Upgrading using Vista - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hey,
I'm just wondering - has anyone found a way to upgrade their devices whilst using Vista?
When running the upgrade ap it's reqeusting for Activesync, but you cannot install Activeync on Vista because it has the new Mobile Center.
I'm looking for ways around this, but has anyone already got it working?

Windows Vista USB driver problem

Hi all, ive been looking on here for a while now (and several other places too) for a fix for this. i have a cingular 8125 that works fine with all versions of activesync on windows XP, but on my home computer i have Vista RC1. i have downloaded WMDC and instaled that and i get all the way through the installation fine, then when i go to sync, it loads all the USB driver untill it gets to on that says "Unspecified Device" and fails. I havve tried the "WHOS" reg patch and several other things inculding checking for udates with the device attached, installing with the device attached....you get the pic..its bewen driving me nuts. Anyone either kow of a fix for this or have the driver(s) for me to install on the computer? Thanks in advance
Corey
Also...this has always been an issues since the stock 1.8 rom. i then tried the stock cingular 2.25 rom, the first release of the molski/faria/kyphur/etc. 3.3 rom, and the PDAVeit ver.2 WM6 rom and all have given me the same result. any ideas? i cant seem to find any driver anywhere, and im starting to think that maybe i have something wrong with my device.
bump for some help?
Vista Buisness N
Vista Buisness N confirmed not to work with active sync. Wait until Microsoft releases a patch. Probably tommorow
cool, thanks for the info...i hope it works on RC1 too.... do you know if it will be available from windows update or will i need to search microsofts webpage to get it? thanks for the help
I have vista ultimate got it a few weeks back and i ran into a problem with my mda because there is no active sync. I had to get the sync center version from RC1 to get it to sync right. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx thats where i got it from you can give it a try.

RUU under Vista
WMDC works fine for me (RTM build). The problem I have is eing unable to run RUU under Vista - it crashes after my Wizard goes into bootloader.
Someone seen this too or am I the only one unlucky?
bootloader
This is a very common problem. Ithink it has something to do with the rapi connections
Not sure this works, but have you made sure that the remote-NDIS network card is set to have the IP address assigned by the DHCP instead of using a static ip address (default)?
I am weary of upgrading to WM6 or Vista due to compatability issues. Even though the tech whore side of me is foaming at the mouth to them up and running I have read and think there are still too few drivers and support for Vista. Plus I need $134 to upgrade from business to ultimate

vista kind of sucks but wm6 is great.
Vista is just really annoying to use. I have Vista/sever 2003/xp on my laptop and I almost always use server. I think mostly because I develop web apps. Server just works, no crap.
WM6 is a very very welcome upgrade over wm5 and overall it seems less buggy than even the latest AKU's for WM5.

Vista Problem?

Yea when i connect my PDA to my computer (Running Vista) It seems like it just sits there and trys over and over to connect but never does any ideas to fix this?
Anyone? who can help me?
most of the time.....its because of vista. microsoft hasn't really worked out the bugs in mobile center. i had to use my mothers windows XP computer to connect my ppc in order to flash a new rom onto it.
hope that helps.
..sane..

Flashing to WM6.1 question

Hello all,
For some reason I can't get my Tilt to connect to either one of my Vista machines or my XP box. Not sure what the problem is. I've Googled and googled and still can't get it to work.
So my question is, seeing that I can't via Active Sync or WMDC is that going to present a problem when ATT releases the official 6.1 Rom?
Thanks
David
Disregard, finally got it working.

Activesync and Windows 7

Hello there!
Lately, I've read a lot about Activesync not wanting to recognise the Xperia when using windows 7. anyone know anything about this and maybe, just maybe...have a solution?
Today for the first time I've connected my X1 to Windows 7.
The system has downloaded a new software named Windows Mobile Device Center, it configured for 2-3 minutes then it has synchronized successfully all my information.
So my experience is very good. The software is not ActiveSync but what matter about the name ?
Yes, that did the trick!

No ActiveSync in Windows 7. Windows Mobile Device Center recognises the devices and handles the Sync.
I can sucessfully sync my X1 on 2 different laptops with Win7.

HTC TyTN II - Windows 7 - Help Please!!!

I've almost but given up on this, can someone please help me. I'm trying to get my HTC TyTN II to sync with my windows 7 ultimate laptop (64 bit)
I'm trying to install windows mobile device centre 6.1 (the latest, I've downloaded and tried it again a few minutes ago). I've tried both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the software and it just won't install It gives me the dialog box asking me 'Do you want the windows mobile device centre to make changes to your computer' If I click on 'yes' that's it, nothing else happens
Is there any hope? I can't believe microsoft could have released such a ****ty os with no proper testing with windows mobile devices. This used to work flawlessly with activesync
Please, any help will be really appreciated. I've seen some posts about people having luck with this
Run it as administrator = problem solved.
