Hey folks, I have used the instructions in the WIKI to upgrade my SX66 to the Wizard rom... I had done it with the first WM5 rom available it it seemed pretty stable, a few things didn't work so I decided to go with the Wizard rom.
Since I have done that, I have not used WIFI or Bluetooth, but my battery is draining as if I have both of them running. I can barely make it through a day on a single charge. With WM2003SE and WM5 I had on it before I could make it 2 days on one charge.... I have been doing a decent amount of downloading over GPRS, but no more than I have ever done.
Is there a fix for this, does anyone have any Ideas yet? Anyone else experience the same problem?
Weird. On my Qtek 9090 I have the opposite experience: I have used the unit normally all weekend without charging it since Friday, and I have never been able to do that before, not even on the WM2003 that it came with!
I have double checked, My data rates have gone up substantialy. I think it may have to do with my using FeederReader after upgrading to the Wizard Rom. That is the reason why I upgraded to the wizard rom, because the WM5 Rom I was using there were problems with the CompactFramework .net. It has been connecting every hour and downloading a few meg each time. I'm glad I pay for unlimited data.
my battery is much longer lasting in the wizard rom than anything else. anc inot using it any less.I do have backlight on low tho, but always have.
Hi
i installed the new rom
RUU_Prodigy_2170702_21707102_20710_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe
ok and it seems fine other then one thing
dont know why but i m noticing that there is a lot of battery being used
so i need advice or fix or something that will be helpful for me to stop this draining of the battery without any reason before the install of this rom my phone never used to eat this much of battery
Can some please help
I have a Tmobile MDA (USA)
I think I know what's happening. One of the cabs in the extended ROM is responsible; perhaps the AKU 2.0 (push email). I've installed the extended rom unlock tool on the ftp and installed only the cabs that I need from the extended rom. If it's one of those, I'll post back and let you know. I do not use push email, so the AKU 2.0 ROM is not one of them.
Anyone else?
Sure thanks alot
and please when u will tell me can you tell me the details of how to go about making changes so that i can do to help my mda`s battery life coz i new to all this rom and stuff
Thanks a million
After playing with this thing this afternoon...I've come to the conclusion that when you do a soft reset while the device is plugged in, the battery shows up 100% charged. It rapidly declines to the actual level and then slows down its discharge to acceptable levels. The best way to get an actual reading is to turn off the device using the software reset (hold down the power button until the device gives the option to power off) and then put it on the charger for a few hours. I think that actually gives it a full charge and you'll be set. The new battery driver (along with that bloody battery icon in the today bar) is not the best thing is it?
hey i will surely try this and once i m done doing it
i will get back to you with the results
Thanks for all your help buddy
Yes, great, that other peoples noticed this thing too...
After installing some file from the ex_rom, my battery doesn´t show the right position...
I made the updates a few days before and the problem surely came with one of this ne cab-files...
Any possibility to remove this files, cause i don´t need AKU2, yet....
Thanks a lot...
*****EDIT*****
I removed the Tool Batti from the system...
seems to work much better now....
Hi to all,
I, among some others am experiencing battery drain since upgrading to WM6 even though I am running under the same circumstances as before the upgrade with just a few less programs running etc. If anyone can shed any light on a fix for this or suggestions (turning off bluetooth has no great effect) then I would gladly like to hear them.
I know Malik is also experiencing the problem so I know I am not alone.
Thanks.
I am experiencing the exactly the same great battery usage rates between faria, super rom, and wm6. All overclocked at 260.

when u overlock a device it drains the battery much much faster then u expect so to help that don't overlock but if u overlock then the battery goes mad because overlocking takes great deal of amount out to make the device faster.

I overclocked to 264 (omap) / 286 (bs) MHz without issues. It seems the cpu drains the batt a lot only during "heavy" task execution, e.g. playing a game or watching a movie that is not adapted to qvga. Most of time it just sleeping, as before.
So, i flashed wm6 (pdaviet v.3) and have noticed the same or even less battery drain as before (when my wizard is left alone). You have to check all you're installed to fugure out "the swine"

i have it overclocked to 299 with batterystatus, and no battery drain... the OS isntalled is pdaviet v2 ...
If anything, I've found WM6 to be *better* on battery life than any of the previous WM5 AKUs.
AKU 3.3 would be the best in the WM5 range.
I've also found that the battery life on my device has dramatically increased. I don't have to charge it now for about an extra two days compared to before.
This has been an issue with me as well. I'm running the clean Crossbow ROM (aka Orwells1984 et.al.) Here are the programs I have been running:
2.19 radio rom
Resco Med. Suite 5.42
Pocket Weather
Sprite Backup
Smartskey
Omapclock @ 240mhz
CE Star
I had issues with the today plugin from Resco cutting down my battery life on the old iPAQ 6365. Haven't had ANY problems with previous AKU 3.x versions.
If you're using omapclockplus your device is at normal speeds during standby. I think its the crossbow radio that drains it. Switching between OSs might not change your rom, leaving the battery drain

CB does not come with radio. CB is only OS updated.

maybe it really is the radio... i moved to 2.17 and since then no battery problems, but im not for sure its that, but possibly since i have same apps installed on fresh WM6 as before when i had battery probs.
Well, I finally did a hard reset and lo and behold the battery drain problem is gone. I had it off the charger for most of the day and kept the WiFi on a bit as well. The ROM on which I really noticed the problem was the Pdaviet3. I'm going to reinstall the Resco Today plugin and see if that does anything. I love this ROM. Clean and fast!
try disconnect "Error reporting". It's on by default.

Weird.. I did this last night too and it seems to have cured the problem...
Anyway I still have the automatic power up issue... Is there a solution other than locking the device? i.e. A registry edit to turn off push email?
I think the battery drain problem MAY have been solved by the hard reset as well.
Tomorrow will be my second day of use since hard reset so I will report my findings.
I remember (when I had Motorola MP220) advice for longer battery life: device should be 100% charged when flashing new ROM. If not, charge it 100% and do the hard reset.
BTW, I had battery drain with Pdaviet ROM v3, 'cose the smatskey was set for overclocking by default.
i own a xda mini s with crossbow (orwells ROM and Radio 1.19), i use direct push and don't have any battery problem.
Had the same problem: batter drained 2 or 3 times as fast as regularly.
Used:
- TomTom6
- SPB Weather
- PocketPC Wakeup
- Resco todayplugin
- Todaytime
Just did a hard reset and reinstalled TomTom & SPB weather.
Everything ran fine, til I installed PocketPC Wakeup.CAB...
So that one might be the problem....
Anyone else tested their software for batterydraining problems?
batterystatus might also be a problem.
I hard reset, did not install batterystatus but installed rest of my normal apps; this solved both my wakeup issues and battery drain issues.
P.S. simply uninstalling batterystatus did nothing, had to reset.
No batterystatus is not the cause because the first time when I had the issue was without batterystatus ever being installed. The problem hasn't really been back even though I now have it installed.
can any body kind enough to tell that the battery problem that wm6 xda2 shuts down at 40% battery also exist in wm2003se?, i want to go back to wm2003se, can anybody here tells me the difeerence between wm2003se and wm6.thanks bye

There is a thread here in the hima wm6 board about battery problems.
WM6 is not the problem, bad batteries are.
Had the same problem earlier. A change of battery had solved it.
is this problem solved????
is it the new battery the solution?
i have the same problem, xda shuts down at 50% battery status..
tnx
Maggy is right

Try #search this forum# in the Hima WM6 board with 'Battery problems'.
It´s a well known problem.
Then try search function to find 'batti-2.1(-de).ARM.cab' or the working version for your device if you don't use a Hima and give it a try.
Your battery won't work better, but you can see the bat level (with percent indicators, if you want) nearly anytime and you can be warned early enough optical by color change or with acoustic alarm.
Whatever you do: Think of a new battery soon. It´s the best you can do for your amazing device.
Good luck

WM2003--WM2k3SE--WM5--WM6--WM6.1--WM7?
Hi all,
I have installed the WM6.1 ROM 6.1.2a16CS by C. Shekhar on my qtek2020.
It is very cool and gave a second life to my qtek. I am just a bit surprised by the duration of the main battery. It is running out of bat very fast.
As I haven't used my qtek for month before installing the new ROM, I can't tell if it's a battery problem or because this new ROM is consuming more resources. Have you noticed such behavior on your machines?
For further info I am not using my qtek as cell phone. I am thinking about using it back as a phone, but I have first to fix this battery aspect.
Moreover I have read s/t about a battery fix, that I haven't installed yet. Can s/o tell me more about this fix and what it is doing?
Anyway this ROM is a great one.
Thx for your answers
Marc
I dont know about the battery fix but i have never installed any sort of fix like that either for wm5 or wm6.x. Are you sure there isnt some background process that keeps on continuously running? It could be a battery problem if the battery had discharged alot during the non-operational period. I changed by himas battery about 7-8months back because the last battery had gotten abit too old and was discharging very quickly.
i think you are talking about SD card fix..its a registery fix that makes the battery consumption by SD-card low
well, WM5 and WM6.x IMHO are battery consuming ROMs, i can attest to this,
experiment no. 1:
same xda, same battery (1200mAH original battery)
-with WM2003SE at normal use, XDA turns off approx after 36 hrs of use including standby.
-with WM5 and WM6.x, XDA turns off WM5-18hrs, WM6.x-25hrs of use including standby.
experiment no. 2:
two xda, different OS, both with brand new 3600mAH extended life battery.
in 1 day (at heavy texting use from 7am to 7pm):
WM2003SE XDA2 - battery from 100% to 58%
WM6.X XDA2 - battery from 100% to 35%
possible explanation:
WM6.x (WM5) uses more CPU time and Memory resources, plus it probably uses more power in maintaining the persistent storage, hard and soft reset persistent memory.

Ather, is this fix already in all/most recent releases? If not, can you give us a link? Never heard of it.
I have no battery problems, quite the contrary. My battery life is amazing me. To be honest I tweaked a lot when I started using WM6.x, too much to remember, too much to tell you.
but some parts:
I don't need 24/7 phone connection, Phone Alarm takes care of this for me
Use a bare minimum of today plug-ins
Avoid animations
Close programs except when you seriously do need them in the background
Heya Maggy...its long time since i saw u here.. think maybe month
welcome back ny ways
well that fix was in the Imate website..i have it
