Can i download any software to improve the quality of phone calls, the sound on my T-mobile MDA is very tinny. Or is this just how they are, i cant put up with it much longer!
I'm no expert and dont want to crash it!
try adjusting these registry values
HKLM\Software\HTC\AUDIOGAIN(x)\RECEIVE_UPLINK_VOLUME = CC (DWORD hexadecimal)
HKLM\Software\HTC\AUDIOGAIN(x)\EARPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME = CC (DWORD hexadecimal)
where 'x' = 0, 1, 2

Does anyone know if this registry edit is valid to fix BT??
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/Current/ControlSet/Control/Power/State/Suspend/Flags]
Change DWORD (HEX) to 10000 instead 200000
I have some problem on BT, this trick doesn't solve anything for me.
Perhaps need some investigation more...
Chirst if only it were as simple as that!
Anyway, in what manner is your Bluetooth broken such that it needs a 'fix'?
Andy
it goes down after 10 min of usage or when i wake up the device in a midle of a call. This occurs since i have wm5
ok i know mini stumbler doesn't work since it hasn't been updated back in 2004.
i do alot of network readings for work. mainly net stumbler for the regular SNR readings not the snr+.
is there a program that i could use on my AT&T tilt to get SNR readings?
i would like to walk around with my phone then my laptop getting readings.
Apologies if you know this already, but WiFiFoFum can observe (& record to a file if reqd.) the RSSI - can you figure out the signal2noise ratio with that figure?

i like to just to do a quick look and record the SNR. I install wireless AP's in hotels and i have to test the signal in every room.
or what would be the quickest way to figure out the SNR with the RSSI?
It appears that the calculation may depend on the WiFi chip manufacturer.
Because the RSSI detector is a nonlinear detector, it changes the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) of the signal that goes into it. The key to the ASK sensitivity calculation is the SNRout vs SNRin curve of the RSSI detector.
Once we know the SNRout vs SNRin relationship, the steps to finding the ASK sensitivity for a given Noise Figure, IF Bandwidth, and Data Rate are given below.
1. Determine the Eb/No needed for a target BER (10-3 in this example) then calculate the SNR from the Eb/No by using
SNR = (Eb/No) * (R/BBW)
Where R is the data rate and BBW is the Data Filter bandwidth.
2. Reduce the SNR calculated from the previous step by the ratio in dB of the IF (pre-detection) BW to the Data Filter BW. For instance, a 600 kHz IF BW and 6 kHz Data Filter BW means a 20 dB reduction in the SNR. This is the SNR of the signal coming out of the RSSI detector before the Data Filter gets rid of the high frequency noise (assumed to occupy the IF BW). At sensitivity, this ratio is usually negative in dB.
3. Use the RSSI SNRout vs SNRin curve to find the SNR at the input to the RF or IF Amplifier and RSSI detector. You actually use the curve "backwards" to find SNRin given the SNRout you calculated in Step 2.
4. Use the SNR formula for the front end of a receiver to find the signal level at the receiver input. This is the sensitivity, S.
S = (SNRin) * (kTBIFFS)
Where kT is the noise spectral density at 290 K (-174 dBm/Hz) BIF is the IF (pre-detection) BW, and FS is the system (not just the front-end) noise figure of the receiver.
Because the RSSI detector is a logarithmic detector, the SNR input-output relationship can be expressed in a closed-form expression, albeit a messy one. An old paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems[1] derived the expression and plotted the SNRout vs SNRin curve. The curve in the article is small and doesnÂft have enough gridlines, but it is possible to evaluate the expression in an Excel spreadsheet and plot it in better detail. The curve appears below, plotted along with a simple SNRout = SNRin curve (linear detection) for comparison. Notice the threshold effect. Below the "crossover point" SNR of 3.7 dB, the SNR gets worse going through the detector. Above this point, it improves.

Taken from the 9th post here.
So, going from my brief skim reading, it may not be possible to get the SNR figure from an RSSI figure without a noise value at each point?
Could be wrong, I'm no expert at all, just hoped the program might be of use to you...
thanks for the help.
Hopefully there's a program out there that would work for me.
Shot in the dark, but if MiniStumbler - http://www.netstumbler.com/downloads/ works on a Kaiser, it might have the stats you need.

i tried it already, it doesn't detect the Wifi card. Maybe someone here can get mini stumbler to work on the kaiser?
thanks though!
Hey all, just wanted to share a tweek that I found somewhere (not for diamond) that helped me out with my aqusition problems.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/SUPL AGPS/
EnableAGPS = 1
GPSMode = 4
dont know what exactly it does but it fixed all of my getting a lock problems. (dont forget to update your QuickGPS with the latest data also)
The only thing I want to see fixed now is the horrible update delay that you get when you are walking, still havent seen any solutions. From my point of view it talkes about 30~40 second of walking time before the position "catched up" to you, then it work quite well for as long as you are walking and stop only for a few second, if you stop for longer it seem to go back into what ever mode it is in from start so another wait for it to catch up.
I am doing all this is OziExplorerCE. Tested it on Googlemaps as well, works fine but the follow delay is there too.
D.
GPSMode = 1 means Autonomous (Self Fix no Assistance Required, Pessimistic Approach, Very Slow but Very Accurate)
GPSMode = 2 means Assisted by Server (Less Optimistic, Somewhat Slow but Medium Accuracy Quality)
GPSMode = 4 means Assisted by Server with Extended Ephemeris (Very Optimistic, But Sometime we loose Accuracy Quality)
can you let us know what's the other setting on your SUPL AGPS? such as ServerIP, ServerPort as well as other setting. These attributes are crucial to get AGPS works.. Thanks in advace.
Could somebody to export
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/SUPL AGPS/
complete tree to this forum. I would like compare other values in this tree with my phone. Thank you very much.
I'd guess that AGPS is Assisted GPS and it can also be activated using the Advanced Config Tool
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\GPSMode 00000001 REG_DWORD
This alone above registry key is the only tweak i've made, and it fixes pedestrian mode, great for caching! Thanks a lot!! i'm happy now
Guys, I just bought Omnia 2 and it seems the GPS lag so much that it's totally useless. I use Garmin XT and the GPS lags about a couple of minutes. Is it a phone issue or what?
This is what I have done, and it work's (at least for me Omnia i8000):
Change these settings in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\InputBufferSize: set from 4096 to 512
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\OutputBufferSize: set from 4096 to 512
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\SleepOnNoData: set from 100 to 0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Multiplexer\MaxBufferSize: set from 16384 to 1024
The rest is the same as the usual GPS and TomTom settings. I used com port 4 (and 9 for hardware), but you can probably use any other port that hasn't been assigned yet.

do that after buck up your reg with a regeditor
and then you have a top class GPS
first time update your extra first time locks in about 2 min in clear sky
and after that in a couple of seconds
does that work .. can any one confirm ?? coz i m having same trouble .. .plzz help !!!!
The one and only FULLY OPERATIONAL Navigation Software is:
IGO8
Try it and find it out
GPS fix
Hi i'm using AGIS NAVFone (Asia), but should work for all GPS devices
First:
Go to Settings>Connectivity>GPS (or something like that)
My phone's in servicing now... sad
Set COM9 to hardware port
COM7 to GPS
Baud Rate: 9600
Gives me a fix ~2min
To make it quicker: Install GPSModDriver here:
forum[.]xda-developers[dot]com/showthread.php?t=571266
What it does:
This Driver installs between your gps application and the GPSID driver that reads the hardware gps data.
Lag is compensated, by guessing your position 'some number' of milliseconds in the future, current course and speed changes are included in the guess.
It corrects for invalid data in the gps strings, Out of range DOP values, and Heading values of 'NaN' (Not A Number). Position, Speed, and course are reported, even though the distance traveled is less than 30 meters.

Follow the instructions there to install, and Garmin Mobile XT requires QueStub
Garmin Moble XT (and Others), users:
Garmin Mobile XT, refuses to use the GpsModPort to read gps data, it insists on using the original com port. QueStub is an application that changes the reg entries for the default gps port to the GpsModDriver port, runs the Que program, and restores the values back when Que exits. It is only 5 kb when sitting in memory.

So get QueStub 3.10,
and GPSModDriver 3.10
With this you can get ~3s Fix (For me)
Take time to read through that post and feel free to ask any questions.

Anyone tried this?
you can test your GPS dialing " *#1472365# "
and there u can change these values to.
nothing appears in the screen when typing these neumbers
i wonder if u can assist.Garmin XT is loaded.First screen ...connect in GPS Garmin.when entering the program tries to connect the Garmin GPS receiver and scans for the connected device and for bluetooth..It has the skip button too.When clicking omit(or skip)program says taht some parts of Garmin mobile xt would not function properly without a valid gps fix.If you click yesthat is go on with skip)screen advises you to aggree on safe driving etc and when you do so screen says that cannot track the Garmin GPS device, asking you if you want to connect with other GPS devices.If you click yes it prompts you that connection is ONLY allowed for the Garmin GPS device.It gives three choices in the bottom.1.Acton completed.2.Activate and 3.Activate (again).When clicking completed gives you the screen ..where to? and map layout (the icon on top left is yellow(not red)and says again that cannot locate the garmin GPS device asking you (again and again)if you would like to be connected with other GPS devices.By clicking no the previous icon appears again (red this time)a map is shown and on top there is the indication that GPS is Inactive!!Sorry for being so detailed but my next action will be to throw the GT program away.Moreover in the screen with indication (system-info) of GPS when clicking prompts you again that connection only with Garmin GPS. Finally both Beeline GPS and GPS tuner work fine in my OMNIA (fully operable) and lastly i wanted Garmin only for the naval charts as I have both Sygic and iGo 8 working perfectly in my device, therefore I hesitate to alter the COM7 to COM4 as both (iGo and Sygic recognize and cooperate with COM7).
Thanks in advance I wonder what am I doing wrong with garmin.

Jip, on my omnia II i8000. I use IGO8 and well ... it finds sattelites but it will not connect to them. So no changes on my phone. But you should try it as those register settings will not damage your phone.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung\RIL\GPS

Vaccuracy=1 old 0
ResponseTime=0 old 2
QOPDelay=0 old 12

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung\RIL\GPS\XTRA
AutoDownload=1
AutoDownloadActiveSync=1
AutoDownloadWifi=1
DownloadInterval=168
Enable=1
this with I8000XXJD1 locks at cold start in 20-29sec in open sky the only trouble you must have data enable or leave server empty as it is
test it with 3 deferent programs Igo8,iGoprimo,syngic ,mireo black 3,1
there is no need for anything else no drivers no nothing
all you have to do the first time is to get XTRA manual
this also works with omnia 1
try this
setting-system-external gps-programs-port4
and
setting-system-external gps-hardware-port(none) and Baud rate 4800
and
make youe Garmin XT port on 4
I just spilt some tea on my nexus one, i teared it down, and nothing was wrong from the inside. Unfortunately i broke the power button and the antenna. when i powered on the phone everything was working except wifi and bluetooth. i replaced the antenna but still not able to make wifi work. each time i try to turn it on it gives me an error.
i did dmseg after trying turning on the wifi, and i got the follwoing errors

when i try to turn on bluetooth nothing appear in the dmesg command, but still does not work as well.
I tried default factory reset, format /system then reflash the cm 7.1 RC, but still not working..
Also the available space on /system is 10.5 MB.
Radio Version 008
is it hardware issue or software ?? if i change the flex cable part will fix the problem or not.
hopefully somebody can help me to figure out where is the problem.
no body here to help
