1) opera mobile sucks surfing different web pages. It redirects you on certain pages to their mobile versions. This sucks as hell. For example spiegel.de will redirect you to a mobile version which is not readable in opera, the full version is.
So ist there any chance to prevent this?!
I´m assuming you are using the o2-de Version.
The Data-Hotline told me that there will be a Opera Update next Week...
my opera version (htc stock diamond with bepe's rom) doesn't redirect to mobile versions of websites. perhaps you can update to a newer version?
@jkb770, talk in english completely, please! i also do not have big problems recieving umts/hsdpa signals, and the battery lasts MUCH longer than 6 hours, perhaps you should configurice your device better, try cooked roms or wait for an update by o2, but this will need some time.
or simply bring your device back and purchase another one without all the "asia crap" - just like like wlan, gps, vga, hsdpa, wm 6.1, tf3d, gsensor, lightsensor etc. -you mentioned.
perhaps this trick will help you getting more satisfied?
sorry for being sarcastic. tell me, where's the problem with your phone? here are so many people who can help you and many threads in this forum to give you just that device you wanted when you bought it!
ok thanks for the information.
1) yes I have an german O2 device, UMTS/HSPA work quite well. I think it depends on the coverage of the UMTS net. Do you live in an bigger city? The battery last long enough and definetly more than 6 hours. But it depends on what you are doing with your device.
my device works quite well with the original ROM, no need for me to flash so far.
thanks for the information on opera. where should the new version be release? can you keep me posted?
2) can someone tell me how to bring up the carrier picture to my header?
The only thing I need is a new Radio ROM.
Or maybe its an Antenna Issue..
Tried it on two different Diamonds... The Reception level is always around 15dB weaker than on a Tytn for instance.
As long as there is no one here for cooking a new Radio ROM my Problem couldn´t be solved because the power Drain results from the countless switchings from GSM to 3G and Back.
And NO i dont want to manually switch from GSM to 3G mode before every Data Connection with tolerable speed...
P.S.: 3G Coverage around here is excellent..... my E51 always shows full Bars (-87dBm up) while the Diamond creeps around with 1-2 Bars (-102dBm)
o2 says that the Opera Update will be available from July 17th.....

perhaps you o2 guys try this one?

dunno if that works, just installing the newer version, worst case would be a hard reset...

If you go to about:config in opera you can change the user agent to firefox or ie. I found this solved this same issue.
seemed to work for me, just entered as new user agend: Mozilla/5.0
thanks!
Hi,
when i plug my diamond onto my pc, i get the question what i want to do, active sync, storage, or internet sharing. the last one is meaned to share the gprs with, for example, an lptop. but is the any posibility to use it the other way so i can use the internet of my pc on my diamond? the point is i have no wlan and i want to download an tom tom map, he asks if i want to download one for free, and that only the mobile internet charges are charged... so i dont think i can download it on my computer, and after that copy it to my phone, its realy neweded i think that my phone could connect to the internet himself...
thanks,
Bart
If i read your question correctly, you want the diamond to use your computers internet connection when connected via USB instead of a mobile data connection.
This is enabled by default; whether you use ActiveSync or Diskdrive.
You can test this by disabling your GSM connection - you're still able to do websurfing on your diamond when connected through USB.
english: sorry for the dutch, but i see he's dutch, so for sure he understands me right i explained it in dutch a 2nd time fort now his solution seems not to work for me, but when its working i'll responding in english again
Bij mij werkt 't.
wat ik doe:
* Plug telefoon in usb
* kies activesync
* zet de telefoon in flight mode / zet telefoon zender uit in comm-manager
--> navigeren naar webpagina's werkt / je telefoon gebruikt de verbinding van je pc.
ROM: 2.03
OS: vista ultimate 64
____
works for me:
plug telephone in usb
choose activiesync
set telephone to flightmode / disable all wireless communication
navigating to any web address still works --> telephone is using host's internet connection.
sorry, forget to replay, a bit strange, but later i pluged him in, it worked... i have looked at some things at the settings of netwerk ports and such, but think ive changed nothing there... anyway, it works, even with telefone antenna not switched off... i dont like it to switch it off, becouse basicly, its a phone, so i have to be able to be called.. does someone know a workaround to get an question "do you realy want to connect to gprs internet?" before connecting? now a few times i saw a (G) at the top, within a few seconds i disconnected the connection, but it would be better to get the question, becouse i would only use it when i realy nead something. for all other cases i only want unsecured home networks and my usb cable...
You can mess around a little in "settings" --> "connections", even delete the data profile.
On the other hand, i can't imagine you want to use a pocket pc phone without data connections ? most operators in NL have unlimited data for only EUR 10,- a month...
it is not my meaning to delete de gprs data connection, but i want to confim that i want to be conected to gprs. yes, i know i can get internet for €10 a month at kpn, but at this moment i dont want it, maybe in the future. the fact is that i just dont want to switch off my gsm antenna when i want to be sure i only use unsecured networks and my usb cable for internet, no, i just want to confirm the action that my mobile is connecting to the gprs internet wich i have to pay...

interesting point, especially when roaming.
Maybe this is nice as a feature request for advanced config ?
Hello,
I installed TomTom 7 with a german map. TomTom 7 is running, but doesn't get a GPS connection. "Warte auf gültiges GPS Signal..." (Waiting for a GPS Signal)
Does anybody know what to do?
Toby
there are like 100000000 theads on the gps problem.
sinse a few days my location isnt working nomore, i run the stock htc sense 2.5 ROM. and got good gps signals on copilot and Google maps.
i already did a hard reset, checked al settings
any one a solution?
Try to connect through Wifi.
Otherwise you may have to hard reset.
i already did a hard reset yesterday, with WiFi it find the location, very strange last week it worked with 3g internet to
Have you changed any settings or installed any programs since it stopped working?
not sure, i did a hardreset yesterday, just setup my mailaccount and thats it
For me the same, my location does'nt work anymore... I've changed couple of roms made hard reset afterward but no results.... What to do???
All that is left is to check your connection settings, verify that you have proxy settings disabled and network settings are correct, and weather updates are enabled.
Other than that I am out of ideas. Sorry.
I have the same problem. No location on weather updates and no location update on twitter. Seems like a bug in sense 2.5?
Just once directly after installing the new HTC stock ROM the location was found.
I would like it to work again so if there are some ideas?
Oké relax. Notify HTC. They will contact your provider. I had the same probs with Vodafone NL. I've e-mailed Vodafone and they blame HTC. But HTC said that it will only works with cell towers, not with GPS. After e-mailing to HTC they solved it with Vodafone. Vodafone send the wrong information about my location. So just wait with hard reseting. Probably HTC will tell you to do that but don't. After that they will work hard to get your problem solved. Into three weeks the problem was solved. Probably your weather tab isn't working correctly to.
Pretty f*cked up tot see that the phone says 38 celsius at night time. But in real time your at 14:00 with rain.
What you can do is go to Comm manager and shut down the device. Then update your wheater. It can't use cell towers at that point but will use your in build GPS. Just the same Bruce allready told
Good luck, e-mail HTC and your provider

Thanx Ciedric,
this morning I e-mailed HTC and received the following answer almost immediately (sorry for those who can't read Dutch):
Needless to say that this just did it. Problem solved. Thanx HTC.
Sorry guys, must use English or provide translation.
I have the same problem too. And my 3 friends..... It all broke down few weeks ago, but before weather worked. I sent mail to HTC. Im waitin for replay.
P

No Location, no gps, problem with settings
Hi All,
If this is the wrong thread, sorry. I'm new to HTC, only had it 3 days. Here's my issue. I can make calls, receive calls and send and receive sms messages.
I have a htc diamond 2 topaz, bought it on ebay from a seller in China.
It's dual sim (so may be a htc clone) but when I phoned service provider to get mms/wap/internet settings it showed up on their system as htc diamond 2. And under the battery it says "Topa 1005vdc" Touch T5388+++ and has htc on the front screen and the back cover. Telstra sent me a message with a passcode, but then no settings came through. The person on the phone gave me the telstra.mms 010.001.001 stuff to input into the connection tabs.
When I try to use the internet explorer I get this pop up "the remote party has ended this connection". I also phoned virgin, and they don't have htc settings to send to me, so they sent me an email with generic instructions. Still no joy.
So in a nutshell, I have this glorious whiz bang phone that doesn't currently do internet, email, or gps navigation. The seller installed the english language, and tom tom mapping, but left out some english for the mms page. I push new mms, and all the choices are little squares (like if you don't install the chinese character pack when internet browsing, the writing? on the page shows as little squares.) So to try and send a picture message, I don't know where the phone number goes, or the title, the right hand side button apparantly leads to the options menu, but again all little squares. I came across the advanced settings (I think) for the mms input values (or something) but nothing I can read.
On a thread somewhere, someone advised someone else to get a htc settings wizard, so I did that. It popped up and said asked if I wanted it to configure the phone. Internet still wouldn't work. So I changed the gprs connection to sim 2, it asked to configure, it did, restarted, I tried internet and still no joy.
Can anyone help me please? Thank you very much in advance,
Jane1

Thanks Frankkk, that worked for me! Problem solved.
I had the same problem, and it fixed it for me too. (i also have KPN)
This solution only works if u have the dutch provider KPN, there is no need to translate Frankks' post cause this solution only works on our dutch provider.
Mail HTC in your country if u have a similar problem.
i also have this issue with any rom!!
Just contact your local profider (call company) and HTC they will fight it out, blame each other for about two to three weeks and in the end the host, Vodafone, AT&T or any other company will solve it.
hi all i have a qtek 2020i and tomtom nav7 installed with ik maps and it works fine for 10-20mins then it just freezes for no reason and i have to do a soft reset to get the unit to function again
