Is there a way to get rid or replace the 4-color screen that displays the ROM, Radio, etc at the beginning on the PH20B1 PDA? I've only seen 1 screen thats displaying Windows Mobile 5 asking me to tap the screen to setup the pda.
Simply enable the device password protection.
The other option is Tuatara's BootSplash program (search the forum)

hello I have upgrade to aku3.5 wm5 .
But the screen Bug on " Align screen". So I cant start the PDA.
In order to downgrade to my standard rom, on your link :http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Downgrade_WM5
it says , that we have to unload Word etc !! But i Dont understant why this should be done? Why can we just lauch the downgrade programm ?
Because as they say we must unload word and others programm , well I just can't as I can't start the Qteck9090 because it stays in "align screen" start programm.
So can I downgrade safely without doing number 3-4-5 procedure?
thanks alot for helping.
HEre is what they say

Prep your WM5 device by formating Storage and Hive.
Press Power + Softreset, and when the colored stripes (well, this is the bootscreen )shows on the screen.
If you have a PH20B device such as MDAIII, QTEK 9090, XDAIIs, PDA2K etc.
Quickly press Record+Camera before the versions appears at bottom right
OR, press Power+Softreset+Camera+Record at the same time.
If you have a PH20B1 device such as SX66
Quickly press Record+Windows Media before the versions appears at bottom right
OR, press Power+Softreset+Windows Media Player button+Record at the same time.
Either way mentioned above should work.
You'll see three options; change the second and the third to "yes".
If you have a PH20B device such as MDAIII, QTEK 9090, XDAIIs, PDA2K etc.
You can do that with the camera and the record buttons.
If you have a PH20B1 device such as SX66
You can do that with the Windows Media Player and the record buttons.
If you are done, press the mail button, it'll show a white screen for a while, just wait.
If the bootscreen, aka. the colored stripes is displayed, Wait more, you are booting.
The welcome screen to set up your device should appear soon.
Setup your device
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Stop activesync.
Right click on taskbar -> Task Manager.
End the following processes: rapimgr.exe, outlook.exe, winword.exe, wcescomm.exe, wcesmgr.exe

Hey guys,
Was wondering if theres a button you can push to activate the password lock instead of having to wait for the timer to go. Thanks!
-Anthony
hold end call for a few seconds(red phone button)
ekw,
as I mentioned in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1780468 holding the end call button just locks the keys, but/and
- "any child who can read" is able to unlock it (unlock & *)
- this way of locking doesn't ask/require a password/PIN to unlock the device
I'm using the standard HTC Rom.. maybe your's is different?
Mine: HTC TyTN II (Dutch)
R: 1.27.12.11
G: 22.45.88.07H
D: 1.56.00.00
Use htc endkey then . Holding red phone button locks mine!!(maybe i changed it a long time ago and forgot )
ekw,
does 'HTC endkey' invokes the 'enter PIN code' screen to appear or just tap 'unlock' and then 'tap here to unlock' on the screen or use '*'?
i can confirm the using "HTC Endkey" to lock the device DOES NOT invoke the pin entry screen when you have the pin/password entry enabled. The only sure fire way around this is to set the pin entry/password "prompt if device is unused for" to 0 minutes; this way whenever the display is automatically OR manually turned off (through power button or device lock (assigned to a key etc)) when the phone is woken it will always ask for the pin to be entered.

I'm "happy" that you can confirm our 'problem'
Fact is.. I've put the screen to turn off after 2 minutes of non-activity, but when I'm for instance at home, the device shouldn't lock itself with a password when the screen is turned off.
So I'm trying to find a way to be able to enable/disable the device lock by for exemple tapping an icon on the today screen or hitting an assigned key.
Briefly said.. see attached screencapture..
instead of opening that screen (settings, lock, <entering the password>) and enable/disable the option.. I want that (!) enabling/disabling to be done by hitting an assigned key which edits a registry settings..
I do think that the option which you'll see in the screencapture is being remembered in the registry.
I'm willing to find the registry key and programming a 'tool' myself which will edit the registry key.. but I must do some searching (programming for xda).
Hi,
I have a problem that I cannot get rid of the provider screen "one".
I unlocked the device -> sucessfull, it works with differend cards
flashed ROM: 3.14.00.00, Windows CE 6.1 -> OK
flashed Radio: 1.65.14.06 -> sucessfull, works
changed splash screen to earth -> works fine
changed animated.gif -> works
The only problem I have is that the device after starting with the splash screen displays the "old" provider logo (on the right lower edge you can see the ROM and Radio version) for a couple of seconds and afterwards changes to the animated.gif.
The question is: How can I get rid of this old privider logo?
many thanks for your help
Frank
That first screen you're describing is called the Splash Screen, to change simply follow Pof's instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334907
Hi,
thanks for the reply!
I changed the splash screen already, it works, if the sytem boots than I see the new splash screen but after this screen I see the ONE startscreen, followed by the animated.gif.
kind regards
Frank
I think we might be talking about the same thing, but from different points of view. When you reboot the phone:
- Firstly the splash screen appears, this is amended by the link I posted above
- After a few seconds, the ROM and Radio numbers appear in the bottom right
- The animated gif now plays (if it's enabled in the ROM you're using)
- A second splash screen appears, which is the welcomehead96 file in the Windows directory
- The phone finally displays the Today screen
Are we talking about the same screen you want to amend, or have I grabbed the wrong end of the stick here?
Hi,
the order is a little different
- Firstly the splash screen appears, this is amended by the link I posted above
YES, in my case I changed it to the earth motive it works, it shows this picture for about 2-3 seconds
- After a few seconds, the ROM and Radio numbers appear in the bottom right
YES BUT together with the ROM and radio numbers the screen changes from the splash screen before to the "ONE screen" and also shows a third number in the middle
- The animated gif now plays (if it's enabled in the ROM you're using)
YES
- A second splash screen appears, which is the welcomehead96 file in the Windows directory
YES
- The phone finally displays the Today screen
YES
Please help. For some reason I've lost the HTC splash screen on startup on my TYTN II with official 6.1 wwe rom. It isn't in tweak ( I don't think) because I have startup annimation enabled. If I do a hard reset it appears but goes away when I add all the progrems and settings with Sprite Backup.

did you flash a new rom or did you flash a new splash screen because that is the only way you will loose your splash screen. Startup animation is after splash screen so that doesn't have anything to do with splash screen.
There is already a thread on splash screens please search and post under that thread.
At one time I tried to add another splash screen using the instructions from here and it never worked. But I have the reqedit changes back to original. I don't know if this has anything to do with it. First I flashed the new 6.1 wwe rom and started adding programs (about 10 ) each time with soft reset I had the splash screen. Somewhere near the end of installing programs one of them removed splash screen. I wasn't paying attention so I don't know when it stopped. And by the way there is nothing posted about this. What is the string in the windows folder for this splash screen? I want to look and see if its still there.
there seems to be some confusion on your definition of splash screen. are you referring to
1. The first splash screen that shows when you turn on your device?
2. The animated screen or
3. the windows boot splash screen?
When I turn on my phone here is what I see 1 smart mobility 2 red numbers on bottom right (radio etc) 3. Was HTC animated, now nothing 4 WM6.1. The HTC screen before 6.1 screen is now gone. Is it a splash screen ? How do I get it back?
Hi, the Diamond returns itself to the Today Screen (with the huge clock) every time the device locks itself. I did the registry hack "AutoDeviceLockEnable" to lock itself after it goes to standby (40 sec.). This also happens when LONG pressing the right phone button.
I like to stay in my apps after switching the device off.
I have NO PASSWORD policy on the device (I know there are other articles which claim password policy is the reason)
Is this Windows 6.0/6.1 generic or a "special feature" in co with the TouchFlo interface?
Maybe someone knows a reg-key to turn that off.
Would be a great help!
Yours B.
Untick the today timeout in settings > today.
??? This setting is to return to today screen after 4 hours of usage, that doesn't help!
pushing it up, can't believe no one has an idea!?
Annoying for me too. The other day I was editing some settings, left the phone for 30s so it locked and went to the today screen which messed my TFL3D for a little while.
Anybody have a solution please?
Has this been solved yet.
As I want to put device on lock with the application in use screen still displayed
still nothing?
This is standard WM behaviour, it returns to the Today screen upon locking. In my opinion, your options are (1) use a different lock or (2) use a task manager to easily switch back to the required program.
I don't use TF3D so it's easy for me to select the required program using a simple task manager at the top of the today screen. I use DevState 1.5, configured to show just a row of big task icons. This works really well in combination with SPB Pocket Plus, like so:
