I had been experiencing a lot of dropped calls and this horrible buzzing noise through my bluetooth, so I exchanged my 8125 through Cingular's XBM process. I sat down this morning to upgrade my ROM on the new phone and noticed that I have:
ROM version: 2.25.11.1 WWE
ROM Date: 5/11/06
Radio Version: 02.25.11
Protocol version: 4.1.13.12
ExtROM version: 2.25.11.102
I have heard rumors that with this ROM you unable to upgrade to any other ROM, has anyone else heard this?
If anyone is interested in this ROM please pm me and let me know. I have never uploaded a ROM to this site though so I will need someone to explain what I need to do.
It looks like you have the G4 chip. Youre not going to be able to change your rom unless you unlock the CID. and to do that you're going to need to pay a site to do that.
They don't have any programs as of now that can unlock a G4 chip CID.
gluck
Thanks for the info! That sucks, but still thanks for letting me know.
WAIT!!!!!
You didn't give enough info to determine your flash chip version.
Look at the IPL/SPL versions (have to reset and look in the upper left of screen).
If they look like 2.25 then you have G3...
If they look like 2.25.001 then you have G4.
Being as that you have a new phone and you can't install the official Cingular (HTC) update maybe you should ***** to Cingular...
Please don't take that the wrong way as I meant no harm! But you probably have the G4 chip and possibly it won't work with the HTC "official" update....
We need to put the ball in Cingular's court. How is the average person going to react to this? I think that person would return the device and possiblty switch to another provider, and why not?
Just my 2 cents worth ...
can someone put me up to speed about this "official HTC update" business? i just got my 8125 and just found out its a G3 from the advice above. so what are my advantages / disadvantages and where can i find this update? thanksabillion
Am I wrong in that you can go into the Device Information (Start -> Settings -> System) to determine which chip you have as well? Right now with the 1.8 ROM, mine says M-Systems G3 as well.

No offense taken. From what I understand I have the official Cingular (HTC) update on the phone I received via XBM. The only real problem that I thought I may have, was not being able to update in the future if something else came along. The Flash chip type that is showing in device info is simply M-Systems (doesn't say whether or not it's G3 or G4) and the IPL/SPL is 2.25 rather than 2.25.001, so by this assume (which I hate to do) that I have the G3 and not the G4. I have not tried to CID unlock as of yet, spent more time than what I wanted today installing all other apps just to get everything going.
As far as returning the phone, I am an agent manager for Cingular and got a pretty decent deal on my 8125, after selling my treo 650, and have a rate plan that . . . let's say would be impossible to match with any other wireless provider. Speaking of the average person though, I don't beleive the average person would be upgrading the ROM on their phone as the majority of people these days are carrying RAZR's; (Ahhh the sheep) and most don't have the luxury of returning their equipment outside their buyer's remorse time period, due not being able to drop $175 per line for liquidation damages. I do however appreciate your honesty and point of veiw though.
I agree on the average person (read sheepeople) ...
In your situation I would take the plunge and CID and SIM unlock it and retry again. Actually I'd downgrade to the Button 1.05, copy EnableRapi to the device and execute it, run the Lokiwiz unlock on the CID and SIM (verifying that the program reports that it was successful. The Lokiwiz program will soft reset the phone after each of those two steps if it was successful.
Good luck!

I am experiencing the same issue. Did anyone find a solution to this? No matter what I use Lockwiz etc... It still wont work. Pls Help
Thx
Beside you is possible violated area CID.In the field of CID is found SIM and CID lock. The Area CID -unique for each device .Lokiwiz -does not calculate new this area -he only modernizes given in this area.
This inscription appeared After what action?
p.s.
There is command In bootloader which destroys the area CID and others.
Check Your IMEI.If IMEI does not coincide -possible you have started this command.

I unsure that you this will help - but when I on C500 has deleted the area CID and got such message - I have restored only with the help of unlock http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ imei-check -anew calculates the area CID - unlock works through bootloader and so he does not modernize but anew calculates this area.
Try to talk with itsme in this forum -he has said that possible to calculate the new area CID -but has not described as.
p.s In Typhoon C500 and Wizard is used alike method SIM and CID blocking.
But aside from this unlock changes bootloader

WOW worked like a charm! Thanks I thought I had a brick!
I hope that this will help you.
I met several times like you situation on Wizard -but nobody did not describe after what action this has occurred.
It is Enough that 1 byte changed in the field of CID and she will be bad.
Possible during unlock or as a result other action (for instance action what other program ) has occurred the malfunction and something have changed this area.
Given area is not changed during flash ROM.

not solution to fix this problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, I can report that paying for this software and running it on my MDA fixed the data crashes problem. I tried everything I could find on the web from using the lokiwiz02b and going back to the original rom... everything in every order I could think of. I flashed back to the original ROM which I downloaded from HTC America's site w/o the SIM in the phone, ran this software after shelling out 40 bucks, once it came back up I shut down, put my SIM in, booted and sure enough it worked.
Here is how I got in this position. I had a warranty replacement phone from a bad screen that kept getting out of calibration. I put my SIM and MINISD in and powered it on. I flashed to the 2.17 custom rom. It rebooted and I got the data crashes error.
Of course this is no guarantee. I see above where someone posted that it didnt fix their problem.
I just flashed up to the 2.21 custom rom and everything works fine.
I noticed after I started all this BS that there are two bad pixels on the replacement phone! SOB!
it worked for me too. but why does this happen in the first place? I only got this error from one of the two MDA's that I have flashed, the other one worked just fine.....
My screen died as well, got a replacement in. Blam drashed as well.
Ran all the loki stuff, and it IS the IMEI that causes it. Used this unlocker program, and it does work. I am on 2.17 now and about to load 2.21.
This is my last resort...
I tried every possible solution to solve this same issue and I am going to shell out the cash, but my problem is that I can't get my IMEI from my phone (#06#) like the imei-check website said to without my SIM in there. But with the SIM in there I can't type #06#. So how did everyone get their IMEI? Should I just use the number on the box, and just pray that it is the same as my phone?
Thanks

u can also get your imei by going to start/settings/system/device information and tap the indetity tab
Had a pain with this myself....had to cough up the money and unlock my phone that way but everything works fine now.
I have read all the horror stories, and even though I bought the phone on ebay and have no warranty, I decided to do it anyway.
I plugged into the back usb ports
I disabled antivirus, firewall, network connection, and even stopped all the process I felt were ok to stop
I charged the phone to 100%
I did everything right. As the install was proceeding, it got to 80%, the progress bar changed from blue to red, and stayed like that for 5 minutes. I got nervous, so I went to a different computer to get on this website to do some more research.
I am not sure what happened next, because I heard the little melody that plays when the phone first starts up after a hard reset. So I went back over to the phone to see. I went through the little sequence and got to the today screen.
And everything was a-ok. The phone is even still sim-unlocked, which surprised me. I was told it would have to be re-sim-unlocked after a rom upgrade.
And when it was doing the screen alignment, the little cross hairs were slow and jumpy with the old rom. With this new one, it moved fast and smooth. I am anxious to see if there are other speed increases.
I figured I would share this for the benefit of those who are hesitating on doing the official rom upgrade from Cingular. All my reservations were for nothing.
Congrats! And as for the SIM unlocking ... if done correctly ( read : SIM unlocked) it's not going to "relock"
You followed the steps smartly, disabling un-needed services, AV and firewall, etc. Leaving the computer alone and not minimizing the update screen while continuing to surf the web, etc .. priceless.
Best wishes!
When upgrading ROMS, does it matter if the SIM card is installed into the 8125 or left out? I have SIM unlocked mine and like it very much, but am very tempted to downgrade and do the CID unlock with the older ROM. I have read the forums a ton, but cannot ever recall seeing anything specific to leaving or, removing the SIM card when doing ROM upgrades.
Thanks for any input!! I have learned TONS out here!

it doesn't really matter. the only problem i could see is...
if you use a sim card that does not belong to that locked unit (like a tmobile sim in a locked 8125 from cingular) and try to unlock it, when one of the unlocking programs tries to install itself and ask for permission, you may get problems with constant popups of messages (on your 8125) telling you that you have an incorrect sim.
i just leave my sim out, though i've unlocked it fine before with proper sim inside.
Do you mind sharing what rom did you upgrade too? i have a cingular 8125 phone with tmobile service. I am afraid i might fry my phone...

I dont think your carrier should matter. I have cingular, but my sim is the old ATT wireless sim card. (So my phone had to be sim-unlocked for me to use it.)
It does matter what rom you use (unless you unlock the cid which I did not) I downloaded it from www.cingular.com/microsoft It will direct you to the htc website to download the rom.
I installed the upgrade on mine with the sim card in, and it worked fine and stayed sim-unlocked.
I have reflashed the ROM on my TyTN II to the HTC Windows 6.1 version downloaded from their site. Everything works OK, except the phone will not accept incoming calls and i am unable to make calls out. Since this the unit has been reflashed with approx 5 different ROM's from Duttys Series (Which i had on when i purchased the unit) but it still has the same issue. It has also now had a different radio version put on and the SPL reflashed. Even after all this it still says no to incoming or outgoing calls. The strange thing is, that it does register on Vodafones network and i get a full signal, but no 3G. The unit is not locked as i have run an unlocker on it as well. I can send text messages OK.
Please can anyone help me with this problem, i am completley out of ideas and unable to use my phone.
Cheers.
Is the Camera working? I know that the tilt has many radios, could it be that you just need to try more of them?
Yes the camera worksfine.
I have tried a few different radios but knowing which one is the correct one is going to be tricky.
Do you know where i can get more of these?
Thanks
Have you tried disabling 3G (force GSM)?
Unfortunatley 3G dosen't seem to be available anyway. (Don'tknow if this is compunding the problem).
I have tried it on GSM but still no luck.
Don't know if the ROM info below will help:
R 1.58.16.27
G 25.61.30.03H
D 3.14.00.00
I have spoken to HTC and they said i need to send it for repair, but i would rather sort it myself. They wont even tell me if it is in warranty!!

well to be honest with you, that radio you are using won't work with the rom available on HTC website. Just saying.
I thought the rom they provide is accompanied with a radio?
try 1.65.20.29 or 1.65.16.25 or 1.65.17.56
Thanks.
I will give them a go.
also after you flash the radio and you do not have any service go into comm manager and make sure airplane mode is off.
You may want to upgrade your hardspl version as well to 3.28, 3.29, or 3.56
Good luck
OK, next, and probably final, installment.
Have tried flashing to a hard SPL and changing the ROM and Radio to various versions but it still fails.
I have now flashed it back to stock HTC settings as shown below:
ROM 3.28.405.0 WWE
Radio 1.65.17.56
Protocol 25.83.40.02H
Soft SPL 3.28.0000
I have checked the CID and it is a Super CID (all zero's).
I have tried the radios you guys recommended but all in vain.
I have also tried another providers SIM (O2), and the unit would not find the network and register.
I have spoken to Vodafone UK and they say my unit is not barred or blocked in any way (My SIM works in other phones).
I believe i have now come to the end of what i can try.
Does anyone have any other ideas before i turn my TyTN II into a very expensive paper weight.
Thanks.
That radio isn't stock.
You should not be attempting to flash anything without hardspl installed. But you must have hardspl installed if you purchased it with dutty's rom already on it.
Hold down camera button and insert stylus at the same time then report back with what it states on the tri color screen.
On the tr colour screen it reports:
KAIS130
SPL-3.28.0000
CPLD-8
Does anyone know if the information supplied below is correct, as i am still having major issues.
On the tri colour screen it reports:
KAIS130
SPL-3.28.0000
CPLD-8
Thanks
OK, i have taken some advice and flashed a HardSPL to the unit.
Since then i have flashed a couple of Duttys ROM's (The unit came with Dutty's) but it's still not able to make or recieve calls.
I think i should try and send it back to HTC for them to have a look.
Does anyone have any experience with HTC?
Thanks
Exactly which of Dutty's ROMs are you running now? And what radio version have you flashed? If you have a ROM/Radio combo that are compatible with each other and still cannot make calls, then it looks like you will need to send the phone in for service.
Before sending the phone in, be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Reverting SPL for Warranty thread prior to shipping it. HTC will check your SPL and ROM version, and if they are not OEM standards, you will be charged for the repair and lose the remainder of your warranty.
Thanks for all your help NotATreoFan.
The unit has been repaired by HTC under warranty. They have repalced the main board in the unit, and it now works fine.
Thanks

You are most welcome.
I got me a Touch Diamond in the rounder shape of the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV. It came in a sealed box from eBay and I've used unlocking software that I also found on eBay. As it turns out, this software seems to originate from this forum.
As far as I've researched it, right after the lock was removed, the phone started sending SMS messages to the number SMS032837 each time it is reset (since I've never used this phone locked it *could* have done this already, but I doubt it). Even if I switch off the GSM radio, and then reset, the phone waits for the radio to come back on and immedately sends a message.
I have no clue to what's the message is about or whoever is the recipiant but that's not the main issue here; it should not do this, period.
ROM: 1.37.110.3
Radio: 1.20.OliNex
Protocol: 52.26a.25.09U
Anyone any idea what is going on?
TIA,
XDArjen
sorry i dont have any idea
try this steps
1-try hard reset
if not work
2- you have an old ROM so
upgrade it to the latest ROM for your country or use cooked ROM if you want
Could a program similar to RemoteTracker be installed on your Diamond ?
That would explain the SMS, as the software detects that you changed the SIM card.
yea sounds like some program like remotetracker, try flashing a new ROM, as i assume it's build into the ROM by the seller, no idea why though.

Hi,
I`ve got MDA Compact IV on T-Mobile UK with original ROM and Radio (I just need to) and I`ve noticed that after every re-boot it sends above mentioned by you text.
Actually, it sends 2 texts: 1st to 32837 (on the on-line bill it`s clasified as
"unbranded" and it`s free of any charge)
2nd to 100203005 (clasified as "SMS text messaging" and it is also free).
I was surprised as well, so started to investigate.
I`ve found that above texts got something to do with W`n Walk service and T-Mobile My Faves and they are like a system messages.
They are NOT using any of the tariff allowances and they are completely free.
I`m sure because I`m checking my bill very carefully every month and it is my 3rd bill since I started using Compact IV.
I think that every HTC Diamond and MDA Compact IV sends those texts when logging into GSM Networks, but not every network provider shows them on their bills. With T-Mobile it shows on My T-Mobile On-Line account, but not on any paper or electronic bill.
There is more info about the case on other forums, just "google" them numbers and you will find it.
So, DON`T PANIC, everything is in order.
P.S.
My handset is unlocked and I was using foreign SIM card with, whilst on holiday and I haven`t noticed any extra charges for above texts, nor any other problem.
Regards.

Hey snark_be,
I'm not sure, it's a brand new T-Mobile that I got in a sealed box. The owner got it as an upgrade but didn't want it. So it came locked to T-Mobile and I had to unlock it since I'm not a T-Mobile customer.
Could T-Mobile be using this tracking method? The seller of the unlocker could have added it, I don't know, he hasn't answered my email (yet).
The SMS goes anytime the device boots, not just after inserting the SIM.
HTC ROM upgrade site rejects my serial number if I want to download a new ROM.

That was the plan, but that seem's a bit of a hornet's nest. Can I assume safely that the T-Mobile is a true HTC Touch Diamond? Will I be able to return to non-brick if something doesn't work? I mean when I install Hard-SPL first (it's installed already by the unlocker, but an older version, like 1.24)?

Tom, they show up on my bill, so I have to pay for them. And my provider logs them as International calls.
I don't have the luxury of sitting idle because it make the device useless as a phone. I will peruse the forum about this matter but I was already planning upgrading the ROM as I find the device very unresponsive.
have a look in the rom section here and install a new one

Just flash the latest HardSPL, 1.93 I think, and then head over to the Diamond Wiki and download/flash the newest WWE ROM you find (1.94 I think).
I have a T-Mobile branded Diamond that has a hardware fault (no USB connection, short battery life and overheating).
I managed to flash it back to the original T-Mobile ROM, but forgot about the SPL, so T-Mobile are refusing to repair under warranty.
And now it's ended up bricked whilst I was trying to put the SPL back to normal too.
So with T-Mobile as a no go option, what are people's experiences dealing directly with HTC over warranty, as surely they can't deny responsibility just because someone chooses to change software versions?
Why not figure it out to unbrick then load all the original spl and rom on it and take it back to them, like a few days later.. If they say something like.. 'you already bought this in with diff software' ... say...'proove it, bullsh*t, now get your manager!' enough arguing and threats always work imo.
That was exactly my thought, get the right SPL back on there and then deny I had ever changed anything (which I what I've said to them so far).
But the problem is that I am stuck on the bootloader (showing the new non-T-mobile SPL of course) with no way of flashing anything else into it due to the dead USB...
