I currently have a Blue angel running in the UK on a T-Mobile rom, unlocked and actually running on an Orange sim. I would like to update my Rom and believe there is a new version out for T-Mobile. But prior to upgrading my rom I am not fussed which Rom I use. Are there any recommendations on the best base rom out there in the UK?
Is it T-Mobile, Orange, O2 etc. I know they will be much the same but individual providers sometimes provide some extras etc. I believe O2 has the battery status on the home page etc. Can anyone recommend a good flavour of Base ROM???
I believe that the i-mate 1.42 is the best rom for stability, however the latest t-mobile rom is advantageous for those needing Blackberry support. The o2 rom however comes with the o2 active interface, which many people like however it really slow's down your ppc.
I'd advise you go for the i-mate rom. Hope this is of help

I run the UK T-Mobile version 1.42 and it's pretty fast and about as stable as i-mates, imo. I'd say if you're using 1.42 now, you're really not going to do any better, overall, unless you go to WM5. Then, however, you're opening a whole new can of worms as they're all hacks and therefore slow and buggy, comparatively speaking. You can find just about any rom on this site's ftp server, ftp://xda:[email protected]
You may get the T-Mobile Rom here
I advise that you follow the WIKI for installation instructions which may be found here
Enjoy!
Thanks Mark/Splonker my device indicates the rom version 1.06.00 ENG is this the version number I should be looking at??
Also sorry for the addition. Can I just do a full backup of my device contacts etc and when I upgrade restore?? Thanks John.
So .. T-Mobile and I-Mate seem to have a 1.42 base rom out. I can find the Dutch TMO 1.42 one (I have that running now), I can find the UK TMO 1.42 one, but where is the I-Mate 1.42 one? Can't find it at I-Mate and can't find it here at XDA Devs ...
Between these three, which is the best?
xBackup not in T-MOBILE 1.42 Radio DUTCH ROM
Just upgraded to T-MOBILE 1.42 Radio DUTCH ROM got my Wireless problem solved but have another problem NO XBACKUP how can I install it???
still trying to track down the english version of the tmobile latest rom any ideas/links anyone?? Thanks John.
I've found Orange 1.31 ROM/Extended ROM and radio 1.15 the best combination so far. For me, 1.4x ROMs were slower.
My Best Roms
XDA IIs UK from O2
1.Best ROM so far without doubt for me is the BA_TMNL_14200_119_11300_Ship from T-MOBILE
AND its the fastest..
2.Best ROM (slightly slower)
XDA 1.42 115 T-Mobile Firmware
3. I-Mates 1.40 WWE with Radio 1.13
still had an issue with audio dropping from incoming calls
If you've seen any of my previous posts you'll see the hell i've been in trying to get anything to work with these ROMS, now it ALL works. and I dont say that lightly!
i tried the last 2 factory ROMS from O2 UK 140.237 & 140.242 which is there latest and I had WIFI nightmares with both of those..
Hi
I upgraded my TMobile UK Vario using "MrClean Goes to London" AKU rom and was wondering whether I could upgrade to the latest TMobile USA 2.26 ROM. Is it feasible?
As I upgraded from 1.x to 2.21 I unlocked the CID, but does it make it compatible with the TMobile USA 2.26 ROM? Will there be any problem owing to different languages (uk v. usa)?
Has anybody done it as yet?
Thanks.
Hey everyone!
I flashed my MDA compact with Duttys release but was just wondering if I ever wanted to go back to how the phone orignally came with the T-Mobile firmware and all the software how would I go about doing it?
Cheers.
You can get a copy of the T-Mobile 1.37 based ROM that was re-packaged by TheLoanRanger from this thread at Modaco in case you ever need to flash back to the original rom.

Hope this helps.
My phone(MDA Compact IV ),sometime, the bluetooth or wifi can't turn on!why?

in holland there's a 1.93 rom out. dont know if its also available in your country, but you can check the t-mobile site for updates (or just use a custom rom) 1.3 versions are too old now and buggy
I noticed that T-Mobile in the UK have issued an official ROM update for the Vario III (and the Vario IV).
Could this be an imminent sign that they will be releasing the Vario V (aka Touch Pro 2) shortly?
Has anyone tried the ROM update yet? I'm considering it but am put off by the reports of problems with GPS after updating to WM 6.1.
Vario III UK T-mobile ROMs
http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/dm_vario3_sw.html
I'm using the newer MDA Vario III 6.1 ROM
I have updated to the 3.31 ROM and 1.70 Radio available from tmobile UK at the link above. This was a from stock to stock upgrade using tmobile's upgrade utility.
I have NO GPS issues working with TomTom and get fast fixes inside my house. The rest of the ROM seems a lot snappier and very stable compared to the 6.0 ROM. The 6.1 improvements are also quite nice to have as a carrier ROM.
Cheers
