Well my ISP is claiming that they will not support DirectPush even though they have SP2 installed. They claim that since Cingular or any US provider has not rolled out MSFP they do not have to support it.
Because I am having the problem in that I cannot set my email for DirectPush its keeps defaulting to SMS...
I upgraded my 8125 to the new Qtek ROM and am using direct push on Cingular. It won't work with an AT&T wireless "blue" SIM because the public IP address changes often tho....
sleuth is the direct push "waking" device to tell you you have an email. If you get an email whil it is on standby I mean. also what device do u have?
LAter; Lew
nope I can live with it though since I don't normally have email set to alarm. Is yours an 8125? Maybe this is hardware specific.
damn.... I may have to take that back. My 8125 just buzzed me as I was typing that last post!!! Perhaps it wasn't in standby yet though (I have a 3 minute delay) I'm going in for more research on this now.
edit: Research complete. The bug is there. Must've not been in standby mode when the above message came in.
Well I confirmed it, my ISP is full of ****. I signed up for a 4smartphone account and guess what, DirectPush works just fine (on Cingular) ... no SMS just the way its supposed to. They must have something wrong on their end
We are using Cingular in the US and have direct push working. The push technology works over HTTP/HTTPS if they don't support that technology then no one would ever be able to surf the internet.
I am on ATT BLue and it works with no issues getting msgs that is via push.
i'm on cingular and push e-mail works, but 4smartphone has been quite slow recently
Thanks everyone... actually I just found out that Sprint released a ROM update that includes PUSH email... so hopefully my ISP will fix their problem

I bought the T-Mobile Wing as an upgrade from my MDA last week. I have my small issues with it but I'll save that for another post. What I'm inquiring about right now is about how my phone, and my wife's Dash are having problems sending/receiving emails from our home accounts via our Cox.net accounts. We didn't encounter this problem with me on my MDA running WM5 or prior to her upgrade to WM6. Of course I called T-Mobile and asked them about it. It was as confusing to them as it was to me. Sending/receiving email via Yahoo works flawlessly. Am I the only one having this problem?
This is a bone-stock T-Mobile Wing........for now
Something about communicating via COX just doesnt sit well with me ..
I know I know. I left the door wide open. I'm in the Navy, I know how it works.

Hi Pickpocket
I am not sure this will help you or not .....but after struggling for weeks finally I got it working for send/receive using this trick.....
1) Sign up for myemail on t-mobile.com
2) then use your cox.net incoming server settings for incoming server.
3) finally for outgoing server settings use "myemail.t-mobile.com"(no quotes)
username for outgoing server:yourmobilenumber:1
password for outgoing server:same as cox.net email account.
My good advice: Try to avoid "mymail.t-mobile.com" for incoming.
Good Luck !!!!!!!!
Now that contradicts what a few different T-Mobile reps told me on the phone. They told me that with WM6, I didn't have to go through the whole process of setting up my email on the T-Mobile website. And you're also suggesting that I use Cox's server settings for my incoming mail, and T-Mobile's settings for my outgoing? Sounds jacked up but I'll give it a shot in a couple of days when my ship pulls back in to port.

Yes the settings t-mobile reps are talking about are the default settings loaded in device. Try to add all the settings manually.
Good luck!!!
With the MDA you could automatically setup your mytmobile email between tmo and the MDA. I don't think by default they have that option on the Wing, at least I haven't seen it. You could probably add the cab for it and maybe get it, but otherwise you'll have to set it up manually as stated earlier.

I have Cox Email also...I can receive my emails, but i am not able to send emails from my Wing. Never could on my MDA or my Dash. I'm guessing Cox doesn't allow people to send emails through their accounts unless they are actually on the Cox servers.

Its true that you have to actually be connected to the Cox network in order to send via their smtp server. But you should be able to send email using Villaboy25's instructions.
And pickpocket, you may be in the navy...but dont feel bad...after all I "work" for "Cox".....

I could send and receive emails all day with my MDA using WM5. It wasn't until I got WM6 on my wife's Dash that I noticed this problem. I thought maybe it was a Dash issue until I bought my Wing with WM6 loaded by T-Mobile. Yahoo works, so I have to assume its a Cox thing for now.

Guys I'm telling you...it works! Use villaboys instructions. I am able to send from my Cox.net account just fine using this method.
Is anyone having connection problems with IMAP on 6.1.I can downlaod fine but it will not send. the only way that I can get this to work is if I delete the settings and then set up the email again. im using the correct setting found on here it will work for a few weeks but then all of a sudden it will stop sending oit the messages. They just store in my outbox when i click send and receive I get a connection error which i already know works fine.
It just stops sending all of a sudden for no reason. maybe its a Gmail prob I think. Any one have this happening as well?
I use Tmobile USA internet plan. the POP3 works fine but I prefer the IMAP for better sync options with my folders.
thanks
jto
Gmail problem unfortunately, also happens on my computer once in a while.
Same exact problem over here. I'm gonna call T-mobile this week.
It's happening all the time. I guess it could be that smtp.gmail.com uses a different trusted CA and that this CA isn't trusted on the WM 6.1 ROM? Alcaline, any ideas? (highly unlikely)
I didn't notice until Friday, and I had been sending email as usual for over a month and it was all sitting in my outbox.

Hi,
Shure it could be that a certificate is needed.. But if it works sometimes?

It works no times.
I can only imagine it never worked, although I didn't notice. I mean, it must be a different cert; but for them to use a CA that isn't trusted by Windows Mobile seems pretty silly. Let me know if you need recon.
[UPDATE]
Alright. Looks like several ports are widely reported as blocked when using certain plans. I assume the plan I have is one of these plans. Others claim that "routing" your email through t-mobiles smtp server works. Although, with my plan, I do not have any email addresses attached to my account.
Reportedly smtp.gmail.com uses three ports to route to their smtp server(s): 25, 465 and 587. Tested telnet connections to smtp.gmail.com:25 and smtp.gmail.com:587 worked, smtp.gmail.com:465 failed.
Regardless of my findings, both working ports don't work from my phone; so I attribute this to t-mobile. I'll call them, but expect their answer will be something to the effect of "we block communication over those ports for people without the $15 data plan."
FYI: My service is from work... I swapped my SIM into my S730 from a blackberry. The account has the BES/BIS feature, but no true data plan.
Use m.gmail.com via a web browser to compose emails.
I've played with the port setting and still nothing I just deleted my account on my phone and wet it up again it will work for about 1 week then it just stops again. i do have the $20 data plan. I switched back to the damn POP3 for right now. IMAP works great for my desktop.
hopefully the support will be available soon or someone comes up with something.
Thanks,
Hi all,
Anyone else experiencing problems sending mail?
Incoming works fine (I have my own settings in there - POP3 etc) but sending has recently stopped.
I use smtp.t-email.co.uk (no authentication) and it has been working fine. Doesn't matter what network connection I use.
Error: "The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again."
Any ideas guys?
Ratzz
Yeah, im getting it too.
Same - I suspect that tmobile changed something in its settings or perhaps the ISP we all use stopped accepting smtp traffic from tmobile.
There was some talk a while ago about TM UK barring smtp through smtp.t-email.co.uk if they thought you were spamming but I think they were supposed to send you a message/letter to tell you they were stopping it. Might be worth a call to customer services?
Nah i wouldnt worry too much, it happens with T-Mobile every now and then, last time it happend to me was about 2 months ago, for about 1 and a 1/2 days

Still happening --- maybe about 4 or 5 days now.
Thought it might just be me ... very surprised at the response.
I'll dig around a bit more and call T-Mobile tomorrow.
Maybe worth having a look at this on the T-Mobile site: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/phone-support/
I think you can set-up email from there.

Well that didn't work!
I have just started getting this problem too. I use tmobile uk and can receive ok and I am with plusnet but am sending via tmomile. It was working fine - please help.
Im afraid to say that ive had this problem for over a month now... i havent had the time to really go into things & find out the problem, so i've just been going to my gmail account thru PIE and replying to emails that way...
it would be nice if t-mob could actually not screw things up... i tried that t-mob help link... didnt work either
Same here, has been like this for 4 or 5 days now.
I deleted my POP account and set it up again, still the same problem.
This has happened to me in the past, normally resolved itself in a day or so.
Back Online.
Just to let you know it must be back online as ive been sending and receiving messages all day.
Yep, mine too - must have been down fo about a week...
What are they playing at?
Well, that didn't last long. Back to probldems...
Called T-Mobile today as problem re-appeared pretty quickly.
I was advised by technical support that I should be using smtp.t-email.co.uk (no authentication) but I have been using this anyway.
He said that there has been issues with the smtp server that they were informed were fixed today. He repeated this a couple of times.
He said to give it another 24 hours to see if things resolve.
HTH
I called T-mobile yesterday about this.
they have brought the server down as the was too much spamming going on. I explained to the support manager that this is not a good thing! I explained I had been using it for 4 years and it is splattered all over their documentation to use it and if they are now suddenly removing it, then as far as I was concerned I could terminate all 3 phones we have on the account as they are all advertised as having "Windows email" facilities. She did tell me that their department had been inundated with calls regarding this.
To cut a long stroy short she agreed to give me £5 off my Web 'n' Wlak package for 3 months, as Germany have told them it maybe down for 3 months while they reseasrch alternative solutions. She couldnt give me money off because of this exact issue as its a free service, and so she could authorise the £5 a month off it was because I couldnt utilise my Web 'n' Walk package fully.
So...call them up and say youre not happy. Explain that you cannot do something which is advertised on their website and youll get "compensation"

Hmm ... thats interesting, and also a pain in the arse.
I don't see how they are receiving more spam than any other smtp server out there. Thing is, if I could use my usual smtp server that I use for work, I wouldn't mind, but this also does not work. I use the same settings as on my desktop PC and get the same error message.
It's so frustrating -- especially as this is a key feature of the PDA ... not being able to use email is worse for me than not being able to text (which was also knackered today, now resolved).
I will call back tomorrow and discuss this with them...
Thanks for the update.
Right then, its just stopped working for me again... until I put the proxy server IP address back in, then it started working again.
Can someone else try this so we rule out this being a "one off".
The address is 149.254.201.132 and http port 8080

I had the same problem with Telia here in Denmark, except that sending e-mails didn't work from day 1 with the TYTN II. So I didn't really know what was the problem - the TYTN II or the smtp server (which btw worked fine with my Treo 650). But all of a sudden, smtp started working without me changing a bit on the TYTN II. So I figured it must have been something wrong with the smtp server. Funny thing is though, while searching for the error, I downloaded a third party e-mail application (can't remember the name), and that sent e-mails through the smtp server just fine, while pocket outlook did not. Go figure!
For the first week I have owned the Tilt, Xpress mail seemed to work fine. It would push every bit of mail through. I had it set up for both Yahoo and Gmail. Over the course of the following week (up to date) I have made some minor modifications to the phone, and am not sure if they're responsible for the demise of my Xpress Mail service.
What I've done so far is to install Kaiser Tweak and am using almost every advised feature (Hiding SIM contacts never sticks though. after a reset it always goes back to default). I have also downloaded Comm Manager from here, because I was having bad 3G dropouts so this comes in very handy. Outside of those things, that's about it.
But for some reason, my Tilt has been displaying some very sketchy behavior, but the worst offender at the moment is the push mail not working. Even stranger though, is that when I sent myself an email from my Gmail account to test it, rather than the mail going into the yahoo folder, it went into the Gmail folder ?
At one point last night (it's vague, I was very tired) I had to reset the Yahoo password upon request of the program because it said that it needed to be updated. So I did that, and afterward, it seemed to work again. But now, as I'm testing by sending mail to myself, nothing is happening. Well, almost nothing.. .Something peculiar happens. When I send the mail off, I notice that the Tilt's screen gets brighter, as if an event is happening. This happens about 15-20 seconds after sending an email to the Yahoo account, and happens every time, so it's not a coincidence.
I'm still within my 30 day trial for the Tilt, and I'm getting frustrated with it, thinking about getting a (gasp) iPhone or perhaps a Treo 750 if it functions any better. I really want to like the Tilt but for one thing, I am not getting any HSPA service here in NYC (where I thought I would) and 3G is piss poor where it counts, so isn't even worth it. It's why I got an unlimited data plan, but now I'm thinking about canceling it.
I got the phone on the 8th and would like to sort this out before the 30 days is up. Can anyone please assist me with this ?
Thanks,
doug
By the way, I'm running Win Mob 6.0 and the original ATT ROM that came with it last week.
CE 5.2.1622 (build 18128.0.4.4)
And, I'm not sure that this has anything to do with it but (or is useful info) when I open the Comm Manager, the Microsoft direct push button is greyed out and is not able to be toggled. I also have 3G set to off when I'm in my house. I've tried a soft boot, but that didn't do anything. I'm about to do a hard boot now.
doug
Now the client is really bugging out. When I go to menu > tools> new account, all it does is go to the Yahoo Inbox (which is empty always). I can also access this menu through Options, then click on New Account but then nothing happens at all ? I just deleted my Yahoo account to see if I could create a new one from there, but nothing happens.
This is not boding well for the Tilt. I'd really appreciate some help. Things were just fine when I got it the first week. Is there a way to restore the phone to factory defaults and such ?
Doug
Also, when I hit "send/receive" it says error synchronizing very quickly on the bottom. And if I try it again, I get an error message "S7900: Another update operation is currently in progress"
I had the same problem, however so did my wife. We both have Kaisers and were emailing instead of chatting all the time. Our emails sudenly stopped updating automaticaly. Happened on both phones so I called the provider. Turns out there was an update that killed the push function from hotmail, gmail, and a couple others. ATT suggested I download the BB Connect until the error has been corrected. Been about 3 weeks now and no fix made.
Yesterday morning suddenly couldn't send yahoo emails (could still received them). I've never had a problem before.
I reset the email settings and still didn't work just got the error message 'check network coverage etc'
Only wouldn't work on GPRS, fine on wireless so I figured isp wasn't happy with smtp settings. I tried port 465 and 2525 on the original yahoo settings but no luck so looks like Three (3) have blocked access to the yahoo smtp server - thanks Three! :<
Have now changed to smtp-mbb.three.co.uk and I'm able to send again, might work for you if you come up against the same thing.
The smtp-mbb.three.co.uk server works, but pretty slowly and I've got a nasty feeling I may get charged per mail so I'm keeping a very close eye on my bill.
Anyone else experienced the same thing in the last couple of days or have any other sugggestions?
(I'm on WM 6 not 6.1 so not the secondary server issue btw)
