I've updated my T-Mobile US MDA to the shipping k-jam ROM and it seems to work fine, though I can no longer connect it to ActiveSync. When I connect the device, Windows detects it as a "Windows Mobile-based Device", but says that it cannot find drivers for it, so ActiveSync can't see it.
I've been looking around for a place to download drivers, but haven't found them. The iMate site has a support area, but without an IMEI to an iMate device, I can't get access to it. Do they have the Windows drivers in there?
I have tried reinstalling ActiveSync 4.1 from both MS and from the T-Mo CD, and my firewall is off.

ActiveSync doesn't recognize my device after upgrade to WM5

My SX66 can Sync with my desktop when I was using WM2003. After I upgraded my SX66 to WM5, the ActiveSync 4.1 doesn't recognize my device. I know the device was connected to my desktop, because it showed up message said "windows mobile based device has been installed and ready to use" when I put SX66 to the cradle. Can anyone help?
Go to settings/network connection for your PDA device.
You need to check Internet Protocol (TCPIP) if it is not already.
This solved it for me, but there have also been reports of MS firewall blocking the connection. Ensure it allows ActiveSync through!

ActiveSync and Vista

Hi, can anyone help?
Running Vista from my laptop and want to synch my Vario II with it (currently synched Vario II with XP running desktop). Tried to instal ActiveSync but laptop tells me it's already there but I can't find it in the programmes list and it won't find it on a search.
My laptop does recognise my memory card in the Vario II but won't recognise that it's actually in the Vario II - i'm confused. When I conect the Vario II I'm prompted for a password several times but I can't actually synch.
Vario II is running WM5, have considered WM 6.1 but would I still be able to sync with the XP desk top if I install it.
All a bit confusing and frustrating this, I'm not a techie so basic answers please (if possible!!!)

youll find the activesync for vista its called "Windows Mobile Devie Center."
vista sucks in the sense of all those security related stuffs.. wmd sucks.. big time, dun ever attempt to do reflashing of roms at vista, u may end up a bricked phone

Vista works fine. You can get your phone bricked by not doing it right, it happens in all operating systems.
vista uses wmdc - windows mobile device center & not activesync. so go to the link mentioned on the 2nd post & dload wmdc. should be fine afterwards.
1 thing that bugs me with vista/wmdc is that everytime you sync your device, it changes your device ID to "windowsmobileXX" for my prophet and now to "HTCXX" on my touch pro where XX is a number. So some of my programs that need device ID for registration gets screwed up.
edit: i've never had any luck with flashing on vista for my prophet needed to use vmware running xp. haven't flashed my touch pro yet...

Cant sync WM5 with Windows Mobile Center on Vista

Hello,
Im a new QTEK 9100 user, so Im not a experienced PDA user and I need a little help. I have Windows Vista with Windows Mobile Center, in the other and I have a QTEK 9100 G4 device with WM5 with Active Sync.
If I sync with USB Cable, it finish without errors but taks and calendar arent updated and the Contact Address Book sync but some fields remains blank.....
If I try to sync using Bluetooth....Windows Mobile Center never recognize my device and is configured ok. On QTEK, Active Sync remains in Connecting state all time and never connect to my computer....
I guess the best and simple solution will be:
Downgrade my pc from Vista to XP or upgrade my QTEK 9100 to WM6 and keep Vista on my computer...but...... I will prefer to keep the supported OS version on both...laptop and Phone....
Can somebody help me ?????Please!!!!!!!!!!

Although the new Win Vista has many advanced features and usability,but it still need to mature as regards to all applications and software drivers.it still has quite a number of compatibility issues.therefore,it's always recommended that to use WinXP SP2 for all your PDA devices applications,use Active sync and for upgrade/downgrade your device,
So I'll recommend you to either install winXP SP2 altogether or Keep Win Vista in one partition and WinXP SP2 in another partition for Pda use ,you'll have much less problems with XP.

Cannot ActiveSync using my Kaiser (Solution Found)

Hi, I thought I will give you my experience, my device have been active sync for more than a month, suddenly it refused to sync any more, I've checked every\thing on my notebook, redownloaded the Activesyn, repaired no way, I've just surfed the net and found the cure for that bur I still wonder how did it happen suddenly, most of you knows that there are two ways of sync's either RNDIS Syn Mode or USB Serial Sync Mode, I found this usefull utility by MS to solve this problem just download to your pda, reset your device and open the application and choose USB mode Viola !!!

No matter what I did my TILT would not successfully connect to any of my PC's with ActiveSync. After changing the mode to "USB Serial Sync Mode" everything worked fine.
However ... a friend recently gave me a BlackJackII to play with, and again I could not get the device to connect at all via USB + Activesync. I plugged the phone into his computer and waaa laaa! Activesync worked perfectly.
Not sure why I have so much trouble connecting to devices via RNDIS. I've gone through all the troubleshooting ... firewall, antivirus, blah blah blah...
No luck. Is a cab with similar functionality for WM Standard? or if it just changes something in the Registry ... what is the Key?

Actually this can be used for all WM but you have to use the latest ActiveSyn from MS (V 4.5), this is the utility which can overcome this no need of a cab or so.
Actually all my machines do have ActiveSync 4.5 build 5096,
and of course I tried to install the cab on the BlackJackII before I even posted ... but I get the message
"Installation of ActiveSyncMode.sa.cab was unsuccessfull. The installation file is not intended for this device."

WMDC Error when trying to synchronize T-Mobile MDA Vario III with laptop (Win 7)

Hi,
I have difficulties to synchronize my T-Mobile MDA Vario III with my new laptop with Win 7. I am getting the WMDC Error whenever I attempt to synchronize my mobile phone with my laptop. I guess there is something wrong with either my new laptop or WMDC because I managed to synchronize the same mobile phone with my old laptop (Win XP) which runs the old 'good' activesync.
The relevant specs of the involved device, software and systems including the summary of the synchronization issue follows:
My mobile phone:
T-Mobile MDA Vario III aka HTC TyTN 2 aka Kaiser aka Tilt
ROM version: 3.31.110.3 WWE
ROM date: 09/01/08
Radio version: 1.70.18.02
Protocol version: 25.83.40.02H
System: Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
CE OS 5.2.19212 (Build 19212.1.0.3)
My laptop:
Acer Aspire 5536
System: Windows 7
Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1.6965
What I have tried so far:
Reinstalled WMDC and rebooted my laptop (several times)
Reset my mobile phone each time before attempting the synchronization
Turned off firewall & antivirus on both laptop and mobile phone while synchronizing
Upgraded my mobile to the latest ROM (from 1.5 to 3.3)
Ran Windows updates including all optional ones I could think of that could help
Unchecked the 'Enable advanced network functionality' option in Settings/Connections/USB to PC on my Vario
Played with different settings on WMDC
What I know that works:
ActiveSync on my old Toshiba laptop (Win XP) where I can transfer files between my Vario phone and Toshiba laptop.
Bluetooth works between my Vario mobile and Acer laptop as well as Toshiba laptop, which enables me to transfer files but not synchronize contacts & emails with Outlook on Acer.
Is there anything out there that I can still try? Does anyone have any advice for me? I would really like this to make work as I do not want to revert back to my old laptop and XP because of this silly sync issue...
I would be extremely grateful for any useful tips...

Anyone with the working WMDC synchronization?
All,
I wonder if there is anyone with the same phone (T-Mobile MDA Vario III aka HTC TyTN 2 aka Tilt) who has managed to make it synchronize with your PC using WMDC (Win 7)?
If yes, was it straightforward or did you have to use any workaround or tweak your device or PC?
I would like to get to the bottom of this issue. There must be a solution out there!

What error do you get?
Have you try another usb cable?.
I get a generic (non-specific) WMDC Error - see the Attachment.
As for the USB cable, I do not think there is anything wrong with it as it works fine with my other laptop (Win XP) where I can synchronize successfully using ActiveSync.
I wonder what else I can try?

Ohh boy, It's the first time I see this dude. Does clicking on the help gives you any description of the error?
Try another cable just in case, have U click activesync from your phone and see if something happens?
Check on your PC Hardware also and see if you have an issue with your usb ports.

As for the generic WMDC Error, the Windows Mobile Device Center does not give any information about the Error (nothing about the Error in the help either).
However, I have checked the Microsoft Event Viewer and I found the following Error message there: "the Windows Mobile-based device failed to connect due to communication (0x80072745) failure (see data for failure code)." - see the Event Properties and Event Details attachments for more information. Any idea what this error means and more importantly how it can be fixed?

The ActiveSync on my phone seems to work fine. It says: "connected" whenever I plug the USB cable into my laptop. What is more, I was able to synchronize my Vario phone with my older XP laptop without any difficulties.

I'm running Windows 7 ultimate and WMDC works like charmed. Just curious, are you running as administrator right?
Yes, I login as administrator.
I have found more information about which services need to be running and set as automatic when running WMDC - see the link below.

Anyway, I am running all of them but there is no difference - still getting the WMDC Error... :-(

After having spent the whole weekend on troubleshooting the sync issue, I am slowly running out of new ideas...
There are so many posts on internet regarding this issue but it appears to me that there is no silver bullet to resolve it.
In my humble view, I believe that what could fix the sync issue is to find the root cause of the following error that I get whenever I try to sync:
Copied from the Event Viewer: "the Windows Mobile-based device failed to connect due to communication (0x80072745) failure (see data for failure code)."
Any suggestions how to tackle this communication error?

P.S. Does anybody know when the next upgrade of WMDC is scheduled to be released by Microsoft? I wonder if there is any other software out there that can do what WMDC does so as I do not have to use WMDC to sync?
