Recently and unexpected i taught my TMobile MDA III to swim down the pan. After a few weeks of drying out i have coaxed some life back into it, however I have no sound when in general usage, either through the main speaker or headphones.
The problem is after a hard reset there is sound when calibrating the screen right up until the point where the extended ROM is loaded it then goes mute.
However when I either let the battery die to zero by sliding the volume control it beeps and also when I put it in the cradle it produces sound from the volume control and also thru the earpiece.
I had already loaded the latest and last Tmobile ROM upgrade prior to swimming lesson
Any ideas anyone

Have you tried re-flashing the T-Mobile Rom, etc again..?
I wonder if that would make a difference.. What have you got to lose..?
Let me know how it goes..?
Cheers!
yes ... Ill think you must reFLASH your BA ...
i managed to find an old version of the ROM on this forrum and flashed it last night and it seems to be working.
this does not explain why it worked for months with the latest upgrade and then failed following the impromptu swimming/diving lesson, i can see how Greg Luganis felt when he banged his head in the olympics, speechless ??

Welp, I have an AT&T Tilt flashed with Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid Cube [Apr 29] with radio 1.64.08.21. I am using the jabra BT620s headset which sound great! (when working) and work great on my wife's blackberry 8300. I've read the wiki and tried KaiserTweak and tried all the bluetooth settings. Still skips after a SR every change. I also tried the .cab found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284974 (the Yikes! thread about A2DP which is what I assume my problem is)
I installed it and it still skips. I also manually went in after searching on here some more and changed the registry settings myself for the bluetooth (although I think thats done with KaiserTweak for me) with the recommended settings and SR and no help.
So, I've done my homework, I've tried many a thing already so no flaming me to RTFM like last time.
Has anyone been able to fix this issue? I'm at a loss and am just about to give my nice headphones to my wife. (I really want to avoid that so I can actually use my phone for MP3s.)
I'm hesitant to change the radio on Dutty's ROM because I'm sure he knows more than I do about what radio I should be using with his ROM. But do you think that would make a difference? Or would that have nothing to do with it?
PS> It was skipping as much with the stock ROM so its not Dutty's ROM. Any other ideas or something I missed with the magical search?
Thanks.
Lightning EDIT: I've also flashed the headset with it's latest firmware.
I had the same problem and finally I disabled the bitpool using KaiserTweaks and the skipping lag stopped.
Oh my goodness. Well, heres what I did and I think its probably what you just said. But after posting my post I went into the reg and just DELETED BitPool and MaxBitPool and SampleRate. IN fact, all I have in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings is UseJointStereo = 1 (Dec).
Working flawlessly. Geebus after all the messing around I've done to get this fixed over the last two days it was simply deleting some registry values. heh
Well, thanks for the input. Hope this thread is easily found in the search now.
EDIT: Not fixed, see below
AAARRRrrrrrgggggh! Well, I thought I had it fixed. Last night I plugged in the phone to my computer's usb port because the battery was red. This was right after I deleted those registry keys and before I tried listening to music. I listened to 4 songs this way perfect. Time for bed. So I unplug the phone to plug into the charger next to my bed. When I unplugged it, instant skippage. it kept skipping all the way to my bed. Nearly woke up my wife and kids cursing. Not sure if it had anything to do with unplugging it but at the moment I felt like stompingon my phone. Good thing reason prevailed. heh
Anyway, I'll test some more tonight. Dont have my phone right now. If anyone else has any ideas, would sure appreciate it.
I had some issues when I first got my S9s but playing with the bitpool thing got mine working, I might get a skip every 30 minutes or so but it isn't frequently. I did also notice that it matters how close the phone is to you. If I put my phone in my jacket breast pocket, no skipping. If it is put in my pocket on my waist i will get the occasionaly skip.
Thanks jallenclark,
I never thought it could be a range issue. I'll do some experimenting tonight with how far away the phone is. Would look sily to have a phone strapped to my shoulder to get my wireless headphones to work, heh. But I will try. Thanks!
Honestly, after Dutty's ROM I think I would really love my phone if this BT headset thing wasn't happening. Well... that and the camera didnt suck so bad.
Edit: I just ordered THIS from Amazon and am giving up on BT headsets. I just happened upon this while looking through other stereo BT headphones on Amazon. Didn't even know it existed. So if you are having these problems, maybe this will work for you.

I have this problem but ONLY after listening to music over a bluetooth headset.
I know this maye sound silly, but when you test your phone to make sure it is going to ring, make sure the volume (buttons of side of the phone) is up full.
A few times I have been in 'normal' made, but the phone only vibrates - this is because I have somehow lowered the volume by pressing the side keys.
May save a a few blushes, you never know!
Help
Please guys, help us solve this problem. I dont know what to do anymore, and it is driving me crazy.
Thanks.
I noticed this behaviour on my Diamond last week. Not sure if it is related but I had similar problems on my old Trinity. When switching between vibrate/silent and normal sound profile Windows would not always register this correctly. Further investigation revealed the the system volume was being updated but the phone/ringer volume stayed at silent. Do you often switch between Silent and Normal?
Never got to the bottom of this on Trinity, although it did improve (happened less often) after I flashed WM6.1 over the original WM5. As there seams to be a silimar issue on Diamond I would guess that its either a WM6.1 problem or something to do with the way that HTC's profile switcher interacts with the OS.
Only thing I can suggest as that next time it happens you check the ringer volume either using the Sounds setting (Settings tab on TouchFlo) if its set to 0% then it may be the same thing.

do you have sound setting on ring THEN vibrate? also to fix your ring lag, try diamond tweak. there is a ring without delay tweak in there.
I have the same problem. I'm on 1.37 ROM - I only noticed it recently. All other sounds play fine, and the speaker volume is correct and it's not on silent or vibrate.
Phone setting is Ring AND vibrate, but trying Ring only doesn't work either.
I'm disappointed with this phone performance though think it's the Touch Flo. I tried a 1.93 but they took out the transitions - no idea if the ring worked then or not - but it was no faster IMO.
For god's sake a phone which never rings is bloody ridiculous!
I wish I kept on the original Orange UK ROM verison....
I like the idea of a hard reset - but have zero confidence it will work. I do know it will take 30 minutes minimum to set up push mail, apps and all the other stuff again.....
I have a similar problem, posted it HERE
Sounds don't work (ring tones and MP3s), I can't hear my dialog partner and they can't hear me. It's very odd. Only switching off the phone helps. I'm very disappointed with the phone's performance.
This issue has been reported before on the Tytn II (running WM6 and WM6.1) so its not a TouchFlo problem - if you search you will see instances of it cropping up all over the place but no 'official' response from anyone or indeed any sure fire fix to stop it happening.
In some instances people are attributing it to using a Bluetooth headset; on others, bluetooth has not been used at all and it has still happened. One of our managers at work had the problem on 3 successive MDA Vario III's (Tytn II) and then has had it again on a Compact IV, all running the stock ROM.
I would suggest it is an issue inherent in Windows Mobile, although it cannot be ruled out that its only in HTC's implementation as I have not heard of it happening on other WM devices. And it is highly intermittant - it would seem that if you have a device susceptible to it, then it will happen no matter what. If you don't, then it probably won't happen ever. So that, in itself, could point to a build/hardware fault affecting certain batches of devices.
I think if you experience this issue AT ALL, then you should return your device under the warranty and demand a replacement, and keep doing so until you get a good one. Until HTC admits there is a problem and does something specifically to resolve it, this is possibly the only option and might actually force them to do something if so many devices are being returned.
By the way, posts suggesting that it might be due to the user having inadvertantly lowered the volume don't help - while peoples input is encouraged, input like that highlights that you have been lucky enough to not suffer the problem. If you had, you would know that it is utterly independent of what the volume level is set to.

Thanks for the advice, but I must go on searching for other solutions; because I bought it in UK and I live in Brazil. That's my problem. It must have other solution.
Nothing to do with the volume

The ring is set Ring AND vibrate. The problem have nothing to do with witch volume the sound is set or the profile. And I rarely set the fone to vibrate only.
oh f**king great! I hadn't realised this was an issue and have not only unlocked my ROM but also flashed to a new ROM from the original!
Does anyone in the UK have an experience of returning a handset on Orange where this happened?
I can't find a UK Orange Diamond ROM anywhere but have flashed the OliNex Radio back to a stock HTC one......
Hi, often i keep headphones in my xperia x1
This way i will hear through the headphones, and talk into the phone as it is in speaker phone mode.
The other day i noticed when i took the headphone out i could no longer use the phone.
I was forced to use headphones plugged in when using the phone.
TODAY, the mic does not seem to work. I can hear people on the line through the headphones, but they cannot hear me.
I reinstalled roms, and hard reset with no solution.
What is going on here? how could litteraly everything have failed on the phone immediatly?
The only time it makes ANY noise, is when the phone finishes starting up after windows loads. with a little (ta da, ta da)
thats it
i cannot make it make any other sound.
also the (speaker phone) option on the phone is now faided out.
and it is not possible to click on it.
The phone (RINGS) if you call it
It makes the noise as the end of the start up.
I cannot get it to make ANY sound myself, It just seems stuck in headphone mode
Take your stylus and wiggle it around in the headphone jack, that can fix it. It's happened to mine a couple times.
Yip, as above. Or continually put in and take out your headphones in a forceful manner - that's how I fix mine when it occasionally happens.
Send it back!! I had this happen, 2 weeks later they sent a new one as it could not be fixed.
Same. take it back
The environment
i had the same problem befor in my x1 and i did do the stylus way and it did worked at the beggining but after awhile the stylus way coulddent help anymore and the phone was no longer working without headset so i toke it to my axiom phone agent and they coulddent fix it so all they did its they change the motherboard of my x1 but after awhile the same problem came back but i try to go after the reson for it to keep happening and i came to know that the main reson for this problem its the wather! changing wather or environment its the reson for it to keep happening for i.g let as say u are in a cold room now and then u had to outside and the wather was hot or humid weather some little water brops will be created inside ur 3.5mm jack because of the humid that will keep the little metal parts attached to each other even if u already remove the headset that will give a sine to your phone that says the headset still inside the phone even if you already remove it,and the only way to fix it try to blow dry air throu your 3.5mm jack and make it dry inside ,but dont keep doing the stylus way because it would damage the jack metal parts and may cause a hardware failer
my advice its try not to keep the phone very cold or in a cold place for a long time and if u ever had to go outside and it was humid weather try not to keep ur phone in your hands first when u are out keep it in your poket for a while let it wram up a little and then use it
Hello great xdadevelopers, first I wanna say I love this site, absolutely, its perfect and helpful and interesting. But thats off topic, so lets start about my problem.
It's about two days ago I got to rooting my G1, downgrading and then installing the rom "[NewMethod][MOD][PATCH]CM5.0.7/8 AnySPL (NoneDanger)" (the one because it was anySPL and that was reasonable for me because I have HardSPL)
Everything is totally smoooooth, really great I love it, its fast, battery is ok and everything works just fine, except the audio. It started the day one after installing the ROM (Yes I did wipe and installed + gapps, etc.) my volume on the speaker was a little bit lower (but the in the software the volume was on max) but I could hear it, so I was hoping for the audio hack because I wanted my great loud g1 speaker back up, so I did the v3r2. Today morning I went to bus and wanted to put my headphones on .. I started the music, and nothing.. I swear nothing.. the phone recognizes the headphones but I can't hear anything! and when I unplugged them I tried to hear it from the speaker.. I really concentrated and I could hear the song but very very low volume, barely hearable. I am really confused and Im requesting and begging someone to help me out with this, I use my phone 50% for music and I need the sound! HELP!
UPDATE: Im still playing with the phone and now i realized... the sound doesnt come from the back speaker but from the front one ! HUH
FINAL UPDATE: Okay, I have just totally wiped the phone (battery, cache, 2nd cache, etc.) and installed the same ROM from scratch + gapps.. booted into phone, everything else fine, just the audio isnt good.. still coming from REAR SPEAKER!!! HELP
Thanks in advance,
xda fan.
all i can suggest is switchin to a different ROM. there r plenty that dont need the DangerSPL.
Fine, I was afraid i bricked my phone after some time, because i was trying everything, but I rerolled back to STOCK.. so now Im without Root and all that stuff, but my speaker works and everything is ok..
Could you list me some ROM's that support HardSPL? Thank you in advance!
I'm really hoping someone can help with this, because it is driving me insane! I will try to keep this as brief as possible, but feel free to hit me with questions.
So 2nd hand Samsung Galaxy S I9000. I have had issues. At first the home button didn't work so I had to get the screen replaced. After this I installed DarkyRom v10.2.2 Extreme Edition TouchWiz4.
After I installed the Rom the sound went (can't remember if it was instantly after the install, it may have been, but I suspect not. It may have been after a day or 2. No longer). The sound worked through the headphone socket, but would not come out of the speakers. I figured that it thought that the headset was plugged in. I installed Cyanogen Mod (as it has the headphone indicator) and lo, there it was. Headset indicator was on, despite not being plugged in. Tried some fixes (compressed air into the headset socket, plugging in and removing headphones). No dice.
Took it to a repair centre, and they fixed it. BUT, when it came back, the LEDs lit up whenever the screenlock was engaged. They looked at it again and said that it was a problem with the mainboard and wasn't fixable. Got into quite an argument with them as the LED problem did not exist prior to taking the phone in, so they agreed the headset repair for free. I am not convinced of their honesty nor that they actually replaced anything.
Obviously quite annoyed at this point, as I basically now have a battery drain. Anyhow, decide to reflash it again, see if it fixes it, so I flash DarkRom 10.2 Resurrection Edition. OMG The LED problem is fixed. Sound still works at this stage.
I then flash DarkyRom v10.2.2 Extreme Edition TouchWiz4 again. Boots up. THE DAMN SOUND HAS STOPPED WORKING AGAIN! I have not plugged headphones into it, so it cannot be the jack socket. I have only just brought the phone home again.
I have reflashed back to DarkRom 10.2 Resurrection Edition and I still have no sound. I am now thinking this may be a problem with the TouchWiz4 Rom, as I am at a complete loss why the sound would have gone between the Resurrection to the Extreme edition. I haven't put Cyanogen back on, but I am pretty certain that it will tell me that the headset is plugged in.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get sound back on my phone, because I am basically back to having a useless brick? I have tried searching but cannot find anyone asking a similar question.
Many thanks, and apologies in advance if I have broken any n00b rules! If any further information is required, fire away.
Cheers
torz77
Ok. I have done nothing since posting this message and now the sound just works again. I'm not going to risk reflashing again, but if anyone has any ideas why I am having this issue then I would like to hear it, because I am not convinced that the problem is going to go away for good!
Hello again!
As I suspected, this problem has not gone away.
I still have not plugged anything into the headphone socket, so I think that can be ruled out as an issue.
The sound has gone on it twice now, since my post. The first time I took it out of vibrate mode and enabled sound. I noticed that the keypad wasn't clicking. Tested it, yep. Stuck in headset mode again.
I went to power down the phone, and noticed that when I hit reboot the keyboard click had returned. When it rebooted sound was back on.
The second time, I was playing the ultra-lame App ARShooter. Sound went off midway through playing it. Again, I heard the keyboard click comeback when I hit the reboot option when powering down.
Sound came back again.
There is clearly something wrong with this phone, and I would love to know how to fix it, or if it's even possible, or where I should even start looking. If anyone has any ideas of what is causing this problem, then please let me know.
Thanks again!
Flashing back to stock?
Hi there. After one and a half month i noticed that the one speaker of the headphone provided inside the i9000 package was not working. Also the i could barely hear what was the other person was saying.I tried a normal headphone with the simple 3.5 audio jack(no mic) and it worked fine. Also i used it in the car and stereo works fine, but if i put a 3way 3.5jack then it doesnt really worked.I flashed a 2.3.4 simple honey rom but it didnt work .I tried to go to the secret codes menu using *#*#197328640#*#* but the AUDIO directory is not opening!I tried pressing on it and typing {5} (it the number of the directory) but it doesnt open whatever i do.I tried voodoo and although it works wonderfull at playing music i still cant use the mic+headphones that came with samsung or another one i bought to check if the first is faulty. Now i want to revert back to stock so i can take it to the samsung shop for repair; What drivers do i need and what do i do to take it bac kto stock? stock rom that came with my phone was xwjvi 2.3.3
Thank you!
