To prevent confusion I wanted to state again that I am going to be releasing a ROM based on the 2.26 Final ROM, I just need some time to play with it. Expect it in a few days...

What is in it
We've made some progress decoding what is in the extended rom, documented here:

You may find it useful and I apologize for guessing that you wouldn't have time for a device you no longer use.
what benefits will this rom have over the operators versions...?

I think I love you!
thanks for your hard work. I've been using your 2.24 rom for a while now with no complaints.
Do you think you'll be going to make custom roms after this one?
Yoohoo! Thank you Xelecin.
as an EX-SK2 user, xelecin is probably the ONLY reason why i haven't converted to SK3
Xelencin. How's the sidekick III? Do you miss the Wizard yet? Have you played with th TyTN?
I hope T-Mobile is successful in acquiring the spectrum needed for 3G and will be offering 3G devices next year. I'd hate to go back to Cingular or Verizon.

as far as im aware t-mob usa are currently rolling out 3G as we speak... have you heard/read something different....
I don't think T-Mobile has enough spectrum to offer UMTS at this time, that is what they hope to win in the FCC auction that starts Aug 9.
How is the work going? Really looking forward to this ROM. Is there any way to flash it on to Qtek 9100 with your previous ROM (2.24)?
BTW, I've got some weird bug - 9100 (xelencin 2.24, also tested with Mr.Clean 2.24a) can't connect to WPA-protected WiFi networks. Unsecured and WEP are fine.
Anyone met something alike?
And also, what do I need to do to downgrade to Qtek ROM 2.18 RUS (for testing WiFi)?
Any hope for Java in the custom 2.26 ROM?

Wait a minute... are you kidding me? Did Xelecin really dump the MDA for the Sidekick III? I can't believe that, wow I thought that he was loving the MDA like we were. Well Thanks for continuing to upgrage the roms. Why am I some how very dissappointed though?
Your new rom would be great, I just tried to update with the T-Mobile rom and got an "Invalid Vender ID" message. I'm using your 2.24 now.

Anyone have an original shipped Vodafone ROM? Upgraded to the Cingular release and wanting to revert back, didn't see it posted in the wiki or FTP.
I'd like to do the same thing actually. I think the Cingular ROM has made my 750 a little unstable. Either that or Cingular's doing stuff to the network in my area and it's affecting my phone. I think it's the Cingular ROM though.
I too am seeing funny things going on with the Cingular ROM installed. I want to go back to the Voda ROM (original version).
I have search MANY forums all over the world and cannot find the original Voda ROM for this phone.
Whoever gets it, please let me know so I can get it.
Thanks
Did anybody find it?
You will need to wait until Vodafone releases an update for the Treo 750v before you can restore their ROM.
I have a original Vodafone ROM, well its unlocked but I don't know how to copy it, if someone will guide me through it, I wouldn't giving it up to everyone.
Vodafone ROM please?
Hi,
I just bought a Used 750v - it was originally the Vodafone 750v but it looks like the Cingular ROM has been installed on it.
I am looking to Restore it back to the Factory Default.
thanks!
I hear new Vodafone rom for the 750v will be out at the end of the month (End of Jan), this will also be of a higher AKU... Still no HSDPA support, that comes in March/April time with another update....

So if you already have the new build, why don't you share it, or tell us when to expect the new rom? I can't wait for a new rom, I hope it fixes some nasty bugs on my treo..
I'd rather have a Cingular ROM than a Vodafone ROM with AKU2.6...AKU2.3 and AKU2.6 aren't really different at all. But an AKU3.x ROM, now we're talkin...
I'd rather have a Voda ROM since I don't want/need the Cingular customizations. I also don't use MSN messenger so that one is a non-issue.
Hi there,
Have spotted that Calico had an original French-ROM 750v.
Calico, if it remained untouched, are you considering exchanging it with my original English-ROM version? Where are you based?

Hi there,
I have a T-Mobile MDA Vario and I'm interested in upgrading the ROM in it. These are the details displayed on the flash screen when i turn it on:
IPL: 1.06
SPL: 1.06
GSM: 01.12.10
OS: 1.6.2.4
From what I've read, I can assume this is a G3 model (which makes my life easier)
Can people tell me what is the most recent upgrade I can install? I don't care if the ROM is not T-Mobile.
Thanks!

Yes you do have a G3 which like you said will make your life easier. The first thing you need to do is spend some time reading. Only after becoming totally familiar with the process should you flash your phone.

Thanks for confirming that I have a G3 rkwyte2 - from what I've read, there seem to be a lot more roms out there for that revision of the software. I'm not going to go doing anything to my phone too quickly - I can see from other threads that you can seriously mess things up if I don't go about this job properly.
I'm tempted to upgrade to the latest Qtek flash - that way I'm independent of the various carriers out there. Does this sound like a good idea? Do people rate one flash over another? If so, what do people recommend?
Thanks

I think everyone has their personal favorite. I have used many different ROMs and they all have good and not so good points. I really like Molski's latest 2.6 ROM it is very nice and would most likely fit what you want. The thread is quite long for that one but the first page has most everything you need as far as info goes.

I checked out Molski's website and his ROM looks interesting. Would you say that the offical ROMs are more/less stable than homebrew ROMs?

I don't believe the WM6 ROM that I got contains a Radio ROM, so I'm still using my old Radio ROM 2.47.11, which I think it's the latest.

Would that be on the US network?
GSM when it boots is the radio rom right?
I seem to be experiencing some problems most notably the reception has gotten worse (in terms of # of bars) since upgrading from your molski ROM to the WM6 rom, as well as the prompts for roaming.

all the same afaik (all of them are quadband, so no problem) - just go ahead with the UK one!
Heh... when searched failed me, I kept trying with google, and oddly enough, it found an instance of "2.19" and "radio" that the internal search did NOT find. sure enough, that thread had a post where someone (with an american flag symbol in his info) said he used that rom, so i tried it out. I called myself, and the call went thru, so I would say its safe for now. Thank you for your reply though, I was expecting a "search for it" reply if any.
I am picking up a tmobile mda this weekend. I have a few things I would like to do to it but all the talks about the different roms and kitchens, radio etc can be a bit confusing. Here is what I would like to do maybe you can point me in the right direction.
1. I am an att customer so it will need to be unlocked
2. I would like windows mobile 6
3. Touch would be a big plus
4. I would also like to use the contacts that are scrollable that I have seen on a few youtube vids.

If you are not sure then go through the links in the 2nd post. If CID unlocked then you can install WM6 but again go through the links in 2nd post and the sticky thread on "how to flash" in this forum.

I have a few questions in regards to the Treo 750 WM6 rom
Will the AT&T rom work within Australia?
If no why not?
What skillsets are required to make your own rom?
I sincerely thank you for any help.
This should be in the technical discussion. No need for a new thread.
Moderator, can you delete this thread, please?
Hi snowdonx, welcome to xda-dev.
I don't see why it wouldn't work in Australia - but I can't say for sure so someone else will have to give you a definitive answer there.
As far as making your own ROMs - everything you need to know can be learned here. I'd suggest reading some of the newer guides in the Hermes forum to get started.
To give you a head start - there's a couple basic things to be aware of. First, newer devices like the Hermes and Treo 750 will not allow flashing of custom ROMs, or more correctly, ROMs that aren't signed with a carrier or manufacturer certificate. The bootloader (SPL) enforces this. So the first step in getting custom ROMs on a device is putting in place a modified bootloader that allows unsinged ROMs. The number of folks who can do this is very limited compared to the number of folks who can build customer ROMs.
Creating the ROMs, in a nutshell, involves dumping an existing ROM using tools available here, making modifications, rebuilding the ROM, and flashing.
Hope you enjoy your stay here. =)

Yup. Works a treat on Telstra and if you read through the thread you will see it works on Optus and Vodafone too.

Does it work on the NextG network on Telstra? i'm pretty sure it should since HSDPA is included on the Treo ROM Upgrade... and how do I get the telstra software and settings onto the treo as well? Do I need to unlock the sim at all?

Hi, I'm in Aus aswell and thinking of getting an unlocked 750V from ebay......just a question about how the IMEI is changed after upgrading to the UNOFFICIAL WM6, what will happen if the OFFICIAL WM6 rom becomes available...are we able to upgrade without problems....i know this has been asked before on other threads but no one seems to know the answer......i guess those that have upgraded to the leaked roms will find out when they try to upgrade the official rom when it becomes available......
Just try the official WM6 ROM in the upload dir on the ftp:
uploads/Treo 750Cheetah/WM6 ROM Cheetah Treo 750v
Download the NBH, put it on an empty memory card and insert it into the Treo
Push the sidebutton (below the volume keys), the right softkey below the display and reset with the stylus (all together) and the bootloader starts and you can upgrade the treo to WM6 with HSDPA enabled.
Cheers mate!
thanks, also what are the main differences between 750 and 750v models?.....apart from the word 'vodafone' stamped on the actual phone.....

the main difference is that the Vodafone firmware has Vodafone presets and Vodafone theme next to the standard Windows themes and settings. (Customisation for Vodafone). In the original WM5 rom, there was no messenger available. In WM6 the Live Messenger is back ! Other than that, I don't think there are other differences.
this ROM appears to come from Vodafone (AU)
CE OS: 5.2.1239 (Build 17746.0.2.4)
Firmware version: 1.47.02.00
so far so good...
So it's almost the same, just Firmware version on AT&T is newer: 1.47.02.00 VS Firmware version: 1.47.25.00
yes, nothing unexpected. (баян)

Aight. Thanks for the info.
