I REALLY REALLY REALLY need help! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

I have TMobile MDA. I successfuly flashed it to the latest KJAM rom, but regestry edits werent working, so I flashed a QTEK OS roms on it.. but it encountered an error.. and when my phone reset its now stuck at the splash screen. The USB connection dropped when it reset. Any ideas? Is it a brick?

Got a backup on SD? If not, you may be phucked.
I STRONGLY recommend you have one before you dork around, as you can reload from the SD as long as you can get to the boot loader.
The image file is floating around - you need a tool to write a raw image on an SD card to put it on yours.

I got the backup on my PC and i have an SD reader/writer. So I guess all i need is the bootloader?

OK.. bootloader works fine.. now i just need a util to write my backup on to my SD in raw binary.. any ideas??

UPDATE.. RUU's work on the bootloader.. i did not know this and i feel like a moron. I just RUUd it with the new imate rom. Works great.. thanx for the help!

I have the same problem with the splash
Could you explain how I can do this? I don't have the boot loader or RUU's. Nor do I even know what to do if I did. Could you please explain what I need to do to restore my MDA. I would really appreciate it.
Chris

The way I did it.. is I held the camera button when i turned the phone on.. you should get the red and green bootloader screen. At this point plug in the usb cable. Your computer may not recognize it but the RUU program will. I used the program found on ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/iMate/K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship.zip It is pretty much all automated. It will take awhile to scan for the device.. and it will show nothing. Flash it anyway (what have you got to lose at this point anyways?) After a few minutes you will see your bootloader screen turn to a progress bar. Wait 20 min and go have a beer and calm down.. cus when you come back, you'll have a working imate K-Jam. Everyone seems to be raving about this software. While there have been no lockups, from time to time my backlight wont turn on when I turn on the device. Also.. registry edits still dont work. VoiceCommand is useles (even after reinstalling)... and i still cant manually edit my ringtone folder. -Thats all i wanna edit the registry for!

I flashed it, it works great.
Thanks a lot!

BTW registry edits work fine on the Imate WWE release rom. You just have to reset by holding the power button - it is caching for longer (probably where the performance boost is coming from) so if you hit the soft reset switch too fast it won't have saved the entries you made.
I have made SEVERAL registry edits and they all "took".

WORKED JUST LIKE U SAID! Thanks!

I thought I was *********^&^&^&!!! But now I have an Imate! Before I had an Orange M3000 which I unsuccesfully tried to upgrade to a UK version. Thanks for your help!

upgrade gone wrong - HELP!!!

hi everyone. im new to the site. i'm amazed how much i never knew about my xda2i before i found this site. there are sooo many cool tools and stuff i'd never heard about. indeed, i wish i had found this site before i made a huge mistake!
i found an update for windows mobile 2005 and tried to use it to update my xda2i (which i now know is really called alpine). of course it didnt work out how i hoped. it ran through the whole process correctly. it erased the curent rom and - so it said - it wrote the new rtom to my device.
unfortunately my xda2i no longer works. the screen is blank and nothing seems to help. soft and hard reset dont work. i tried taking out the battery, and putting it in the cradle. the red light on the top right corner flashes when i do this. but still no joy. i tried re-loading the 2003 se rom but active sync wont detect my xda2i!!!
i cant get any other tools to work because they all seem to use active sync...
i was hoping there was a way to manually put my device into bootloader mode but i cant find anything on how to do this. if anyone can help it would be much appreciated!!!!
all sorted
well it looks like i was a bit premature in posting my problem. i've just been told how to manually put my alpine into bootloader mode. it worked a treat and i have no problems anymore. many thanks and once again im grateful to the have such a great resource as this site! i'll definitly donate next time i have some money in my paypal!
for anyone else having similar problems i'll just say how to put your device into bootloader mode as i had the hardest time finding it out. too many people assume this to be common sense and dont explain for all of us newbies! lol
simply hold down the power button, the select button (thats the directional pad pressed down centrally) and the reset button for a couple of seconds. this puts the alpine into bootloader mode.

there is no window2005 rom for 02i at the moment. note that before upgrade ROM you have to find out the suitable rom for you PPC. 02i rom is always Alpile ROM. the newest is 1.11.171 radio is 1.04

thought I wasn't a newb, guess I was wrong.

Alright, so I've been lurking on this forum for quite some time now. I've flashed, reflashed roms. I thought I had a handle on everything but I guess I was wrong. I've been away from a Window's computer for quite some time now. And I recently saw the new 3.3 rom from the gods of xda. Well, I downgraded, to button's 1.01. and then here's where i screwed up. i forgot to go back up to a 2.xx rom. and went straight for the gold and went for the 3.3. yes i know i screwed up. well here's where I'm at now. still stuck with Button's 1.01 ipl/spl but i have the 3.3 OS. And now I'm not getting any active sync connection, my computer isn't recognizing my wizard. also. my 8125 is slow, i mean i tap the screen and i get nothing re-tap nothing eventually nothin happens, and it's stuck on the today screen. I should also mention it's G3, and yes, i unlocked it all the way. so now I'm basically stuck on the today screen with nothing to do. I foolishly finally tried to clear the storage and start from scratch, but now I'm stuck with no extended rom i believe, all the settings are wiped. am i screwed or what? Or does anyone know a way to at least get active sync back up and running, shouldi re-install it? alright so correction, I'm seeing that all the settings from the extended are showing up (i.e. the battery settings on the today screen, the one-touch voicemail/ 411 connect.) so any suggestions.??
edit--
also when booting up, it takes for ever. litteraly 2-4 minutes. And i tried soft rest via stylus, and then it went to button's boot screen shows ipl spl 1.01 and no radio rom but os was 3.3 and then it would reset showing the same damn beer mug, and then it would do it again. then the screen almost faded away and then it showed the same damn screen again. finally it will go to the crossbow splash screen. and no the battery meter at the bottom is showin -1%
you wizard is not dead yet
I did this...hurry...hurry, hurry but there's somethin' that you can do. Try flashing again button's rom by entering your ppc into bootloader, and then attach it to the pc. It will be recognized, and then you can start flashing.
Good luck. And from mistakes we all learn
hmmm
Well I took your advice, put the 8125 into bootloader. And then connected to the laptop. Still no active sync connection, however the 8125 does recognize it I suppose, when I plug into the laptop the USB appears at the bottom left of my 8125's screen.
also
sorry... i hit the edit button in place of quote.

bootloader mode?
i haven't messed up any of my roms personally yet...but i've read in the past that there is a bootloader mode that you can try to enter and reflash your rom from there. maybe it'll work to try and reflash back to the 1.01 rom you started with?
gotta do a search on here to find it...i think it had something to do with holding the comm manager button and the voice dial button and hitting the small button on the right side of the phone between the voice dial and camera button...
waaait
It is how it's supposed to act. It shouldn't charge...it's in bootloader. Just after you hear the "device connected" sound start the button's rom upgrade. that's it. easy as pie
Or you can start with any 2.xx rom. i think it's going to work with that too.
Ok man, I'm such a spaz, alrigh, there's no active sync, but I am running the no id update utility. And it's running on the ppc, so hopefully, I'm making progress.
Exactly what I said

Also, it's not showing that the 8125 is charging either. On usb, or regular wall outlet. What have I gotten myself into?simply put the device in booloader mode and flash the latest aku2 rom from your provider...this will bring it to live again. due to an hardware flaw wizards cannot be charged with out a proper working OS ....if your battery has drained you need to find an alternative way of charging it and then only you can flash the rom.
ps
activesync is not needed once in bootloader ....
with pleasure
As i said...some mistakes come in handy
@ Faria ... man, I think that if you don't have active sync installed, it won't work... It installs some drivers, the first time it goes into bootloader(for an upgrade 4 example), but it's true that you don't need "active sync" ....course, it's verry possible that I'm wrong...but I had a motorola Mpx200 and it wouldn't recognize it for flash until I've installed active sync

new radio?

there's a radio v2.61.21 for prophet, is there any 1 for wizard?
i am always ready to test a new radio for the wizard(as long as it doesnt screw anything up ofcourse)
i installed the prophet rom and i think my mda is done
Done as in working
or done as in "My, what a nice shinny brick you have there"

I would guess the "nice shiny brick" part, but maybe we'll get lucky...not a big fan of my 2.47 radio ROM...

Just go to ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Prophet/Prophet-roms/Radio_ROMs
What I don't understand is why always people come up to this forum claiming the "bricked" their device. I don't know how many times I flashed mine, it's still working.
Also I must say my Wizard is the best, because no matter how hard I try it never acts in the way people write here sometimes, why's that....
WM6 installed with 47.11
* no switching of and/or on
* MMS works
* Camera Works
* No battery drain, it's even better now.
* Wifi works
* No carshes in the last weeks....
* GPRS working
* Phone's not constantly "searching"
* etc.
I'm going to look for a uncontrolled and/or beta release AKU 3.8 and a half HTC Blue angel ROM to flash on my Wizard, maybe that will do the trick.
"edit" there's is one thing though: No matter how often I flash my Wizard, I still have the Molski splash, how to remove this ?
anybody ?

Kiddin, thanks Vippie, I know I could have looked for it, but while writing the post I came up with one thing which was bothering me.
It worked, it's gone...
Just flashed this on a CID unlocked G4 wizard with Orwell's Crossbow on. So far so good, full signal strength where I normally get it. Bundled utility works fine with the upgrade. About to test the power up thing by disabling batterystatus.

You have to commit to the flash! If you start it, let it finish or don't start at all!
Take out your battery, put back in your battery, turn on your device, connect to your pc and reflash the SAME radio rom!!
This will atleast get you out of the bootloader cycle.

I think he was just joking...
installed the radio. works but no battery indicator anymore. battery status won't overclock either.
The strange thing that i encounter with this rom is also no battery indicator and no battery status, but most important, when i call to a voiceresponse system and i have to make a choice in a menu, let's say the voice says choose 1 to bla bla bla, then i press one but nothing happens. So i went back to radio 2.47.11 but the problem remains. How could this be? Could this have something to to with sending dtmf signals? Anyone knows how to make this work again?
Also with that new radio the battery isn't charged anymore.....
Downgrade to radio 2.19
the reason i thought my device was done because I was unable to charge the phone, I was unable to communicate the phone to active sync. But anyway worked things through and out and went back to 2.47. At least i took the plunge and installed it.
Anyone got from MyQtek new 2.61 radio ?
do the prophet radio roms work on the wizard?

Total noob needs help - bricked my Tilt

Hello all! First of all, I am a total noob to ROM flashing and the like, so please be nice and bear with me. I am pretty sure I bricked my phone and I am sure hoping you guys can guide me out of this mess.
I have a Tilt and wanted to sim/CID unlock it and flash a cooked rom (had my eye on Dutty's latest Diamond). I spent some time reading up in the wikis, etc. and decided to give it a try. I was using Olipro's Kaiser SIM/CID Unlocker & Changer to start. I flased the SPL successfully and was in the process of patching the radio (Step 2) when - wouldn't you know it - I bumped the USB cord and knocked it loose from the PC. Uh oh. I tried to recover but it apparently did not work.
Now, the tilt will not turn on at all unless connected to the PC via USB. Once I connect the USB cord, the device just goes through a continuous loop of the splash screen, constantly trying to reset, but never getting past that point. Now, I CAN get to the bootloader screen by simply holding the camera button while the device is going through one of its resets. Once I get here, it just sits there at the bootloader until I unplug the USB, which powers off the device. On the bootloader screen, it shows the following:
Security Unlocked (at the top)
KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8
Now, since I could get to bootloader, I decided to try and reflash a ROM. I tried AT&T's original rom and Dutty's ROM. Both seemed to flash OK, but once complete I was still stuck with the same problem. HELP! Where do I go from here? I saw the instructions for frankenkaiser. Would that help? I did not want to attempt it without seeking guidance first. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks Captain Productive.
To the Original Poster: You may still be able to save your Tilt. You will need mtty and a smart friend. Maybe if you look around you can find one. But, I recommend you compensate him for his time. If he is successful he saved you a $500 paperweight.

Hmmm Probably Not.
If I have this understood correct When you reset your phone it goes directly into Bootloader? You can flash 100% a ROM but it still goes into bootloader?
Usually this happens because the bootloader thinks its still in flash mode. You have to use mtty to Clear that flag and boot it and All should be happy.

Well, not quite. First of all, when the phone is not connected to the PC, I can't get it to power on at all using any method. Once I connect to the PC, it acts like it is attempting to boot and goes to the AT&T splash screen. However, after staying on the AT&T splash screen for a few seconds, it simply resets itself and tries to boot again. It will continue in this loop unless I either hold down the camera button (which sends it into bootloader) or unplug the USB cord (which simply powers it off).
It should be noted that when I see the AT&T splash screen, I can not see the rom/radio version, etc.

Serial Screen on Start up

hello all, was just wondering if anyone could help me here, iv turned on my phone this morning to find it comes to a serial screen, and im not even able to put any serial in? iv not flashed it with a new rom or anything like that, never even touched the software side, no modifications have been made, so i honestly have no idea how this happened?
i was thinking maybe i should download the original rom for the phone and just re-install that? but im with orange and have been unable to find the original rom, so any help would be much appreciated,
many thanks
Dan
Have you downloaded ANYTHING to the pda at all? Sim/cid unlocker? Files from PC perhaps? If you havent I would try Hard Reset first.
nope nothing at all =/ iv tried a hard reset bu it wont leave the serial sceen =/ it some times flashes "no image file" aswell if thats any help?
Dan
What procedure are you going through for hard reset?
i was using the - hold down the two soft keys and then use the styles to press the reset buttom, remove the stylus, keepin the keys depressed and waitin 4 instructions.
iv just turned the phone on now after it bein off for an hour, and it works again? =S
Great news. I was going to suggest you remove the battery, then do hard reset but there ya go!
ah, that could have been wot fixed it then, because i left the battery removed =) anyway, many thanks mate =)
