Install imate PDA2 ROM, IR range will be incresed !!! - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

I have just discovered that the infradred strength of SPV M1500/XDA IIi is not as weak as people thought. After installing Imate PDA2 rom on my brother's XDA IIi, now I can controll my TV and DVD player in distance of nearly 4 metres. How cool is this?

What is the actual spec of the ROM you used (e.g. radio version etc etc)?

and what software for that you use?
can you describe it in details please?

I used the latest Imate rom with Novii Remote Deluxe. 4 metres away from TV and DVD player, work perfectly ok which I was not able to do with XDA IIi ROM.

Mine qtek 2020i works up to 2 meters, maybe little more... but not 4 and not even 3 meters...=((
Did anyone try to remove black cover from IR and see if work distance increases? I wanted to try - but have no tools to remove it - and doing by only hands - Iam afraid to break it and loose my warranty..=((

The black cover just pops off without need for any tools.
I have not got remote program installed yet!

I know, I just was afraid that I can break it...
recently I removed cover and tested IR without cover.Removing it increased IR working distance from to 2.5 to almost 4 meters... not much but 4 meters suits my needs.

What software do you use?
Thanks!

Could you post the info of the device using this ROM? e.g. date of ROM, version number etc.

Installed, working and satified
Today I have installed the kit in my car, even the GPS is working fine, this however took a lot of reverse engineering.

Yes for the carkit, maybe for the GPS
If your looking for a simple, hassle free carkit that works fine --> Yes
If your looking for the above AND want to hookup your existing GPS AND are not afraid to do some handy work --> Yes
Else, wait for the O2 GPS and buy the O2 carkit+GPS (to be released next CEBIT).

O2 XDA Flame or HTC Kaiser

I am happy to say this. I am disappointed with the HTC Kaiser very much. I was expecting something more.
Instead I think that something more can be satisfied with O2 XDA Flame.
That is why I am sending my HTC Kaiser to my uncle and getting an O2 XDA Flame on Monday. I am all about performance and size. And O2 XDA Flame completely outcasts HTC Kaiser even in terms of price.
What do you all think?

if your talking about graphics and gaming, you will find the flame exactly the same or maybe even worse, who knows..
if you were trying to play games and they were slow it's cuz they probably dont support the kaiser's chip. all it needs is GDI or OpenGL to work. I think the Kaiser actually supports more than the flame does atm.

Well I need help deciding. I dont want to keep like 10 devices. I want one device. The perfect best in performance. Has the best Techinical detail and parts.
Which should i choose.
O2 XDA Flame,
HTC Athena or
HTC Kaiser.
I have already tried out HTC Athena and I have the HTC Kaiser in my hand. So i will pretty much understand all advise you all shall offer.
i had flame before kaiser. i like kaiser much better over my flame. first of all, the size is much more realistic nowadays. kaiser is much easier to put in pants pocket or jacket pocket compare to flame although the weight is quite the same. second, flame doesnt have GPS non 3.0 camera. WM6 is more stable. Flame has better gfx and bigger screen for sure. i will pick kaiser over flame for sure anytime. eric
For me,
Flame :
- Is bigger compared to Kaiser, not fit in my pocket
- Does not have GPS (and I like to have 1 device for all if possible)
- Camera is not 3MP
- Battery drain is worse
More info check out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305686
Kaiser:
- Right size
- GPS is nice and working fine
- Camera is 3MP
- Battery is good
Does Flame run WM 6 Pro? If not, too bad ...
Screen? Hmm it is nice to have 3.5 but I am not sure about the quality.
Seriously, what kind of applications do you want to run that require heavy CPU power?
I found Kaiser is not that slow and I have no complain for my day-to-day usage
Yes Kaiser is not that slow. hehe. And when those huge microSDHC cards come we will be somewhere on equal grounds with XDA Flames storage. It has the same CPU as Universal. So that is pretty good cause the CPU is nice and fast. For battery I dont care much.
I love that GPU though. Also I love VGA display more then QVGA. I think it is perfect device for me for watching video and gaming. Its worth a try.

Yes. I am still very confused. I have to decide today what to keep. XDA Flame or Kaiser or Athena... which one should i keep :S :S :S :S
Good News! I decided to keep my HTC Kaiser. And go for O2 XDA Flame as well!
And so does anyone know where i can get the O2 XM-02 Infrared Keyboard accessory. It is mainly used with O2 XDA Atom models.

just looking at your sig Why do you need so much phone? i got the htc x7500 and the kaiser and they are enough for me. i got the 6gb card today and kaiser runs well except internet explorer bug.
such a strange comparison...
I see two totally different phones here.
The XDA Flame is large - it makes the TyTN II look small.
The TyTN II has a scroll wheel.
The Flame has a pretty cool looking USB-on-the-go thingie.
Flame has 2mp camera with flash, TyTNII has 3mp autofocus with no flash.
The Flame is UMTS only. Ugh! When I was roaming in India last summer it was painful downloading email and data over UMTS.
The Flame has an FM receiver for music (which it needs because its network connection speed is too slow to stream media).
The Flame has VGA and some advanced graphics chip for which there isn't a lot of custom software yet written. It also has 2G of ROM which is nice.
The TyTN II has GPS, a built-in keyboard (tho you can add to the bulk of the Flame by getting an external one) and neat-o tilt action.
Seems to me you want to compare the XDA Flame to the Toshiba Portégé G900 - they are far more similar in terms of features, and the Toshiba is smaller, has HSDPA and a built-in keyboard, and sports higher resolution than the Flame.
I bought the Kaiser / TyTN II because it has everything in one package.
XDA Flame _ review
I own a XDA flame with wm5. I liked this device, but it has somany bugs. Wireless doesnt work. Contacted O2 and they asked me to do a hard reset but still same problem (Wifi Never worked !!!!).
I think Wifi issue is a common one, i heared same thing from my frnds as well.
Another thing is Operating system get stuck often.
You cant send sms while you are connected with gprs or computer which sucks big time.
But everything else is kindaa cool, its like you are travelling with a pocket media house. Especially USB host facility is really cool
Hopefully they gonna fix it with wm6 upgrade, which they supposed to release couple of months back. I got official reply from o2 that they are still sorting out bugs with wm6. So i dont expect that from next 2 months.
I would advice any one planning to buy Flame to wait till they release wm6.

FM Radio

Hi All,
I saw a post some time ago that seemed to indicate that hardware was actually in the TyTN II for the FM Radio and they were going to look into how to make this available.
Has there been an update I have missed? Is this possible?
Any pointers would be great, it's the one bit of functionality I wish they had included to make it the perfect device for me
Paul
I'd be very interested in this too ...
Here in the UK o2 are advertising the Tytn II rebadged to the o2 stellar with an FM radio so the hardware must be in there. i'd be very interested as well
Me aswell.
Would it be a case of running the FM app from the O2 phone, if anyone can send it I will try it
Paul
From Softpedia:
"The 3-megapixel camera is pretty impressive and its capture quality is better than in many other smartphones, which scores another advantage for O2's device. The phone brings entertainment through an MP3 player and FM radio, making it a handset capable of providing both fun and business solutions. Still, this is a new feature for the device, hopefully not another mistype from O2, as they have done a rather sloppy job with this announcement."
The link: http://news.softpedia.com/news/HTC-Kaiser-Coming-at-O2-as-Xda-Stellar-71434.shtml
So... what is the truth?!?!?
Sorry to point this out, but usually it is hardware!
and if you look at the ad from O2 it doesn't say "FM radio". it only says MP3 player and radio.
there are already radio streaming apps out there, like resco radio
I think it was msmobile blog making the error...
This happens with every new WM device...
A lot of websites and even the Network marketing people dont know what they are talking about. Imagine being the product manager and not making sure that the copywriters don't just create imaginary stuff for your devices...
Then again the O2 Marketing Manager allowed ads to go out calling it Stella for about a month...
It's obviously a hardware feature as the OP says, it's just a question of whether the hardware might already be in there, to be enabled at some future point (perhaps by the O2 firmware). There are precedents for this, such as the GPS that exists (but is not supported) in the S730.
I'd be surprised if the hardware in the Kaiser was significantly different to that in the virtually identical-specced Touch Cruise, which is essentially just a Kaiser without the keyboard - except of course the Cruise has FM radio...
It could well be it's more expensive to leave out than it is to put in, but for marketing reasons it's only enabled in selected models (based on the same platform). This is all conjecture though...
if i remember correctly, the post ended because they discovered that the GPS radio worked and broadcasted differently than the FM radio so that it was not possible.
Edit: Here's the exact post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338238
The hardware most certainly is NOT in the Kaiser or TytnII. But if you're interested in true broadcast television or fm radio, you can check this out: http://www.eopstech.com/eops/pro3.jsp

The new O2 Xda Stellar is a touch screen Xda with a slim, stylish design. As well as the on-board GPS, Windows Mobile 6 (supporting Microsoft Direct Push Email) and Wi-Fi, it is Quad Band, 3G and has a 3 mega-pixel camera and MP3 player

samsung i900 omnia official thread

hi Friends,
i´m waiting for the samsung i900 omnia.....wait...wait..the best wm phone ever..see the specs (google it) or :

http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=AGcatrxh2vA
and my question is:
is possible use s2u2 in that phone because the resolution is WQVGA 240x400 pixel.
so software like s2u2, s2p, s2v and other software like tomtom, is compatible or not?
thaks for the great work people in this forum.
NOTE: and is time to increse this forum to other phone thade marks phones (not only htc) more and more.
Remenber , diversity is wallways better for the consumer, for the final user
let`s talk of everything related Samsung Omnia
???
no reply?????
Since its just been released in Singapore you probably wont see too much talk about it here. Try this site www.ppcsg.com for a lot more info.
the new ui looks a bit janky and the screen resolution is weird
thats my objection to it
other than that, lovely
I don't like Samsung too much, but the Omnia looks like a great phone - the new Marvell PXA320 processor running up to 800 MHz (stock speed) will be great choice for performance
Samsung Omnia
why is everyone going for an inferior phone? the Omnia only has QVGA. Why not just buy the HTC Diamond which is VGA?

Basically, the touch diamond has it myriad of problems at the moment, In terms of hardware and form factor, I'd go for the Samsung. Basically, the widescreen 3.2" screen is a main factor, as well as the nice hardware on it. The diamond has a cool UI, and that's all it has. Plus Touchflo still has issues, 3D drivers not working to their full potential...etc...
HTC needs to start making devices and stop writing software, they are a good ODM, plus oh please, stop being another microsoft and give us buggy software with every new phone launch.

Screen resolution alone does not make a good phone, are you implying that phones like the TyTN II, Touch Cruise, Samsung i780 and Nokia N-series are inferior because they dont have VGA screens? How about the fact that the Diamond has no storage card slot, or has a 3.2MP camera does that make it inferior to the Omnia? VGA is desireable but not necessary so just because a phone does not have it does not make it inferior.
Versus
Did everyone see my post on Diamond vs Omnia? Here's a indepth review of both phones head-to-head and with lots of pictures.
I thought I might be leaning towards the Touch Pro (Diamond out of the question) but now, I think I'm contemplating the Omnia. The camera review on the same site is great too (Vs. SE X1, Pro, Diamond).

Well, Asus and LG are using Broadcomm/Widcomm bt stack, wich can do sending absolute all sound to any handsfree device when needed, without holding active the bt, only connect when needed.
Microsoft bt stack is sending only phone calls. If you want to send all sounds, you must to use third party software that let a permanent open channel to your handsfree, bad very bad.
No
i900 is not the best WM Phone.
HTC Touch Pro is the best all-in-1 WM Phone now.
Also, Samsung material quality is very terrible & cheap.

My experience with different accessories

Hy there i would like to start a thread where we could share our experiences with all sorts of accessories for our aces
I have many accessories that i am using with my phone.
Firstly i will start with description of Sony ericsson Liveview, a watch like display that is connected via bluetooth to my phone and can display time and date and all sorts of informations. From incoming short messages, incoming emails, calls, rss feeds, facebook and tweeter feeds all on my wrist
This is my second android phone that i am using it with, and with android 2.3 kpe version seems to work fine. If you didnt know the device had some problems with non Sonyericsson phones, but after several firmware updates it got sorted out for many. For me it still has some rare disconnections but it seamlessly connects back when i want to access it. If you would like to know more you can read about it herehttp://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/liveviewmicrodisplay?cc=gb&lc=en#a
Second device is hart rate monitor POLAR WearLink+ transmitter that i use with endomondo sporting program. I take my phone when i go running, rollerblading, bycicling and this program then monitors my speed, my course, hart rate, elevation etc. which i can use to analyse my progression later on. Endomondo program is avilable for free on android market, there is also a paid app which ads more options. You can order your hart rate belt from here http://store.endomondo.com/eu/polar-wearlinkr-transmitter-with-bluetoothr-193.html
aahh, sony live view seems amazing..
really want to buy one
but £48.00..?
I think I need 4 months to have that amount of money
Hy there, well i bought it last year in december and i paid 63€ around 55£ for it. It was a price premium for an early adoption but i think it was worth it, especialy after several software updates that made it very usefull. There are also several plugins that can further enhance the usability of the device, from calendar plugin, music control plugin, plugin for changing profiles etc..
That's nice..
I should have that this year..
how long the battery last..?
But I believe Ace would died first before Liveview
my only accessories is just $1.5 cheap headset
