I have a 8125 and dont really understand what vga is all abot. Can someone tell me or lead me to some posts about vga resolution...ie: its benfits, how to get it what its for. Sorry if this sounds stupid but if you want to learn you must ask questions. i in return will happily answer questions on what i know everything about, which is flooring, i know its not any way related but just figured id put it out there... thanks... Shady
as I understand it, some PPCs have a hardware 640x480 (VGA) screen and use pixel doubling to make it act like a 320x240 screen. As I also understand it, there is software available that can turn it into a 640x480 screen by turning off pixel doubling via a new display driver. I think that's what I got out of it. The reason I'm not sure is because I have a Wizard MDA and and Blue Angel and neither has a hardware 640x480 screen. Since yours is a Wizards, yours is also 320x240 hardware. There was a nice utility around that let you set any resolution you wanted up to 1280x1024 but it was for WM2003SE only and hasn't been updated for WM5 and even at 640x480, half of the physical pixels were removed and it was very hard, if not impossible, to read the screen. nyditot.com was where it was located, as I recall. Anyway, that's VGA from my readings on this site. If I'm wrong, someone post a correction, please.

We have a number of Wizards - (t mobile) and apache (verizon) in the office and we have begun to use them for mini documentaries.
The Apache's have a mpeg4 setting for 320x240 (large) while the wizards only support 176x144 (medium). Is there a hack to change the wizard resolution to 320x240?
Are there any other camera software programs or in phone editing programs
thanks

I'm pretty sure if you look around a bit in here you'll find an answer, I'm not sure myself. You could try comparing the registry in both devices I figure \HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\Recparam should be the place you wanna look in. If the MDA is missing any key that the Apache's have try adding that value to the MDA's registry to see if it does the trick. That SHOULD work if the issue is just difference in the registry. Since as far as I know, aside from the different radio technology and casing they are twin devices in every other way. If that doesn't work, do a little searching around as I'm sure you will find an answer in here. Hope that helped some, good luck.
Use CoolCamera v1.08 to record video in ANY resolution. This program works on Prophet too.
You can download this software from official web-site:
www.ateksoft.com.
Thank you
Thanks - i just dl the camera app - lets see if it does the trick
keep us posted regarding the coolcamera app.....im thinking of using it as well, but i need to know if this works properly on the wizard before i install it.....thanks
bump!
wtf is this under 200 resolution BS that my 8125 is equipped with??? i feel like i'm using win95 all over again
is there any software for editing video directly on the MDA, away from a PC.
Is it possible to change the application used for taking pictures (the viewfinder)?
I have a HTC BlueAngel (SPV M2000/XDA IIs) running WM5 and have the camera app with the borders and buttons round the outside. I really want the one which takes up the whole screen which i have seen on other devices.
Is it possible?
CoolCamera isn't compatible with the BA.
Thanks
Yeah, I'd like to see if there's another application for the Cameras on the Blue Angel. I don't really like the current one. If anyones knows of one that takes up the whole screen please post it.
hi!
someone know if htc diamond home plug and album/mediaplayer software are avaible somewhere, please?
thx!
i asked the same thing somebody just told me to buy a diamond
there is an early release of it floating around these forums, it's called Manilla. But don't get to excited, it really doesn't work well, if at all. I saw one person say that it only did like 3 fps so it was so extremely slow that it was useless. Most posts state that it doesn't work at all.
how about the application/programs launcher.. the one that goes a neat vertical list (see attachment)..
i think they replaced the default start>programs launcher with this one.. better, neater (with background) and more fun scrolling than the default M$ one..
You guys should take a look at the reviews more carefully. All the programs that the OP asked for are part of the new TouchFLO 3D. Implementation requires an activated GPU, something that the Kaiser is lacking.
well not all seems to be a part of the GPU heavy TouchFLO 3d.. as usual, some of the UI elements of the new TouchFLO must be some sort of separate programs that is called by the main GUI/launcher.. evidences of those can be seen in some videos wherein shortcut icons (from settings applet and/or programs menu) can summon/launch some TouchFLO UI programs - independent of the main 3d TouchFLO app..
so most likely, we may be able to extract some parts of the UI (the more static ones)..
like the comm manager, settings, volume screen, programs menu (list), and maybe even the youtube applet.. which, all seems to just be a static standard/skinned program (non-3d and more like a point-UI approach), much like the HTC Camera Album (from the first Touch series)..
our main hurdle would be converting these apps from the obviously VGA native resolution to QVGA ones..

isnt it just reducing the images down to 50% ????
i've found some infos here...but i can't make it working on my kaiser...even if i've changed the images file with the qvga version file...
so...someone know something about manila on qvga devices?
THX!
I'm about fed up with TouchFlo 3D, nice but pretty useless and I REALLY miss the Cube from my Touch Dual, much more convenient and doens't waste CPU cycles, so...has anyone installed it on the Diamond ?
Found a few existing CUBE topics, but not sure if there might not be interference and if a VGA skin is needed.

Ok had to hard reset...
Was hopeful after a post by SecureGSM :
"HKLM\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings:
also, there is one that is suppose to enable cube finctionality there:
EnableCube : default value (0) <--change that to (1)"
But not working for me.
Its not so simple as switching cube on. Cube is simply not there in our Diamond. If u try to install this Cube configurator from the Elf thread, u'll see a multitude of errors, missing files, etc. Cube may be functional here, but we'll be needing all those files
Yes, that sucks, the CUBE is x times more useful than TouchFlo 3D IMHO.
There must be a way though because it was added to non touch devices.
i dun think we'll have to descend to the non touch method, they use flash. i'm sure if we can get the Touch Cruise for example, and get their files, and put it in, it should work? i think
Catching up, I also thought this would do it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=348437 but so far no luck either.
bump - hope someone can figure it out ;-)
Another bump, that would be such a useful addition, I'm sure the bright minds around here can figure how to add the Cube back ;-)
have u tried Touch Commander?
Not sure, got a link ? I tried the tools linked in the first message and no go, had to hard reset.
I know a guy who might be very good at this ... Duttie or something like that
Unfortunatly, he is not around (yet)
Sounds good, hope he joins us soon !
Have you considered something like this:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/?en
There are a couple of other similar GUIs out there and the good thing about them that they all VGA optimized.

Thanks, but what I like about the cube is up and down the gesture to bring the contact list and then left to right for the various tools. The Contact list would be enough actually.
bumping it up ;-)

i won't be trying that again in a hurry
this looks good if they can get it to fit our screen

Any news guys ? I was so happy with my Touch Cruise but bought the Diamond for the 640x480 screen and faster video playback.
The TouchFlow 3D looks fine but it's very useless to me, The old TouchFlo Cube from the cruise could be swept away and you had your normal windows todayscreen.
I tried the Cube thing SPD Mobile Shell but the old originall CUBE is way better I think.
Any solutions ?
Bump!!! I Want The Cube!!!!!!
same here, in fact I want it so much I've stuck with the HTC Touch Dual, aka Nike !
Ok so this is actually my first time posting in a long time. i do regularly flash the great roms on this site and use the cabs that are presented here. wonderful work guys.
ok so my question is, is it possible for someone to write some software for some widgets like the ones on the new Samsung I900? I know that it runs off WM 6.1 Pro. But is the today screen widget system a flash program? or built in somehow? it would be so cool to have something like that on the today screen of my 6.0 kaiser. ive seen so many different UIs its hard to name them all. they are all pretty cool in their own ways, but if someone made this as a cab that would be awsome. i know someone will be dumping the I900 rom sometime soon. hopefully!!!!
thanks,
vince
i dont get it, so nobody thinks this is possible? any takers....bueller...bueller...
Two suggestions...
Link to what you're asking about so someone can possibly make comparisons.
Don't be annoying/insulting.

riiight... i wasnt trying to be annoying or insulting. i figured a quick search on youtube wuold have informed anyone about the phone in question. seems simple enough to me.
well. the Omnia I900 is a new phone that is being put out by Samsung. If you watch the video posted above youll see the widgets that i am talking about. they seem to be flash based. sort of like the ones in vista. i wonder about how much memory they take up. the phone has some other cool things as well like the screen rotate transitions. i love the one from this device. hope some programmers here can chime in on this one.

Apart from the dragging and dropping of widget from the sidebar, everything else is able to be reproduced on wm6 using various methods. rlToday and MobileShell are starting points. The i900 is not that great of a phone.
I figured out the Widgets app is called TouchWiz. i was wondering if anyone has been able to make a cab out of this? i would probably use it if it were available. ive tried a lot of shells, launchers, plugins, they are all cool but none seem to be the end all OS-replacement. by that i mean that they cant do everything yet. some will do some things good and others do other things good, but none do everything good! i know its a lot to ask for from just a shell, but if the next iphone (not 3g version) is any good with a 3rd party following thats growing, i might jump on. its gonna take some great plugs and an awsome os update to keep me on the windows mobile wagon.
i really wish they would start to try and move away from teh stylus usage on their future OS versions. like the Omnia. this would make alot of people happier i think.

-Price - Currently over $1,100 in Australia vs. TyTnII free on most caps. Ouch.
- Poor finger menu navigation. Like most WM6 devices, the underlying OS is designed for stylus use, not thumbs. Comes with a stylus but no slot to put it in the phone.
- No physical keyboard, and dodgy software keyboard which cover 3/4 of the screen making it impossible to see what your typing underneath.
- Haptic touch is cool, but the glossy body is really bad (good?) at collecting fingerprint smudges. Carrying a cloth all day is pretty lame too.
- Battery life is ok, except when using GPS or 3G/HSDPA- reports of going from 100% to fully flat in under 40 mins while using satnav & about 3 hrs talk time on 3G. Cant personally verify this because I only played in-store for about half an hour - google around though..
- Can't use it as a bluetooth HSDPA modem for laptop/PC. Even my 5 yr old nokia can do this..
- Annoying automatic screen orientation, way too sensitive when you moving your arm around and the screen starts freaking out and spinning.
- Reports of random shut downs. Cnet reviewer had 2 in 3 days & pressing the Power On button does not help - have to physically remove and re-insert the battery to reset it.
- Useless "widgets" - Stock ROM does not include Calendar, Messaging or mainstream apps. Like the nazi-esque licensing for the iphone app store, you're not allowed to add / develop non-Samsung-approved apps. So for the time being you have a fancy looking but useless desktop. Standard WM6 "today" screen & various plugins is much much more usable.
Bottom line is its fashion over function. Some will love it, but there's too much iPhone mentality going on to even consider it for folks like me (I like to tweak and fiddle with everything to make a system that suits me perfectly - way better phones already out that can do this easier (TyTnII, imho) )
I do like the camera though, and the weird not-quite-VGA 240x400 resolution.
I agree. I am not interested in flashing a new ROM but would rather customize a few features usings cabs and so forth.
There are some widgets that I would like to use myself. This is very similar to the Vista sidebar that I have become familiar with and appreciate now.
Hi,
i found the related widgets, on rapidshare or megauload.it works fine
on a Qvga pda, but on mine (I780) i have resolution problems
Bye
Herc.
yeah i found a thread in the general-hacking and development section where someone has already made a cab for the widgets. after installing you have to reset your device for them to appear in the today plugins selection. the widgets are really cool but not being able to edit the apps they control at the moment kinda sucks. some of them dont do anything because they are supposed to be connected to programs in the Omnia I900
