RE: Extra Storage
Another method I used.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Alpine/Extra Storage unlocker
Copy the exe in the zip file to your Alpine, then tap to run on pda. It doesn't show a finished message.
I use 'resco explorer', with show hidden etc in the settings, I haven't tried to vew with only the standard file explorer, it may work as well.
Goto Windows on your pda and you should see a folder called 'shared' it should show 60.9mb free. If you do use Resco Explorer and hold your stylus on the shared folders and select properties, you can change all the attributes (Hidden, Archive, Read, Write and ROM), although I haven't needed to.

Hello
I'm be happy that a way seems to be real, but it do not work on my 2020I.
I select unlock Extrom, but the Extrom is no visible, so i select Unhide and it say to me to do soft reset. After it, i don't see any Extrom. Only way is to use original LoadVisk, but it is writeProtected.
Where i am in fault ?
Thank's

I used the Loadvisk on my XDAIIi and I can write to it etc (Shared folder in windows).
Use Resco file explorer to change the shared folder attributes. Make sure you configure Resco to show hidden files etc.
Heres the link

Loadvisk
Here is Loadvisk program I used on XDAIIi, it may help
Confused loadvisk does not access ext rom?????
I'm confused about loadvisk. I thought it unlocked the ext ROM, but no it only gives access to your RAM not to extended rom.
I tried the other tool on here unhide, unlocked, where do I access the rom in my file explorer?
so please ignore my previous posts about loadvisk.
How can I reverse loadvisk to hide the shared folder again?
sorry if this is a bit jumbled, I'm just finding out about this stuff myself
Thank's for reply
But it do not work.
If i use loadvdisk_493.exe, it show Extended_Rom as entry, that is the same result as LoadVdisk.exe that exist in Windows directory. I can't modify files inside Extended_Rom and it as this name, not Shared folder. It is not a folder but new media and with resco 5.22 i can't change attributes because it do not permit to media, only with files or folder.
Secondly, if i use Exttrom_200_250.exe, i can't write to in Extended_Rom.
Is this write for you ??

RE: EXT Memory
Hi,
Loadvisk has nothing to do with extended memory, it creates a virtual disk of your Program RAM (see 'Memory' on you PDA). This shows as a folder called 'shared' in Windows, when you copy files to this folder, the look at your memory, you will see that it stores in your program section of your memory and so I wouldn't bother with it.
I have had a good look around and I can find nothing to unlock the true extended memory, only the tool you used to unhide it.
You can flash your extended memory with the 2577 method, but this is not ideal for users who just wnat to access and write to ext memory.

There is another method to write to the extended rom but is far more involved than the method DAz mentioned. It does actually write to the Extended ROM so it therefore survives a hard reset and allows you customise the ROM with programs and remove stuff you don't use like the bloody annoying O2 active crap.
I've used it and can say that with a little patience it is fairly easy to do, although trial and error is required sometimes. Some programs don't seem to install from a hard reset however most do (Pocket Plus, Resco Explorer, TCPMP etc work fine).

Happy modding.

my XDA IIi storage write protect 3 years
I want to write make my application package a part of existing ROM and wants wheneever set hard set it installed (Dont want to burn ROM for each type of machine)
OR
once my program intsalled in memory, hard reset should not disturb it and will remain at machine startup
any luck?
Thanks,
Khurram
Hi Khurram!
There is a relatively simple solution to keeping your program after hard reset, without adding it to ROM and re flashing the device.
Most devices have either extended ROM, or better yet a file store, which is not erased by hard reset, but can be freely written to. (I think extended ROM needs unlocking before you can write to it).
Here's how to make your program restore it self automatically after hard reset: In the file store create a directory named 2577. In that directory place a file called autorun.exe
The system will launch autorun.exe automatically after hard reset, so you can write one to do what ever you need (install programs, restore settings etc.)
I'm not sure about the extended ROM, but I believe the procedure is similar.
P.S. You should ask technical questions like this in development and hacking forum.
Good luck!
levenum, Thanks a lot for the help , i will try and let you know. one thing the "2577" should be created how (any help will be appreciated) and will that folder and file also store at storage "E ROM" or will have to cook ROM for this.
also , any disadvantage of it as compare to Cooking a ROM
Regards
Khurram
In order:
2577 is an ordinary folder which you create just like any folder. (2577 is the processor type) The system simply knows to look for autorun.exe in that folder.
I don't know about E ROM, sorry.
The disadvantages of using file store (that I can think of) is the fact that the user can easily delete the content if he chooses to. Also most WM5 devices don't have "file store".
But if that is not a problem for you, the great advantage of it, is that you can replace any file, using just the explorer which means you can quickly test and modify your app without cooking ROM and re flashing.
I am a newby and trying to install smartkeys on cingular 8125. Do I download to pc and activesync or download direct to device? Trying to download to device make .php file. Sorry for the dumb question...trying to learn
I just downloaded to PC then put unzipped files on my Mini SD then clicked on the file to set it up. Probably an easier way but this is most obvious to me.
First of all, read the pdf that's included in the download. Basically what I do is make a directory Smartskey somewhere on my PC. I extract the files to this folder. I locate Omapclock on this site if I care to overclock (which I do) and copy that file to my new Smartskey folder on my PC. I then edit the smartskey.ini to my liking, referring to the readme.pdf as necessary. I actually keep a copy of this on my SD card for when I do a hard reset on the road. I have a directory called "!APPS" on my storage card that has all my cabs. Now.... copy the modified Smartskey folder to your device. I put it off of Program Files. Do NOT, as xxpinballxx, run from your SD card! This is documented as a bad idea. If you don't believe me, read the readme.pdf included by the author in the download. Once it's on your device, click one time on the smartskey.exe file. That's it!
Enjoy.
(And please don't PM me regarding this has no one else can benefit)

Warning message on startup
Hi Guys
I have installed smartskey (placed it in a folder under windows in main memory) and told it to start automagically.
But now when I soft reset my device it warns me about smartskey and wants me to press yes. How can I get it to start transparently.
Thanks
I see that behaviour ocassionaly, not every soft reset. Odd.
I recently updated the software on my phone (8125) and now when I start it up, it tells me that SmartSKeys is not signed with a trusted certificate and it does not start. If I tap the exe manually it starts up NP. Any suggestions?
I had the same problem with it and I had to remove the startup file from the windows/startup folder as well as the program from the memory card and then I reinstalled it to a folder in the PDA. No more problem.
Restart problem fixed
Hi
A few weeks ago I stopped receiving the message. My device is still overclocked which is what I use skey for but it doesn't complain when I switch the device off then on again (by holding down the power button) or when I soft reset.
Strange but true
Thanks

Hi all, I have a QTEK 9100.
I installed the cab to unhide the extended ROM folder and after a soft-reset I installed Windows Commander/CE 2.0 on my device and when I try to browse Extended_Rom folder I have access but some files names are "unreadable" (I mean, weird characters) and report an impossible file size (example 3.03 GB!)
My question is: Is my Extended_Rom damaged or encripted? How can I get access to it?

Your extended rom is corrupted and recoverable only by flashing a new one into it. Either you deleted or tried to write something to it and that is NOT possible via file exploring; the only way to write to the extended rom is via RUU updater or via DOC writing (both ways require a 10MB image/backup)
Check my tool as it allows to write to the extended rom zone and unhide it as well without damaging it

Hello!
in current WWE rom file that is needed by many applications (HTCAPI.dll) goes away each time i do soft reset.
can somebody create a small executable that will copy this library from the root of the storage card to \windows folder? than it would be possible to put it to startup folder....
will this problem remain with custom roms?
thank you in advance !
Same here, need that file for Hologram, not essential, but it's funny..
