OnCourse Navigator 5 device ID question - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hi,
I just bought my Blue Angel a few days back and its on its way now . I currently have an IPAQ 4150 and I have installed the OnCourse Navigator 5 on it. I checked with the Navigon guyz and they said they ll give me a new key after I give them the ID of my SX66 and a copy of the reciept. Now my question is if tomorrow I upgrade my rom to WM5 would that change the device ID they use to generate the unlocking key for the OCN5 or would it work on both the WM2003 and WM5. The Navigon guyz said if you upgrade your rom it does change the device ID .... but I really doubt that. Any insight would highly be appreciated. Also what if I just upgrade e.g from 1.22 to 1.40 would that effect the device ID?
ETA 143 Hours and counting .....and then ..... weeeeeeeeeh
Would also like to add that I only decided to buy the BA after reading all the fun ppl have at this forum
Cheers!

It's very likely that it will change the ID. The only way it wouldn't would be if the ID was purely derived from the phones IMEI number and/or your owner information. If the ID incorporates any other info then the chances are that the info will change during the upgrade. It really comes down to how they generate the ID and generally that's info they keep to themselves to avoid piracy.

So that means everytime I update to a different Rom, I will need a new key ?

Possibly, as I said it all depends on how they do the ID. Some software uses the Owner Information to make the ID and that wouldn't be affected by an upgrade. Mind you, that approach has it's own issues e.g. what if you get married or change your name...?
You'll likely find that going from e.g. Tuma 1.3 to 1.5 will not change the ID as the changes aren't as significant.
Could you post back your results when you get the device? Most of this is guesswork and it would be nice to know should anyone search for this info.

Will do........
Just about 3 days to go .....

SX66 EXT ROM Standardization Project

Hi, I've opened this thread to correspond if a new development project that has started on WIKI. The concept behind this project is to support users of the SX66 (PH20B1) available in the US. There is a good community of folks using this model, and a users group seems to be forming. Giving that this community has varied levels of the technical skills, this idea came to me as a way of further increasing the growth of the BA adoption in the US, while reducing the need of me helping folks one at a time. But I must give credit where credit is due, the knowledge I bring to this project was all gained from the hard work and dedication of users here. Work that I would be lost without.
I have posted a Beta I trial for a 1.40.121 (cooked for the SX66 WWE Cingular) EXT ROM, and have invited select users to assist in the testing. This space will be used for feedback.
Update 5/12/05 - I've posted a Beta 2 release: Check out the Dev page at the link below for deatils:

Thank you for your effort, Chris. add me too.
Do you recommend upgrading to Windows Mobile 2005? I have downloaded the SW and wanna check first.
thx
where do you download this? or are you just sending it to people?
My friend, I will post the links to the forum now.

I am not responsible if you system has any problem because of this upgrade.
the bluetooth does not work on Beta2-S1.40.00-R1.12.00.E1.40.122
I can't pair my headset
KS, even after a soft reset? I've got 1.40.122 running without incident, but the BT files haven't changed, so it should not be an issue.. It is built on the 3900 stack included in the 1.40.00 system ROM, with only an add on to put the stereo headset in.
What headset are you using?

Here is the link to the DEV page, which includes a link to the current kit:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Wiki_Dev_Test5
Let me also point out, as I think it may be confused in some of the earlier posts. This is an EXT ROM for System ROM 1.40.00, which is Windows Mobile 2003 SE, not 2005.

thanks Chris. this is nice, had been wanting to upgrade my sx66 but was just too lost to cook my own ...
the cabs included sounds good and i'm going to try it tonite!
feedback once its done. thanks once again.
AlmondKing,
Looking at your flag, and provider logo, I just wanted to point out that the files contain customizations for Cingular as they are required in the US. Hope that is not a problem.
Everyone,
Found my first bug. There is a problem in the version cab. I got creative, and tried the set the version to 1.40.122 (Cooked).... Well, the getdevicedata doesn't seem to like that. It doesn't seem to create a problem when flashing, but it records the EXT rom version as blank when reflashing. I've updated the version CAB, and will have it in beta 3.

Jerry, I believe the files you are trying to delete are the one that are part of the System ROM, and can't be deleted. This is why you are getting the in use error.

New MDA: Step by step???

I have been looking at this site (and others linked to this site) for the past three days waiting for my T-Mobile MDA to arrive.
Could someone please post a new phone, out-of-box step-by-step guide to what to do first as far as resets, ROM, unlocks, software, and tweaks??
I have at least a ream of paper with posts printed but can not seem to get it organized into what to do- when.
BTW- I had a Cingular Rzr- after I unlock SIM can I use my Cigular SIM to access my contacts saved on it with my TMobile MDA?
Thanks so much for all of your help.

Detail will make for a long post but here is a few quick steps of poular MDA setups.
Two General Routes you can take with bringing your MDA up to date with the latest in cool additions.
Route 1: Does not require you to flash a ROM
- Apply those tweeks available here, that let you customize your MDA for performance and useability. These are in the form of Registry Modifications. They can be entered manually through one of the popular utilities like Total Commander or Resco Explorer. These tweeks are also available in the form of a .Cab file for easy installation. There is also a really nice app here for applying those tweeks on the fly (Registry Wizard)
Route 2: Requires you to load a cooked Rom (Gives you upto date versions of WM 5, Radio ROM, etc...) which gives you a better performing MDA, plus the lates capabilities.
- When going this route you have to be careful, mistakes can give you a bricked MDA.
1. Buy a 128mb MiniSD (Your going to use this to backup your original ROM incase of a mistake, problem, or you just want to revert back to the old ROM.)
2. Backup your ROM using the method described in the Wizard_Service_Manual.pdf (Found on the FTP server)
3. Now choose one of the great cooked ROMS (Xelencin, MrClean, PDAMobizEdition, etc...) Each has its own customizations. Some even include all the Registy mods.
Good luck.
I realize that it would take a while but possibly it could be added to the FAQ section? It seems that many people have asked for it in the past but one has never been provided. It would be nice not to have to be a return poster asking how to save my brick!
I definitely want to add a cooked ROM. The reason why I (and others) ask for the walk-through (in the correct order) is so we don't end up with a brick and you guys are the best!
I just don't want to unlock my CID with loki if it is unlocked in Eelencin's ROM or forget to add the java upgrade after the ROM, or when (and where computer or phone and Active Sync) I should download registry commander program... do you see what I mean.
I have the information from the forum but I have no idea when to do what-
Please help all you Obi Won's- you are our only help!
thanks again-
The problem is, what one person sees as a necessary step in setup, others dont.
Some say upgrade ROM to latest, others say dont. Some say use the latest from your telecom provider, others from hardware manufacturer. Some say set display to 10% others to 50%...and the list goes on
It is, and must, be down to the individual user. Read the manual (hehe hands up who actually has), try a few things. If it goes wrong you can always Hard Reset and start again. If you get stuck, or want to know the best setting for a particular option, come back n ask.
This is a great thread!
I'm confused about where to start, especially because i have a G4.
I decided to stay with the latest Tmobile ROM since its more difficult to unlock etc. (i couldnt find anything about unlocking a G4 here)
So i got this freeware program called TaskManager and im pretty sure i can edit the registry through it, so i decided i would just tweak the registry eg. change the cache and history to the memory card etc. to improve performance and i wont mind a little overclock either
Can you guys give me a link to a list of registry tweaks?
And do you think im making the right choice by just tweaking the registry rather than trying to unlock it or anything?
And am i missing anything? Like i said im kinda confused about where to start with a G4.
Thanks from a Noob.
hey sup. welcome. firts of all u are way behind. your rom is past due even your radio. why dont u try faria's new rom version 2 but please follow instructions clearly because u do need to unlock and downgrade and all that good stuff to get that bad boy looking sweet. hola
What to do, in what order

First, find out if you have a G3 or a G4. Since it's new, more likely it's a G4?
First thing I would do is completely unlock it, if it's a G3 by running Lokiwiz TWO TIMES - sim unlock AND CID unlock (emphasis is intentional and very important! - and make sure you get confirmation and reboot after each unlock step). If it's a G4, you may have to pay to get CID unlock.
Next, find out what version ROM you have, and upgrade to the most recent "official" ROM from TMobile if your ROM is not as recent (see the FTP).
Then read every post by Dr. Puttingham, every post by Faria, every post by Molski, every post by Menneisyys, every post by Risidoro, every post by vijay555, every post by me (haha, just kidding - pay no attention to the man behind the curtain) - geez, this feels like my Academy Awards speech - who did I leave out? Read everything you can by every senior member, every guru who's been there, done that, tried it all.
THEN, you can start having fun. Try anything else you want to after that!
this may sound lame but just be patience and keep reading, that is the best way you are going to learn because it is more confusing when everyone tells you different stuff.
Read and ask questions as you go along. That is how most if not all of us start out. There is no dummy guide here. If you ask some people they would say this is not the beginners forums to be exact. Sorry if I sound like an A**hole but it is just straight solid advice.

Kaiser on Softbank in Japan?

Anyone know if this would be possible. I would luv to get this phone. Am using a tytn at the moment on softbank network. Considering purchasing a Kaiser from overseas on next business trip to bring back to Tokyo and give it a whirl.
Thanks,
Theoretically it is possible as the radios and sim cards should be compatible.
However, the Softbank AP for the flat rate data plan has not been cracked. Yet. There are a few people with Treo 750s that are also interested in seeing this password revealed - as well as me. I would like to try the Libra - or perhaps even the Omni or Wings (when and if they debut) if they have the right radios.
If you don't mind paying more for data, then the expensive/slow data connection to Softbank is possible.

Here's the interesting thing. Ordered a Kaiser from UK via DHL (delivered in 3 days!) and today when I stuck in my Softbank SIM, I found that the Kaiser (TytnII) software automatically detected that I was on Softbank and automatically installed the connection settings for Softbank. I am able to surf using that auto configured connection though I cannot confirm this is the connection that uses the flat rate 3G thing. More investigation needed.
There's been tonnes of posts on how people can setup a link using software/hacks/whatever to access the flat rate software package but haven't had enough time to check it out.
At the moment, except a direct HSDPA (as indicated by the icon) internet link, there's no MMS or SMS (!) so I need to figure out why; latter might be because MMS and SMS seems to share the same mailbox now so maybe because I've not setup mms as yet, even SMS won't come in
Boy, why has everything in Japan got to be so complicated...
Auto-configured the connection huh? Cool trick. It should be easy to check.
The access point name of the flat rate connection is open.softbank.ne.jp. I believe the non-flat rate connection is [email protected] (or something like that).
You should be able to check by looking at Settings>Connections>Manage my existing connections, then select edit to view the particulars for the Softbank connection.
As far as SMS/MMS, you hit the nail right on the head. I have had troubles with the integrated SMS/MMS mailbox here in Japan with various ROMs for my Hermes. It might (big might) be possible to overwrite your SMS/MMS software with a previous verson of Arcsoft MMS that has separate mailboxes. That might (again, big might, never tried it before) free up your SMS. If that succeeds, we can get you to try installing MMSlite.
Hi!
I know this is off topic, sorry about that.
But is there a recent 2007 'how to install Japanese support' on a TyTn II?
I have read a lot and some of it is scary !!

Ofiaich - no, no, don't worry about the off-topic post.
And you don't ever need to be scared of modding your phone as long as you have a backup utility. I recommend SPB Backup, but some are fond of Sprite.
The Kaiser is a relatively new device so you are kind of flying blind. However, since both machines run WM6, many of the same packages should be viable. Let's start with the directions found in Make your X01HT a WM6 Device (for Gaijins)
Now time to have your Hermes speak Japanese
Japanese fonts
Use the excellent work from Asukal, that you can find here:
http://www.asukal.jp/WM5/LetsJapanNo5.zip
Japanese input
Not using for myself, but these work perfectly (I tried):
http://www.asukal.jp/WM5/BagojsINPUT.zip
If you prefer a Japanese input without the annoying "Floating bar", ie just the same input way as your original WM5 Softbank ROM, just downlaod and install the "MS IME31 J" link from Asukal's page:
http://hn801.hkes.com/Data/SIP/IME_31J_QVGA_F.zip
Click to collapse
I believe that these files are generic for WM5/6, and that they should work on any QVGA machine. The picture from Asukal's page shows them working on an Alpine, so they are not specific to Hermes.
The following directions however, might be specific to the Hermes, as they are registry settings for the keyboard. The above packages should actually automatically change the two HKCU registry entries below.
To map properly your Softbank Keyboard, do the following registry modifications:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 30411 (Hexadecimal base)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010411
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010411

I hope to get a TyTn II very soon ! Saving up and trading old phones etc!
I will read your links again thoroughly and come back to you!

I purchased Kaiser.
There was environment I displayed Japanese, and to be able to beat against Japanese with Atok.
I tested SB in Kaiser with usable ConnSBM_ORE2h.zip, but Password was not formed.
I think that Password is made if I do not understand that I make ORE2cert.cab for Kaiser, and it is possible for this.
Maro,
So, let me just make sure I understand: you have a Kaiser, and that the Kaiser can read Japanese, and that you can input Japanese using third-party software called ATOK.
That is good news for our friend ofiaich.
Now, I understand you tried to install Softbank's flat rate connection set up using ConnSBM.cab, ORE2cert.cab, Out.xml, and WIFIwake.exe, all four of these files being the ones used for the Hermes. (There is also a package for Universal called ConnSBM_ORE2u.zip.)
And you say that you can make a ORE2cert.cab for Kaiser and if you do that then the password will be made?
If that is so, then that is great! But I have a feeling that you don't need a new ORE2cert.cab. The ORE2cert.cab for the Hermes and the ORE2cert.cab for the Universal seem to be the exact same file.

Ok, bit of progress. Can verify that the auto-configured connection (which works fine) is the non-flat rate connection so would strongly advise folks to be careful in using it.
Installed MMSlite and ended up having constant irritating reports that storage memory is full! No way MMSlite can occupy so much memory! Anyway, ended up having to hard reset. Once reset, this time I installed CE Star to provide japanese font support and then installed MMSlite. Worked a treat. Can confirm I can receive both MMS and SMS but at the moment can only send SMS; MMS is no go as that 'special S!Mail' mail box will not allow phone number as destination. I think the S!Mail MMS mail box is configured as a normal email mail box so is expecting an email address or something. Next is to find how to get access to the flat rate connection so time to dig the archives...
Any other fellow Japanese Kaiser users who can share some experiences?
Thanks Larsuck for the comments and tips....

Well, that's a bummer, but as Softcrank keeps their flat-rate settings top top secret, it was also to be expected.

This is how MMSlite normally works, unfortunately. It can't send to phone numbers (or at least I have never been able to do so). However, build 275 has a function that, when you try to send an MMS to a phone number, it looks up the phone number in your contacts list and gives you a list of 'real' email addresses to choose from. Of course, there have been stability issues reported with build 275.
Question here: did your Kaiser have the joined SMS/MMS inbox? Or were the inboxes separate before you installed MMSlite? I have had trouble with the joined SMS/MMS inbox on some Hermes ROMs on Softbank.

Thanks for the info relating to MMSlite; think I have build 275 so could give it a shot I guess.
My Kaiser did indeed have the joined SMS/MMS box prior to installing MMSlite; post-installation they're still joined. What type of trouble did you have just out of curiosity? I've yet to have any issues.
Bummer, thought there existed some means of generating the password etc etc using some really convoluted means of installation in xda forums? So I take it there currently exists no means of accessing the Softbank flat rate connection outside of using the original Japanese mobile? I thought there was a post that would auto-populate the password field after the convoluted setup?
Yes, there is a convoluted process like that. Unfortunately, it depends on an .exe file called WIFIwake.exe that is device specific. There is an .exe for the Hermes and one for the Universal - none for the Kiaser yet. If you would like to try either of those links, they are
here
If you have the knowhow to delve into an .exe file and make the right changes (I have compared the files and there are only two changes to make it seems), I know you will make more than a few people happy. Needless to say, I don't have any idea how to even start editing programs.
I have been searching, trying to find a work around for a couple of months now. At first, I had been looking for the password itself, but I don't know that it is such a good idea for the password to get out. That's what happened before, and in response Softbank closed down that access point and switched to the current one.
So, now I'm looking for a solution in the form of a .cab or registry hack - one that can be used on a wider range of machines. If and when I succeed, I will post to this form and you can give it a shot.
I tried two ROMs with the SMS/MMS joined mailbox. The first one was Black Satin, and on that ROM the SMS wouldn't send or recieve. I didn't even keep that ROM long enough to check MMSlite. The second ROM was T-Lite by edhass. That ROM had no problems sending and recieving SMS, but when I installed MMSlite it created a separate mailbox called MMS1. So, everytime I would go to send a MMS, it would automatically try to send it using the joined SMS/MMS settings and it wouldn't go through. So, it wasn't that it didn't work, it was just kind of a pain in the ass.
Hi!
ordered the TyTn II and, with luck, it should be with me tomorrow!
At the latest Monday before 1.00pm!
I am an absolute beginner with Windows Mobile, and yes, I will RTFM thoroughly and also search and search.....
But if anyone can help with like an Idiots Guide to Installing Japanese, I would be grateful!
larsuck, I have downloaded the files that you told me about, from the post on the 19th!
Good weekend for all!
Ofiaich
Patched WIFIwake from Chaimd
Huzzah! Huzzah!
Chaimd has apparently patched WIFIwake to work for Kaiser!
With this, Kaiser users should now be able to get the flat-rate Softbank connection working.
First, here is the thread where Chaimd first posted this info and the patched WIFIwake: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298031&page=11
Read it first, because there is something about CID-unlocking the Kaiser and memorizing the Pre-unlocked CID. I will alert Chaimd to this thread and hopefully he can answer questions.
Thank you, larsuck. I'll try to explain the working WIFIwake.exe on Kaiser, in my terribly poor English.
Now, we can connect to the flat-rate Softbank access point, to patch and sign WIFIwake.exe.
That WIFIwake works copmpletely on my Kaiser. But that method depends on;
Pre-Unlock CID must be known!
CID unlocked, I used Pof's Hard-SPL.
Patching WIFIWake.exe;
01C760h "KAIS1300KAIS1300", 16 chars in UTF-16.
01C784h Pre-Unlock CID, 8 chars in UTF-16.
01C798h Pre-Unlock CID, 8 chars in UTF-16.
Self-Signing WIFIwake.exe
To Install not only connSBM.cab, Out.xml ans WIFIwake.exe,
but also your Self-Signing CAB file.
If you understand Japanese, you can get some informations of Kaiser & WIFIwake in this blog;
http://d.hatena.ne.jp/chai99/20071008
Now if you don't mind me asking, how do you use a non-japanese sim based phone on softbank with a data contract (not technically) but actually like go about it? As i go back and forth between japan frequently and in ~6 months will be moving there again for a year or two. Last time i lived there, I never had a mobile. Times change and now i need one for sure while there. I'd love to use a Kaiser that I have on hold at AT&T (can get it completely unlocked...). I thought they don't give SIM cards on there pre-paid phones...
@Philz,
If you get a cheap phone from softbank with a voice plan, you can use the sim card from that in your Kaiser. If your Kaiser is unlocked, the sim card should allow text and voice without messing with any settings. There is also a .cab program called Carrier Settings Wizard (or some such) that is floating around in the Hermes threads. It might be able to set up the (non-flat-rate) data settings for Softbank.
If you are a heavy data user and want a flat-rate data plan then, after signing up for one, you would need to apply the treatment that we are discussing here. However, from what chaimd says it doesn't sound easy.
Unfortunately, contracts from Softbank are usually for two years - not ideal for someone who is always traveling back and forth. Depending on how long you are in Japan, it might be cheaper just to roam here until you make the move.
@chaimd,
You said you used Pof's tool. Is your Kaiser Super-CID? It seems strange that the CID must be known if the device is Super-CID.
Also, you said:
"5. To Install not only connSBM.cab, Out.xml ans WIFIwake.exe,
but also your Self-Signing CAB file. "
What is this Self-Signing CAB file? Do you mean the patched WIFIwake?
Or perhaps ORE2Cert?
Will the ORE2Cert from the Hermes package work with the Kaiser?
Hi, larsuck! I'm writing on Kiser through the flat-rate Softbank connection, now.
First: Is my Kaiser Super-CID?
Yes, my Kaiser is Super-CID. First, I checked "info 2" command, after the installation of pof's Hard-SPL. As WIFIwake works on my unlocked Treo750, and I jumped and thought "Yes! Super-CID! WIFIwake will work without patches!", ..... but it does'nt generate the password in real. Indeed, it is strange. I was confused.
We tried many many patterns of patching WIFIwake, but WIFIwake did'nt generate the pass, and we spent a few days. Finally, one of us found the right way! and we've got to the flat-rate Softbank connection. We found pre-unlocked CID was known to work WIFIwake on Hard-SPL Kaiser. I don't know why?
2nd: What is self-siging cab file?
The itamae's WIFIwake has already been signed by him to work without a ROM cooking. ORE2Cert, ore-ore-certification means self-sign certification in Japanese, is his signature to allow execute a previllaged code for WindowsMobile devices. But, if you patch the WIFIwake, WindowsMobile rejects it as a illeagal modified code. Then, you must re-sign WIFIwake, and install yor own Self-Sign-Cert.cab with your WIFIwake. You need to make your own Self-Sign-Cert CAB file. ORE2Cert.cab from the Hermes package does'nt work on Kaiser.
I described how to make Self-Sign files without VisualStudio in my blog. It's almost the minimum procedure of self-siging, but it's in Japanese.

Datestamp, Tom Tom (and ROM question)

Hello everyone and thank you for providing such a wonderful forum!
I am new to the WM platform, using PalmOS for many years. My Tilt arrives tomorrow and I will need to set it up to get some of my patient management issues going.
Let me preface by saying that I have tried searching for many things here and I keep getting zero results (even searching for something simple like "HTC ROM"). What am I doing wrong (I haven't had these problems on other forums)?
I currently use my ToDo list to keep track of my patient rounds and use shortcuts to insert a datestamp into the note field whenever I see a patient. I plan on trying HanDBase for my database program (works similar to the Palm's ToDo list, only more powerful; unless someone here can offer something better). Does anyone here know if there is a utility/program to insert a Datestamp into a field in whatever program I choose?
Will TomTom 5 work on the Tilt?
I have been doing some research into ROMs and I may be interested in flashing my device. What I would like to know is simply: what are the main differences between the AT&T and the main HTC ROM's? I know that the HTC will not have AT&T's bloatware, but I can prevent that install from the tweaks listed elsewhere here. What other benefits are there? I'm sorry to ask, but it is hard from all these threads to get a simple summary.
Thank you all again.

DeviceID

Hi,
I need a little help.
I've not had my Diamond for long and new to WinMo and I'm trying to put TT7 on it, but I need to get the DeviceID, but don't know where to locate it?
Any help much appreciated!
Thanks,
DG.
If you already installed TT then connect your phone to PC and locate navigator.bif file! openit with Notepad and there you find a lots of info, and your device ID
Also, device ID should popup when you launch the program with directions to activate the installed map. ( at leat with Tom Tom 6
If you had be using a purchased version of TT then you would not need to locate the DeviceID

Hey, had the same problem m8
heres what you do
open tomtom7, on the map in the botton right hand corner is the time and right below is satelite connecton indicator. Tap that and then tap ''version'', also botton right hand corner. And BAM there is your DeviceID.
Deeds.
Thanks guys!
I'm going to try that tonight... hope I don't have too much trouble with it... after readying here, it seems people are having a bit of a mare with it!
Windoze9t8, I know I should be using a purchased one, but after coughing up 350 queens heads on a phone, another 200 on a piece of software if a little extreme! (well, thats the cost on the tomtom site!)
I got tt7, it says its for HTC, hope it works!
Wish me luck!

Yes but where to buy TT7?
Indeed you wont need a device ID when you have purchased and or use tomtom maps legally you can see your device ID.
You cant buy tt7 (yet) tt6 will work
No joy with TT7 anyway!
The Home2Go or whatever it is could not install / run after I copied it to the phone? I'm either doing something totally wrong or I got the wrong file.
It was the legal one you get from tomtom website, then you install that and then the maps... apparently!
Any other free apps? I tried google maps, but it uses a data connection and I just want to use the GPS so it doesn't be costing me anymore monies!
Just out of interest (legal copy or not) when I connect to the phone via ActiveSync, do I just generally copy apps there and run them, or is there a way to install them from my machine to the phone via ActiveSync? For TT7 I created a folder called 'Navigation' and put it in there (obviously from reading above, it didn't work!)
If only it a drag and drop hey...
DG
sorry if i am wrong, but nobody here know that the device id is in:
settings/system/device information/identity ? are you speaking about IMEI? isn't this the device identity? i think there is also a key combination you "dial" and the phone will return you the IMEI..i don't remember which.

This is not true. If you'd previously been using TT on a different device then you will need to give the DeviceID to TomTom (direct or via www.ttcode.com) in order to reactivate your maps on the new device. I had to do this when moving from a C500 to an M600.

The DeviceID is a 'TomTom-ism' - a code that TomTom uses to uniquely identify your device. It must be obtained through some process involving fixed identities of the device and so whilst it could well be derived from IMEI it is not actually the IMEI itself.

Give the ID yes, but you dont have to locate it as the code splash screen appears with the code on - which you then provide to the site ttcode.com, if one is trying to find the code in the bif file then that method is being used as a hacked version of TT - repacked
Although you have the ability to activate TT on other devices every six months TTs agreement indicates you may only use the product once on one device.

it is £50 for the Western Europe version of TT 7.** maps and the application is around on the net.
Dont get me wrong I'm not having a go - just making a point. I am really P*Off with TT as they do not offer an upgrade policy for people who have early version maps like myself.
Good Luck

AFAIK the only official way to get TT7 is by purchasing a Diamond with it pre-installed like the German XDA form O2 (maybe other countries too) then you can get the 7.2 version maps from the TT website.
