the other day i came across instructions on here of how to use memmaid and omap to auto-overclock on bootup and on wakeup. However when i create my short cut it bombs if i have the switch in there "-clock 252".
I cannot find the orignial instructions and not getting any love from the search in finding it.
Anyone happen to have it bookmarked?
Yes it's here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40284&start=300
That be it!
Thanks!
SmartsKey works well for that too.
I had left off the double quotes on the path to the exe, otherwise I had it setup right
SmartsKey works well, but this way there is no interaction of any type involved. On bootup it overclocks and waking up it overclocks.

Am I missing something? There's no interaction required with smartskey either, there's a setting to change teh clock speed and keep it there, on bootup and waking up...
Related
I did an upgrade to the 2.17 ROM. Part of the included extras in the upgrade are the overclocking programs that summiter included. ie Clock200/240/252.
It is my understanding that it is a temporary overclock that when the unit goes on standby it returns to the normal speed demon that it is which is fine. I don't need speed all the time at the expense of battery life.
The question is this. When I click on the clock icon, let's say the 240 one. Nothing happens. The icon is just highlighted, but no process takes place. I double tap etc... and nothing. Is that how it's suppose to act? I go to settings/system/Device Info/Hardware and it still shows the speed as 195 Mhz.
Any one have light to shed on the subject?
Thanks in advance.
Phil
I would sure love an answer to this one!

thats to be expected. when you click omap252 or omap240 or omap200, think of it as triggering a background process that resets the speed. you won't see no screens or nothing.
if you want, run one of them, then run \program files\omapclock\omapclock.exe, and you'll see how fast youre actually running (i.e., i ran omap252, and when i open \program files\omapclock\omapclock.exe, it says current speed = 252)
Got it! I can see the change now. I thought it would change in the setting/system part of the OS.
Cool feature

what chungeez said and stuff.
Hey everybody! This is my first post on the xda-developers forums and I thought I'd make it a useful one. I attached the first WinMo6 application I made for my Tilt. It's a program which locks your keypad with the standard PIN prompt and quits. It's use? Lock your phone and set it to standby with two keys and no stylus.
Reason I wrote it? The second day I got the Tilt I found that the concept of being unable to lock the phone without the stylus confused and infuriated me.
Here's how you use it:
1. Download the .Zip file to your computer.
2. Extract the contents and copy the contained .Exe to your phone
3. Use jgermuga's PTT remap instructions found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1577293&postcount=12
4. For the \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C7 key set the (Default) value to "\Path\To\KeyLock.exe" (Obviously replace \Path\To\ with the appropriate path, mine was "\Temp\")
5. Also add a string called ResetCmd with the same value.
I used "MobileRegistryEditor" to edit the registry on my Tilt. Also included in the .Zip is the source code in case you want to compile from source, audit the code, or just don't trust me. Compile it yourself if you wish.
With the above steps you can have a simple method to lock and standby your phone: Hold down the PTT talk button for just about 1 second then quickly tap your power button. As soon as the application begins launching your phone is already being locked so you do not have to wait for it to display anything other than the spinning "please wait" wheel. Power it off right away.
This has made my life significantly easier, and I hope it helps yours!
Enjoy

Hmmm, doesn't seem to be working to well for me.
I orginally had setup up the 40C7 to open my "File Manager" (which worked fine)
SO I reset the value to "\Program Files\KeyLock.exe" where I had placed the file.
I ran the program.. it asked me if it was ok to run I told it yes... Scratched my head for a minute wondering what happened.. Went back to the post realized I missed step 5 "5. Also add a string called ResetCmd with the same value."
So I created a new string ResetCmd with the Value "\Program Files\KeyLock.exe" restarted the phone.. when I press the button now the loading thing comes up and the screen seems like it either flashes or flickers.. and nothing happens..
Than tried reseting the phone by pressing the little button at the bottom, after it booted up still no luck.
Let me know your thoughts... ( I used mobile registry editor as well )
What language is this programmed in, I'll just get the software from my work and see if I can play with it a bit...
OH and FYI running AT&T's Stock loaded Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
or you can download devicelock1.2, and map it to one of your hardware buttons. pretty much uses the built in device lock, but it makes it available so you can map it to a button, thus no need to use stylus to lock.
no need to unzip, just drag the file into your phone and install.

Where would I get this?
^ i updated my post, its attached now.
Ty, I ended up searching the forums for it and found it. I'll give it shot and post back in a few.
Thanks Device Lock 1.2 Works Like a Champ. TYVM for your help sir.
Hmm whats the deal with the beeping noise right before it initates the locking?
(I take it back, I like the beeping noise..)
Whats the deal with if you have it on EASY unlock. and Black Screen
When you hold down PPT to have it lock... then after it the screen goes black you press ppt again... Your easy lock is than disabled?
(I should probably post this in the Device Lock 1.2 orignal thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305402&highlight=device+lock)
I'm honestly unsure why it would not lock your device although I did set up a numeric PIN for my device which it prompts me to enter. Try running the .exe from the Program Files directory if you're still interested. If it doesn't lock your phone then I'm unsure why.

Yea I had tried that too. But the Device Lock 1.2 seemed to have solved my problem. Thanks though.
Hi:
Sorry if this is a dumb question. When you use DeviceLock, do you still have to press the power button to wake up screen before unlocking? I hate that power button, it is too hard for me to find sometimes lol.
Thanks!

when you use device lock, it will lock your phone and dim it, not turn off the screen. so you do not need to press the power button to wake it up before unlocking.
there are options in the settings that will let you turn off the screen when you lock, but i dont think that is what you want. leave that setting unchecked.
I currently run my T-Mobile Wing at 240MHz thanks to the OMAP Overclock utility. I have found it to be quite stable but hate the process of having to re-overclock after each soft reset. I have done some research here on XDA but haven't found the answer to one or both of these questions:
1. Can the OMAP application be configured in some way to automagically run setting the processor to a desired speed after a soft reset (no user intervention)?
2. Is there a registry setting that can overlock the processor without requiring the OMAP application?
Many Thanks
BatteryStatus has an option to Overclock on reboot and Overclock on Wake Up
Works like a charm
second alternative to batterystatus is a program called omapclockplus (it's an additional program on top of omapclock...which might be what you're using to overclock)...might need to do a search on the forums for it...or a search through google...but it's a small program that will automatically set the clock speed to whatever you want on wakeup.

Thanks for the suggestion - tried BatteryStatus but wasn't all that thrilled with it personally. The OMAPClockPlus did the trick.
Ive ended up with stupid issue here, basically I replaced my digitizer with a cheap ebay one and made a mess of it, so now my touchscreen doesnt work. Ive been ok with that until today I flashed the rom to unlock the phone and the first screen pops up with "Please tap the screen to set up your device" or something similar. Thats something I cant physically do so if anyone knows a way around that I would LOVE to hear it
Cheers.
Not yet
People will recommend using tools such as mymobiler and such, that enable you to connect to your device over the PC using activesync.
It does work, for the first tap only. The screen alignment after that is where you are boned, I find myself in the same situation.
Try researching for registry keys that can be modified, as programs like Soti's Pocketpro will allow you to modify registry keys. I'll post if I find anything similar.
search for and read about "welcome.not". the idea is to create a blank file named "welcome.not" on your storage card so the phone chooses to skip the screen alignment wizard on first boot up.
The "solution" may be:
Try flashing one of Witschey's ROMs, because he does not include neither screen alignment nor apps setup in the ROM, so that you'll access the device after flashing, no need to soft-reset nor anything.
The question is, what are you going to do if you can't touch the screen ?
Well, i can do a few things that I need with it. Use it as a phone for a start
I get a free upgrade soon so Ill go with the hero or an iphone but until then I will need a phone and an mp3 player. You can still kind of use google maps even for GPS its just tricky. I did manage my way around London with it lol.
Thanks for the tips anyway guys, Ive tried deleting the welcome file already today but the device kind of locks after that in that you cant really see any icons, even tried 2 roms with it. I will give that Witschey ROM a go though that sounds like it could be the answer to this.
welcome.not
Welcome.not file worked for me, but I did not put in on a SD card, just in the root of the device after MS does activesync.
My computer<device<double click<paste
Took the battery out, turned it on, presto.
Thanks for that!!
No need to reflash, was cool.
Well I tried a Witschey ROM and its working great! Thank you afn961 for that one. It runs very fast indeed as well compared to the stock T-mobile WM6 I had on there. Only issue I have now is that I cant access some menus without the touchscreen, worst one being the running programs menu so stuff just stays open. Cant win em all though.
quite a few cooked ROMs these days are built so that the screen alignment wizard is skipped and it won't show up unless you invoke it explicitly.
i suggested the "welcome.not" approach because it is known to work in terms of skipping the screen alignment wizard and i thought you wanted to stick to the ROM you had because it was to your liking, else i'd have suggested one of the ROMs mentioned in the first paragraph.
finally, you CAN manage running applications using one of the many third party task switchers. i will suggest "showcase" or "taskfacade". the idea is to map your PTT button to invoke the task switcher. not sure if the following will work properly but you can set the default htc task manager to close applications (instead of minimizing them) when you press OK. so you can press OK to exit the foreground application or you can invoke the third party task manager to SWITCH to another application. that way, you get multitasking AND the ability to close the applications you don't need.
check it out and let us know how it goes, good luck!
has anybody seen this?

It would be nice to make this into a app, I am going to try to do that, how do i use console commands in a app?
Also, Im trying to figure out what all the keymappings are
A-Z:Same
1-9:Same
1-9 Numpad:Unsure
Symbols:Ctrl-Alt-Delete+Letter
Home:Home
Back:Escape
End:End
Menu:F1
Call/Answer:F3

Not sure if it's the same thing, but when you mean VNC, do you mean to connect to your computer and control? If so then there already is a VNC server app

Stop filling up development posts with unintelligent questions. I hope this post will filter this thread from many more meaningless posts.
Thanks Brandon. Had been looking for this for a long time.
Just in case, others run into the same problem I did to get it working,
I first adb pushed it to /sdcard and tried changing the permissions to make it an executable. But chmod does not work on /sdcard.
Finally, I deleted the file from /sdcard and pushed it to /data/local. I was able to chmod 766 there.
Runs well now. Thanks for the keyboard mappings,
Can't yet figure out "Back", "Call" and "Hang Buttons".
Long Press works on the home screen, but not on selected elements.
Also haven't yet figured out how to scroll down a list. eg. in Astro, I can't figure out how to get context popup on a file or how to scroll down to see the next page. "Page Down" and "Down Arrow" keys don't work. The mouse scroll wheel does not work either.
This server is horribly laggy, its good for the first few seconds (with RealVNC, at least) then lags to hell.
@os2baba If your running this on HTC Magic a.k.a T-mobile G1 Back is Esc, Hang is End, but im not sure what Call is
@happyface_0 I will try to compile a new version with a faster refresh rate when i get home from school
EDIT:anybody have any idea how to compile this?
