Odd behavior after upgrade to Ivan's ROM - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hi, hope you can give me some light into this..
After I upgraded from Tuma 1.3 to Ivan's 4 R2.1 i sometimes loose service and when i soft reset i see that the R ROM reads "NONE" and also the "G ROM" is set to NONE.
After i hard reset it reads the correct info and the phone works perfectly. Another thing i find strange is that i only loose the Time/Date Settings when i hard reset the device. Everyting else stays intact; contacts, calendar, tasks, partnerships.
Any thoughts?
thanks in advance,
fjv.

"Confused" shortcuts on screen

Hi there,
I wonder if anyone has had that problem before, and knows of a fix.
Ocassionally, after a few hrs/days of use, my SPV M1500 gets the screen shortcuts "confused" - for example, on the today screen I will tap on "Start" and TomTom will start, in the "Settings" screen I tap "Device info" and "backlight" comes up, and so on.
A soft reset solves the problem, but it will come back a few hours/days later.
It is annoying, to say the least.
Has anyone ever had this before? The M1500 is stock, except for an upgrade to Radio 1.04.00
Details:
ExtROM 1.11.167
OP Vers 3.11.1.167
ROM 1.11.00
Radio1.04.00
Protocol 1337.42
Thanks in advance,
seg
you should try recaliberating your screen. If the problem persists, do a backup followed by hard-reset(this ll also bring the caliberation screen)
Thanks for the reply, kdskamal.
I will try your suggestion, but the fact that after a soft reset everyrthing works fine, for a while, seems to imply that the calibration is OK?
It seems that something gets corrupted over time - more like a memory leak, or a stack overflow, or some other software problem.
Anyway, I will recalibrate to see if it makes any difference.
Thanks,
seg
Hi all,
As an update to this, I recallibrated the screen but the problem is still there. To make it even more interesting, a few nights ago I put the Alpine on the cradle, Activesync started, and then, the bluetooth manager fired up!
I have narrowed it down to two options:
--demonic possesion,
--badly corrupted registry.
Perhaps it's time for a hard resety and re-install...

You could try memory cleaning progs like Memmaid...
Or you could try cleaning the registry (Memaid also has that feature)...
Have you done any tweaks to your Alpine?

How can I uninstall WM6?

My TytnII freezes every time I turn on Bluetooth. The only way I can unfreeze it is by hard reset. Even after hard reset I can't turn on bluetooth without freezing the phone again. I have tried numerous ROMs but the problem remains. I would like to try uninstalling and reinstalling WM6. Can anyone tell me how to uninstall WM6?
Any other suggestions on how I can solve the Bluetooth problem would be most welcome. Thanks
By doing a hard reset you are reinstalling WM6. Are you installing any other apps that may be causing the problem.
I installed and removed some programs which caused my start menu to go funny.
Only way to solve this was a hard reset.
Press and hold the two soft keys with a - marked on them and then press the reset button on the bottom of the device with the stylus.
This will reset the whole device and you will loose all information, data, settings you have put onto or programmed into the device.#
I did this and left it as it should be out the box from the network
Tom
I think I cleared out everything before hard resetting. I used clear storage before the hard reset. I am sure I have hard reset correctly- using softkeys and reset hole-went to a white screen with blue print. I can only think that the version of WM6 in factory reset has become corrupted, hence my wish to uninstall. Thanks
Unlikely that your factory ROM got corrupted, but you can't UNINSTALL. You can only flash a the factory ROM again - do a search and you'll find the links to the factory ROMs for download. Better yet, flash to a cooked rom in the Upgrade forums, they're MUCH better!
Start > Settings > System > Remove Programs
:O
Later, Lew
I would say that if bluetooth locks your phone on different ROMS and after HARDRESET then its not a software issue as you have killed the software by installing ROMS and Hard Reset..
AH, didn't catch that he'd already tried different ROMs.
Have you tried different radio's? Don't think it'll help but...
Likely is time to send in for repair!

NO vibrate when receiving SMS. Please Help! Any suggestions appreciated.

Yes I have gone to Settings->Sounds & Notifications-> Notifications tab-> Messaging: New text message. After setting that to vibrate I have soft reset many times to no avail. Is there any kind of reg edit for this? I have searched for days on this topic and noone seems to have this problem. Is there any hope?
I just did a search and it appears there are many threads similar to this one. Try a search and see if any of the other threads have your answer.
Do you mind sharing a link? Because I'm having no luck.
i've not personally searched properly, but i'm guessing that Grizzley might recomend looking here
If you're problem isn't covered by a few google searches within XDA Devs, add a few more bits on info (rom, installed cabs, did it ever, when did it stop, etc etc etc)
If it did, and now doesn't, try soft resets - if no good try removing installed cabs (and change tone, why not! just use a default one for now)
If you still cant fix it, try a hard reset (see wiki for how) and remember to backup first. if you still dont get a vibrate.... maybe you have a hardware fault... does it vibrate on phone calls? have you installed a custom rom (ffs check the entire applicable thread if you have) if so, try a different one... or a stock one.
Searching is a good start - and saying you have is better still. But there really isn't enough info to help yet (yes, silly sh*t can mess it up, if my sd card gets removed & replaced my phone decides that my txts are now silent - with no ring or vibrate - even tho the audio file is on the device.... go figure!)
Ok I tried everything....even installed new apps to help with it....nothing. And yes it does vibrate on phone calls. So I decided to hard reset. NOTHING. Just calls. Gah, it worked for a little while when my phone was brand new, and I havent even flashed a new rom. ?????

Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Sounds Tab -> Make sure the programs check box is checked and then check the notifications check box as well
I had the same problem too, until I looked through everything.
Hope this helps.
Do you have any programs such as phonealarm or spb phone suite installed? It could be as simple as changing the settings in one of them to vibrate for sms.

My Tilt has the same problem with emails. It will vibrate when getting a call, but not when receiving emails. I checked all the Notifications settings and made sure that Vibrate is checked but to no avail. Not having it vibrate for emails is a major bummer for me.

Xperia Issues

I just got my Xperia 2 days back and i found the following issues.
1. When writing sms either by stylus or by hard keyboard, it feels like X1 is hang or no response for about 2 secs. This happens almost 75% of the time.
2. If SMS send notification is on, upon receiving this notification X1 is hang or no response for few seconds. However it can be avoided by turning off this feature.
3. Signal strength is very weak compared to HTC Diamond or any other phones.
I even did a Hard Reset. My ROM=1.02.931.3 and RADIO=1.06.25.29
Does anyone have these problems? Is there any known cure?
Yup mine is the same. Exact same ROM and Radio with exact same problem. Guess we just have to flash one new ROM to solve this issue.
Looks like something went sideways while setting up your ROM. I recommend you both to back up your current settings (contacts, text messages, emails etc.) and hard-reset it. If you don't know how:
1) Turn off your device
2) Hold both buttons underneath the screen down
3) While holding the two buttons, turn your phone on
4) You will end up in a white reset-screen, follow the onscreen instructions, using the slide-out HW keyboard
Your phone will reset and restart configurating like you did first time you booted it up.
If the problem persists after that, you could indeed try flashing a ROM, but if your phone doesn't work out of the box, I would send it back myself - just to be sure it isn't a hardware issue.
Yes. Same Rom. Same Radio. Same Issues. Hard Reset Twice. Still same. No Improvement.

No you do not need to reinstall the softwares that came with your phone. Only the additional softwares that you installed will need to be reinstalled again
Same ROM and SAME PROBLEMS for me !!
This ROM was the very first released retail ROM, maybe a ROM update could help
On the meantime I have disabled SMS SENT notifications with XperiaTweak V2 but I still have the key-lag when starting to write SMS msgs
And yes: Problem persists afer hard-reset
PLEASE REMEMBER: this is the first ROM of a very first breed of SONY devices. Bugs are there... like it or not... I guess SONY will release a fine-tuned ROM upgrade soon (VERY soon...) along with more panels
Issues 1 & 2: Same ROM and SAME PROBLEMS for me !!

Issue 3: I dissagree !! Maybe we can't compare because I am on a 850MHz network, but let me tell ya: MY RECEPTION IS SUPER-DUPER-EXCELLENT !!! No complaints here: full bars 90% of the time, everywhere I go
I also have all 3 issues. Am waiting for Rom (for 1st two issues) and Radio (3rd issue) update from sony.

can't sync after upgrade :(

hello. i recently upgraded to the latest WM6.5 rom (21189) by sun_dream. after the update it was ok. but i can't sync my BA with my pc. i noticed that i failed to "kill" wcescomm before running the update. i need your help! do i need to redo the upgrade itself? i tried to uninstall active sync 4.5 and installed 4.1 but the same results. please advise.
thanks & regards!
junnel
Umm I dont know if this would work for you, but try going to settings, connection, and usb connections. There look for something that says something about advanced wireless connections. Make sure thats on(checked). Cause that prevented me from active sync before.
IF that doesnt work, then perform a hard reset. It'll basically reset your devices settings.
To do a hard reset, push the reset button on the bottom of the Blue Angel with the stylus but quickly hold both the buttons on the left side(rec and media) after the reset. Your suppose to been have holding the buttons before the version shows up. After that, 3 things should show up. You want the 2nd and 3rd one to have yes on them, leave the kt memory things as no. Use the rec. to change from yes to no, and media button to scroll down. After the 2nd and 3rd are set to yes. Just hit the mail button. And a white screen should pop up, and the device would reset.
good job, tada1228
that's the way to go.
if all that, however, doesn't solve your problem, try a different, newer build, like 21193, 21198 or 21202.
21202 in my opinion, is the best wm6.5 rom so far, way faster than the revious build, and since your rom is under 21190, even just by one, it wouldn't support several plugins, like titanium weather, fave people and other things.
21189 is a nice build and i don't wanna diss sun_dream, but xplode's 21202 is just a little nicer, faster and i like it better (plus it has a way better extrom).
my BA is up and about! thanks alot, man..
