I'd like to format my tab completly, because my internal memory is a little bit confusioned with more directory and file... I tried a wipe data/factory reset from recovery, but dirs and file remained... What way should I follow???
Will purchased apps remain free after format? Or will I pay another time for them?
I think I rooted my tab, because I used titanium backup to copy settings apps...
I solved... I followed this instruction:
1. press the Menu key
2. select Settings
3. scroll to and select Privacy
4. scroll to and select Factory Data Reset
5. select Reset Phone
6. select Erase Everything
Then I reinstalled all purchased apps...:good:

It's 100% wipe datas ? ... But how to backup datas and restore all my apps
Lots of people have bluescreen problem with CWM6 but someone doesn't know that the recovery is working except the bluescreen problem.
So you can do everything with this recovery despite the bluescreen. In fact if you use volume buttons and home buttons you can flash, wipe, reboot, etc.
But the problem is: how can I do it if I can't see what I'm doing?
Now,after some reboots, I had CWM6 without bluescreen one time so I wrote each menu entry and so I'm sharing it with you:
Main menu:
reboot system
install zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup and restore
mounts and storage
advanced
Install zip submenu:
choose zip from sdcard
choose zip from last install folder
install zip from sideload
toggle signature verification
Wipe data/factory reset submenu:
no
yes
Wipe cache partition submenu:
no
yes
Backup and restore submenu:
backup to sdcard
restore from sdcard
delete from sdcard
advanced restore from sdcard
free unused backup data
choose default backup format
Advanced submenu:
reboot recovery
reboot to bootloader
power off
wipe dalvik cache
report error
key test
show log
Now the problem is how to flash a new rom? you can use CWM Manager or you can use CWM directly.
For example if you want to flash CM11-COOPER.zip via CWM, and not with the CWM manager app,you should:
-put the rom in the sdcard
-rename the rom zzCM11-COOPER.zip so it will appear at the end of the list
-reboot in cwm
- vol down -> home button -> home button -> vol up -> home button -> vol down -> home button
- wait some minutes for flashing
- press back button some times (just to be sure you came back to the main menu)
- press home button (reboot system)
If you want to wipe cache you should:
- boot in cwm
- vol down -> vol down -> vol down -> home button -> vol down -> home button
If you want to wipe dalvik cache you should:
-boot in cwm
- vol up -> home -> vol down -> vol down -> vol down -> home button -> vol down -> home button
P.S: I noticed that CWM6 is slower than CWM5 so you must do each step slowly to be sure everything works well.
P.S.2: sorry for my english!
finding ways against all odds! evil trick.
ty men its really helped just did it and i have kit kat on xd i didnt wipe beacuse i had cm 10.1 so i didnt need to wipe at all so just put the room and start to install after 2minits i did rebot and that all
ty
Thank you!
Thank you so much! I was stuck on this blue screen issue, and your menu list helped me get the latest kitkat rom on my samsung ace. First I did a factory reset following your menu, but i didn't know how to return to the begining after it completed it. So I just pulled out the battery and powered back into the blue screen to do the cache wipe, pulled the battery again once I felt the process should be done. Then I restrted back to the blue screen and followed youf steps to put the rom on the phone. I left it for maybe 20 minutes, because i didn't know how long it would take for it to complete. Pulled out the battery again, started the phone normally, and now I have kitkat.
Thanks again for posting the menu.Couldn't have done this without it!
and format/system????

Master reset
Master reset from settings menu
A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.
To perform a master reset, follow these steps:
Back up all data on the internal memory.
From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
Tap System settings.
If necessary, tap the Menu key to switch to list view.
Scroll to 'PERSONAL,' and then tap Backup & reset.
Tap Factory data reset.
Tap Reset phone.
Tap Erase everything.
Review the warning, and then tap OK.
Wait for the system to reset and do not remove the battery.
Master reset with hardware keys
If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys.
To perform a master reset with the hardware keys, follow these steps:
Back up all data on the internal memory.
Power off the device.
At the same time, press and hold the following keys for 8 seconds:
Power key
Volume down key
When the 'FACTORY HARD RESET' screen displays, release the keys.
Press the Power key to confirm the reset. The master reset will automatically start.

Safe mode
Turn on and use safe mode
Safe mode allows you to turn on the device with third-party apps disabled. Then you can easily remove all apps that may be causing a conflict or software problem.
To turn on safe mode and use it to fix app problems, follow these steps:
From any screen, press and hold the Power key.
Touch and hold Power off.
Review the 'Reboot to safe mode' screen,' then tap OK.
The device restarts and 'Safe mode' appears in the lower-left corner.
Uninstall third-party apps as desired.
Turn off safe mode
To turn off safe mode, follow these steps:
From any screen, press and hold the Power key.
Tap Power off and restart.
Tap OK.

bump
There's no need to bump your own thread, especially since it's a guide.
You should add to the OP that a full factory reset will NOT occur if the laf partition has been zero'd out to enable fastboot. Already been there and done that
Hi,
I have a problem with my Xiaomi MI3W. I installed SuperSu and AdAway.
It worked briefly, but after short time android crashed with some system error.
After reboot I got this screen "To start Android, enter your password".
Whatever I write I get "Decryption unsuccessfull" and text "...Your data is corrupt... you need to perform a factory reset..."
And there is a button "RESET PHONE".
When I press it it brings me to recovery mode. I tried wipe cache, other wipes didn't work.
I tried flashing latest stable rom with MiFlash and fastboot.
It finished successfuly, but the problem persists after reboot.
I also tried wiping and factory reset through TWRP.
I seems that 'data' folder is empty.
Help, please...
choose wipe and then select format data on twrp (button beside advanced wipe i think)
I've changed the settings in the "factory settings" hidden menu.
Here was some "power" option in the "other" section. Power option default is "on" i was changed to "off" and reboot HU..
My HU cant' start, only buttons has got light. When i made hard reset - reset button + power button - HU go into recovery mode. In the recovery mode i can wipe / delete cache and data but HU still can't boot.
My HU: EONON GA2171S
HELP!

I have found a solution.
Description below for anybody who got problem like me:
HU can't start, because in the config file there is mistaken option with power service turned off.
You need to find a MCU file (DMCU.IMG) and MCU CONFIG (DMCU.CFG) file and make an HU update in the recovery. mode.
Put these files on the SD card and flash MCU.
Link to the MCU CONFIG file:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-mcus-t3624724
Link do the MCU file:

REMEMBER - YOU MUST GET FILES TO YOUR HEAD UNIT - but you can try different, your HU is dead now anyway...
