Hello....just downloaded xelencin 2.24 ROM couple of days ago and ran into a problem with my calendar. All my appointments seemed to have shifted one hour earlier!! :x I've already enabled my time zones in the settings menu...what else is there to do?
disable the auto time zone ... it'll will solve the one hour problem ... but I had other calendar problems with this ROM, see page 3,4 on this thread:

Well documented problem (especially with Cingular) where the network towers are reporting the wrong timezone.
DIsable Network Time Sync and then change the timezone to your correct TZ.
Thanx a bunch!!! Once I disabled the time zones..and went back into setting my clock back at the right time...NO MORE PROBLEMS with my calendar and appointments
How do you disable the auto Network timezone?
How do you disable the auto Network timezone?
settings: phone: time zone
uncheck the box
I'm on T-Mobile in Colorado and it keeps changing me to AZ time zone when I have the box checked. Maybe I'll call Tmo and complain...it would be nice if they fixed it.
sorry for the double post
I am in Denver CO in the US also, I just unchecked the box and reset my phone the timezone stayed WOOT thanks guys.

The time zone keeps changing. I using the 2.3 ROM. I keep resetting it and it resets itself. My Today screen shows appointments off by an hour (I am in the Eastern time zone) but when you select the appointment the calendar shows the correct time. Madding.
What is going on that allows the time zone to revert to Indiana?
It's the new feature of Auto-timezone setting. Just uncheck it. It always default to Indiana after reboot. If your time zone keep changing, it's likely one of the cell tower near you has incorrect time zone setting.
Do a search on automatic time zone update.
Cingular doesn't know how to set the time zone properly on its towers.
It's a known issue.
If you had searched you would have found the answer because it's been answered about 1000X times already. It's a known issue that some towers broadcast the wrong time zone.
Go to start > settings > phone > time zones tab and disable the "auto update time zone & date" function.
Your device will sync with your PC's clock at next sync anyway.
Thank you very much including the scolding. I've spent alot of time scouring this forum and others and never saw that was an issue. Thanks again.
I am running the stock AT&T Tilt, without any of the bloatware (having hit soft reset and aborting the installation of the extra CABS).
While I didn't think we needed to run the Microsoft DST fix, I found that phone is not reporting the correct time vis-a-vis OggSync, as I try to sync with my google calendar.
When I applied the DST fix, and then did the additional steps - go into Clock, set to a DIFFERENT time zone, close out of Clock, say OK to knowing that it will change appt times, etc. Returning to today screen. Giving the system a moment to adjust to new time zone. Go back into Clock, set to CORRECT time zone, close out of Clock, say OK to knowing that it will change appt times, etc. Returning to today screen, and letting system readjust to correct time. Then, DST is set and OggSync reports that the DST registry setting is correct.
Here is the problem: Each time I soft re-set, it loses the DST registry setting reading. I have to go back to the Clock and do the hocus-pocus changing of time zones to get it to read correctly.
I can't be the only one having this problem, can I? Can anyone suggest what I may be missing? Is there something that ATT added in one of the CABS that fixes this that I may be missing?
Please, if you can, wise gurus....HELP!!!
You might try turning off the Automatic Time Zone detection, which is under Settings > Phone > Time Zone. See if that fixes it.
According to MS, WM6 doesn't need the DST patch. Both my phones, 8525 & Tilt changed times without the patch.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/daylightsaving/default.mspx
You might need to install the DST patch on your PC, not your Tilt.
On this link you will find the patch for your PC:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx
Thanks all for the replies.
I am not using a PC, so this isn't coming from that area.
My Tilt IS reporting the correct time and made the adjustment at 2 am on last Sunday.
The issue is that when OggSync (which is used to sync with Google Calendar) READS the registry settings for the time zone, they aren't there (or something like that, I think). The same issue happens when using SyncMyCal, another way of syncing with Google Calendar.
Is ANYONE syncing successfully directly with Google Calendar and has solved this problem? Or anyone else discovering issues?
It is weird. The phone is fine (time zone wise), but now its not just a soft reset. It seems that each time I open OggSync, I have to go through the little change-timezone-dance.
Any other thoughts?

Thank you very much for this tip! I never would have thought to look there for the problem I was experiencing, but UNCHECKING the Automatic Time Zone detection as you suggested solved the problem for me. I was this close <holds fingers pretty close together> to hard-resetting my PDA to attempt to combat the issue, and your suggestion saved me!
Thanks again.
I have noticed the following time related problem with my AT&T tilt. Yesterday, it was showing incorrect system time: approximately 2 hours 20 min off. I then synchronized it with my PC via active sync. Today it was 5 min off (compared to the same PC), which is too much for one day. I have searched the Internet to see if anybody has experienced a similar problem and could find only that similar things happen when you “lock” the phone – which I don’t do.
Does anyone know why this might happen and how to fix it? I am not sure if it is a software or a hardware problem, as I have installed some software on the phone.
Also, I was thinking to find a program that would run in the background and once in a while, say every 4 hours, would automatically sync time with the network time (I’d rather not use programs that sync time via internet) – could somebody provide a link to something like that?
i noticed the same thing. maybe its a problem with the network because don't these phones sync times to att? anyway i just changed it and it syncs with the time on my comp.

I have the same problem. What did you change? My TyTN II displays the wrong time, is there a setting to have the clock synched by GPS? Thanks!
There is an option in the Phone setting to sync the time from network, that fixes the whole problem of moving betweeen time zones and everything. Keeps my time accurate.

Thanks! That's the setting I had to DISABLE to keep my time accurate. The time on the network I'm on is off by 7 minutes, and that was driving me crazy.
weird thing happened to me today. the time at the top randomly changed from digital to analog! now i cant figure out how to change it back. i did a soft reset but it stayed the same. how do i change it back to the digital display? thanks.
edit: figured it out
Google calendar seems to have the wrong time zone for my events.
I searched this forum for "time zone" and didn't see anything relevant.
I am located in Boston. I just double-checked my settings on the google maps website and confirmed that my time zone is set to Eastern Time (GMT-5).
On my G1, I went into the date/time settings and confirmed that it is on automatic. Presumably the towers in the Boston area know that they're in the Eastern time zone.
However, when I go to the calendar app on the phone and bring up an event, it has the right "time" (that is, if I set it for 7-8pm Eastern on the website, it shows up as 7-8 on the phone, not shifted) -- but it says the time zone is "America/Detroit" (which would be central time or GMT-6.
So what the heck is going on here? How can I fix it?
Thanks
EDIT: I just discovered that if I uncheck automatic and manually choose "Eastern" it shows up as GMT-4, not GMT-5. Wait a minute, now I see what is going on. The time change was last weekend. Is it REALLY possible that Google's servers don't know that Eastern is now GMT-4 since we "sprang forward" last week? It's been a while since the daylight saving date changed.
I hope for google's sake that they know about the time change... It could be a bug, my phone hasn't had any problems, I'm from ny. I think if u have it set to automatic time that shuld be updated by ur provider n not google,
thanks!

Hi!
Thanks for posting! I had this same problem over here in Portugal. After mannually setting the timezone it's fine again.
Kudos!
min says America/Detroit also... i wish it didn't... but it doesn't bother me i guess.
I can't tell when it started happening, but my N1 has been showing the wrong time for a couple of weeks now, in that time I've been abroad to Spain & upgraded to Cyanogenmod 5.0.6 which has caused a time zone change and an OS upgrade, it still shows 2 mins slow.
I have set it to pick up the time from the network operator, O2, I can't believe that they don't have accurate time.
I don't really want to have to set the time manually, anyone got any ideas ?
Believe it or not, I have exactly the same problem.
I noticed it because we used to have our alarm clock ringing at the same time with my girlfriend, and I am now 2 or 3 min behind.
Weird!
Just found and tried this, works well. (fixed my 1.6 second difference)
http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/ntp-client-root-only_goiu.html
I had to change the ntp server to:
pool.ntp.org (same port 123)
This works but doesnt set your time, but has a nice gui.

The time should automatically be set by using the network carrier's clock. This was the default for me - Did your setting get unset?
Settings -> Date & Time -> Automatic (network provided values)

No, it was still set to get the time from the network, but was 2 mins slow, consistently.

I will check out the NTP client, but it doesn't explain why the time coming from the network is 2 mins slow, that is just odd.
I am in T-Mobile, not O2
