?? how to modify an OEM package (i guess) on a ROM ??

Hi! I'd like to know if it is possible to modify an OEM package on a rom. I'm not sure this is how it's called. What I mean is that i'd like to remove some programs that are automatically installed after a new rom is installed (when winmo launches for the first time).. like the custom taskbar or the 4 rows in the start menu..
Actually, i already dumped some roms but then i don't really know how to recombine the files, also don't know nothing about signing, unsigning them and can't qite figure why some programs are asking for bin files instead of nbh (or nbf)
Thanks in advance for your time
id also like to know please :].
maybe someone can create a video? that would be a good way to help others with clarity..
well, seems to be quite a difficult task.. i figured the cook has to provide his ERV file for us to be able to modify his rom (even for a slight modification...) tough luck it is :s
There are quite a few kitchen thread for rhodium! Have you searched and looked? I dont think I understand what you say anyways!!
Look for the kitchen here, and read the thread. Most of your questions has been answered in this forum oneway or the other.
Are you using a kitchen now? If so, what is it? And why not ask for help in the kitchen thread?

Remove 10 mb ram hack from eclair roms

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong thread, but i figured since this was related to android development someone would know over here.
Is there a boot.img i can flash to remove this hack from the eclair roms since it usually comes compiled with the rom? I've looked all over and i can't find it. I don't want the hack, is this possible?
Simple rule:
If it's a question, it belongs in the Questions and Answers section.
Thread moved.
I think, not 100% sure, that you can just re-flash the ROM you are using.
I remember doing something along that lines a few weeks ago, but I also did a plethora of other things, so I can't say for sure what removed it.
Best guess would be to reflash whatever ROM you are running.

well i play a few games here and there to let the time pass by in class, it's not imperative for me to have a blazing fast phone. I understand it helps with performance right, but is it really necessary for eclair roms?
and in your opinion, what's the best one out right now?
At the moment Eclair roms are using are using the 10MB RAM hack because we dont have the drivers for the GPU.
There is no point in giving back the 10MB as we cant use the GPU which is why u are getting average performing games.
ohhhhh, ok i get it sorry, thanks guys.
dang, well, does anyone have any idea when the video drivers might be released? I've been on cyanogen since i got my mytouch last year and i just wanna try something new, but i dont know what
something new thats fully functional*

[Q] Just a small question about flash

Hi all!
I just bought a Touch pro 2 from a user that came with an old Energy rom
I allready checked many tuturials and videos but by fear its my first time flashing a rom into a pda.
Since it came with the old energy rom it is HardSpl allready.
My question is: Do i just need to run task29 to wipe out old rom and install the Energy.RHODIUM.21914.Sense2.5. and its all done or do i need any further proccedure?
sorry about asking but im just affraid to brake it, its so AWASOME this Phone!
cheers!

That's pretty much it. Task29, then run the ROM file of your choice (either over the SD card or over Active Sync). Some suggest to hard reset after your new ROM boots up. Just to make sure you start from a blank slate I guess? Although Task29 should more than take care of this.
After that, just load your programs of choice, sync your contacts, etc.
Its a little intimidating to flash for the first time. But once you've done it, you'll realize how easy it actually is. Just make sure your phone is charged up enough on each step, and don't mess with the phone or your desktop computer while you flash (and don't let it go to sleep or screensaver), and you'll be fine.

I did saw that post like many others in here allready including videos ...but the fear to do something wrong is always present thats why i wanted to listen a direct voice tolding me thatt that is right!
For example in the task29 topic it says : connect via Activesinc, Run task29 (there is no task29.exe file there, just RomupdateUtility. is this one we must run ?
After that its just need to get into bootscreen and flash the new rom by the PC?
cheers

That's correct, whether you flash Task29, a custom ROM, or a new radio, they all utilize the same RUU interface.
Ok, i will give it a try and hope everything run ok
Very appreciate for your help redpoint73, thanks a lot
cheers
thanks a lot again redpoint 73 , it all went good and the rom is now up and running and im loving its smooth and steady
cheers m8
welcome to the club. i've gone through so many flashe's always looking for something faster, better or anything worth the improvements. i think i have finally found what i've been looking for. energyrom reference serie's. with the overclock set at 749mhz its awesome try it. well try overclock at 729 and then see how it takes it before u step up to 749. let me know what u think.

Your very welcome. Easy, right? It quickly goes from something you're scared of, to an addiction!
Also, be sure to charge your battery to 100%, then let it drain to 0%, and do this once or twice to get the battery meter calibrated. Lots of people will flash a new ROM and freak out at the battery readings, thinking their battery life is all screwed up. When in reality, its just that they haven't given the battery meter a chance to get calibrated accurately.
which one is the energyrom reference series
i currently have a energy rom installed i just dont know if my device is over clocked
it just seems really slow

You'd be best off asking questions about EnergyROM in the EnergyROM thread
As for overclocking, if you haven't installed specific overclocking tools, or a ROM that includes overclocking (Energy's doesn't) then you don't have overclocking.
Op please read sticky before posting and nearly all ROM threads have a guide regards flashing.
Not ROM Development thread closed.

need help

Hi, guys.. Let me introduce myself..
I am one of the extreme noobs you hate, and I hate doing this to you.. but I couldn't find another way then posting for help..
Here's my problem..
I recently got a Kaiser, with a 8Gb SDHC card, and wanted to install Android for it.. I read all the guides, and thought I could manage myself..
I choose a Haret version, to see how the Android works, and then maybe later do a Nand version ( all you guys keep telling its the better choice ) .
I choose Scoot_CyanogenMod_7.1.0_RLS3 android version first.. but as i couldn't install it.. i downloaded a Incubus26Jc's version Super Froyo RLS15 version..
I did all the guide said.. downloaded atools, started it choose the device, resolution and the version... ( i didnt know what to choose, Develop or Stable version, so i tried both ) .. On the panel type , i choose 2 .. On key map i choose Normal .. on FStab i choose Partition 2 on all the tabs.. I did all the steps in rom mix .. downloaded a haret.. In boot scripts editor I choose partition 2 again, checked the Install system, Fix permission, clear Davik cache and Use SD partitioner.. Divided the sd card on two partitions.. Saved all the files.. And tried several times.. And I still cant install the freaking android..
Maybe my problem is i dont have a working brain.. i dont know..
Anyhow.. if anybody wants to help me.. please give any advice ..
Thanks in advance.
I made some pics of what I'm doing, so if anybody sees where I am mistaking, pls let me know.
Maybe something is wrong with my kernel.. i dont even know how to check my kernel version.. When I check my settings, in section named about.. I see this
CE OS 5.2. 19212 (Build 19212.1.0.3)
and in the Device Information
ROM version: 3.29.422.1.WWE
ROM date: 05/20/08
Radio version: 1.65.20.29
..any comment or suggestion would be nice..
same issues as me!!!
really.. so im not alone
Did you manage to achieve something.. I'am still trying.. I am choosing the right settings, but when haret starts booting, after a while it start doing same step over and over again..

I don't see startup.txt and haret in your directory
Your partitions "system" and "data" are at the same place
Haret is there, i forgot to take a pic after putting haret in the andboot folder.. I'am using haret-for-kernel-2-6-32 version btw..
What is a startup.txt .. i haven't seen that step in the installation guide ?
And I didn't realize that system and data should be at different places.. I thought I should put them both in partition 2.. Where should I place them ??
Thanks a lot for taking a look at my problem. :)

Ok guys, so after reading this forum for some time, I managed to install Android, using NAND.. and I'm very thankful for all the help i got from this forum.. but, i have some problems.. Some applications ain't working, or they are reaaaaly slow.. like Viber, Skype .. and some other more demanding apps.. My question to all you guys that are running Android on Kaiser is : What's your experience with it, and what's your setup?
Maybe Kaiser is just to slow for some apps, and only solution is to overclock it using Rogue tools, or to find the optimal set-up ?
Anyway, i'm running My Modified Fresh Froyo Release 20-2-2011, with clemsyn's kernel.. and my radio version is 1.70.19.09.

Dude, this phone is 5 years old, u gotta understand and Viber, Skype! those are some heavy apps
Well, my kaiser is real smooth, with launcher pro, it's delicious But calculating takes a while, like opening apps, sending messages trough the internet, playing games...
I'm running same radio, same rom, and kernel...well that kernel's old! use liquid's kernel! It's the newest one on the atools! BUT for this you need to make a androidupdate.tgz or .tar just go into recovery and after installing the system install the update
the link for kernel and update attached is here with the update attached on the second post! Good Luck! NOw I gotta poop! xD
Yeah, I know it's old.. just wanted to check with other people..
Tnx a lot for your help, will try l1qu1d kernel and update !!

Don't forget to make the androidupdatet.gz or it willl say it failed! Didn't you use that kernel on the SD? Cause if you did, you also had to apply the update
