Using 8125 w/ 2.16.9.1 WWE - Better ROM to flash?

I currently have an 8125 that was flashed with the imate 2.16.9.1 WWE ROM.
I was just wondering if any of the newer ROMs out there would be worth upgrading to?
I dont need any customazations like fonts or ringers. Just maybe an AKU2 rom (ms push); wich most are now anyways.
Im just looking for speed; and maybe a better radio version.
My computer crashed a while back so ive been out of whats hot/not in the ROMs lately.
Any suggestions about newer roms that would be faster/better would be great.
Oh btw, i guess to prevent installation of the EXT rom you just soft reset before it loads?
Thanks.
BTW - ive done alot of post reading but still havent found a good topic on current roms and whats good/bad about them.
Bump- it would be nice if after 22 views that someone had something to say positive.
Thanks.

yeah, thas correct. you hit up the softrest right before it starts customizing, when it pops up that message box.
im using the latest official qtek rom, and it's stellar. definitely ran into the unreliable alarm bug for the first time, but as i understand it, thats not a single-rom issue, but rather is universal.
i say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. the only change i could suggest is going to qtek 208 test, which is a mite slower but supports bluetoof a2dp.

8125 users, we'll have an AKU2.2 ROM by....

friday evening. I've obtained the necessary bits from <anonymous> and am testing some builds out now. I might even have something to upload tomorrow evening.
tick tick tock, the clock is back.
ps. This is the same OS build that was posted in the teaser thread.
OS 5.1.195 (Build 14928.2.2.0)
nice, looking forward to it!
Sweet. counting down
Once again summiter you're the bomb!
Steven
Thanks summiter
Does it have any BT stack changes? Is there anyway to post what the changes, improvements feature fixing are?
Thanks
Good luck testing!
i just hope that my wifi will work with the new rom, like it used to on the old cingular rom.

Assuming same stupid problem with the no vibe in standbay??
thank you summiter for your work
I know it's a Cingular rom, but can someone post a generic unbranded version of it? or do I need to wait for the manufacturers(Dopod, QTek, etc..) for that?
Lol... I just upgraded to your latest and greatest earlier this week. Still, looking forward to the new release. Hope it includes some nice improvements. Cheers bro!
I can't wait to see what you can do with this rom, I loved your previous customs and know good things are coming.
damn that anonymous, he's always up to no good. can't wait for this rom .
a most eagerly awaited ROM
summiter,
have you decided what customisations you will bundle in (or indeed remove)?
mick.
Oh, and BTW a big thank you to <anonymous>, whoever you are
Please a plain Vanilla Version...
I love the customizations but I think many would appreciate a plain vanilla version also.
I remove Cyberon Voice Dialer (using MS Voice Command instead)
I also don't install Smart Dialer as I prefer the ETEN Dialer.
Infact, I'm currently using NO Offical Cingular Cabs on my phone!
It would be great to have the Dot Net CF 2 included in this ROM and the NoCert fix for unsigned cabs. Maybe even adobe Acrobat Reader.
When it comes to things like "Real close on click X" there are so many good ones and we each have our preference that it just muddies the water when you include them. (I use HandySwitcher from Dinarsoft, good deal for $5).
As for things like Smartskeys and Omap Overclocker, the versions are bound to change so it would be better to leave them out as well... Until the Ext_ROM can be truely unlocked on 2.x ROMS.
Thanks for listening.

Ugh - Stupid Microsoft...
Oh well...
So the real question is...
If I've already flashed my device with your 2.17 ROM, what do you think the benefits will be of switching to this new masterpiece you're working on?

in 12-15 hours from riiiight abooout now.
I meed to work out some oddities with the reported rom versions and look through the cab files that came with this thing.
as far as benefits, in its bare state it feels more responsive. and then there's the clock back on top thing which is important to some folks. more details coming soon.
thanks <anonymous> and summiter!
cant wait to try this out

helmi 1.3.2 rom

Hi,
I know that ROM images are not hosted on this website no more because of ms, but I'd like to know where I can get the helmi 1.3.2 rom image.
I'd like this image because I had this rom before and I pretty much like all of it and would like to switch back to this.
If someone has this and or more roms please let me know.
thanks
Yeah.. it's a biatch trying to find the roms now that MS have stuck their nose in.
Did helmi get around to releasing his 1.5? (edit.. hmmm... still seems to be 1.4 b... further optimising, keep it up helmi, if I ever ug to wm5 it'll certainly be your rom I'll use.)

maybe [ this help?]
i took it from here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Helmi
Unfortunately it's not there any more.
The xda devs had to remove their rom library from the server.
So we're all kinda playing hide and seek with the roms.
well, we can grab the name that was used there, and try to find on emule
Well so far I've found this.
http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1053302/?show_files=1&page=1&ref=1178474295#file_list
(Confirmed.. It has Helmi's 1.4 and xplode beta r1 plus a WHOLE lot more. )
And helmi's 1.4 on it's own.
http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1042770/3099382/
great, nothing is lost for ever
Many people made mirror of XDA FTP server. In any case I keep copy for my own use, if anybody need any ROMs (not only BA).
That's really good to know.. if I need something I'll pm you (if you don't mind. )
One question though... what's the latest most stable and functional wm2003se rom that you have (Xda IIs).
Thx.
for me WM2003 cannot be called stable, especially compared to wm5 for BA. Last wm2003 I used was one of the v1.40 from Imate and it was acceptable, but still ANY WM5 was much more stable.

WM 2005 versus WM 2003

hello everyone!
since two weeks, i am theproud owner of my first pocket pc, a HTC Blue Angel!
i am now running wm2003, but after reading all those posts about upgrading, i am starting to think about doing so myself! but why should i do this?
what are the big advatages of wm2005 compared to wm2003?
are there disadvantages as well? (regarding stability and bugs?)
i would be really glad if yome of the more experienced ba users here could write down their pros & cons for running WM5/WM3 on the BA!
btw: i read thru xplode's upgrading guide (Guide.pdf) and in the end ("side notes") it says, that i could totally screw my ba when i exceed free sectors of the rom while cooking.... what excactly does this mean? and how can i avoid exceeding free sectors?
I am really looking forward to read your opinions about the two os...
THX IN ADVANCE!
krztf
I would definately go for wm5
main reason is the different memory handling
(no more lose of data after battery runs down)
Just download one of the ready made roms versions.
(as I understand, you are not ready to cook your own rom)
and be sure to read the wiki first
(and this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=243732 )
happy flashing
Wout
I could tell you this, my biggest reason to flash my BA to Wm05 because it has a better UI. N my 2nd biggest reason is because a lot of new programs written for wm05
Anyway if you afraid to brick your BA, I suggest you read carefully the wiki n don't use kitchen Rom, just use another rom that already cook by someone else. You could use Rom made by baniaczek or xplode.
I hoped it helps.
Well how should i say... i dont believe anyone here is still using 2003. Would this be enough for you? Try it, if you dont like it, downgrade back to 2003.
WM5 on Blue Angel is nice. But xplode rom and baniaczek rom are not really stable at the moment.
Tried both rom both got different problems... so I recommend you to wait for final release WM5 rom for BA thats free of bug.(Would it happen?)
Else if you wanted to try, you can try upgrading it... its really nice
Main reason is 60mb free ram..
and no more memory lost after battery going down
aha
thanks for all those answers!!!
but to be honest, i am still not sure if i should upgrade or not....
all those postings (here an din other threads) regarding pda overall speed, bluetooth and wifi problems, etc. make me kinda nervous! and i think, i am still anxious about frying my blue angel,... noobish but what can i do!
regarding the advantage of more free ram and no memory loss after battery's empty: is this really true?! always thought, i would need certain hardware as well, to benefit from this features...?
hope this discussion keeps goin'...
regards,krz

I'm using 2003se (rollback wm5->2003), because found some strange problems with baniachek's wm5 bluetooth profiles. ...
all the gory details ....
hi dasboot!
could you please describe those "strange problems"?
btw: does anyone know, if connecting to wlan routers works better with wm2005? as u can read in my other thread HERE, i have serious issues to solve here...
keep on posting!
krz
im rollbacked too.WM5 is nice looking..but for BA useless.
i found that WM3 work much better on it-and more important-the battery time:
wm5=max 8 hours,with mp3 6h
wm3=up to 16h with mp3.normal use 24/36h (older BA )
i use wlan only sometimes on hotspots-and only for e-mails.not a important criteria for me.
but, damn it..i would try out WM6 on it.suddenly it is unable to convert it to BA.
WM5 is not a software, it is one huge BAG!
wm5 is really good and I won't come back to wm2003. I have the R2 by baniaczeck and it works to me like a charm! I advice you to upgrade to wm5

Dutty's WM6.5 Leo R7 released

for those interested:
http://htcpedia.com/duttys_hd_wm_leo_r_a84d4f9b45686b963/soft/htc-blackstone-rom.html?page=1
downloading seems a bit broken atm, but i have faith it'll sort itself out!!
download works... i'm testing R7 now
anyone can test if bluetooth headset controls (play, stop, next, ecc) works with Music TAB (Manila) ????
As much as I like Throys roms, I see its on an older build. My personal preference is the latest builds 23xxx with start and soft keys at bottom. Obviously I'm still going to test rom

sorry - i mis-understood!
i've finally got a download slot so downloading and flashing now!
im not sure if it's dutty, or the release builds - dutty is about the only roms i've found fast enough to be 'acceptible' in performance terms. tempted to go and try the latest miri rom to compare....
i've always fround miri roms to be more feature-filled, but dutty to be more bug-free and speedy!
nice rom...
good application but i prefer the big icon down as os up 2308x
could u cook a rom with newer kernel?
Twitter doesn't work out of the box...
1) Won't sign in first time over 3G. You need to setup wifi.
2) Doesn't refresh unless a connection is already established.
Ooo iv not used many of duttys roms but i think i will give this one a try

Couldn't agree with you more my friend. I loved Dutty's Roms but haven't used them for quite some time. As soon as he begins using the 23xxx version of WM, I'll be the first one to download and test

Okay, this looks like its related to T-Mobile UK's Internet Proxy that gets setup in the connections settings. If I uncheck that and try again it works.

I think with Dutty having a new toy to play with he may not be concentrating enough on the latest builds available for the HD, still its a good rom as always!!
Now Dutty is not posting anymore overhere can you close this thread=
Hi bro,
I have a small question?
Why threads like this aren't closed as Dutty doesn't introduce roms at XDA anymore, so what's the reason?
Do these threads have any benefit to XDA?
Grtz,
