Hi guys and girls.
I finally plucked up courage to install WM5 and suprisingly, it worked like a charm! not one single problem
There is one cherry on the top that would be very nice if anyone can help.
On the today screen there is a nice little bluetooth icon in the bottom right hand corner; is there any way to get a wifi icon next to it instead if having to go into start > Settings > connections > WLAN to turn it on?
Appreciate any suggestions offered.
Cheers
J
can someone please send me the orginal wirelessmgr.exe file? i tried to load the wirelessmgr.exe from the universal and now i cant turn wireless on or off
Codiac, I have taken a hotkey (camera, I don't use that much anyway, but any key would do) and mapped that to WLAN_MAN. Works very nicely, but I hope there will be a fix for the dissappearing WLAN (and BT, even though that doesn't matter that much to me since I never turn off the unit when I'm using anything BT) in the near future.
I never thought of that works spot on now
Must remember in future to engage brain before fingers :?
Cheers Mastiff

I added the program into O2plus apps tab

Codiac... how did you get the bluetooth icon on the Today screen? I just upgraded to Mamaich's Patch 5 but I don't have a bluetooth icon
me too..i can't see the bt icon and sometimes i quicly need of it..how can i show it?
Read the Wiki about missing files, patches number 1: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_WM5_Patches_ChangeLog
This is wierd?!?
After I did the upgrade the nice little BT icon was on the today screen, never bothered with it because BT is useless. Read these posts and had a look to see if I could work out how it got there and it has dissapeared?!?
The only thing I can think of is that I accidentally uninstalled one of the patches downloaded from wiki.
ill try and get it back on and let you know how I did it
Cheers

OOPs, sorry should have read Mastiffs post properly first
Mastiff is right, you need to install ba_wm5_fix_v1
Cheers

Well I've installed the BA_wm5 patch, but still have wifi problems. On 2003 my BA used to turn on wifi every time i turned on the unit, great as i have wifi at home and at work, now it always defaults to off and I have to switch it on every time I've turned off my BA. It's driving me nuts as I use email via wifi at work all day. Is there any way to get the wifi always on? Please....?
That's what I've been *****in' about for more than a week now...
Surely there's a way to default wifi to on, here's hoping somebody works it out before i downgrade to 2003.
i douwngraded to wm2003se..wifi on wm5 don't work at all..dosn't connect on my AP (on wm2003se is very fast)..so..because i need it i'll wait a more stable version..perhaps backlight regolation will be fixed
Backlight regulation was fixed more than a week ago! And I don't really know why you have WiFi problems, I have only one problem, that it defaults to off.

The default to off is the problem. I use my BA for work only. At home I use my wifi network to access work schedule appointments, and when in the office I use their wifi hotspot. At present i am having to tun on wifi realistically around a hundred times a day to update my joblist.
Is there a way to add any sort of utility to startup to turn it on at power on maybe?
I've tried everything to make my WiFi work but no luck.
However, I think I'll hold on because I really like WM5. I've ran through all the registry setting but nothing I've tried so far has made a difference. Enev tried downgrading the encryption settings on my MIMO. Furthermore, when I take off SSID broadcast, my BA seems to be able to see the AP but still fails to connect.
It's really annoying because I like to synchronize Avantgo over WiFi and most importantly use my BA when I'm in the bathroom doing you know what. Somebody please help!
Hey Mastiff, what security settings have you got enabled on your Access Point?

Cytrax, did you install activesync 4 to upgrade your rom? You can't sync by wifi on activesync 4 at all, they've removed the option from the program!
cytrax, I have 64 kbit WEP and MAC access control since the 128 kbit WEP was slow to access with another CE unit I have.
Thanks for that info, mastiff.
OK, this is wierd! At this particular point, WiFi works on my BA. However, it only works when I'm at work. The settings configured on Work AP is very similar to what I've got at home. The only difference is I use Netgear MIMO at home while Buffulo Airstation is deployed at work. This is really freaking me out (well, not exactly, but it's annoying).
I also tried with an old Belkin AP last night but didn't get any luck. I think I'm going to try 64bit WEP once I reach home. Watch this space!

A possible fix for GPRS problems.
I have noticed that if I boot my Alpine into “safe mode” provided by the new SPB Pocket Plus, my GPRS works great. Normally I would have a problem of the GPRS only working after a fresh reboot and then not connect a second time unless I was really lucky.
I deleted the reg key, [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\CallerID] and it seems to work fine now.
Hello,
Well I got a GPRS problem to, but I think I found a solution.
I must disconnect the GPRS connection BEFORE to switch the mobile off. If not, I cannot reconnect as you...
My 2 eurocents ;-)
Eric
If this works I'll have to buy you a beer sometime.
A while ago I upgraded my ROM, and didn't install all that crap at the first boot. GPRS was working fine after that, so I thought it was the upgraded ROM. The other day I formatted it again, but let it install everything. GPRS was having that "reconnecting for the second time" issue... So I knew it had something to do with some of that software... but which? I wasn't feeling like formatting it again...
anyway, I'm trying this, and see if it works for me.
man... I love you.
I've got tears in my eyes and all...
Hi
When i want to connect GPRS network on my htc touch diamond, my phone connect EDGE instead of gprs and the E icon show on taskbar !
and ther is no internet.
Please Help me
Help i need it to be GMT -5 Eastern my calendar is not correct! I switched to the 2.3 ROM and this started happening any way to tweak a default so it won't switch??
Allow a fellow newbie who asked the same question to help.
There is a problem, not with the ROM but with towers. GO to settings\Phone and in the Time Zone Tab, deselect auto change. Remember that if you travel you will have to change the clock manually.
Hopefully a fix will come out for this as some point, either from Cingular or one of the great guys here.
Enable Time Zone Tab
And if you don't have the Time Zone tab (it's under settings->phone) you can run this cab from the T-Mobile ROM to enable it. You can also edit the registry, but for those that don't want to play with the registry this is a bit easier.
Hope it helps.
darn... i should have found this!
Thanks to all the feedback, feeling stupid now..

Don't feel stupid. That one caught most of us on this release! Being in South FLA when it switched to Indiana really threw my Calendar coming from my Exchange 2003 into a snit.
My father used to tell me that there were no stupid questions ... unless you kept asking them ...

Thanks
I have a same problem, everytime I do soft reset, my time changes to GMT -4.caracas  ...glad I found this post and would like to thanks everyone for solving the problem. 8)
I had this same problem on the AKU2.3 ROM and just switched it off as well. Mine was switching me to Saskatchwan or something like that, and it was an hour off. Anyway, I'm almost certain I had network time updating on with the 2.17 ROM but it always read the correct location. Wonder why the new ROM is dorked up...

My guess is the registry hack enabled something basic while this newer ROM implemented something more. 2.17 seemed to work just fine. I roamed in good test cases and it worked without a single problem (I'm based in Atlanta but took the phone to Toronto, Seattle, Anchorage, and San Jose while on 2.17). I felt like Johnny Cash last month! http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/johnnycash/ivebeeneverywhere.html
As soon as 2.24 booted, it was screwy and made me wonder if I picked the wrong time zone during set-up.
Maybe the new ROM can't figure out where it is because it's so freakin fast! I'll take the speed over time zone automation any day but it was nice while it lasted.
Yeah i definitely love the speed and will deal with the time zone. But I know in the old 1.08 the time zone setting worked fine, so I am saying that it is the ROM and not the towers and stuff that people are saying. But I absolutely love the new ROM.

hi this is understandable but my phone changes date to 3 days forward and dont know what is heppening please help
thanx
Oh yeah, don't get me wrong...this is a MINOR annoyance compared to the speed and stability. Definitely worth the trade off. The few times I'll travel, I'll just switch it manually!
still no timezone settings
I have a stock phone... I installed this cab and nothing happened...
I however tried downloading this first from my phone and it was a php file...
same size so i think it was actually the download but named php.. so i changed it and installed it ... nothing new... soft reset... nothing new...
so i just downloaded it from my laptop and installed the cab onto the mda and ran it... nothing new... soft reset... nothing new...
im checking settings / personal / phone
its just not there
upgraded rom and now I have that tab... however...
if my network is picking up a time later than what I have and that is the network time then what time do my nights and weekends free night time minutes start then ?
just a thought?
is it my time or the time the time it thinks it is in Indiana?
How on earth do you turn it off for good until switched back on. My orange is connecting with gprs and you have to go up to the title bar to turn it off how do i make it so GPRS dose not or will never work until switched on.
Step by step please
Thanks in Advance.
Bump!! Anyone?? Just got billed lots.
Try forcing the phone to use gsm mode only...should be in the network settings.
..and hopefully a registry tweak will show up in the future.
i am not sure what are you asking for.
try this out: http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-software/246171/new-free-utility/

you are welcome. this utility is quite well-known for the community in this forum. it's proven to be working. for most of us, we have unlimited local GPRS plan. we don't care the GPRS usage report by SPB GPRS, so we seldom install it. Instead, we more perfer the small NoData utility.
hello, i am new to this forum and have a few questions. i have downloaded kaiser tweaks and bandswitch to TRY and save battery for my att tilt, so far i think it has helped a tiny bit, but i dont know how to use bandswitch. i want to set it up so when im at home i use wifi and when im not i use edge. is there any way to do this? i feel like ive search enough with no luck to finally ask. thanks in advance
I turn off the WiFi when I am not using it.
Try the power button located on the right side of your tilt.
