imei trade - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I purchased a imate pda2k from ebay but its imei is blocked in my country. Anyone in the same situation?? I will be willing to trade imei numbers. Please pm me for more info.

If you're in a position to change the IMEI, why not just buy a semi-free non-blocked phone from ebay/retail? I don't know if you'll have any luck with ebay where you are, but you can go to the highstreet and buy a brand new pay as you go phone for around £15 here, including the equivalent in talk time.

Better than buying a phone to get an IMEI you can ask a friend with an old phone to throw in the bin and get its IMEI or... check any GSM forum that allows posting of IMEI to generate unlock codes and 'steal' an IMEI from a country you'll probably never visit (like Japan, Philipines, etc...) and this is the reason why IMEI numbers should never be exposed in public places nor given to someone you don't know nothing about

Get off!
Save your money, check http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=60087 instead.
IMEI changing is illegal in many countries, but for some countries that block IMEIs on phones not purchased within that country (e.g., Turkey), there's no alternative. Better check the laws in your country first!
er, what???
Good luck with that Keef, I hope you can get a signal for GPRS from your prison cell.

Help please with imei...

Hi,
I lost my g1 while snowboarding and I am devastated. I can't afford 400 or so dollar for a new one so my friend said he would help me out by cashing in on his warranty. However, he told me that if he were to call in and replace his g1 and they would deactivate the imei number so his phone wouldn't work on the network anymore (well he is giving me the new one).
Is there a way around this and how would we reactivate the imei number. Please help...

Milestone blocked by operator (blocked IMEI)

Hello!
I found cheap milestone for sell, but it was blocked by operator (could be stolen, I don't know, the seller says it's because the guy who selled him had an obligation) now I wonder if I buy it can I unblock it? and use it normaly?
only CDMA phones can have bad ESN, so you are most likely looking at a CDMA Milestone (like Telos one).
if that's really what you need, it can't be unlocked but it can be flashed to a different CDMA carrier and should work fine.

no it's a gsm phone the seller says it was blocked after some time he used it... now he is selling it for cheap price because he cannot use it, I'm not sure if it got bad ESN, but it's blocked as I understood from his words, and not for sim as it seems?
If it is gsm and it's locked out, it could be locked out using it's IMEI number which cannot be changed by flashing rom.
Sent from my Milestone using XDA App
so if it's stolen as I guess (even though he says it was blocked because the owner didn't pay the bills) where I will get the IMEI unlock code

What?
I think you misunderstand what an unlock code is. A subsidy unlock code will allow you to use the phone on a different network by switching the sim. This will NOT allow you to unlock a banned IMEI on the same network.
If you want an unlock code, i have had very good service from www.gsmliberty.net.
If you are hoping to stay on the same network, there is nothing you can do to change the IMEI and are out of luck.

well is it possible to change imei? and how will I know which one to choose? also can I use imei from another phone that I'm not using? or it supposed to be motorola milestone one?
it is not possible to (legally) change the IMEI as far as I know.
if it was, that would open thousands of possibilities of fraud, even identity theft in some cases.
for example, many apps, providers, etc. link your IMEI to your bills.
see why that would be bad?
i get from your posts that you didn´t buy the phone yet?
i would advise you NOT TO BUY IT.
it sounds VERY fishy.
thanks, probably I won't buy it even though it costs 60$

[Q] Change IMEI to work in Turkey ?????

Hi, i will travel to Turkey for several month, if you didnt buy the Phone in Turkey the carriers will block your phone after 1 month of using it,
you have to pay $100 to register you IMEI to Turkish carriers, its a waste of money since i already bought an HTC One Unlocked version,
click this link to understand if you didnt, http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/details/Communications/registration.html
so here is my problem, if i changed my IMEI to another phone's IMEI will i be able to use the phone there ? and if so is it safe to do it ?
will i Brick my phone or harm anything?
if you have another solution please tell me because i need HTC One for navigation in Turkey i cant go without it, and i certainly DONT want to pay $100 just for being able to use a FREE GSM carrier.
Thanks

In this country (UK) and a lot of others changing the IMEI number is illegal !
Additionally the IMEI is usually hard coded to your device and cannot be changed anyway.

And discussing things like this is not allowed on here...
The act of changing IMEI is illegal, so discussion of changing IMEI is forbidden. Thread closed.

If the rear glass of the phone has not been replaced then you can check the phone imei.

cant tell. It looks like just metal on the back. Its the note 5 gold version. I checked the imei through phone dialer. Its legit for now. Hope it stays that way because I cant find a way to fix it besides forking out money to random people who probably will just take the money and not be able to fix it anyways. Fingers crossed.

I don't think so, if it's matches the imei on the back of the phone with the phones IMEI then there is nothing to worry & moreover fake imei are hard to work so in my view it's totally fine.
I have removed the attached pic.. Cheers..!
If you hurry and pay now to have a company sim unlock it now, it won't be able to be blacklisted as it will show up as in unlocked phone on network lists.

More than likely the account in which the phone is connected to will be closed with money still owed on the account. At that time, the carrier will Blacklist a phone. So at this time the account could still be in good standing until it gets closed for non-payment of Bill

thanks. Im still confused as to how sim unlocking could bypass this? was the other poster simply referring to being able to use on another carrier?
This was the ebay listing wording "The phone has a BAD IMEI, LOST and/or BLOCKED and can NOT be activated or used on T-Mobile. Sold AS-IS for IMEI. SIM card NOT included. " Well mine is activated for now at least
I wonder if tmobile will unblock it if I call and tell them I was sold a blocked phone on ebay.

I have no idea but usually yes if it's stolen or some legality issues then you might end up in trouble but I don't know why you chose to buy out a phone with no security over your investment. Again you can't change your imei & if you do then you will land in some serious issues.
Sold as is means they are not going to be liable or responsible for anything.

not necessarily. any company can blacklist a phone for whatever reason. there are companies you can pay that have access to the list and they can manually remove the imei. some times a tech will submit the imei for blacklisting but the system will kick it out since it shows up as unlocked. sometimes a tech just shrugs it off and doesn't want to deal with it when it shows the phone as unlocked(paid off). kinda like how you can't report a phone stolen, that's out of contract... else anyone could have any imei blocked. not saying it won't happen but it's a little more security for you. so far, every phone i've bought on ebay that was potentially about to be blacklisted (money owed), i had sim unlocked. i've never had any of those phones lock on my.
