SMS Caller ID App?? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I seem to remember reading a post but cannot seem to find the info now that I need it. I would like a program that will allow me to setup different notifications for SMS based on who they come from. Like assigned ringtones for phone callers. Anyone know of an app that will do this I would be grateful to hear from you.
Thanks.

Custom Ring Tone Problems.....

All,
I have searched up and down using google and this forum, and all I have found is people with similar problems but no answers to these questions below:
1. Ring tones for contacts saved to the phone are easy, as is setting a single .mp3 to play for SMS messages, but all I really want is my default ring tones for contacts to play when they send me SMS messages. I know Ringo does this, but it crops my ring tones down. I don't want this. I want the full 3-8 minute song to play for a given contact whenever they send me an SMS message.
2. Why won't my current SMS ring tone stop playing on opening of a notification? No matter what it is, a stock 10 second clip or a 8 minute .mp3, it plays completely whether I have opened the phone or not. The equivalent of this would be you getting a call, answering the call, and as you are talking, your main ring tone is still playing. I don't know if this has to do with windows media player, which I have replaced with the audio manager, which is much better, but it is a huge hassle for the sms message ringer not stop once you've opened and are replying to an sms notification. I don't want to have to have my text messages just vibrate or have no sound at all. I want the whole .mp3 to play the ring tone for the specific contact unless I read or dismiss the notification.
I have looked into Ringo, Phonealarm, and Mobiedit, and none does want I want. Ringo crops my SMS alerts, but plays full .mp3s for incoming calls...It should be the other way around. Mobiedit wouldn't recognize any of my .mp3s. Phonealarm has a lot of nice features, but what I want is very specific.
Any registry hacks for this? Any cabs for this?
I want to thank you in advance for your answers and for all the wonderful information, tips & tricks, and downloads you offer.
Thank you,
Brian

Can anyone point me in the direction of another resource then?
PhoneAlarm WILL do this. You just have to set it up.
Really? Then I couldn't figure this out. Is there a difference between the trial version and the full version?
Thank you for your help and I will report back to see if I can get it to work.
phonealarm does indeed allow you to shut off the notification once you either dismiss or reply to it. I don't know if it is worth 30 bucks. Is there a way to get an 'answer on open' like function for sms?
It does not however, allow me to use my contacts ringers for their incoming text messages. Is there a registry tweak out there I can do to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

sending tones during an active call

can somebody please tell me how can I send DTMF tones during a call? I searched in everywhere, but couldn't find any clear answers. do I need to install another application?
thanks for ur answers guys..
(HTC Diamond, wm6.1)
as i understand dtmf is enabled by default. i use it all the time with my phonebank.
yes it is enabled in my phone too, but there is no option to send DTMF tones. I am not talking about hearing those tones while dialling a number. what I mean is I made a phone call and connected, and then I want to send a number from my contacts. this is very practical when using the calling cards.
thanks
Press the keypad soft key(left) to bring the phone keypad.
I know it's not "hearing" the tones, as I said I use them to get access to my bank via the phone and that naturally involves quite a few numbers to be received by the other end. And this is carried out rather silently. Unfortunatly I haven't seen a "send number with DTMF" option. Maybe you indeed have to get an extra app to get that to work. The only place i've ever seen an option to even choose DTMF being enabled whatsoever is in schap's advanced config. I can vaguely recall such an option on an old Nokia pone. Sorry though for not being able to help.
ok, thanks for your comments. I appreciate if anyone lets us know if finds such a program.
I use DTMF tones to navigate in my voicemail and everything works fine here.

Need Custom SMS/MMS Notification based on Contact

Hi.
I am a System Admin, as well as a member of a Rural Fire Brigade.
I need a way so that I can differenciate between different sources of SMS..
i.e. One contact is for missed pings to the servers - low priority, another is for servers down - higher priority, call out for the brigade - high priority and loud wake up tone
can anyone give me some advice on how to do this. I know I can do different ring tones for mobile calls but what about SMS contacts etc.
Many thanks for any help
Dave
I´ll need the same thing...
Once I used to have a sms chat software, but it corrupted messages often so I discontinued using it, I thing it was vito, but don´t remember
Well.. I don't know of any free solution for this.. but Electricpocket Ringo does this job very well.. it allows u to assing custom sms/ringtone to individual contacts and groups. No individual mms tone though..
maybe also magiccall will do what you are looking for
hey all~
i asked basically the same question recently. i was directed tot he freebie mortring, after fiddleing a lil (to make my own sounds work) i got it working pretty well
~j
hey all~
so i found what, in my opinion, is the best FREE text message (and call) custom tones program....
its called oist (google it as i don't have the link handy) and it allows you to set custom tones (wav format only) for:
calls
texts from unknown senders
texts from everyone
texts from specific numbers
sent text message tones
it can also forward sent notifications to another number
anyhows i tested a few different ones and this seems to work best!
~j
Still playing around with it, but I think oist will work.
Now I just have to make WAV files for everyone.
I found this also but does not work on my wm6.5 touch pro... I have version 1.4
am I doing something wrong?

App to only allow calls from certain users, sending all others to voicemail?

On windows mobile, I had an app that allowed me to create a white list of users, and easily set (and unset) it so that only calls from people on that white list would ring the phone, everyone else would go straight to voicemail. Is there such an app for Android?
I used it when I was sleeping, so that calls from trusted people who wouldn't call unless it was important would wake me, while random calls from people who fail to comprehend 'I work 3rd shift and sleep during the day' would go to voicemail. I know individual entries in contacts can be set to ring straight to voicemail, but it's way too much hassle to manually set a bunch of contacts to ring to voicemail, and no help for calls from numbers NOT in my contact list.
Well There is a app called callblock that you either set it to ignore certian numbers or you set it to block unknown numbers... (theres also one for sms too)
You could use Locale like this if your shifts are consistent times:
1. Setup a 'Sleep' situation based on time conditions that mutes notifications and rings.
2. Setup a higher rated 'Trusted Contacts' situation switching the ringer on for calls from your selected contacts.
I used to use Locale like this on my G1 - I'm waiting on manually switched situations (planned upgrade to Locale) to start using Locale again on my Magic.
Just click on a contact and scroll all the way down and it should say send calls from this contact directly to voicemail or something like that

Yeah, like I said, doing this for all my contacts doesn't work, cos I'd be doing it and undoing it every day, plus this is no help for calls from numbers I don't know.

I can't find call block in the market. I searched this forum, and someone mentioned not being able to find call block after upgrading to cupcake. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3860495#post3860495
Have you got the apk for call block?
i cant even find this callblock app....there's no solution?.....for the Iphone i had like 2 apps for it and for the Fuze i had an app for it....wuz good wit the Market....i can't ever find anything....Cyrket n da barcodes are a lifesaver
Grab a copy of Reverse Lookup Plus.
You can choose to "lookup" any unknown call, get caller info, and then you can decide to added it to a blocked-list that auto sends it to voicemail.
I --believe-- this is the Call Block all grown up and renamed.
For my purposes, locale was the answer, once I got it set up properly. I set a condition of 'contact', listing the people I want the phone to ALWAYS ring if they're calling, and set the action to 'volume max'. Then I made sure this was at the top of my list in locale, since higher on the list is higher priority. The locale help has instructions about this, using 'VIP callers' as an example.
I can't seem to find Locale or Reverse Lookup Plus from the market?

The first result is locale. YOu can scan the 2d barcode on the page with your phone, and the phone will ask if you want to open the link with your browser or with the market. click market, it'll take you straight to locale.

contact app

Hey guys and girls,
Just wondering if anyone would know how to create a 'favourite' list from contacts? I'm looking for something whereby you can run through your contacts, select 'x' number of people and have them in a 'group' you could send a mass text message to?
Any info would be extremely useful.
many thanks.
?
anyone? just a few pointers would be cool. If anyone would like to collaborate on this app more the merrier!
google voice lets you send mass sms...no sms plan required.
It's not a contacts app, but Handcent will let you send mass SMS messages. Its a great app, and free. Lots of options, and think you can set groups with it. Good luck.
