downloaded a single zip file called "dream2708kit" that comes with the radio and spl. How do I install those files? by selecting on "install zip from sdcard" in recovery?
I tried installing the zip containing the two files (spl and radio) but as I expected got an error saying there are two files... how do I install each one at a time?? thanks very much for your help...

its ok, i know how it feels, be very careful because the process of upgrading your radio and spl is potentially dangerous and can cause a brick, so make sure to follow every direction as instructed.
here are guides to updating radio and spl:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983834
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098899
fastboot method is much safer, but if recovery method is the only way you can do this, go for it, but be extremely careful.
Thanks, finally installed hboot and the radio I needed, still with partitioning troubles.... lets forget the rom I wanted in the first post, I found this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036283
I have the correct radio, followed instructions and it hangs in the black G1 screen... must be because I am having troubles understanding how to partition the damn sd card!
I am stuck in this step "partition your sd card: swap(64M+),EXT4(AT LEAST 256M),FAT32" so...how do I do that?
I have the RA v1.7 recover, so when I go to "partition sd card" I get the following options:
Partition SD
Repair SD:ext
SD:ext2 to ext3
SD:ext3 to ext4
Which one should I choose to complete this step: swap(64M+),EXT4(AT LEAST 256M),FAT32
When I choose the 1 option it allows me to set the swap size as well as the Ext2 one,
but if I select any of the two other options it just partition the SD without allowing me to chnge the sizes...
Its actually pretty simple.
Ok, so heres what your going to do.
We are going to partition through recovery:
boot into recovery
go to the partition sd card option
click partition sd card
use these sizes:ext 2: 512 mb, linux swap :64, and the rest is for the fat 32 partition
then once that is done, click ; SD:ext2 to ext3 :: Convert ext2 to ext3
then once that is done, click : SD:ext3 to ext4 :: Convert ext3 to ext4
and u now have ext 4!
and there ur done.

It doesn't matter what format it is, when you click format sd card, your formatting it to ext 2. What I mean by the rest for fat32 is because your sd card will have 3 partitions, sd ext, swap, and whatever is left of the sd card after choosing the sizes for sd ext and swap, will go towards fat 32.
So just follow my steps again and see if it works, if not are you sure its your sd card? Did you flash the appropriate kernel for the rom to boot? Your supposed to flash a kernel after flashing the rom. Your probably doing everything else right except that. Flash the kernel recommended in the rom thread.

ok well after you partition your sd card you need to upgrade to ext 3 and than upgrade to ext4!! my partition pref is '128mb swap and 1024mb ext4'

[Q] Need help for instal custom rom

Hi, im a new user, and i tried to instal custom rom by watching video guide of installing a custom rom, and i followed it very carfully. However, once i got to the part where i pasted the nbh file from my pc to my storage card. removed the usb cable. turned off my phone and then got to the tri color bootloader screen it says " no image file found" can someone help me please?
Which ROM you tried to flash??
for sd-method to work, the img-file needs to be named "kovsimg.nbh" (without the ""), otherwise bootloader won't recognize it. make sure it's named that way and check if you're able to see file-extensions (if not it could be "kovsimg.nbh.nbh").
I try to flash Dynamics_GTX_2.2.0_WWE rom when I failed I tried to flash 6.5_V4.0F because I thought maybe something is wrong with Dynamics rom or maybe I do something wrong. I instaled 0.78.OliNex Hard-SPL. I change rom name to kovsimg.nbh but it still write that "No image gile"
P.S. Sorry for my bad english
Maybe you need to reformat your SD card to FAT32 again, after that put the kovsimg.nbh to the SD card and try again, I face this problem before but after I reformat the SD card, it works..
