Great News!
Great news!
Have been waiting for this release for donkey years!
This is good news. Can the client work on networks other than that of O2? Can you put a link to download it here? I have a qtek 2020i and would like to use the program if I can.
Thanks,
Gilbert

Should be able too. Havent tried on XDAIIi though, maybe later tonite. My previous experience with XDAII Blackberry was possible using Singtel (Singapore) mobile network. The only sticky thing was that the O2 Official ROM for BB must be used. Otherwise, even installing the BB client on other ROM version of XDAIIi or QTEK 2020i is of no use.

DON'T UPGRADE THE RADIO IF YOU WANT TO USE BLACKBERRY!
RIM check the ROM version and RADIO version before they allow you to connect to the relay. If it's not an approved mix, your device IMEI will be BARRED from the relay.
If you don't need BB.... NO WORRIES!
D/loading now
If you don't need Blackberry, then you probably don't need this upgrade! ??
Anyone know/see any other changes?
Not check what else is new to busy playing with Blackberry, its working great!
Really happy to see that Calendar works properly with the BES

Just need contacts & tasks now...
Hi Guys
Have not installed it yet on my xda IIs, but planning too. Can anyone say if the BB Client supports seeing "delivered" and "read" a la the RIM pager devices?
Many Thanks!

Working very well on my XDAIIi using the new released ROM. Sending and receiving emails and calendar syncing from my corporate email exchange.
Thumbs up!
Hi Cychiam
That sounds good. I am particulary interested in the 'delivered' and 'read' functionality.
When you send an e-mail to someone, does this client show you when it has been delivered to the recepients device? Likewise, when the recepient has read the message, does this client send you a message or indicate that your message has been opened and read by the recipient?
Many Thanks
Chris

Not quite sure what you really mean. When an email is successfully delivered/sent out, that mail be will moved to SENT folder. That's how I know it got sent out.
As for message opened and read by recipient, I don't think the Blackberry client on XDAIIs/XDAIIi now support it.
Hi Cychiam
By 'delivered' I mean that you know that the message you sent has successfully reached the intended recipient. For example, sometimes you may send an e-mail to someone but have the address wrong. It will still show up in your sent folder, but may not get delivered. MS Outlook will typically send you any error message back if it did not reach the recipeint. Wondering if this client has similar functionality..?

chris
I want to Cancel
Ok, Now we have blackberry Connect on the XDAIIi I now want Blackberry Enabled on my Sim and being told I can't on my Personal Account. ANy one know a way round this else I will just find a way to cancel it.
IS it me?
Is it me or have they removed teh detials on how to setup Internet Mail with Blackberry from teh software download pages? And HCnged teh info to INdicate teh Enterprise Server only?
Seems they have scaled down.
Can it run on the O2 XDA II?
Hi!
Ayone tested on O2 XDA II with WM2003se?
Thanks
Hi yawll,
Just a heads up for all those who are wanting info on TMobiles plans for the Vario, I am havign emails with tech support atm who are saying there is a new update planned for the end of June that will include the extras we are seeing in the recent Qtek and Imate rom releases...
Dunno why there taking so long? I mean to release an update then pull it takes the mick, but to wait three months longer than other carriers to release an update makes me
Cheerio,

Thx
Thx for the update though fella
I applied the i-Mate upgrade to my T-Mobile UK Vario and selected the T-Mobile UK operator option when applying the customisation.
It still didn't setup the GPRS APN stuff - which I expected it to do. Before I was using the T-Mobile shipped ROM.
Is this normal or is there something missing from the customisation?
I also tried the separate t-mobileUK.cab and that didn't set up the GPRS either.
Thanks

no worries... wish they'd pull their finger out tho!
Would any kind person be able to generate a new UK T-Mobile.cab that did configure the GPRS & MMS settings as well and perhaps add back in the defaults favorites/homepage url.
I'm sure this would get a lot of use now we have this new generic i-Mate firmware available
Thanks

Easiest way is grab hold of the Tmobile Extended Rom from the FTP and use the two connection configuration files in there, job done!
but at the same time a working cab would be spot on!
I read an interesting conspiracy theory the other day that theorised the reasons why T mobile are going to be late with an upgraded ROM.
“There are devices running on the AKU2 out there, HTC devices even. Could it be that it is not the new ROM that is causing problems, but the T-Mobile Exchange platform offering push e-mail that T-mobile has announced? With push email in the new ROM but a Exchange platform that is not ready yet, users can easily go to some other service provider to get working push e-mail their. Without the ability to use push e-mail on their SIM locked devices however, MDA Vario users have no other option but to wait for the ROM that does support push e-mail to be released by T-Mobile”
Not my words I must stress, but there's generally no smoke without fire....
Can you confim which are the connection files in the extROM is it

hi,
you really only need the first one you highlighted... If you install the second one without the 2nd part of the wap push profile you'll get "cannot find elateservice message ever reboot" you may also want the file called CAB-Customization-TMUK-Wizard-01-04-03Oct05

im having problem banking in the usa with my kaiser . the bank won't send any info to my device. For sercure reasons . anyone have a clue on what i can do ?
I believe you need to pass your pocket ie into a normal ie.
TO do that there are instructions in the registry edit sticky in upgrading kaiser
*edit just checked, its not there.
Got this from xda wiki
Change Pocket IE to IE Version 5.5 (For Secured Sites)
* Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\ key.
* Set the default value to "Mozilla/4.0" (Default is "Mozilla/2.0").
* Set the "Version" value to "MSIE 5.5" (Default is "MSIE 3.02").
* Set the "Platform" value to "Windows NT 5.0" (Default is "Windows CE").
This will only work on some secure sites that check version number rather than perform a check for support of secured transactions.
This registry hack will make Pocket Internet Explorer identify itself as IE 5.5 on Windows 2000. However it will prevent web sites that provide Pocket PC specific content to be able to know you're actually using a Pocket PC.
And btw, becareful doing it over wifi. People can view what you send by intercepting the signal, assuming if they know how
Sorry but this will not work as in windows mobile 6 the ID is written into the module itself

Hi, can you expand on the above? is it all possible to change the browser user agent?
It's wierd, I've got the HTC TyTN II and my mate has just got the MDA Vario III and we're both on T-mobile UK. HE can access our bank, (rbsdigital.com) and I can't! Both using Pocket IE. I'll need to get him to check the browser user agent on his, see what it's reporting.
Thanks,
FrankyG
I'm having the same issue. I also downloaded Opera Mobile, and I'm getting the same issue. I had no problem with my AT&T 8525 (Hermes).
there is a browser.dll somewhere on the forum that nulls the agent string written in the dll, so the agentstring is taken from the registry and not the dll,
I use it to fake my Kaiser as a N95 so 3 video's stream correctly over planet3
Edit: I got it from Modaco http://www.modaco.com/Vodafone-Live-Settings-t259142.html

Please give more details. Most people are assuming it is a "wrong useragent" issue, but if you are using the wap.cingular APN (MEdia Net instead of My ISP with AT&T) instead if isp.cingular, the way wap.cingular round-robins your source IP randomly will randomly log you out of websites which are extra paranoid about session hijacking as soon as your IP changes. Use isp.cingular ("My ISP" network settings instead of "MEdia Net") instead.
I'm using the HTC Kaiser, and I'm using isp.cingular. Still the same issue.

i have never been able to do this from any of my WM devices with either WM5 or WM6 ... its like the phone doesnt support the security or something... ived tried it with 3 or 4 different banks with several devices both on the cellular data system and via wifi
This is very strange. I am able to log into Bank of America's mobile website with my 8525 running WM6 but I can't get to the same website with my Tilt. It can't be a Windows Mobile thing it has to be a regisrty setting. I was able to log in to the BofA main website using opera mini but the pages take a long time to render.
I've read a few articles that indicate that the browser.dll file on some phones is now being modified by the carriers to override the registry settings for User Agent and only present a fixed value. You might try pulling browser.dll out of a TyTN II ROM (which does use the registry value) and overwriting the one that's in your \Windows directory with it.

I am using the HTC TYTN II Rom on my Tilt. Still no joy.
bump...
The Vodafone CAB linked from Modaco does not fix Wells Fargo's site for me.
Opera Mobile works fine for Bank of America website on ATT Tilt w/ HTC ROM. Opera Mobile has a setting that I changed when it did not initially work- change Opera to identify your device as a desktop instead of PDA.
Hope this works,
Steve
No such luck with banking.wellsfargo.com
You can get the mobile portal though at www.wf.com, but it is vastly inferior.

I tried this cab from Modaco as well, still doesn't work. I've also tried the cab which installs the alternate browser.dll and changes the user agent string in the registry but no joy. Total dead end!!
Please, if there are any UK Kaiser users out there - can you try to access https://rbsdigital.com and see if you get the browser unsupported message? So frustrating as my mates's T-mob Vario III can access it no problem!!

That wouldnt be necessery as the handset is already unlocked.
Firstly i would install Hard SPL
Secondly i would start looking for either a standard HTC ROM or Custom ROM to remove the Orange branding, this should make things easier. With 3 AUS not selling the TP2 getting into my 3 may be awquard and i cannot help you there.

AFAIK you can access it via the browser, i know that my Orange UK stuff is accessible via the browser so i dont see why it should be an issue on 3, especially when in the UK a lot of GSM handsets are connected on 3 and can access everything.

How does the phone not support it? Palringo is a mutli-protocol IM client I use with the TP2. I also used it with my old Hermes. It does MSN, AIM, ICQ, and a ton of others. Also, there is a Skype application for Windows Mobile that is made by Skype, Inc. You can download it via their website at www.skype.com. And Palringo at www.palringo.com.
Many of these providers have 'custom' apps that they imbed into their shipped ROMS. As there is no shipped ROM from 3 AUS for the TP2, you might be pushing **** up hill. Of course they will support the device as a handset as it runs all the right frequencies etc. There's probably a proxy involved as well - that's how Telstra do it anyway for their apps like Foxtel.

That is true of what seems to be all providers with regards to the custom embedded apps, but to say that it isn't compatible with a program, is going a bit far. As for the proxy, AT&T here in the US uses one too, if I remember correctly.

What I meant was, on my 2 gig data plan, if I was to use a nokia phone for example, the data used for communicating with msn messenger and skype is not taken from the 2 gigs because there is unlimited free use of it since 3 have their own software which the user must download off their websites. There isnt such software available for windows mobile from 3, so data use for skype and msn on a win mob phone would take away from the 2 gig plan.
This is rediculous! It should be included, how hard is it for them to make a win mob version for their customers, the operating systems shouldn't affect compatability.

sorry, I wasn't saying the handset isn't compatible, but rather that it might be difficult to get what is required from the network provider, esp if it is an app.
hopefully carpkernel will be able to get to what he needs through a browser, thus removing the need for any custom telco provided app.

Ah yeah. T-Mobile in the US has a similar thing. The IM app they use, uses your text messaging as opposed to data. Thank goodness here we have unlimited data, so no need to worry about limits.

hopefully carpkernel will be able to get to what he needs through a browser, thus removing the need for any custom telco provided app.

"Reasonable price" are two words that cannot be used in a sentence to describe Aussie carries for data plans. We dont even have unlimited internet plans for HOME cable and adsl 2, without the provider capping our speeds after reaching 60 gigs on most plans... how backwards are we.

lol I know. Two words that are practically unheard of for Oz. My buddy in Brisbane and another in Adelaide both have the same issues.

The free minutes that 3 (Aus) provide are only available if you use their custom skype client which uses a dialup-gateway for access to skype network.
EDIT: I did post a whole lot of info about using iSkoot to connect to 3skype but it seems that 3 have now thwarted that so it is hopeless. You can (apparently) still use one of the java clients intended for other phones but I cannot confirm this (the old LG Shine jad I have doesn't run on my JBlend java and even if it did it would suck without any touch support or D-pad)
Thanks for your help everyone all sorted...Found the info on the Aussie 3 website. Not exactly the easiest info to find on their site but its just a simple case of putting in your mobile number on the 3 site and they supply a code. They send you a message and you type in the code and the settings are changed Automatically. Planet 3 settings are also sent to the phone so that I can use my pre paid plan. For anyone who has had the same problem cut and paste the link http://www.three.com.au/care and follow the instructions. Thanks again much appreciated.
glad it worked out for you
Thanks for posting that info, am on the 3 network too and this worked for me.
Just received my Touch Pro 2 today from an Australian online store, but I note phone has a Singapore 240V adapter and am downloading the WM 6.5 upgrade from the Singapore section of HTC after punching in the SN. Won't let me download the WM 6.5 upgrade from the Aussie Download area.
I must admit with this non aussie ROM the reception is better than my old touch pro. Carpkernel do you have access to the aussie WM 6.5 upgrade via your SN on the HTC website?
