ROM to raise volume or add speakerphone? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I just got a PDA2K and, like my iPAQ 6315, I hate the low ringer! It's running WM2003SE, if I upgrade to 2005 will my volume be louder?
Also, I do not see a speakerphone option. Is there one? If not, will upgrading add this functionality?

The ring tone is the same as WM2003SE as it dependant on hardware. But I'm quite sure it is possible to write a software to boost the tones up.
As for speakerphone, the only way to activate it in WM2005 without addon software is by pressing the green button for about 3 seconds during a call.
There are programs already that can activate via software. Do a search in this forum under development and hacking section.
To add to your question, has anyone realised that when we go under Add A Ring Tone section and preview the ring tone there, it is very loud. But when the phone actually rings, it is much softer. Any idea why and how we can ensure the ringing is as loud as the preview?

Hello,
There is 3 cabs file posted which solves 3 sec delay and low rington problem on wm5 Just search .It is basically a registry hack

Voice commander and ringer

Does anyone know how to increase the volume with voice commander? and also the ringer volume. I can hardly hear the voice commander and I cant hear the phone ring...
I have the same problem
I tried several registry settings, but the ringtone volume is very low now and can't set it back to original even if setting microsoft voice command to not to speak the incoming caller id...
Anybody out there... help !!!
I think I figured this out by accident. I'm using v2.17 and have a Cardo Scala 500 headset.
To make this simple, I'll refer to the volume controls as left and right; the left side being the pda volume and the right side being the ringer volume.
When not on a call, both volume controls are visible. When on a call, the left side disappears. This is probably by design. Unfortunately, the right side volume control appears to do nothing for me when I'm on a call. I found if I turn up the left side volume way up when I'm not on a call, the Microsoft voice is very loud and almost distorted when I listen through the BT headset. But when the call is made, volume returns to an good level and is clear.
When I first got my phone, I kept my left side volume low because I didn't like hearing all the click-click-click when using the stylus. I could barely use the phone because the volume through the headset was so low. No matter what I did, I couldn't get a good volume through the headset.
Now I keep the pda volume very high so I don't have to fumble with the phone to boost the volume right before answering a call. Calls are clear even if the Microsoft voice is a bit distorted and loud when setting up the call.
I was hoping this might be fixed in the newer ROMs.
Thanks for the quick reply 100Tbps.
But unfortunately the problem i'm facing is not exactly the one you had. My problem is that the ringtone volume on the phone has reduced after installing MS Voice Command (which I want to keep). Initially I had set it to speak out the caller name while incoming call, but that reduced the ringtone volume and the volume of the announcement of incoming caller was itself very low. Then, I tried fixing that by changing some registry values, to no avail.
Now i've disabled announcing of incoming caller name, and still ringtone volume is very low. Can't seem to increase even if all the volume sliders are up at max....
Still in a fix... don't want to hard reset and install everything again...
there is a reg edit for it. i found it in a universal forum or something
Thanks a lot grinny11.
I've installed the file. Would love to see what settings the cab file changes - just to learn a bit... i'm a noob here and a wanna be power user
Anyways, all i need to do now is to wait for someone to call me  don't have a landline or alternate phone.
Will update here if problem solved.
Didn't work
maybe will have to do hard reset after all
thats wierd. it works for me. volume of voice command is just as loud as any other ring tone
quick question..
i have never used voice commander before and i could not find the current info page.
Can anyone provide a link to a page with all it can do? What else can you aside from calling contacts? does it work well? im guessing its not free
thanks

No sound from earpiece when calling

Hi there
I've been having a few problems with TomTom and BTCoreIf.dll.
Since the last install - I had to re-do it because the Alpine reset itself following backup battery failure.
Anyway, since I did that, there is no sound from the earpiece, I can't hear a ringing tone or anything.
The actual phone's sound is OK, the applications are all making the sounds they should, including TomTom.
When I use the Bluespoon headset I have, I can hear a ringing tone through it.
I'm wondering if I have a file missing on it. Plus holding down the green phone key when I try and make a call doesn't bring up the speakerphone utlilty like it used to.
Any and all comments appreciated.

Slow signal when ringing!

Hi!
Is there anyway to fix the extremely slow signal on the touch diamond?
What i meen is that the signal wont start until 2-3 dial tones or so, many ppl hang up after 4-5 wich makes it hard to get it out of the pocket and answer the phone before they hang up!
The screen starts flashing at first signal why wont the ringtone go on ? :S
There is a program called Diamond Tweak that you can download to help with this. It has mutiple functions that are able to be adjusted. You want to adjust Section 1.7 under Call, Ring Time that disable delay for incoming calls.
I cannot copy Cab file, so do search on this forum or PPC Geeks to find it.
Didnt change anthing
I have newsest ROM (2.03?)
I think this is a problem too. One way to improve the ringtone to 2-3 rings before starting is to use the Windows dialer instead of the HTC dialer. You can change to this using the Diamond Tweaks program. By the way, if you use the Windows dialer, you will no longer have the bluetooth icon in the taskbar when it is active....
Another thing to do it to have a standard ringtone. I have Siouxsie and the Banshees as my ringtone. Using MP3 trimmer, I have made this just 1.12Mb. A smaller file would also improve things.
If your phone program is running already (I mean you have used the phone after soft resetting), then this helps speed it up.
I have not managed to improve on at least 2 rings before hearing anything though, ever.
I have searched the forums on this topic too and have not found anything more than these tips....

Ring Tone Sound Problem - Help

Hello all,
I though I had sorted the problem of the low ring tone when I installed the Audiopara cab file from here at XDA. Indeed it does raise the volume quite a bit but at a price...
After a few hours it randomly refuses to sound when someone rings, windows media player will only play at one volume (very loud) even when I have the volume turned right down for both the program and the phone / system itself, and my SPB alarm refuses to sound unless it's on the maximum volume setting within the program...turning the system volume down or off does nothing
Please can someone advise how to get the ring tone volume at a resonable level with sacrificing the problems above...
p.s. Have also tried HD tweak but that just disabled the ring tones altogether.
I used HTCVolume.cab it is on this forum, this fixed the problem for me, i hope this fixes your problem, you will probably need to find a way to remove the previous fixes first
Thanks for the reply...I'll download the cab file and try that.
I'll hard reset my device as I've had to do a number of times previous to get rid of the problem and try a fresh install....
Cheers
Just tried the cab posted below, installed it, soft reset and now the sound is as quiet, even a little quieter than normal.
Anyone got any ideas as i am missing so many texts and calls it's not even funny anymore. There's so much i love about this phone but not being able to hear calls and texts is a major problem...please can someone help :-(

Ringtone problem

Hi,
I have been having this problem for the last couple of days, for some reason the volume of my ringer has dramatically decreased to the point where i can't hear the phone ring when it's in my pocket (wasn't the case before). When i try to play the ring tone (it's a wave file by the way) using the media player the volume is normal and very loud, the same applies to when i play it from the settings->sounds&notifications the volume on the ring tone is perfect, but when i receive a phone call the ringer volume is cut down by more than half, i checked the ringer volume and it's set to the max, I also did a hard reset then restored my files using the sprint backup but the problem didn't get fixed, I tried using a different ring tones and the same happens. any help would be greatly appreciated.
There are three volume controls: System, Ring and In call Volume.
Have you checked the System Volume?
If you press up on the hard volume key, you'll see arrow on the top right to switch to the next vol control. Check there.
HTH
ringtone problem
yea all 3 volumes are set to the max level
ringtone volume problem
the phone has the original stock rom from rogers (canada) hope this helps in any way
Have you got any profile managers installed (G-profile, Phoneweaver etc)?
ringtone volume problem
no i dont have a profile managers installed... so i just noticed that when the phone start ringing and i dont pick up, a second before the phone stops ringing the volume of the ringtone increases to the normal level (then stops ringing), the increase of the ringtone volume happens for like a split second after the caller hangs up and the phone stops ringing. hope this helps in any way. Thank you
Sounds like you have a Ringtone delay problem, there are a couple of solutions.
1. Disable HTC dialer (and use the Winmo one instead), can be done using Advanced Configurator 3.3.
2. Try the CAB I've attached, remember to only use WAV as ringtone though.
I would also recommend adjusting Call Forwarding timing to 30seconds. Settings/Phone/Services/Call Forwarding and get settings.
Disabling the HTC dialer is probably going to be the best solution as the HTC dialer is a hungry resource eating monster but I would just try the CAB and adjusting Call Forwarding time. There are some other REG setting as well but I never found them useful.
