Is there a way to make Storage bigger? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Is there a way to make Storage bigger?
I've an unlocked and clean Extended_ROM folder, is there a way to merger it with Storage like on Magician?

yes u can, but please be aware that by doing this, all your data in extended rom will be permanently erased. please download the file i attach with this msg and follow the instructions:
1. Copy Repart.exe to your device and launch it using file explorer on the pda.
2. Set size of Extended ROM to 128 kb
3. Press "Format now!" and wait until it is done (A few seconds). You will see a message that it is done.
Soft reset.
good luck.

Wow, great!
Now I have a Storage about 60Mb!
Thank you, imatrix!

Hi i tried it but i'm getting the following message
FL_IOCTL_FORMAT_PHYSICAL_DRIVR failed.
What should i do ?
THanks

WARNING: IF YOU ARE USING WINDOWS MOBILE 2003(SE), DONT DO THIS, BECAUSE THERE MAY BE IMPORTANT FILES IN THERE STORED BY YOUR OPERATOR.

hi. what could i be doing wrong?
i'm on tuma 1.3 already with only 43MB storage. is it possible to get 60MB while still in wm5?
i tried to unhide and then unlock. i'm successful in unhide, but i get an error message "FL_IOCTL_BDTL_HW_PROTECTION - The paramater is incorrect." during unlock.
so i also get a "FL_IOCTL_FORMAT_PHYSICAL_DRIVR failed" error message when i run repart.exe.
btw, i still don't understand how to go back to wm2003se, even after reading so many threads.
EDIT: i may be on the right track. i guess i need to be in wm2003se first to run the two applications, so i have to downgrade from tuma 1.3. i've downloaded the old rom, and extracted it. will go back to it later.

yes, i now understand i shouldn't use the ExtROM tools in wm2003.
haven't done the downgrade. what do i do now when i'm still in wm5? i still get the error message when i click on "unlock".

if u read up there is a file name xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB which u can download, follow instruction to unlock and unhide the ext_rom then u can re-partition your ext_rom

Cool, so you can reformat in WM5? I thought I had to downgrade... that is if I am reading these post correctly.

afer resizing, u should do a hard-reset to make sure everything running smooth.

i still couldn't use the xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB in wm5 because of the error message when i choose unlock (though unhide worked fine).
i had to downgrade to wm2003se (i completely understand how to do the downgrade now  ).
i'm now a happy camper with tuma 1.3, radio 1.15 and 60MB storage

try the cab i attached. if that does not work for you, you have one of those devices, that simply won't unlock. plus, looking at your signature, you seem to be using wm6. unlocking and resizing the extrom partition is ONLY possible in wm2003, before you try to access the extrom, you must downgrade first!

FL_IOCTL_FORMAT_PHYSICAL_DRIVE failed.

Hi all, i've installed WM5 on my blue angel, but i was unable to resize the storage card to 60 mb (i would to make it), because everytime i try to launch on my device resize_doc.exe, i receive the following error:
FL_IOCTL_FORMAT_PHYSICAL_DRIVE failed.
this happens on both wm2003 (before upgrade) an WM5 (after upgrade).
How can i resize my storage card?
PS: after the installation a new drive named TEMP DISK has appeared? What is this?
Thanks

Thanks, and yes i've tryed too to unlock and unhide the extended rom in wm2003, but the supplied tool has failed too, with some other error that i don't remember
Perform these steps in WM2003SE
1. unlock extrom
2. unhide extrom
3. resize extrom to 128k
you now have 60 mb storage (it is storage, not storage card)

try this fix....
you should try to flash your extrom to another language of Extrom... or another carrier.
according to the bottom notes of THIS(Read this) post...
then try the procedure again in WM2003
PH20B O2___001 (O2XdaIIs)
Tried that ROM, as well as others to no avail. Installed WM6 anyway, let the internal battery drain, and random stuff disappeared. Owner info, start menu and today items, program settings, etc. I assume because it was stored in volatile memory. Please investigate!

Someone Please Help Me :) (ExtROM question)

Alright.
Here is what I have done up until now.
I searched this forum trying to find out how to unlock my ExtRom.
I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1424566&postcount=374
I downloaded the zip files followed the directions and NADA. It keeps giving me some error.
I am a pretty smart cookie. I have been a network engineer for 8 years. I will be more then willing to help someone else out who can help me.
Thanks in advance
David
Just be sure to install the CAB's on the device, and soft reset after every install. Never managed to make it NOT work on my Treo
K i installed both. And did a soft reset after each one.
Now what?
Use Total Commander to empty the ExtendedRom

works in WM5?

That was exactly the pattern I followed about a dozen times, but continued to get 2 different error messages which told me to soft reset and try again every time I tried to launch the extendedROM application in Programs. Since I wouldn't have lost much more time to reflash my 750 if the worst happened, I took the chance of deleting the extendedROM files and partition with the standard File Explorer and hard reset the unit. Now, it's plain vanilla and no hiccups.
I get a error.
Insetkey failed when i run the prgram in the programs.
it says please reset the device then do it again.
I hit the reset button do it again and same error.
Any better ideas?
Do it again 3 or 4 times and more (if you get same message).
Then, you will see the another message.
I did it 100 times reset it I dozen times..
It does not work at all.
Is there another work around???
I got the Extended rom to work, but my questions are such...
what exactly does the extended rom do?
what is the benefits of having extended rom?
and is there a way to have more than 8.57 mb?

same here. ran the unlocker many times with reset after each.
first message is "insertkey failed! please reset device then do it again"
followed by "changeprotectiontypefailed. please reset device then do it again"
followed by "unprotect finish! please reset device"
after rest I still see all the 3 stuff and only UMTS in the Band Selection. does this mean it's not unlocked?
I manually deleted the 2 files from the Partition under Extended Rom, using File Explorer.
Am I missing something?
Any help will be appreciated.
Y.
After removing the 2 files from the unlocked ExtROM, should a small 32k filenamed 'ExtROMCopy.exe' remane under the Windows dir? Viewiing its properties from Resco shows the file is in Rom and is Read-only, fwiw.

So are you saying that it is not necessary to do the whole ExtRom unlocker thing??
Using file explorer, I found the files "ExtROMcopy" @ 32.1K but I don't see any way to delete it. I cannot find any type of partition. I also found "AT&T Icons" @82.2K and it is possible to delete that one. Or am I totally missing the boat somehow......

30.53 MB of storage - REMINDER

As people keep asking over and over... I'll remind you all the procedure of joining your ExtROM with a storage space, giving you as much storage, as 30.53 MB
First, you have to download ExtROM Unlocker, install it on your device' storage (not on SD card, nor on RAMDisk!). This will give you 4 shortcuts in Programs folder:
- unhide ExtROM
- hide ExtROM
- unlock ExtROM
- lock ExtROM
First, choose "Unhide ExtROM" and perform a soft reset. After that, choose "Unlock ExtROM". Perform a soft reset.
Now, get HimaDOCTool. Run it, and do a DOC (disk-on-chip) format.
Then, hard reset. Generally it should be enough, but you'll be safier if you will do it this way:
1. Hold Camera and Record button and press reset. Hold it a while, until you'll see three options at the top. Choose:
* Enable KITL: No
* Clean Registry Hive: Yes
* Format Storage: Yes
You can walk between them and change with Camera and Record buttons.
And press Action on your DPad.
Voila
Attention!:
Ather90 developed an UI (user interface) for above apps, which gives you a lot easier progress with this task. All the info about its usage is contained on the first page of this application.

I'd like to throw in that you'll get a 'trusted certificate error' unless you install the unlocker on the device - running off the storage card won't work.

2) install on Storage, not on RAMdisk either
This step should show in Start>Programs 4 icons (shortcuts) named
-unhide ExtROM (use for step 3)
-hide ExtROM (do not use)
-unlock ExtROM (use for step 5)
-lock ExtROM (do not use)
Do not look for a FILE called Unlock! It is a SHORTCUT in the PROGRAMS folder.
If after step 4 you either do not see the unlock icon, or if it shows some neutral icon instead of something that looks like a yellow padlock, or if you get a "unknown certificate" error when you cilck this icon, it probably means that you accidentally did install on RAMdisk or SD card. In those cases go to Settings>Install>Remove Software, select ExtROM Unhide/Unlocker>remove, soft reset, install again, this time to Storage, EXTROM should still be unhidden so go straight to step 5 and so on till DOCtool is finished.

Never say never. Not the NAND ROM itself is the limit but the fact that the OS currently only allows itself to look there for Storage. In theory a kernel hack or a driver could change all that.

The office mobile doesn't work anymore, the things that haven't worked before (like PSSHutXp, TomTom etc) don't work. It can't be connected to any computer not by Active Sync on Windows 2k or XP, and not with Windows Mobile on Vista. I have a lot of icons duplicated on the desktop with (1) behind the name aka Calendar and Calendar (1) and can't get rid of them.... what can I do? Can any one help me please? I am ready to throw that thing out of the window!
Thanks a lot in advance
.
I suggest you to do a hard reset...
Have you dit it when you was upgrading?
Because after upgrade you have to do it, to avoid problems with some pieces of applications , that have been left in your memory...
thanks for your reply, much appreciated. Yes I did hard reset it, it won't even use the Extrom on the SDCard to give me office or anything, even it said the cabs are installed. Stupid thing!
I now went back to the original O2 crap old ROM and search for 6.1 but I can't seem to find one that works, the ones I found on here don't install right away but go through syncing, which mine won't so it keeps saying the device doesn't respond lol. I think I seriously give up soon and just throw it out I had enough, and I am good with computers etc usually, I build them and all, just I never had a PDA before.
Anyone know something?
if it didn't use the extrom from the sd card you probably still have the internal extrom in the device and forgot to format and resize it before you first upgraded to wm5 and above. what you need to do to get rid of all that old crap is:
1. downgrade to your shipped rom, remember, now that your device is WWE, you need to use MAupgradeut_noID and botloader to avoid country id and device id errors.
2. download xda-unlocker.cab and repartDOC.exe and put them on an sd card. install the unlocker.
3. run the unlocker by going to the start menu, EXTROM tools, click "Unhide" then "Unlock"
4. run repartDOC and set the size to 128kb
5. run the unlocker again by going to the start menu, EXTROM tools, this time click "Lock" then "Hide"
6. now your device does not have the internal extrom anymore, meaning you have 16MB more storage capacity and you can use extroms coming from the sd card.
7. then flash back the new rom, say wm6.1, again using the MAupgradeut_noID and bootloader mode.
8. when done, perform a hard reset, notice that the procedure for hard resetting changed, (press reset+power+record+camera)
9. in the menu appearing, the options ARE set:
Enable KITL: YES
clean registry hive: NO
format storage: NO
using the camera and record button, flip all the settings, so it says:
Enable Kitl: NO
clean registry hive: YES
format storage YES
10. confirm with the mail button, your screen turns white, and after some time, the device boots and installs the extrom from the sd card.
that is the procedure to go through, when first upgrading to wm5 and above and since your device made special problems, my wildest guess would be, that you forgot to resize the extrom, which is the reason the sd card's extrom was not loaded. plus you probably performed no hard reset or did it wrong, which is why the device was filled with garbage even after flashing a new rom.
if that manual was to fast, or you didn't get any of the things above, there is a wizard (assistant, not the device) in the wiki, to guide through the upgrade process, there you will also find the download links for the mentioned unlocker and repartdoc:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrade1_WM2003SE0
that link is already one step into the problem and starts with the extrom resize, assuming that you flash your shipped rom first, and need no help doing that.
remember: you cannot resize your extrom from wm5 and above, for your device to run properly, you need to go back to wm2003 first.
have fun and good luck with that
Thank you very much Chef Tony. I was willing to put it up for sale but I will try what you suggested once again, even I am sure I ran through it all and did it, but it doesn't hurt to try it again. If I am still too stupid to use the Blue Angel, or still don't get along with it, I can always sell it afterwards.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
UPDATE:
I have done it on my XP computer this time, not Vista, and it worked. The other thing I did wrong, no laugh at me if you want LOL, but I am a novice and have my blonde moments , and never did this before, I unrared ALL the files in the EXTROM Folder... this time I only unrared the main folder and put them all on the card as they were inside that unpacked EXTROM Folder. Works like a charm now and the programs are installed and I can use it... saves me a LOT of money as I was ready to sell everything I have to sell to get the iphone, now thanks to you I can use the XDA IIs as it should work.
I owe you one! VIELEN LIEBEN DANK FUER DEINE HILFE.
