8125 new rom - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Is there a verison of the 2.25 rom for cingular that works with the bt sterio headsets. Or will the one from cingular work fine. Right now a am running 2.17 which works well, but I do drop more calls now, not much more but some.

I see you've fixed that caps LOCK PROblem. ;-)
You can have A2DP on any ROM you wish, if you search for, and install the cab file which is floating around here.

Summiter's AKU 2.3 ROM will work with native support for A2DP and it already has a number of Cingular customizations installed. If you just want "out of the box support" that works well.
If you prefer an older version of the ROM (some claim they are more stable) summiter has also integrated A2DP support in some of his AKU 2.x ROMs.
I'd suggest reading the threads on the custom Cingualr ROMs for more info.

I hope someone has tried this before me... if not I will try to update you on later posts.

Note: Just to let you all know that all my hardware and software was working prior to me updating to the latest code.
Procedure to Upgrade:
Backup:
Download and extract the aWizard-V1_3beta2 utility and execute.
Select the "e" option to Enable RAPI (Run this after each hard reset)
Select the "b" option to backup Radio, OS and Extended ROM
Syncronize the device to you PC before you start the upgrade!!!!
Upgrade:
Run the RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship.exe and follow the insturctions on the screen.
Yes... Your data will be gone.... This is why you Sync'ed before you started.
Install Software (usb):
First start by installing the A2DP cab file by copying it to your device and execute it from the device. I checked before and after and where as i did not have the A2DP option before I did notice it after this was installed. (Sorry, since I have no A2DP head sets I can't test, but will try in the weekend).
I installed all the softwar again and it all works fine so far, we'll see tomorow when it get's put to some use. You will have the choice of either re-installing all of the programs like you did the first time you got the software or you could open the MS ActiveSync 4.1 and select ONE BY ONE and restore them to your device. I have read of problems from some people who selected all of the programs at once and did the re-install... don't do it.
Configure and Test:
I tested the WiFi and I actualy have a better reception using a less stronger signall from the antena options ( I hope this means more play time!). I was actualy very easy this time than on the previouse stock Rom. Again, do not change any settings on you WiFi router, you will need the login information to the router to establish the connection again, I forgot mine and had to look in the routers security settings to get that back again (one minuite tops!).
I tested BT and that works like a charm too! I re-syncronized to my laptop without a problem. Again don't make any changes to your previously working BT enabled PC. If it worked before IT should work now. You will need to establish the BT security connection to you BT enabled PC. Once you accept the connection on you PC, go to your device (8125) and open the ActiveSync manager and from the bottom right-hand menu select the "Connect via Bluetooth". I also connected to my BT headset (Logitek) and works like a charm too! That's IT!
Right now I have WiFi, BT, and TCPMP and the audio and vidio is not skipping nor is the video choppy! I hope that the A2DP works!
And for those of you who did not notice I did this all without ulocking the 8125. So it's still in warranty! Well, let me dream that it is for a while before you tell me it isn't.
Thank you all, good night and good luck!

Of course, since you didn't CID unlock before you upgraded you're now stuck with a CID lock (unless you want to pay cash money for the unlock service).
It's best to CID unlock regardless while still on a 1.xx ROM so that if you do ever decide to upgrade to a custom ROM you can. If you don't CID unlock before upgrading to the official 2.25 ROM you remove the possibility of later getting a CID unlock for free.

There will be a way..... Maybe not now, but being able to unlock the CID will come with time. In any case, can I not go back to 1.8.xx rom, unlock it, then skip back to any rom I want? I've read of several people that have gone back to 1.8.xx, is this not true?
I wrote this because there are a number of us who do not want to run the custom roms, I am not a Cingular employ or know of one that would enable me to test roms and exchange my phone for a new one if I did toast mine. So for those of us that want to stay in the box, there's this.

No ActiveSync after 2.16.9.x

Please help. I flashed 2.16.9.x and now ActiveSync doesn't work anymore, it connects all the time. PDA doesn't show activesync syncronization icon.
I tried to flash another versions of ROM, but it didn't help.
The problem may lie with the PC as opposed to the PDA. Have you tried a remove / re-install of AS4.1 on the PC?

Fair enough, I was just trying to help. Perhaps if you had stated that in your original text I would not have provided such an "Obvious" answer. I will leave it up to others now to take guesses as to what you "might or might not have done"......

Try to make your computer or laptop restore on earlier date then since it started. I had once this problem i don't know but sometimes it with the system files in computer missing then the problem occurs.
Although my ActiveSync works almost fine after the same rom-upgrade, I encounter its strange behaviour sometimes (rear, not always!) - PDA slows down to a crawl right after you disconnect it from a desktop PC (either USB or Bluetooth). It becomes so terribly slow that it takes 20-30 sec to draw the Comm-manager window! then you better soft-reset, then it works just fine. Why am I... to prove that ActiveSync 4.1 is not quite stable with new ROM version 2.16. There is a bug somewhere, and it has to be reported to i-Mate firmware writers.
Have you followed Microsoft rules about configuring firewalls for ActiveSync 4.1? Does it create a network connection 169.254.2.1 on a desktop PC?
Thank you guys, but I guess my case is harder:
1. I have firewall switched off. I didn't change any setting in computer. I just flashed new ROM.
2. I flashed my original ROM, but it didn't help.
3. I tried to sync on several computers and had the same result.
By the way I cannot return to original ipl/spl, I don't know how to do that.
Today I visited repairing service's office and they've prooved me my device is not broken, it synchronizes succesfully via USB on their computer.
So, the problem is related to my computer(s). If I'll find something I report in this thread.
it probably has to do with one of the cabs you installed that are on your original extrom or someone elses. Most people who have had problems after the upgrade on an 8125 (Cingular) have installed cingular cabs from the old rom. I had to to figure out the MMS configuration and after I foundthe one that did my activesync no longer worked. after a reflash and only installing some of the default cabs that came with the new rom and manually configuring the mms and gprs I don't have any problems at all.
well maybe it is the version of activesync we are using when this does happen.
I'm running the ROM that came with the Cingular 8125, and it does the same thing ... 1 in 10 times after disconnecting the device from the PC, the 8125 slows to a crawl, and the only way to recover is a soft-reset. 9 out of 10, it works fine.
OS ROM: 1.8.11.1 WWE
Radio: 01.09.11
Protocol: 4.0.13.20
not overclocked
soon to be ROM upgraded (hopefully)

I use 4.1 for a long time.
I didn't install anything on my pda. It happens even after hard reset. I even tried to flash original rom. In all cases ActiveSync displays "Connecting...", pda even doesn't display sync icon.
I tried to sync with standalone notebook and it was successfull. I'm really shocked why pda cannot sync with my desktop(s). It seems to me it could happen after some windows unattendant updates or something, I'm still investigating...
I have Qtek 9100 and have installed rom 2.16.9 and i also have activesync 4.1 refusing connection to my pda. After some googling i have found this interesting site: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x-connection.htm
I did cheks described there and found out that activesync doesnt have any network adapters and/or activity. USB driver installs, but it, again, doesnt generate anything. Maybe problem is there?
Ehhh... I even cannot return to any previous rom version, because there is no rapi for updaters to work with
reverting back to original cingular rom
How would you go back to original ROM using Lokiwiz tool if your active sync was working OK?
Thanks,
Each time I have done HARD RESET--I uninstalled active sync from my computer AFTER DELETING PARTNERSHIP. I deleted PC from Active sync on my 8125. I deleted all files on my computer related to active sync using search.
I then reinstalled active sync 4.1, being sure WINDOWS FIREWALL was off. I went thru all the steps with my TREND MICRO VIRUS PERSONAL FIREWALL EXCEPTIONS listed on http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx
and I got it to work (1st install always takes time for calendar)
Hope that helps--it seems ridiculous to have redo all that-but so be it.
I'd like to know how to get back to CINGULAR ROM as I am still in 30 day return window.
Well there is a magical combination of buttons as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386 (somewhere around 2-4 page):
Voice+Camera + Reset. Colored bootloader shows up. After that you can connect it to usb and run .exe with rom you want.
The problem with me is that i dont use any 3rd party firewall (i have hardware router for my connections)
reverting back to original cingular rom
You don't think there would be a problem going DOWN in ROM'S?
Do I need to UNLOCK again first?
I must confess. I did (i think veeery lucky) sucseded in running activesync. Altough what was the cause i cannot say. I reverted to 1.6.7 version of the rom. and reinstall everyting several times. and reboted several time. and i saying loud magical words. (and deleted checkpoint vpn software that i have installed). AND it worked!
Maybe trouble was in vpn soft, but it worked pre 4.1 activesync. So... Here is my experience.

Thank you very much for this link, it helped me to find the reason. It's not new ROM fault. The Microsoft Firewall Client (ISA 2000 component) on desktop blocks communication between PDA and desktop. I disabled it and now ActiveSync works fine.
Thank you again.

Summiter's ROMs: locations, descriptions, and stuff

Thought I'd clear up some confusion on the various ROMs and where they are at now. Each of these ROMs is customized for Cingular - they have the Cingular splash screen, and GPRS and MMS account settings.
The orignal ROM that shipped on the 8125:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Cingular/Cingular_RUU_1.8.11.1.WWE.ship.exe
Based on QTek ROM that has A2DP (not recommended since there is now a 2.17 ROM with A2DP):
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Cingular/Cingular_RUU_2080701_101_11310_WWE.exe
Based on QTek test ROM above, but with additional ringers, themes, overclocking app:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_RUU_2080701_101_11310_WWE-RINGRS-OCLOCK.exe
Based on Imate 2.17 ROM with AKU2 and MSFP (this is the "cleanest" customized ROM):
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Cingular/Cingular_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE.exe
Based on 2.17 Imate ROM, but with additional ringers, themes, and overclocking app:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE-RINGRS-OCLOCK.exe
Based on 2.17 Imate ROM, but with additional ringers, themes, overclocking app, and Compact Framework 2 integrated into ROM:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE_RNGRS_OCLOCK_CF2.exe
Based on 2.17 Imate ROM, but with additional ringers, themes, overclocking app, Compact Framework 2, and A2DP/AVRCP:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE_CF2_A2DP.exe
To flash to a new ROM, follow the directions listed in numerous posts. In a nutshell you do this:
Plug in, establish Activestink (no need to create a full partnership)
Use aWizard to CID unlock. Phone will restart when done.
Re-establish Activestink
Run the ROM upgrader of choice
I'd rather this post not turn into troubleshooting topic for specific versions, so try to keep those sorts of topics in the announcement threads for each ROM, or start a new topic. (after doing a search of the forums to see if your question/issue has been addressed elsewhere)
Thankya and stuff
You are the man, dude! Thanks for sharing your talents.
I hate post bumpers, but I'm still getting PMs and seeing folks looking for proper links to the ROMs, so, BUMP BIATCH.
Yeah, this should stay near the top, I'm running one of your roms and it's great, thanks!
Thank you VERY much for all your time & hard work. It is much appreciated.
awesome work bud! Thanks so much for this stuff..
this thread should be stickied!!
Your the man!!!!
Muchas gracias summiter for your wisdom and help.
Summiter:
You do great work. I'm a real Noobie. I'm now using the QTEK WWE TEST ROM 2.8 . . .something. I have a cingular 8125 phone but using T-Mobile USA service. I'm flashed the Test ROM to get the A2DP and AVRCP profiles. It works OK but it hangs especially when going from switching from GPRS to Wifi and back (I have to soft reset the device.)
Which of your ROMs would work the best for me? By looking at the list the 2.17 I-mate with A2DP and AVRCP seem to look the best.
Thanks for all the good work.
RE: upgrade to the May 2nd "repaired" version
Thanx summitter. I used an older file (May 2, 2006 download) ----
Cingular_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE_CF2_A2DP-fixed.exe
I assume this is the same as the latest one in the directory ---
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Roms/Cingular/
Mine said 54m on the FTP site and wound up about 56,301k on my PC.
Assuming i have the same one, i should already have Compact Net Framework 2. So, the question is: did i screw this up when -----
1. downloaded the .msi file for WiFiFoFum. About 7mb file with NET Compact Framework 2 (via USB Active Sync connection).
2. Tried to install the app. First it loaded WiFiFoFum successfully. Stopped about 1/3 during NET Compact Framework 2 install.
3. After numerous tries, i removed the both. Even deleted the new additional directory of NET Compact Framework 2.
4. The loaded the .CAB version of WiFiFoFum (which was only 300k and did not have NET Compact Framework). Seems to be working fine.
Could i have removed NET Compact Framework from my system? Is there anyway to tell if it still is loaded?
Everything seems to be working. Wifi, Bluetooth, GPRS, and even a little program that pushes all audio to my BT headset.
Thoughts anyone?
MSFP Problem...
Has anyone been able to get the ota push side of MSFP to work w/ Cingular in the US and the MSFP version of this rom upgrade?
Thanks!
Once again thanks Summiter. Can't wait to see what you have cookin' up next. I now have two Bluetooth Stereo Headsets and am waiting on the Nextlink Spider to make it my third. All thanks to you. Moto HT820 and Jabra BT620.
Zoki hack needed with this ROM?
Based on 2.17 iMate ROM, but with additional ringers, themes, overclocking app, Compact Framework 2, and A2DP/AVRCP:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE_CF2_A2DP.exe
Hi Summiter/ any one who have installed this Rom,
I have installed the last ROM in this thread.
Do we need Tornado hack cab files done by Zoki in other threads in order to get the bluetooth stereo with this ROM. or we are good to go with this ROM. Because in this version I could not see any sbc or b2a2dp or avrcp_ files as given by the zoki version.
Thanks
Noob Question here
I unlocked my phone and got ready to install the 2.17. Then I saw the warning that it would erase all the info on the device. I'm sure once I do a quick activestink after the boot, I'll get all my contacts back. But will I have to reset all of my other settings (email, gprs, etc.). I just got the phone last week and have already spent literally hours on the phone with Cingular's tech support sorting out all sorts of issues (like not being able to connect to gprs and voice mail not working, which was their problem I think). Thanks in advance.
10 print "bump"
20 goto 10
Ok,
I unlocked the phone and cid using lokwiz and then flashed the rom with the ftp://xda:[email protected]_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE_CF2_A2DP.exe version. Not sure if it worked though. The battery icon disappeared, but I don't see the overclocking feature or any additional ringers or themes. It shows the ROM version as 1.8.11.1 WWE and the ROM Date at 11/24/05. Radio version is 2.07.10. Did it update? I get the sneaky suspicion that it didn't.
I did see it load the A2DP cab after the reboot, but don't have the headset to test it yet. How do I tell if it worked?
Thanks in advance.
Make sure you do the super unlock, not just the regular one. Otherwise it only flashes halfway
Thanks. I'm pretty sure that's the one I did. I'll try again, though I'll probably wait until Summiter gets the next ROM out later this week. I flashed it twice today and am ready to take a break from it.
BTW, thanks for all the hard work Summiter.
Where are the cab files located after I flash the unit?
Where are the cab files located after I flash the unit, so I can install the extra features included with it ?
i will have to say thank you to summiter for the rom we have used it at my work and we are very happy with it.

Push Availability In Com Manager & A2DP

hi
i am running the latest Summter rom with the following Device information showing
ROM Version - 2.24.10.1 wwe
ROM Date 4/17/06
Radio Version - 02.25.11
Ext Rom Version - 2.25.11.102
(i downloaded to 1.05 then CID unlocked (got the CID Unlocked at the finish) then upgraded without a hitch, i am reasonably sure i am completely upgraded, i have what "Could" be a stupid question but here goes. when i click the Com manager the "Push" e-mail icon is greyed out??? am i missing something? i will have my server up an running in about a week (Exchange with SP2, etc) so i am just curious am i missing a step? do i need to configure the activesync server info first? then the icon will be available? also along the same lines how can i verify that i am bluetooth stereo compatable??
any help is appreciated
thanks in advance
Can someone answer this "tricky" post?
I also have the same issue despite my Qtek 9100 (rom 2.25) is working like a charm!!...
Thanks in advance
well i was reading another post about www.mail2web.com and i signed up for their FREE exchange hosted e-mail service. i followed the directions and set up the server in activesync. once this was done the little envelope was highlighted and i was able to enable "Push"
e-mail. do a search for mail2web and sign up for the service. as far as the A2DP i assume when i get the headphones the option will show once they are paired.
good luck
biged
The last mistery on my phone has now been solved!
Waiting now new ROM's updates...

Disclaimer
While it is really hard to brick your device with this package (since it is not touching the bootloader aka. IPL/SPL), still, standard disclaimer applies: Flash this ROM at your own risk!
What's next?
When I'll have enough time I might make a ROM with extra stuff but that ain't gonna happen till this weekend or so.
Download
WM5 AKU 3.2 ROM version 1.0 RC1 for HTC Wizard (49.5 MB)
Extra note
This rar was created with WinRar 3.6 final. It is possible that you get errors at decompressing with older version so if that is the case, go to http://www.rarlab.com and install the latest version the try again.
GREAT WORK KTAMAS!!!!

Extened Roms
Hi there, I'm a bit of a newbie. How do I install an extented rom?
Ta, Rin.
Connectivity Issues.
I have a Cingular 8125.
Upgraded from AKU 2.3 (TMO USA 2.26 OS) to this.
==================================
THE GOOD:
ActiveSync works fine syncing data with my PC.
SMS (Text Messages) work both in and out.
Phone Works.
Bluetooth Works with my normal headset (Jabra BT500).
THE BAD
Internet connection won't work. I have proper GPRS Settings for Cingular (tried both ISP & WAP settings) but the connection fails always (saying the answering modem has disconnected).
When I try to use AS Pass-through it simply can't find the page.
I have tried your ROM, but unfortunatelly it flashed only bootimage (Cingular) and cleared ExtROM from Vario (from T-Mobile CZ) of my boss...
Any help? Thanks.
i added this to my beta rom.. i am installing now to test

Hmm, I've set up my GPRS account and first it connected, but didn't load anything. Did a soft reset, now it works well.

It seems that AKU3 has a nasty bug: it fails to connect to a GPRS APN if it requires username/password. GPRS works for me cause my provider needs no UN/PW.
Edit: On the other hand, AS Passthru is not working for me.

Is this documented anywhere?
If that is the case then it looks like I'll probably have to exclude myself from this project (which would blow chunks).

Problem after upgrade to WM5 AKU3.5.2 R5 Rom Kitchen v2

Problem after upgrade to WM5 AKU3.5.2 R5 Rom Kitchen v2 (My XDA IIs)
The problem is wi-fi and bluetooth connection.. some time i can open wi-fi and some time can not (bluetooth also)
you cannot use both bt and wifi at same time with xplode release.
from your post, i guess you are trying to use one with the other already on.
Yes you can use them both at the same time, i use other drivers for my rom than helmi's

I can vow to that too.
No problem to use both at the same time.
Try doing a hard reset and flash the rom again. Test BT and Wifi when you have not installed any other applications to your BA. It should work. If not, I suggest that you do another hard reset, this time, flash Xplode's rom and after that, flash the radio rom. I did this a few days back as I suspected my BA is not functioning well even after fresh rom upgrade.
General advice, disable any of the SIP you don't need, e.g. transcriber (at this moment, I have only the keyboard - I used to add in Tengo Thumb), have as little Today plug-in as possible. For now, I have Phone Dashboard, iLauncher, PocketBreeze and SK Today Commander and both BT and Wifi can be fired up one after the other, no problem. Note that you must close any other application you have in the background, e.g. Calendar, Messenging, Contacts etc. Follow this and you should be able to enjoy the hard work Xplode had put it.
Cheers!
i use helmi release and i can use both at same time.
