I am not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but I have had the Tilt for a week now, and I noticed that the Time Zone was changing from PST to London time. I have my device set to automatically change to the correct time zone (under the phone settings)... If I disable it, there is no problem, but I travel a lot so I would like it to change automatically.
I am using the Standard ROM from AT&T. I think it could be a ROM issues since this problem would pop up every so often on different cooked ROMS on the Hermes. BUT I wanted to see if anyone else was seeing the problem.
Thank you,
I have the Tilt and switched to the HTC factory ROM. I have been experiencing this problem as well. It hasn't happened in a few days, but it is really frustrating when it is. My Outlook calander gets totally messed up along with the current time. When I go into Time Settings it is set as London. I'm not sure what was causing my problems or how I apparantly fixed it, but it looks like it went away.
Anyway, you're not the only one!
Ditto, I have a stock ATT Tilt and have disabled the automatic install of the bloatware. I'm in California and the phone reverts to Mountain time at least once a day. The optional cabs i have installed are duttythroy (DY) touch skin, DY task manager, DY HTC sim manaer, DY black 3g comm manager, DY HTC voice recorder, Equinoxe retouched dialer, and PCM contacts & keyboard. Any help or direction is much appreciated
yes, this has been happening to a lot of people...this also causes activesync to run in the background all the time and I always find myself turning activesync off in the task manager a few times a day...the one thing I which was posted in another post was I deleted a notification called repllog.exe "app run when time changes"...now i'm not sure if this fixed the time zone issue but it did stop activesync from running all the time...
Thanks strikeIII, I looked for repllog.exe using the search function and sifting through the windows directory, I can't find it. Would you happen to remember the path?
That would be a good find considering it should improve the battery life quite a bit.
Ok guys, what you need to od is:
Go to Start->Settings->Personal->Phone
Find "Time Zones" tab and untick "Automatic change time zone and clock".
That sorted same problem here in UK.
Also in California and was having the problem on my TNT 2.0 flashed 8525 and now my new stock 8925 does the same. was also causing havoc on my calendar and schedule. I went ahead and disabled the auto update for now and all is fine.

You'll not find the particular repllog entry (re "start on time change") that way. It's in the "notifications queue" so you'll need say SKtools or Memmaid (or Scarybear check notifications if you can find it). In one of these go to the notifications queue.
BE VERY CAUTIOUS.
Do not delete other Repllog entries because you can kill Active Sync altogether. I strongly advise a full backup before deleting Repllog entries. They can be re-entered using SKtools or Memmaid but it's straightforward.
Mike
Thank You, I used the "uncheck auto update" function. Has worked well since 11.35 pm 10-16-07. Chris

yeah, sorry but I used MemMaid to take care of the repllog.exe file. this may not cure the time zone change situation but it does take care of activesync running in the background. At least if you travel a lot the time will still change automatically.
I do travel alot, I'll give it a try thanks again StrikeIII, Chris
I'm having the same issue. I'm in Idaho and my phone keeps switching to Central time. I've likewise had to disable the automatic time zone changing in the phone settings to get it to stop.
I have had this problem on my Titan/Mogul since day 1. I think it has something to do with Windows/TimeWizard.exe not sending the correct queries to NIST:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\LockStream\Time\Servers
Server1: http://time-a.nist.gov:13
Server2: http://time-b.nist.gov:13
Server3: http://time.nist.gov:13
Server4: http://time-nw.nist.gov:13
Disabling time synchronization solved it for me as well.
I did search first, and my problem isn't the normal "multiple alarms at one time"...The reminders are going off like they should AND at the time of appt (not normal). Anyone encounter this? Is that a system setting I accidentally changed?
Things I've done lately:
- Loaded Kaiser Tweaks, made some recommended changes.
- Loaded the Tilt Cab for SPB Mobile Shell (enables themes to work).
- Some appt. times were off an hour, so changed time zone back and forth.
- Loaded Chartcross GPS Test
- Loaded then removed the HTC Keyboard/Dialer Cab
I do us MemMaid all the time and remove duplicated entries...
I don't know if this is the reason for your issue, but Windows Mobile by default is suppose to play a reminder X min/hours before the start time (whatever you set) and then if you DO NOT "Dismiss" that reminder it will play again at the start time of the appointment.
Are you maybe not dismissing the first reminder?
Thanks for the reply - Yes, I am. I even made a Test Appt - for 10am, with a reminder of 15 minutes. It went off at 945am...I dismissed...all was quiet until 10am.
happens to me too
I have a tilt, and I'm running the latest tilt unreleased official rom from the upgrading forum here.
ROM Version: ATT rom aku 0.4.4 build 18128
Radio: 1.27.14.09
Same exact thing happens to me. This was also happening with the rom that came on the tilt originally. when I dismiss an appt, I get a notification at the time it is supposed to happen too.
I checked under notifications after dismissing one, and I did not see the appt. in the list. I did see "enrollnot" at the appt. time, but that was it.
I haven't looked too much through the registry for a switch to turn this off, but it is pretty annoying.
This is happening to me too. It's not really a big problem for me even though I use my appointments constantly for work. It's just a minor annoyance. A fix would be nice though.
Then I guess this behavior is normal now, and I didn't necessarily screw something up. Having used a WM device since 2001, I just never encountered that - and I just got the Tilt this week and assumed it was me since I couldn't find any forums reporting the "problem".
Thanks for the replies, and I agree - it would be nice to have a setting to allow this "feature" or turn it off.
This is especially annoying for birthday reminders. I have them set to remind me 7 hours before (i.e. 5pm the night before). Problem is that even though I dismiss the reminder, I get woken up at 12am since these are all day events. Ugghhh...

I have the same exact problem!
mine too and I'm using the original AT&T ROM...
Unless this is a new feature to WM6, I've never seen this happen on any other version of WM.
For those of you having this issue, do you have the following software running:
AlarmPal
AlarmToday
PhoneAlarm
or some other calendar or reminder enhancement app such as SPB Pocket Plus w/ Repeating Alarams addon installed?

I am experiencing the same thing, and I don't have any of the mentioned apps running. Nothing more than the built-in calendar and tasks, actually.
FIXED on my tilt
I compared the registry entries for the calendar between my tilt and 8525. I found some differences between them, and modified the tilt registry settings. this problem has now gone away for me. I think it was because of one of these bits under DEFAULTS in this key, but you never know.....
Here's what I changed:
old tilt with repeated reminders at appointment time:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Calendar\Reminder]
"DEFAULTS"=hex:1e,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,04,00,00,00,00,\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,a0,44,03,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
"WAVEFILE"=""
new tilt today that does not repeat reminders:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Calendar\Reminder]
"DEFAULTS"=hex:1e,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,04,00,00,00,00,\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,60,72,04,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
"WAVEFILE"=""
maybe someone with access to the WM6 manuals has the decode for this key.

FYI.... make sure to use the CODE tags when adding registry entries. Look carefully and you will find extra spaces in your post above. If someone were to copy/paste that code, they would get the extra spaces making the key not work properly. By adding the code tags, this won't happen.
HMMMM....fixed? maybe, maybe not
I think I had this happen again today, after a few days of no repeats I got one today. Not sure if this fixed it or not. YMMV.
I'm going to let it simmer a few more days and see if it was a fluke, or if it really didn't fix the issue.
I think it's a WM bug because mine will do this off and on. I've never really noticed it until this thread was started but I've kept my eye on it and I get one that's multiple one time, then the next notification won't be. No ryhme or reason to it.
I agree, seems to be sporadic.
I'm on the stock AT&T 1.60 Tilt ROM and thought this was consistantly happening for me. So yesterday, rather than doing the Snooze for 15 mins, I just hit dismiss. 30 mins later I realized it never went off again and I missed my meeting . So yeah, it doesn't seem to consistent...
When ever I send a text message, I get the correct time I sent it, but when I receive a text message the time of when I received is completely off. I know this is wrong because I tested it with my friends phone. Anyone else have this problem or knows how to fix it thanks.
Try to do a registry edit.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\
Then add a dword key called "TrustTimeZoneField" and give it a dword value of 0
Then soft reset.
See if that helps.
Sorry, but I'm completely new at this. How would I even go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE? Is this through the xperia itself or through the computer?
You'll need to install a program that can edit your phone's registry.
Something like this:
http://www.phm.lu/products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
After you have it, you should backup your registry in case and be careful of changes you make since you could end up needing to hard reset. But really, you just navigate to where I posted and then create the new path. This should fix the SMS times for future messages.
I followed your instructions, but my problem still persists. Anything else I could do?
When you go back into the registry, do you see the new entry made (with the exact name and value)? Did you soft reset?
Hi, i had the exact same issue, the phone had changed time zome to +3 instead of +2 (probably igo8 messed it) and i kept receiving sms with wrong time..!! check it that it is correct..!
was pointed to this thread since I opened another with the same issue. I downloaded PHMRegEdit and tried to install it. It went through okay, but doesn't seem to want to install onto my phone itself. Had problems installing other programs through the same thing. Only way I've had any luck installing programs was with moving CAB files over and installing them directly on my phone.
So, without being able to change my registry, I did try to see what would happen with just changing the time zone. Tried a couple different ones and if I went to -1 instead of -5 (eastern Canada here) then it showed the right time. But as soon as I went back to -5 it changed all the inbound times again. Really weird since this is only on inbound messages and not outbound as well.
got it. Had to use a different program, but it worked.
what different program did you use? Because I'm still having trouble with my inbound messages.

CeRegEdit. Works from your computer. You plug in your phone and it can grab the registry from your phone, edit it, save it, and soft reset it, all withing Windows on your computer. Nice little program.
This is my value:
Value name:
TrustTimeZoneField
Value data:
0
Base:
Decimal
Value Type:
REG_DWORD
Did I do something wrong?
yea, that's what I have. After I added it then my texting time was fixed. Though I don't know why this registry isn't in the ROMs to begin with.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\
and you add it right there. I know there are other folders to expand, but you don't put it in the other folders, you select PhoneSettings on the left hand side, then on the right you'll see all the registry lines like
Enable3GLongNamePrefix
Last_SMS_Tick
LongNamePrefix
PhoneSettingExt-DLL
etc, etc
My TrustTimeZoneField is the last one on that list with the REG_DWORD of 0
i googled and found bestRegEdit version 1.00 as what is writen in the about of the program www.smartphoneware.com search there its a trial but it will solve ur problem....i have the time fixed but there is 6 to 10 min pluse wish i helped
Thanks everyone, for some reason the inbound text message times are now correct. Turns out it now works because I had to remove my battery to change the sim card, then when I turned my phone on, everything has been corrected.
Ive ended up with stupid issue here, basically I replaced my digitizer with a cheap ebay one and made a mess of it, so now my touchscreen doesnt work. Ive been ok with that until today I flashed the rom to unlock the phone and the first screen pops up with "Please tap the screen to set up your device" or something similar. Thats something I cant physically do so if anyone knows a way around that I would LOVE to hear it
Cheers.
Not yet
People will recommend using tools such as mymobiler and such, that enable you to connect to your device over the PC using activesync.
It does work, for the first tap only. The screen alignment after that is where you are boned, I find myself in the same situation.
Try researching for registry keys that can be modified, as programs like Soti's Pocketpro will allow you to modify registry keys. I'll post if I find anything similar.
search for and read about "welcome.not". the idea is to create a blank file named "welcome.not" on your storage card so the phone chooses to skip the screen alignment wizard on first boot up.
The "solution" may be:
Try flashing one of Witschey's ROMs, because he does not include neither screen alignment nor apps setup in the ROM, so that you'll access the device after flashing, no need to soft-reset nor anything.
The question is, what are you going to do if you can't touch the screen ?
Well, i can do a few things that I need with it. Use it as a phone for a start
I get a free upgrade soon so Ill go with the hero or an iphone but until then I will need a phone and an mp3 player. You can still kind of use google maps even for GPS its just tricky. I did manage my way around London with it lol.
Thanks for the tips anyway guys, Ive tried deleting the welcome file already today but the device kind of locks after that in that you cant really see any icons, even tried 2 roms with it. I will give that Witschey ROM a go though that sounds like it could be the answer to this.
welcome.not
Welcome.not file worked for me, but I did not put in on a SD card, just in the root of the device after MS does activesync.
My computer<device<double click<paste
Took the battery out, turned it on, presto.
Thanks for that!!
No need to reflash, was cool.
Well I tried a Witschey ROM and its working great! Thank you afn961 for that one. It runs very fast indeed as well compared to the stock T-mobile WM6 I had on there. Only issue I have now is that I cant access some menus without the touchscreen, worst one being the running programs menu so stuff just stays open. Cant win em all though.
quite a few cooked ROMs these days are built so that the screen alignment wizard is skipped and it won't show up unless you invoke it explicitly.
i suggested the "welcome.not" approach because it is known to work in terms of skipping the screen alignment wizard and i thought you wanted to stick to the ROM you had because it was to your liking, else i'd have suggested one of the ROMs mentioned in the first paragraph.
finally, you CAN manage running applications using one of the many third party task switchers. i will suggest "showcase" or "taskfacade". the idea is to map your PTT button to invoke the task switcher. not sure if the following will work properly but you can set the default htc task manager to close applications (instead of minimizing them) when you press OK. so you can press OK to exit the foreground application or you can invoke the third party task manager to SWITCH to another application. that way, you get multitasking AND the ability to close the applications you don't need.
check it out and let us know how it goes, good luck!
