Hey ive been lookin on this site for a long time and have been trying to update my rom for my wizard for at least 3 days. I really need your guys help. I have a mac and a pc and my pc is runnin xp and im runnin AS on my mac under virtual pc with windows xp pro. When i try to install AS on my pc i get an error saying windows installer cannot me accessed and i cant get it to install no matter what i do. So now ive been focused on the mac. I got it installed on my mac an runnin but i got another problem. When i usb my wizard it will not recognize it unless i run usbswitch which is not a big deal till i try to update the rom. I get through the unlocker but when i get to the rom itself it tuns the wizard off an on then gets the red, blue etc screen but does not recognize the wizard is hooked up usb i guess cause usbswitch is not runnin. so my problm is what do i do to fix this delma. Maybe this has already been adressed but i havent been able to find it on this forum yet so i apologize if it was already posted. I tried updating to 4.2 beta for AS but it did nothing. I appreciate any help. Thank you.
ps. i have a tmobile mda runnin out of the box roms, so i guess its 1.8 or sumthin, maybe 1.2 i dunno w/e it is

i posted this else where in this forum as i thought this wouldnt be the right place at the time and maybe still isnt.. but i wanted to see if anyone has found a fix for this..
microsofts new OS - VISTA (BETA)does not like the boatloaders i have to break out my work laptop to install my rom updates.. I can load application via the new sync mgr. but whne it comes to upgrading / downgrading rom NADA !
anyone else out there beta testing vista .. ?or maybe know why ? i am not ewven sure where the heck to look .. I dont think it recognizes the USB for some odd reason in the bootloader app.
im runnin Vista and i had no problems at all..
HI to all, i'm a newbie here and this is my first time to write and ask for help here. I been read the entire forum to get all info about the wizard phone and i really like this forum here. Give me alot of info about my phone, so i hope all people here can read first before ask question.
After a long search here, i still can't find my answer so i hope someone can help me. I just install the windows vista rc1 and hack the windows mobile based device working for it and i can sync everything and install software to mobile but when i try to upgrade my rom it won't work??? it say usb not connected but its connected at all. Anyone have any idea my happen here?

If you use RegEdit to add a key called "WHOS" under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft key in the registry, connect your Windows Mobile 5.0 device and go to Windows Update, a new 7.0MB update will be available that enables Windows Mobile Device Center. This should let you do the update.
I done it already, like im say i can run the windows mobile based device with no problem for sync with my phone but when i try to upgrade the rom, the rom program will say error no usb connection. hope this will make it clear. thanks for ur help.

nope,works fine with me. i have asus p4pe-deluxe MB with usb 2.0 and a usb cable from canon.

hi there, i tried upgrading my 02 xda executive from the software update on O2 website.my active sync 4.1 stopped working in midst and my xda is nt working now.and my pc isnt recognising the xda. the xda isnt starting up its completely dead.I tried hitting the 2 softkeys and the soft reset button and the screen lights up and it says to rollback to factory setting hit 0 zero, but nothing happens................plz help would be appreciated.http://www.my-xda.com/xdaExecSoftware.jsp
also the screen now has USB and v1.00 over it and shows nothing but this and not starting up and my pc pops a message up saying that an unknown usb device and cant be connected
at buddy28, try to reflash it with atleast latest AKU 2.* for universal,just click ur softreset button so that the bootloader will appear again then flash with new rom(be careful though if ur not PRO)
For ArtTX, im now using the Asus Barebone T2-p computer and i have try with another computer with windows vista rc1, it also don't working. It is possible because i'm using vista rc1 not vista beta2?
I'm using Vista RC1 and I cant flash my Wizard too
hmmm.... seem like all the rom upgrade doesn't support vista RC1....thats too bad. Oh well have to switch back to windows xp.
When I run the wizard update for rom or radio or anything it says one of two things on my pc, 1. that there is a connection error and or 2. That the program needs to close because it says so. Im sure there is a simple fix to this issue but i just dont know it.

I think I know why
After reading through the posts I discovered why I am having so much trouble. Reason being last week I upgraded to Vista, which would explain alot.
Anyone know a way arround this problem?

Downgrade to XP...
There are lots of issues with the rom updater and Vista. Unfortunately until a new version of the rom update utility comes out (or some other new method) its going to be an issue.
Not only RUU, WMDC itself sometimes get problems in Vista.
When I connect the Wizard to PC, sometimes WMDC does not show up, and the PPC is not present in My Computer, and you will see a yello exclamation in device manager!
The only thing I can do is to remove the device complete from device manager and let it detects again, then I can use it again for several times.
Hey Guys i would need some help here i downloaded the Helmi upgrade rom but didnt seem to work. i get the device connection error before it even starts

as u can c this is the one from the Imate website when i attempted to install it. it actually didnt give me a connection error and started to install but when the PDA rebooted i got that connection error back and now i am stuck at the bootloader screen with SERIAL written at the top and V. 2.06 at the bottom tried to soft and hard reset but nothing seems to happen i even disconnected the battery for 30 minutes but couldnt get it to boot

Do you have an error number?
I run windows Vista and the error number i get is 101 Connection error when i attempt to run BaUpgradeUT
on the PDA the only screen i fet is the bootloader screen with SERIAL and V.2.06
Ok, the problem in flashing our precious BA under vista is that you need to replace the usb driver with an old version so the updater will work correctly.
Search the forums for vista update or vista flash and you will get the answer and the driver you need.

i got a XDA 2 I otherwise known as ,PH10A its not turning on so i cant install rom on phone.taken cmos battery out stil no joy,,please can anyone help me out i put it in the crradle and it does charge up.and on the screen it says USB V 1.02 and thats all and wont do nothing else ..pc wont reconise the phone..i badly need help anyone got any ideas ..
The bootloader message USB V 1.02 does mean that it is in healthy bootloader mode and that it does find a healthy USB connection as well. Activesync will not be able to communicate with it the way it would do if Windows Mobile would have been loaded on your XDA. But the normal ROM flash utilities should be able to access it. Be sure to use ActiveSync version 4.5 to flash WM6, be sure to use a PC running Windows XP, not Vista, be sure to read flashing instructions very carefully, print them and keep them handy during the flashing process. Flashing can take over 30 minutes, be patient!

Hi Maggie. Phone Is In The Cradle I Got Active Sync 4.5 And Running It On Xp.it Dosnt Detect The Phone At All.on The Phones Screeen Its Says Usb V1.02 As Iv Mentioned Befor.cant Seem To Flash The Phone ..but It Does Charge Up In The Cradle.but Nothing Else Can U Suggest Anything Else ....thanx

They come with the HimaUpgradeNoID utility to flash the ROM, it's built into the Tofclock .exe
